msg_zerocopy signals if a send operation required copying with a flag
in serr->ee.ee_code.
This field can be incorrect as of the below commit, as a result of
both structs uarg and serr pointing into the same skb->cb[].
uarg->zerocopy must be read before skb->cb[] is reinitialized to hold
serr. Similar to other fields len, hi and lo, use a local variable to
temporarily hold the value.
This was not a problem before, when the value was passed as a function
argument.

Cited commit started returning errors when notification info is not
filled by the bridge driver, resulting in the following regression:
# ip link add name br1 type bridge vlan_filtering 1
# bridge vlan add dev br1 vid 555 self pvid untagged
RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument
As long as the bridge driver does not fill notification info for the
bridge device itself, an empty notification should not be considered as
an error. This is explained in commit 59ccaaaa49 ("bridge: dont send
notification when skb->len == 0 in rtnl_bridge_notify").
Fix by removing the error and add a comment to avoid future bugs.

We can't easily extend the socket lock scope to avoid the race,

Syzbot reports that when you have AP_VLAN interfaces that are up
and close the AP interface they belong to, we get a deadlock. No
surprise - since we dev_close() them with the wiphy mutex held,
which goes back into the netdev notifier in cfg80211 and tries to
acquire the wiphy mutex there.
To fix this, we need to do two things:
1) prevent changing iftype while AP_VLANs are up, we can't
easily fix this case since cfg80211 already calls us with
the wiphy mutex held, but change_interface() is relatively
rare in drivers anyway, so changing iftype isn't used much
(and userspace has to fall back to down/change/up anyway)
2) pull the dev_close() loop over VLANs out of the wiphy mutex
section in the normal stop case

IFF_POINTOPOINT interfaces use NUD_NOARP entries for IPv6. It's possible to
fill up the neighbour table with enough entries that it will overflow for
valid connections after that.
This behaviour is more prevalent after commit 58956317c8 ("neighbor:

entries that are not NUD_FAILED, unless they are more than 5s old.

Up to now several high speed NICs have custom mechanisms of recycling
the allocated memory they use for their payloads.
Our page_pool API already has recycling capabilities that are always
used when we are running in 'XDP mode'. So let's tweak the API and the
kernel network stack slightly and allow the recycling to happen even
during the standard operation.
The API doesn't take into account 'split page' policies used by those
drivers currently, but can be extended once we have users for that.
The idea is to be able to intercept the packet on skb_release_data().
If it's a buffer coming from our page_pool API recycle it back to the
pool for further usage or just release the packet entirely.
To achieve that we introduce a bit in struct sk_buff (pp_recycle:1) and
a field in struct page (page->pp) to store the page_pool pointer.
Storing the information in page->pp allows us to recycle both SKBs and
their fragments.
We could have skipped the skb bit entirely, since identical information
can bederived from struct page. However, in an effort to affect the free path
as less as possible, reading a single bit in the skb which is already
in cache, is better that trying to derive identical information for the
page stored data.
The driver or page_pool has to take care of the sync operations on it's own
during the buffer recycling since the buffer is, after opting-in to the
recycling, never unmapped.
Since the gain on the drivers depends on the architecture, we are not
enabling recycling by default if the page_pool API is used on a driver.
In order to enable recycling the driver must call skb_mark_for_recycle()

This is needed by the page_pool to avoid recycling a page not allocated
via page_pool.
The page->signature field is aliased to page->lru.next and
page->compound_head, but it can't be set by mistake because the
signature value is a bad pointer, and can't trigger a false positive
in PageTail() because the last bit is 0.

This nfnl subsystem allows to dump the list of all active netfiler hooks,
e.g. defrag, conntrack, nf/ip/arp/ip6tables and so on.
This helps to see what kind of features are currently enabled in

Replace nft_ctx_init_from_setattr() by nft_table_lookup().
This patch also disentangles nf_tables_delset() where NFTA_SET_TABLE is
required while nft_ctx_init_from_setattr() allows it to be optional.
From the nf_tables_delset() path, this also allows to set up the context
structure when it is needed.
Removing this helper function saves us 14 LoC, so it is not helping to
consolidate code.

The commit ae81feb733 ("sch_htb: fix null pointer dereference
on a null new_q") fixes a NULL pointer dereference bug, but it
is not correct.
Because htb_graft_helper properly handles the case when new_q
is NULL, and after the previous patch by skipping this call
which creates an inconsistency : dev_queue->qdisc will still
point to the old qdisc, but cl->parent->leaf.q will point to
the new one (which will be noop_qdisc, because new_q was NULL).
The code is based on an assumption that these two pointers are
the same, so it can lead to refcount leaks.
The correct fix is to add a NULL pointer check to protect
qdisc_refcount_inc inside htb_parent_to_leaf_offload.

Including <linux/in.h> and <netinet/in.h> in the dependencies breaks
compilation of trinity due to multiple definitions. <linux/in.h> is only
used in <linux/icmp.h> to provide the definition of the struct in_addr,
but this can be substituted out by using the datatype __be32.

This time we have fixes for the ieee802154 netlink code, as well as a driver
fix. Zhen Lei, Wei Yongjun and Yang Li each had a patch to cleanup some return
code handling ensuring we actually get a real error code when things fails.
Dan Robertson fixed a potential null dereference in our netlink handling.
Andy Shevchenko removed of_match_ptr()usage in the mrf24j40 driver.

This patch aims to improve the situation when reordering and loss are
ocurring in the same flight of packets.
Previously the reordering would first induce a spurious recovery, then
the subsequent ACK may undo the cwnd (based on the timestamps e.g.).
However the current loss recovery does not proceed to invoke
RACK to install a reordering timer. If some packets are also lost, this
may lead to a long RTO-based recovery. An example is
https://groups.google.com/g/bbr-dev/c/OFHADvJbTEI
The solution is to after reverting the recovery, always invoke RACK
to either mount the RACK timer to fast retransmit after the reordering
window, or restarts the recovery if new loss is identified. Hence
it is possible the sender may go from Recovery to Disorder/Open to
Recovery again in one ACK.

We introduce a new macro TIPC_ANY_SCOPE to make the handling of the
lookup scope value more comprehensible during multicast reception.
The (unchanged) rules go as follows:
1) Multicast messages sent from own node are delivered to all matching
sockets on the own node, irrespective of their binding scope.
2) Multicast messages sent from other nodes arrive here because they
have found TIPC_CLUSTER_SCOPE bindings emanating from this node.
Those messages should be delivered to exactly those sockets, but not
to local sockets bound with TIPC_NODE_SCOPE, since the latter
obviously were not meant to be visible for those senders.
3) Group multicast/broadcast messages are delivered to the sockets with
a binding scope matching exactly the lookup scope indicated in the
message header, and nobody else.

mlx5 devices were observed generating MLX5_PORT_CHANGE_SUBTYPE_ACTIVE
events without an intervening MLX5_PORT_CHANGE_SUBTYPE_DOWN. This
breaks link flap detection based on Linux carrier state transition
count as netif_carrier_on() does nothing if carrier is already on.
Make sure we count such events.
netif_carrier_event() increments the counters and fires the linkwatch
events. The latter is not necessary for the use case but seems like
the right thing to do.

Refactor DEVLINK_CMD_RATE_{GET|SET} command handlers to support setting
a node as a parent for another rate object (leaf or node) by means of
new attribute DEVLINK_ATTR_RATE_PARENT_NODE_NAME. Extend devlink ops
with new callbacks rate_{leaf|node}_parent_set() to set node as a parent
for rate object to allow supporting drivers to implement rate grouping
through devlink. Driver implementations are allowed to support leafs
or node children only. Invoking callback with NULL as parent should be
threated by the driver as unset parent action.
Extend rate object struct with reference counter to disallow deleting a
node with any child pointing to it. User should unset parent for the
child explicitly.
Example:
$ devlink port function rate add netdevsim/netdevsim10/group1
$ devlink port function rate add netdevsim/netdevsim10/group2

rate_node_{new|del}() and rate_node_tx_{share|max}_set() to allow
supporting drivers to implement ports rate grouping and setting tx rate
of rate nodes through devlink.
Expose devlink_rate_nodes_destroy() function to allow vendor driver do
proper cleanup of internally allocated resources for the nodes if the
driver goes down or due to any other reasons which requires nodes to be
destroyed.

The batadv_hardif_enable_interface is now only called from the callback
ndo_add_slave. This callback is only used by do_set_master in the rtnetlink
code which only does two things:
1. remove the net_device from its old master
2. add the net_device to its new batadv master

since the sysfs code was dropped.

The sysfs code for the batman-adv/mesh_iface file was receiving a string of
the batadv interface. This interface name was then provided to the code
which shared sysfs+rtnetlink code for attaching an hard-interface to an
batadv interface. The rtnetlink code was also using the (extracted)
interface name from the ndo_add_slave callback to increase the shared code
- even when it would have been more efficient to use the provided
net_device object directly instead of searching it again (based on its
name) in batadv_hardif_enable_interface.
But this indirect handling is no longer necessary because the sysfs code
was dropped. There is now only a single code path which is using

Add the ct helper extension only for unconfirmed conntrack. Skip rule
evaluation if the ct helper extension does not exist. Thus, you can
only create expectations from the first packet.
It should be possible to remove this limitation by adding a new action
to attach a generic ct helper to the first packet. Then, use this ct
helper extension from follow up packets to create the ct expectation.
While at it, add a missing check to skip the template conntrack too
and remove check for IPCT_UNTRACK which is implicit to !ct.

Currently vlan modification action checks existence of vlan priority by
comparing it to 0. Therefore it is impossible to modify existing vlan
tag to have priority 0.
For example, the following tc command will change the vlan id but will
not affect vlan priority:
tc filter add dev eth1 ingress matchall action vlan modify id 300 \
priority 0 pipe mirred egress redirect dev eth2
The incoming packet on eth1:
ethertype 802.1Q (0x8100), vlan 200, p 4, ethertype IPv4
will be changed to:
ethertype 802.1Q (0x8100), vlan 300, p 4, ethertype IPv4
although the user has intended to have p == 0.
The fix is to add tcfv_push_prio_exists flag to struct tcf_vlan_params
and rely on it when deciding to set the priority.

When a netdev with active TLS offload goes down, tls_device_down is
called to stop the offload and tear down the TLS context. However, the
socket stays alive, and it still points to the TLS context, which is now
deallocated. If a netdev goes up, while the connection is still active,
and the data flow resumes after a number of TCP retransmissions, it will
lead to a use-after-free of the TLS context.
This commit addresses this bug by keeping the context alive until its
normal destruction, and implements the necessary fallbacks, so that the
connection can resume in software (non-offloaded) kTLS mode.
On the TX side tls_sw_fallback is used to encrypt all packets. The RX
side already has all the necessary fallbacks, because receiving
non-decrypted packets is supported. The thing needed on the RX side is
to block resync requests, which are normally produced after receiving
non-decrypted packets.
The necessary synchronization is implemented for a graceful teardown:
first the fallbacks are deployed, then the driver resources are released
(it used to be possible to have a tls_dev_resync after tls_dev_del).
A new flag called TLS_RX_DEV_DEGRADED is added to indicate the fallback
mode. It's used to skip the RX resync logic completely, as it becomes
useless, and some objects may be released (for example, resync_async,
which is allocated and freed by the driver).

This is a complement to commit aa6dd211e4 ("inet: use bigger hash
table for IP ID generation"), but focusing on some specific aspects
of IPv6.
Contary to IPv4, IPv6 only uses packet IDs with fragments, and with a
minimum MTU of 1280, it's much less easy to force a remote peer to
produce many fragments to explore its ID sequence. In addition packet
IDs are 32-bit in IPv6, which further complicates their analysis. On
the other hand, it is often easier to choose among plenty of possible
source addresses and partially work around the bigger hash table the
commit above permits, which leaves IPv6 partially exposed to some
possibilities of remote analysis at the risk of weakening some
protocols like DNS if some IDs can be predicted with a good enough
probability.
Given the wide range of permitted IDs, the risk of collision is extremely
low so there's no need to rely on the positive increment algorithm that
is shared with the IPv4 code via ip_idents_reserve(). We have a fast
PRNG, so let's simply call prandom_u32() and be done with it.
Performance measurements at 10 Gbps couldn't show any difference with
the previous code, even when using a single core, because due to the
large fragments, we're limited to only ~930 kpps at 10 Gbps and the cost
of the random generation is completely offset by other operations and by
the network transfer time. In addition, this change removes the need to
update a shared entry in the idents table so it may even end up being
slightly faster on large scale systems where this matters.
The risk of at least one collision here is about 1/80 million among
10 IDs, 1/850k among 100 IDs, and still only 1/8.5k among 1000 IDs,
which remains very low compared to IPv4 where all IDs are reused
every 4 to 80ms on a 10 Gbps flow depending on packet sizes.

The commit cb17ed29a7 ("mac80211: parse radiotap header when selecting Tx
queue") moved the code to validate the radiotap header from
ieee80211_monitor_start_xmit to ieee80211_parse_tx_radiotap. This made is
possible to share more code with the new Tx queue selection code for
injected frames. But at the same time, it now required the call of
ieee80211_parse_tx_radiotap at the beginning of functions which wanted to
handle the radiotap header. And this broke the rate parser for radiotap
header parser.
The radiotap parser for rates is operating most of the time only on the
data in the actual radiotap header. But for the 802.11a/b/g rates, it must
also know the selected band from the chandef information. But this
information is only written to the ieee80211_tx_info at the end of the
ieee80211_monitor_start_xmit - long after ieee80211_parse_tx_radiotap was
already called. The info->band information was therefore always 0
(NL80211_BAND_2GHZ) when the parser code tried to access it.
For a 5GHz only device, injecting a frame with 802.11a rates would cause a
NULL pointer dereference because local->hw.wiphy->bands[NL80211_BAND_2GHZ]
would most likely have been NULL when the radiotap parser searched for the
correct rate index of the driver.

If the userland switches back-and-forth between NL80211_IFTYPE_OCB and
NL80211_IFTYPE_ADHOC via send_msg(NL80211_CMD_SET_INTERFACE), there is a
chance where the cleanup cfg80211_leave_ocb() is not called. This leads
to initialization of in-use memory (e.g. init u.ibss while in-use by
u.ocb) due to a shared struct/union within ieee80211_sub_if_data:
struct ieee80211_sub_if_data {

union {

struct ieee80211_if_vlan vlan;
struct ieee80211_if_managed mgd;

struct ieee80211_if_ocb ocb; // <- shares address
struct ieee80211_if_mntr mntr;
struct ieee80211_if_nan nan;

Therefore add handling of otype == NL80211_IFTYPE_OCB, during
cfg80211_change_iface() to perform cleanup when leaving OCB mode.

This adds support for routable IPv4 multicast addresses
(224.0.0.0/4, excluding 224.0.0.0/24) in bridged setups.
This utilizes the Multicast Router Discovery (MRD, RFC4286) support
in the Linux bridge. batman-adv will now query the Linux bridge for
IPv4 multicast routers, which the bridge has previously learned about
via MRD.
This allows us to then safely send routable IPv4 multicast packets in
bridged setups to multicast listeners and multicast routers only. Before
we had to flood such packets to avoid potential multicast packet loss to
IPv4 multicast routers, which we were not able to detect before.
With the bridge MRD integration, we are now also able to perform more
fine-grained detection of IPv6 multicast routers in bridged setups:
Before we were "guessing" IPv6 multicast routers by looking up multicast
listeners for the link-local All Routers multicast address (ff02::2),
which every IPv6 multicast router is listening to. However this would
also include more nodes than necessary: For instance nodes which are
just a router for unicast, but not multicast would be included, too.

In subflow_syn_recv_sock() we currently skip options parsing
for OoO packet, given that such packets may not carry the relevant
MPC option.
If the peer generates an MPC+data TSO packet and some of the early
segments are lost or get reorder, we server will ignore the peer key,
causing transient, unexpected fallback to TCP.
The solution is always parsing the incoming MPTCP options, and
do the fallback only for in-order packets. This actually cleans
the existing code a bit.

MPTCP sk_forward_memory handling is a bit special, as such field
is protected by the msk socket spin_lock, instead of the plain
socket lock.
Currently we have a code path updating such field without handling
the relevant lock:
__mptcp_retrans() -> __mptcp_clean_una_wakeup()
Several helpers in __mptcp_clean_una_wakeup() will update
sk_forward_alloc, possibly causing such field corruption, as reported
by Matthieu.
Address the issue providing and using a new variant of blamed function
which explicitly acquires the msk spin lock.

We don't need a valid MXCSR state for the lookup routines, none of
the instructions we use rely on or affect any bit in the MXCSR
register.
Instead of calling kernel_fpu_begin(), we can pass 0 as mask to
kernel_fpu_begin_mask() and spare one LDMXCSR instruction.
Commit 49200d17d2 ("x86/fpu/64: Don't FNINIT in kernel_fpu_begin()")
already speeds up lookups considerably, and by dropping the MCXSR
initialisation we can now get a much smaller, but measurable, increase
in matching rates.
The table below reports matching rates and a wild approximation of
clock cycles needed for a match in a "port,net" test with 10 entries
from selftests/netfilter/nft_concat_range.sh, limited to the first
field, i.e. the port (with nft_set_rbtree initialisation skipped), run
on a single AMD Epyc 7351 thread (2.9GHz, 512 KiB L1D$, 8 MiB L2$).
The (very rough) estimation of clock cycles is obtained by simply
dividing frequency by matching rate. The "cycles spared" column refers
to the difference in cycles compared to the previous row, and the rate
increase also refers to the previous row. Results are averages of six
runs.
Merely for context, I'm also reporting packet rates obtained by
skipping kernel_fpu_begin() and kernel_fpu_end() altogether (which
shows a very limited impact now), as well as skipping the whole lookup
function, compared to simply counting and dropping all packets using
the netdev hook drop (see nft_concat_range.sh for details). This
workload also includes packet generation with pktgen and the receive
path of veth.
|matching| est. | cycles | rate |
| rate | cycles | spared |increase|
| (Mpps) | | | |
--------------------------------------|--------|--------|--------|--------|
FNINIT, LDMXCSR (before 49200d17d2) | 5.245 | 553 | - | - |
LDMXCSR only (with 49200d17d2) | 6.347 | 457 | 96 | 21.0% |
Without LDMXCSR (this patch) | 6.461 | 449 | 8 | 1.8% |
-------- for reference only: ---------|--------|--------|--------|--------|
Without kernel_fpu_begin() | 6.513 | 445 | 4 | 0.8% |
Without actual matching (return true) | 7.649 | 379 | 66 | 17.4% |
Without lookup operation (netdev drop)| 10.320 | 281 | 98 | 34.9% |
The clock cycles spared by avoiding LDMXCSR appear to be in line with CPI
and latency indicated in the manuals of comparable architectures: Intel
Skylake (CPI: 1, latency: 7) and AMD 12h (latency: 12) -- I couldn't find
this information for AMD 17h.

Chunks are SCTP header extensions similar in implementation to IPv6
extension headers or TCP options. Reusing exthdr expression to find and
extract field values from them is therefore pretty straightforward.
For now, this supports extracting data from chunks at a fixed offset
(and length) only - chunks themselves are an extensible data structure;
in order to make all fields available, a nested extension search is
needed.

Fix current behavior of skipping template allocation in case the
ct action is in zone 0.
Skipping the allocation may cause the datapath ct code to ignore the
entire ct action with all its attributes (commit, nat) in case the ct
action in zone 0 was preceded by a ct clear action.
The ct clear action sets the ct_state to untracked and resets the
skb->_nfct pointer. Under these conditions and without an allocated
ct template, the skb->_nfct pointer will remain NULL which will
cause the tc ct action handler to exit without handling commit and nat
actions, if such exist.
For example, the following rule in OVS dp:
recirc_id(0x2),ct_state(+new-est-rel-rpl+trk),ct_label(0/0x1), \
in_port(eth0),actions:ct_clear,ct(commit,nat(src=10.11.0.12)), \
recirc(0x37a)
Will result in act_ct skipping the commit and nat actions in zone 0.
The change removes the skipping of template allocation for zone 0 and
treats it the same as any other zone.

Physical port name, port number attributes do not belong to virtual port
flavour. When VF or SF virtual ports are registered they incorrectly
append "np0" string in the netdevice name of the VF/SF.
Before this fix, VF netdevice name were ens2f0np0v0, ens2f0np0v1 for VF
0 and 1 respectively.
After the fix, they are ens2f0v0, ens2f0v1.
With this fix, reading /sys/class/net/ens2f0v0/phys_port_name returns
-EOPNOTSUPP.
Also devlink port show example for 2 VFs on one PF to ensure that any
physical port attributes are not exposed.
$ devlink port show

pci/0000:06:00.4/262144: type eth netdev ens2f0v1 flavour virtual splittable false
This change introduces a netdevice name change on systemd/udev
version 245 and higher which honors phys_port_name sysfs file for
generation of netdevice name.
This also aligns to phys_port_name usage which is limited to switchdev
ports as described in [1].

Commit 9ed5af268e ("SUNRPC: Clean up the handling of page padding
in rpc_prepare_reply_pages()") [Dec 2020] affects RPC Replies that
have a data payload (i.e., Write chunks).
rpcrdma_prepare_readch(), as its name suggests, sets up Read chunks
which are data payloads within RPC Calls. Those payloads are
constructed by xdr_write_pages(), which continues to stuff the call
buffer's tail kvec with the payload's XDR roundup. Thus removing
the tail buffer logic in rpcrdma_prepare_readch() was the wrong
thing to do.

This patch adds two flags BPF_F_BROADCAST and BPF_F_EXCLUDE_INGRESS to
extend xdp_redirect_map for broadcast support.
With BPF_F_BROADCAST the packet will be broadcasted to all the interfaces
in the map. with BPF_F_EXCLUDE_INGRESS the ingress interface will be
excluded when do broadcasting.
When getting the devices in dev hash map via dev_map_hash_get_next_key(),
there is a possibility that we fall back to the first key when a device
was removed. This will duplicate packets on some interfaces. So just walk
the whole buckets to avoid this issue. For dev array map, we also walk the
whole map to find valid interfaces.
Function bpf_clear_redirect_map() was removed in
commit ee75aef23a ("bpf, xdp: Restructure redirect actions").
Add it back as we need to use ri->map again.

when Linux receives an echo-ed ADD_ADDR, it checks the IP address against
the list of "announced" addresses. In case of a positive match, the timer
that handles retransmissions is stopped regardless of the 'Address Id' in
the received packet: this behaviour does not comply with RFC8684 3.4.1.
Fix it by validating the 'Address Id' in received echo-ed ADD_ADDRs.
Tested using packetdrill, with the following captured output:

We can't use tcp_set_congestion_control() on an mptcp socket, as
such function can end-up accessing a tcp-specific field -
prior_ssthresh - causing an OOB access.
To allow propagating the correct ca algo on subflow, cache the ca
name at initialization time.

Commit 2e9f60932a ("net: hsr: check skb can contain struct hsr_ethhdr
in fill_frame_info") added the following which resulted in -EINVAL
always being returned:
if (skb->mac_len < sizeof(struct hsr_ethhdr))
return -EINVAL;
mac_len was not being set correctly so this check completely broke
HSR/PRP since it was always 14, not 20.
Set mac_len correctly and modify the mac_len checks to test in the
correct places since sometimes it is legitimately 14.

The dormant flag need to be updated from the preparation phase,
otherwise, two consecutive requests to dorm a table in the same batch
might try to remove the same hooks twice, resulting in the following
warning:
hook not found, pf 3 num 0

This patch is a partial revert of 0ce7cf4127 ("netfilter: nftables:
update table flags from the commit phase") to restore the previous
behaviour.
However, there is still another problem: A batch containing a series of
dorm-wakeup-dorm table and vice-versa also trigger the warning above
since hook unregistration happens from the preparation phase, while hook
registration occurs from the commit phase.
To fix this problem, this patch adds two internal flags to annotate the
original dormant flag status which are __NFT_TABLE_F_WAS_DORMANT and
__NFT_TABLE_F_WAS_AWAKEN, to restore it from the abort path.
The __NFT_TABLE_F_UPDATE bitmask allows to handle the dormant flag update
with one single transaction.

the patch that fixed an endless loop in_fq_pie_init() was not considering
that 65535 is a valid class id. The correct bugfix for this infinite loop
is to change 'idx' to become an u32, like Colin proposed in the past [1].
Fix this as follows:
- restore 65536 as maximum possible values of 'flows_cnt'
- use u32 'idx' when iterating on 'q->flows'
- fix the TDC selftest
This reverts commit bb2f930d6d.

When TCP is used as transport and a program on the
system connects to RDS port 16385, connection is
accepted but denied per the rules of RDS. However,
RDS connections object is left in the list. Next
loopback connection will select that connection
object as it is at the head of list. The connection
attempt will hang as the connection object is set
to connect over TCP which is not allowed
The issue can be reproduced easily, use rds-ping
to ping a local IP address. After that use any
program like ncat to connect to the same IP
address and port 16385. This will hang so ctrl-c out.
Now try rds-ping, it will hang.
To fix the issue this patch adds checks to disallow
the connection object creation and destroys the
connection object.

Users that forget to select the NAT chain type in netfilter's Kconfig
hit ENOENT when adding the basechain.
This report is however sparse since it might be the table, the chain
or the kernel module that is missing/does not exist.
This patch provides extended netlink error reporting for the
NFTA_CHAIN_TYPE netlink attribute, which conveys the basechain type.
If the user selects a basechain that his custom kernel does not support,
the netlink extended error provides a more accurate hint on the
described issue.

the veth peer device will cause skb->data to point to the middle of the
IP header on entry to tcp_v4_rcv() since the L2 header is not pulled
correctly due to mac_len=0.

The majority here is the fallout of the umn.edu re-review of all prior
submissions. That resulted in a bunch of reverts along with the
"correct" changes made, such that there is no regression of any of the
potential fixes that were made by those individuals. I would like to
thank the over 80 different developers who helped with the review and

Other than that, there's a few habanna driver fixes for reported issues,

If sunrpc.tcp_max_slot_table_entries is small and there are tasks
on the backlog queue, then when a request completes it is freed and the
first task on the queue is woken. The expectation is that it will wake
and claim that request. However if it was a sync task and the waiting
process was killed at just that moment, it will wake and NOT claim the
request.
As long as TASK_CONGESTED remains set, requests can only be claimed by
tasks woken from the backlog, and they are woken only as requests are
freed, so when a task doesn't claim a request, no other task can ever
get that request until TASK_CONGESTED is cleared. Each time this
happens the number of available requests is decreased by one.
With a sufficiently high workload and sufficiently low setting of
max_slot (16 in the case where this was seen), TASK_CONGESTED can remain
set for an extended period, and the above scenario (of a process being
killed just as its task was woken) can repeat until no requests can be
allocated. Then traffic stops.
This patch addresses the problem by introducing a positive handover of a
request from a completing task to a backlog task - the request is never
freed when there is a backlog.
When a task is woken it might not already have a request attached in
which case it is *not* freed (as with current code) but is initialised
(if needed) and used. If it isn't used it will eventually be freed by
rpc_exit_task(). xprt_release() is enhanced to be able to correctly
release an uninitialised request.

modern userspace applications, like OVN, can configure the TC datapath to
"recirculate" packets several times. If more than 4 "recirculation" rules

Changing the maximum number of reclassifications (from 4 to 16) should be
sufficient to prevent drops in most use cases, and guard against loops at

Add a new multipath hash policy where the packet fields used for hash
calculation are determined by user space via the
fib_multipath_hash_fields sysctl that was introduced in the previous
patch.
The current set of available packet fields includes both outer and inner
fields, which requires two invocations of the flow dissector. Avoid
unnecessary dissection of the outer or inner flows by skipping
dissection if none of the outer or inner fields are required.
In accordance with the existing policies, when an skb is not available,
packet fields are extracted from the provided flow key. In which case,
only outer fields are considered.

A subsequent patch will add a new multipath hash policy where the packet
fields used for multipath hash calculation are determined by user space.
This patch adds a sysctl that allows user space to set these fields.
The packet fields are represented using a bitmask and are common between
IPv4 and IPv6 to allow user space to use the same numbering across both
protocols. For example, to hash based on standard 5-tuple:
# sysctl -w net.ipv6.fib_multipath_hash_fields=0x0037
net.ipv6.fib_multipath_hash_fields = 0x0037
To avoid introducing holes in 'struct netns_sysctl_ipv6', move the
'bindv6only' field after the multipath hash fields.
The kernel rejects unknown fields, for example:

Syzbot reports that in mac80211 we have a potential deadlock
between our "local->stop_queue_reasons_lock" (spinlock) and
netlink's nl_table_lock (rwlock). This is because there's at
least one situation in which we might try to send a netlink
message with this spinlock held while it is also possible to
take the spinlock from a hardirq context, resulting in the
following deadlock scenario reported by lockdep:
CPU0 CPU1
---- ----
lock(nl_table_lock);
local_irq_disable();
lock(&local->queue_stop_reason_lock);
lock(nl_table_lock);
<Interrupt>
lock(&local->queue_stop_reason_lock);
This seems valid, we can take the queue_stop_reason_lock in
any kind of context ("CPU0"), and call ieee80211_report_ack_skb()
with the spinlock held and IRQs disabled ("CPU1") in some
code path (ieee80211_do_stop() via ieee80211_free_txskb()).
Short of disallowing netlink use in scenarios like these
(which would be rather complex in mac80211's case due to
the deep callchain), it seems the only fix for this is to
disable IRQs while nl_table_lock is held to avoid hitting
this scenario, this disallows the "CPU0" portion of the
reported deadlock.
Note that the writer side (netlink_table_grab()) already
disables IRQs for this lock.
Unfortunately though, this seems like a huge hammer, and
maybe the whole netlink table locking should be reworked.

It's not a good idea to append the frag skb to a skb's frag_list if
the frag_list already has skbs from elsewhere, such as this skb was
created by pskb_copy() where the frag_list was cloned (all the skbs
in it were skb_get'ed) and shared by multiple skbs.
However, the new appended frag skb should have been only seen by the
current skb. Otherwise, it will cause use after free crashes as this
appended frag skb are seen by multiple skbs but it only got skb_get
called once.
The same thing happens with a skb updated by pskb_may_pull() with a
skb_cloned skb. Li Shuang has reported quite a few crashes caused
by this when doing testing over macvlan devices:

This patch is to fix it by linearizing the head skb if it has frag_list
set in tipc_buf_append(). Note that we choose to do this before calling
skb_unshare(), as __skb_linearize() will avoid skb_copy(). Also, we can
not just drop the frag_list either as the early time.

Broadcast packets send via batadv_send_outstanding_bcast_packet() were
originally copied in batadv_forw_bcast_packet_to_list() before being
queued. And after that only the ethernet header will be pushed through
batadv_send_broadcast_skb()->batadv_send_skb_packet() which works safely
on skb clones as it uses batadv_skb_head_push()->skb_cow_head().

Currently we schedule a broadcast packet like:
3x: [ [(re-)queue] --> for(hard-if): maybe-transmit ]
The intention of queueing a broadcast packet multiple times is to
increase robustness for wireless interfaces. However on interfaces
which we only broadcast on once the queueing induces an unnecessary
penalty. This patch restructures the queueing to be performed on a per
interface basis:
for(hard-if):
- transmit
- if wireless: [queue] --> transmit --> [requeue] --> transmit
Next to the performance benefits on non-wireless interfaces this
should also make it easier to apply alternative strategies for
transmissions on wireless interfaces in the future (for instance sending
via unicast transmissions on wireless interfaces, without queueing in
batman-adv, if appropriate).
