This series has been 12 years in the making, it mostly finishes the
work that was started with the founding of Linaro to clean up platform
support in the kernel.
The largest change here is a cleanup of the omap1 platform, which
is the final ARM machine type to get converted to the common-clk
subsystem. All the omap1 specific drivers are now made independent of the
mach/*.h headers to allow the platform to be part of a generic ARMv4/v5
multiplatform kernel. The last bit that enables this support is still
missing here while we wait for some last dependencies to make it into
the mainline kernel through other subsystems.
The s3c24xx, ixp4xx, iop32x, ep93xx and dove platforms were all almost
at the point of allowing multiplatform kernels, this work gets completed
here along with a few additional cleanup. At the same time, the s3c24xx
and s3c64xx are now deprecated and expected to get removed in the future.
The PXA and OMAP1 bits are in a separate branch because of dependencies.
Once both branches are merged, only the three Intel StrongARM platforms
(RiscPC, Footbridge/NetWinder and StrongARM1100) need separate kernels,
and there are no plans to include these.

Not all of these drivers are needed on every ARCH_SUNXI platform. In
particular, the ARCH_SUNXI symbol will be reused for the Allwinner D1,
a RISC-V SoC which contains none of these irqchips.
Introduce Kconfig symbols so we can select only the drivers actually
used by a particular set of platforms. This also lets us move the
irqchip driver dependencies to a more appropriate location.

Choosing big-endian vs little-endian kernels in Kconfig has not worked
correctly since the introduction of CONFIG_ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM a long
time ago.
The problems is that CONFIG_BIG_ENDIAN depends on
ARCH_SUPPORTS_BIG_ENDIAN, which can set by any one platform
in the config, but would actually have to be supported by all
of them.
This was mostly ok for ARMv6/ARMv7 builds, since these are BE8 and
tend to just work aside from problems in nonportable device drivers.
For ARMv4/v5 machines, CONFIG_BIG_ENDIAN and CONFIG_ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM
were never set together, so this was disabled on all those machines
except for IXP4xx.
As IXP4xx can now become part of ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM, it seems better to
formalize this logic: all ARMv4/v5 platforms get an explicit dependency
on being either big-endian (ixp4xx) or little-endian (the rest). We may
want to fix ixp4xx in the future to support both, but it does not work
in LE mode at the moment.
For the ARMv6/v7 platforms, there are two ways this could be handled
a) allow both modes only for platforms selecting
'ARCH_SUPPORTS_BIG_ENDIAN' today, but only LE mode for the
others, given that these were added intentionally at some
point.
b) allow both modes everwhere, given that it was already possible
to build that way by e.g. selecting ARCH_VIRT, and that the
list is not an accurate reflection of which platforms may or
may not work.
Out of these, I picked b) because it seemed slighly more logical
to me.

The R_INTC in the A31 and newer sun8i/sun50i SoCs is more similar to the
original sun4i interrupt controller than the sun7i/sun9i NMI controller.
It is used for two distinct purposes:
- To control the trigger, latch, and mask for the NMI input pin
- To provide the interrupt input for the ARISC coprocessor
As this interrupt controller is not documented, information about it
comes from vendor-provided firmware blobs and from experimentation.
Differences from the sun4i interrupt controller appear to be:
- It only has one or two registers of each kind (max 32 or 64 IRQs)
- Multiplexing logic is added to support additional inputs
- There is no FIQ-related logic
- There is no interrupt priority logic
In order to fulfill its two purposes, this hardware block combines four
types of IRQs. First, the NMI pin is routed to the "IRQ 0" input on this
chip, with a trigger type controlled by the NMI_CTRL_REG. The "IRQ 0
pending" output from this chip, if enabled, is then routed to a SPI IRQ
input on the GIC. In other words, bit 0 of IRQ_ENABLE_REG *does* affect
the NMI IRQ seen at the GIC.
The NMI is followed by a contiguous block of 15 "direct" (my name for
them) IRQ inputs that are connected in parallel to both R_INTC and the
GIC. Or in other words, these bits of IRQ_ENABLE_REG *do not* affect the
IRQs seen at the GIC.
Following the direct IRQs are the ARISC's copy of banked IRQs for shared
peripherals. These are not relevant to Linux. The remaining IRQs are
connected to a multiplexer and provide access to the first (up to) 128
SPIs from the ARISC. This range of SPIs overlaps with the direct IRQs.
Because of the 1:1 correspondence between R_INTC and GIC inputs, this is
a perfect scenario for using a stacked irqchip driver. We want to hook
into setting the NMI trigger type, but not actually handle any IRQ here.
To allow access to all multiplexed IRQs, this driver requires a new
binding where the interrupt number matches the GIC interrupt number.
(This moves the NMI from number 0 to 32 or 96, depending on the SoC.)
For simplicity, copy the three-cell GIC binding; this disambiguates
interrupt 0 in the old binding (the NMI) from interrupt 0 in the new
binding (SPI 0) by the number of cells.
Since R_INTC is in the always-on power domain, and its output is visible
to the power management coprocessor, a stacked irqchip driver provides a
simple way to add wakeup support to any of its IRQs. That is the next
patch; for now, just the NMI is moved over.
This commit mostly reverts commit 173bda53b3 ("irqchip/sunxi-nmi:
Support sun6i-a31-r-intc compatible").

The multi-cluster SMP code maps the address spaces of several hardware
control blocks. The device nodes for them are SoC-specific. To help with
supporting other SoCs to re-use this code, these bits should be split
out to a separate function tied to the enable-method string.
This patch splits out and groups the device node lookup sequence, and

The BROM has a branch that checks if the primary core is hotplugging.
If the magic flag is set, execution jumps to the address set in the
software entry register. (Secondary cores always branch to the that

This patch sets the flags that makes BROM jump execution on the
primary core (cpu0) to the SMP software entry code when the core is

This patch adds common code used to power down all cores and clusters.
The code was previously based on the MCPM framework. It has now been
adapted to hook into struct smp_operations directly, but the code
structure still shows signs of prior work.
The primary core (cpu0) requires setting flags to have the BROM bounce
execution to the SMP software entry code. This is done in a subsequent
patch to keep the changes cleanly separated. By default the ARM SMP code
blocks cpu0 from being turned off, so splitting this out is safe.

Allwinner H2+ is a quad-core Cortex-A7 SoC.
It is very like H3, that they share the same SoC ID (0x1680), and H3
memory maps as well as drivers works well on the SoC.

The GR8 is an SoC made by Nextthing Co, loosely based on the sun5i family.
It has a number of new controllers compared to the A10s and A13 (SPDIF, I2S),
but some controllers missing too (Ethernet, less I2C, less UARTs).

With previous fixes to stmmac, sun4i-emac and sun4i-mmc at least the
Cubieboard2 incarnation of sunxi works correctly in big-endian mode.
Allow the selection of big-endian.
Tested using a Cubieboard2 DualCard and the following
hardware-components:
- GMAC (stmmac)
- EMAC (sun4i-emac)
- SATA
- SPI
- UART
- security system
- touchscreen controller hwmon functionality
- pinctrl (custom interrupt for SPI ethernet controller)
- watchdog as reset controller
- onboard RTC
- DS1307 I2C RTC
- sound codec and with this indirectly the DMA engine

This replaces:
- "select ARCH_REQUIRE_GPIOLIB" with "select GPIOLIB" as this can
now be selected directly.
- "select ARCH_WANT_OPTIONAL_GPIOLIB" with no dependency: GPIOLIB
is now selectable by everyone, so we need not declare our
intent to select it.
When ordering the symbols the following rationale was used:
if the selects were in alphabetical order, I moved select GPIOLIB
to be in alphabetical order, but if the selects were not
maintained in alphabetical order, I just replaced
"select ARCH_REQUIRE_GPIOLIB" with "select GPIOLIB".

Many ARM sub-architectures use prompts followed by "if" conditional,
but it is wrong.
Please notice the difference between
config ARCH_FOO
bool "Foo SoCs" if ARCH_MULTI_V7
and
config ARCH_FOO
bool "Foo SoCs"
depends on ARCH_MULTI_V7
These two are *not* equivalent!
In the former statement, it is not ARCH_FOO, but its prompt that
depends on ARCH_MULTI_V7. So, it is completely valid that ARCH_FOO
is selected by another, but ARCH_MULTI_V7 is still disabled. As it is
not unmet dependency, Kconfig never warns. This is probably not what
you want.
The former should be used only when you need to do so, and you really
understand what you are doing. (In most cases, it should be wrong!)
For enabling/disabling sub-architectures, the latter is always correct.
As a good side effect, this commit fixes some entries over 80 columns
(mach-imx, mach-integrator, mach-mbevu).
[Arnd: I note that there is not really a bug here, according to
the discussion that followed, but I can see value in being consistent
and in making the lines shorter]

The R8 is a new Allwinner SoC based on the A13. While both are very
similar, there's still a few differences. Introduce a new compatible to
deal with them.
In order to have a consistent naming, instead of mentioning the Allwinner
A series as the machine name, switch to sun4i/sun5i like what is done for
the other families.
