0e03be0626 ALSA: fireworks: fix wrong return count shorter than expected by 4 bytes
commit eb9d84b0ff upstream.

ALSA fireworks driver has a bug in its initial state to return count
shorter than expected by 4 bytes to userspace applications when handling
response frame for Echo Audio Fireworks transaction. It's due to missing
addition of the size for the type of event in ALSA firewire stack.

60e5d39180 ALSA: firewire-lib: fix uninitialized flag for AV/C deferred transaction
[ Upstream commit bf0cd60b7e ]

AV/C deferred transaction was supported at a commit 00a7bb81c2 ("ALSA:

flag can be uninitialized for non-control/notify AV/C transactions.

This commit fixes the bug. The bug has no disadvantage for the non-
control/notify AV/C transactions since the flag has an effect for AV/C
response with INTERIM (0x0f) status which is not used for the transactions
in AV/C general specification.

903e2d4526 ALSA: bebob: add support for ToneWeal FW66
[ Upstream commit 50ebe56222 ]

A user of FFADO project reported the issue of ToneWeal FW66. As a result,
the device is identified as one of applications of BeBoB solution.

I note that in the report the device returns contradictory result in plug
discovery process for audio subunit. Fortunately ALSA BeBoB driver doesn't
perform it thus it's likely to handle the device without issues.

I receive no reaction to test request for this patch yet, however it would
be worth to add support for it.

1a89fdc49f Revert "ALSA: bebob/oxfw: fix Kconfig entry for Mackie d.2 Pro"
[ Upstream commit 5d6fb80a14 ]

This reverts commit 0edabdfe89.

I've explained that optional FireWire card for d.2 is also built-in to
d.2 Pro, however it's wrong. The optional card uses DM1000 ASIC and has
'Mackie DJ Mixer' in its model name of configuration ROM. On the other
hand, built-in FireWire card for d.2 Pro and d.4 Pro uses OXFW971 ASIC
and has 'd.Pro' in its model name according to manuals and user
experiences. The former card is not the card for d.2 Pro. They are similar
in appearance but different internally.

0550a986f6 ALSA: bebob/oxfw: fix Kconfig entry for Mackie d.2 Pro
commit 0edabdfe89 upstream.

Mackie d.2 has an extension card for IEEE 1394 communication, which uses
BridgeCo DM1000 ASIC. On the other hand, Mackie d.4 Pro has built-in
function for IEEE 1394 communication by Oxford Semiconductor OXFW971,
according to schematic diagram available in Mackie website. Although I
misunderstood that Mackie d.2 Pro would be also a model with OXFW971,
it's wrong. Mackie d.2 Pro is a model which includes the extension card
as factory settings.

This commit fixes entries in Kconfig and comment in ALSA OXFW driver.

52b18cb684 ALSA: dice: fix stream format at middle sampling rate for Alesis iO 26
commit 1b6604896e upstream.

Alesis iO 26 FireWire has two pairs of digital optical interface. It
delivers PCM frames from the interfaces by second isochronous packet
streaming. Although both of the interfaces are available at 44.1/48.0
kHz, first one of them is only available at 88.2/96.0 kHz. It reduces
the number of PCM samples to 4 in Multi Bit Linear Audio data channel
of data blocks on the second isochronous packet streaming.

This commit fixes hardcoded stream formats.

e711b6e1c8 ALSA: firewire: Clean up a locking issue in copy_resp_to_buf()
commit 02a9c6ee41 upstream.

The spin_lock/unlock_irq() functions cannot be nested. The problem is
that presumably we would want the IRQs to be re-enabled on the second
call the spin_unlock_irq() but instead it will be enabled at the first
call so IRQs will be enabled earlier than expected.

In this situation the copy_resp_to_buf() function is only called from
one function and it is called with IRQs disabled. We can just use
the regular spin_lock/unlock() functions.

9244e838ac ALSA; firewire-tascam: exclude Tascam FE-8 from detection
Tascam FE-8 is known to support communication by asynchronous transaction
only. The support can be implemented in userspace application and
snd-firewire-ctl-services project has the support. However, ALSA
firewire-tascam driver is bound to the model.

This commit changes device entries so that the model is excluded. In a
commit 53b3ffee78 ("ALSA: firewire-tascam: change device probing

configuration differs depending on installed firmware. However, as long
as I checked, the version number is fixed. It's safe to return version
number back to modalias.

2e21e5b225 ALSA: firewire-tascam: check intermediate state of clock status and retry
commit e1a00b5b25 upstream.

2 bytes in MSB of register for clock status is zero during intermediate
state after changing status of sampling clock in models of TASCAM FireWire
series. The duration of this state differs depending on cases. During the
state, it's better to retry reading the register for current status of
the clock.

In current implementation, the intermediate state is checked only when
getting current sampling transmission frequency, then retry reading.
This care is required for the other operations to read the register.

This commit moves the codes of check and retry into helper function
commonly used for operations to read the register.

6241c0ac30 ALSA: firewire-motu: add support for MOTU 4pre
[ Upstream commit 6af86bdb8a ]

MOTU 4pre was launched in 2012 by MOTU, Inc. This commit allows userspace
applications can transmit and receive PCM frames and MIDI messages for
this model via ALSA PCM interface and RawMidi/Sequencer interfaces.

The device supports MOTU protocol version 3. Unlike the other devices, the
device is simply designed. The size of data block is fixed to 10 quadlets
during available sampling rates (44.1 - 96.0 kHz). Each data block
includes 1 source packet header, 2 data chunks for messages, 8 data chunks
for PCM samples and 2 data chunks for padding to quadlet alignment. The
device has no MIDI, optical, BNC and AES/EBU interfaces.

Like support for the other MOTU devices, the quality of playback sound
is not enough good with periodical noise yet.

866a1a7e9f ALSA: dice: fix wrong packet parameter for Alesis iO26
commit 3a9236e972 upstream.

At higher sampling rate (e.g. 192.0 kHz), Alesis iO26 transfers 4 data
channels per data block in CIP.

Both iO14 and iO26 have the same contents in their configuration ROM.
For this reason, ALSA Dice driver attempts to distinguish them according
to the value of TX0_AUDIO register at probe callback. Although the way is
valid at lower and middle sampling rate, it's lastly invalid at higher
sampling rate because because the two models returns the same value for
read transaction to the register.

In the most cases, users just plug-in the device and ALSA dice driver
detects it. In the case, the device runs at lower sampling rate and
the driver detects expectedly. For this reason, this commit leaves the
way to detect as is.

3663bf2baa ALSA: firewire-lib/fireworks: fix miss detection of received MIDI messages
commit 7fbd1753b6 upstream.

In IEC 61883-6, 8 MIDI data streams are multiplexed into single
MIDI conformant data channel. The index of stream is calculated by
modulo 8 of the value of data block counter.

In fireworks, the value of data block counter in CIP header has a quirk
with firmware version v5.0.0, v5.7.3 and v5.8.0. This brings ALSA
IEC 61883-1/6 packet streaming engine to miss detection of MIDI
messages.

This commit fixes the miss detection to modify the value of data block
counter for the modulo calculation.

For maintainers, this bug exists since a commit 18f5ed365d ("ALSA:
fireworks/firewire-lib: add support for recent firmware quirk") in Linux
kernel v4.2. There're many changes since the commit. This fix can be
backported to Linux kernel v4.4 or later. I tagged a base commit to the
backport for your convenience.

Besides, my work for Linux kernel v5.3 brings heavy code refactoring and
some structure members are renamed in 'sound/firewire/amdtp-stream.h'.
The content of this patch brings conflict when merging -rc tree with
this patch and the latest tree. I request maintainers to solve the
conflict to replace 'tx_first_dbc' with 'ctx_data.tx.first_dbc'.

2b20c29bcd ALSA: dice: add support for Solid State Logic Duende Classic/Mini
[ Upstream commit b2e9e1c881 ]

Duende Classic was produced by Solid State Logic in 2006, as a
first model of Duende DSP series. The following model, Duende Mini
was produced in 2008. They are designed to receive isochronous
packets for PCM frames via IEEE 1394 bus, perform signal processing by
downloaded program, then transfer isochronous packets for converted
PCM frames.

These two models includes the same embedded board, consists of several
ICs below:
 - Texus Instruments Inc, TSB41AB3 for physical layer of IEEE 1394 bus
 - WaveFront semiconductor, DICE II STD ASIC for link/protocol layer
 - Altera MAX 3000A CPLD for programs
 - Analog devices, SHARC ADSP-21363 for signal processing (4 chips)

This commit adds support for the two models to ALSA dice driver. Like
support for the other devices, packet streaming is just available.
Userspace applications should be developed if full features became
available; e.g. program uploader and parameter controller.

6339cc5181 ALSA: firewire-motu: use 'version' field of unit directory to identify model
commit 2d012c65a9 upstream.

Current ALSA firewire-motu driver uses the value of 'model' field
of unit directory in configuration ROM for modalias for MOTU
FireWire models. However, as long as I checked, Pre8 and
828mk3(Hybrid) have the same value for the field (=0x100800).

unit | version | model
--------------- | --------- | ----------
828mkII | 0x000003 | 0x101800
Traveler | 0x000009 | 0x107800
Pre8 | 0x00000f | 0x100800 <-
828mk3(FW) | 0x000015 | 0x106800
AudioExpress | 0x000033 | 0x104800
828mk3(Hybrid) | 0x000035 | 0x100800 <-

When updating firmware for MOTU 8pre FireWire from v1.0.0 to v1.0.3,
I got change of the value from 0x100800 to 0x103800. On the other
hand, the value of 'version' field is fixed to 0x00000f. As a quick
glance, the higher 12 bits of the value of 'version' field represent
firmware version, while the lower 12 bits is unknown.

By induction, the value of 'version' field represents actual model.

This commit changes modalias to match the value of 'version' field,
instead of 'model' field. For degug, long name of added sound card
includes hexadecimal value of 'model' field.

8b2d663975 ALSA: firewire-motu: fix construction of PCM frame for capture direction
commit f97a0944a7 upstream.

In data blocks of common isochronous packet for MOTU devices, PCM
frames are multiplexed in a shape of '24 bit * 4 Audio Pack', described
in IEC 61883-6. The frames are not aligned to quadlet.

For capture PCM substream, ALSA firewire-motu driver constructs PCM
frames by reading data blocks byte-by-byte. However this operation
includes bug for lower byte of the PCM sample. This brings invalid
content of the PCM samples.

959bf5c190 ALSA: bebob: fix model-id of unit for Apogee Ensemble
[ Upstream commit 644b2e9740 ]

This commit fixes hard-coded model-id for an unit of Apogee Ensemble with
a correct value. This unit uses DM1500 ASIC produced ArchWave AG (formerly
known as BridgeCo AG).

I note that this model supports three modes in the number of data channels
in tx/rx streams; 8 ch pairs, 10 ch pairs, 18 ch pairs. The mode is
switched by Vendor-dependent AV/C command, like:

$ cd linux-firewire-utils
$ ./firewire-request /dev/fw1 fcp 0x00ff000003dbeb0600000000 (8ch pairs)
$ ./firewire-request /dev/fw1 fcp 0x00ff000003dbeb0601000000 (10ch pairs)
$ ./firewire-request /dev/fw1 fcp 0x00ff000003dbeb0602000000 (18ch pairs)

When switching between different mode, the unit disappears from IEEE 1394
bus, then appears on the bus with different combination of stream formats.
In a mode of 18 ch pairs, available sampling rate is up to 96.0 kHz, else
up to 192.0 kHz.

commit 5ef108c53e upstream.

An initial commit to add tracepoints for packets without CIP headers
uses different print formats for added tracepoints. However this is not
convenient for users/developers to prepare debug tools.

This commit uses the same format for the two tracepoints.

438b267058 ALSA: firewire-lib: fix wrong handling payload_length as payload_quadlet
commit ada79fa5a0 upstream.

In IEC 61883-1/6 engine of ALSA firewire stack, a packet handler has a
second argument for 'the number of bytes in payload of isochronous
packet'. However, an incoming packet handler without CIP header uses the
value as 'the number of quadlets in the payload'. This brings userspace
applications to receive the number of PCM frames as four times against
real time.

493626f2d8 ALSA: bebob: use address returned by kmalloc() instead of kernel stack for streaming DMA mapping
When executing 'fw_run_transaction()' with 'TCODE_WRITE_BLOCK_REQUEST',
an address of 'payload' argument is used for streaming DMA mapping by

Although in this case the address should not be on kernel stack, current
implementation of ALSA bebob driver uses data in kernel stack for a cue
to boot M-Audio devices. This often brings unexpected result, especially
for a case of CONFIG_VMAP_STACK=y.

fa84cf094e ALSA: pcm: Nuke snd_pcm_lib_mmap_vmalloc()
snd_pcm_lib_mmap_vmalloc() was supposed to be implemented with
somewhat special for vmalloc handling, but in the end, this turned to
just the default handler, i.e. NULL. As the situation has never
changed over decades, let's rip it off.

6c5e1ac0e1 ALSA: firewire-motu: add support for Motu Traveler
This commit adds support for MOTU Traveler, launched in 2005, discontinued
quite before. As a result, transmission of PCM frame and MIDI messages is
available via ALSA PCM and RawMIDI/Sequencer interfaces.

This model supports sampling transmission frequency up to 192.0 kHz, and
AES/EBU on XLR interface and ADAT on optical interface. Unlike
Motu 828MkII, Windows driver can switch fetching mode for DSP, like
mute/unmute feature.

Although this commit enables high sampling transmission frequency, actual
sound from this model is not good. As long as I tested, it's silence at
176.4 kHz, and it includes hissing noise at 192.0 kHz. In my opinion, as I
reported at 3526ce7f9ba7 ('ALSA: firewire-motu: add MOTU specific protocol
layer'), timestamping on source packet header (SPH) may not still be good
for this model as well.
