Core

  - Rework the sendpage & splice implementations. Instead of feeding
    data into sockets page by page extend sendmsg handlers to support
    taking a reference on the data, controlled by a new flag called
    MSG_SPLICE_PAGES. Rework the handling of unexpected-end-of-file
    to invoke an additional callback instead of trying to predict what
    the right combination of MORE/NOTLAST flags is.
    Remove the MSG_SENDPAGE_NOTLAST flag completely.
 
  - Implement SCM_PIDFD, a new type of CMSG type analogous to
    SCM_CREDENTIALS, but it contains pidfd instead of plain pid.
 
  - Enable socket busy polling with CONFIG_RT.
 
  - Improve reliability and efficiency of reporting for ref_tracker.
 
  - Auto-generate a user space C library for various Netlink families.

0c68bda696 watchdog/hardlockup: declare arch_touch_nmi_watchdog() only in linux/nmi.h
arch_touch_nmi_watchdog() needs a different implementation for various
hardlockup detector implementations. And it does nothing when
any hardlockup detector is not built at all.

arch_touch_nmi_watchdog() is declared via linux/nmi.h. And it must be
defined as an empty function when there is no hardlockup detector.
It is done directly in this header file for the perf and buddy detectors.
And it is done in the included asm/linux.h for arch specific detectors.

The reason probably is that the arch specific variants build the code
using another conditions. For example, powerpc64/sparc64 builds the code
when CONFIG_PPC_WATCHDOG is enabled.

Another reason might be that these architectures define more functions
in asm/nmi.h anyway.

However the generic code actually knows when the function will be
implemented. It happens when some full featured or the sparc64-specific
hardlockup detector is built.

In particular, CONFIG_HARDLOCKUP_DETECTOR can be enabled only when
a generic or arch-specific full featured hardlockup detector is available.
The only exception is sparc64 which can be built even when the global
HARDLOCKUP_DETECTOR switch is disabled.

The information about sparc64 is a bit complicated. The hardlockup
detector is built there when CONFIG_HAVE_NMI_WATCHDOG is set and
CONFIG_HAVE_HARDLOCKUP_DETECTOR_ARCH is not set.

People might wonder whether this change really makes things easier.
The motivation is:

  + The current logic in linux/nmi.h is far from obvious.
    For example, arch_touch_nmi_watchdog() is defined as {} when
    neither CONFIG_HARDLOCKUP_DETECTOR_COUNTS_HRTIMER nor
    CONFIG_HAVE_NMI_WATCHDOG is defined.

  + The change synchronizes the checks in lib/Kconfig.debug and
    in the generic code.

  + It is a step that will help cleaning HAVE_NMI_WATCHDOG related
    checks.

The change should not change the existing behavior.

358c449afa locking/atomic: sparc: add preprocessor symbols
Some atomics can be implemented in several different ways, e.g.
FULL/ACQUIRE/RELEASE ordered atomics can be implemented in terms of
RELAXED atomics, and ACQUIRE/RELEASE/RELAXED can be implemented in terms
of FULL ordered atomics. Other atomics are optional, and don't exist in
some configurations (e.g. not all architectures implement the 128-bit
cmpxchg ops).

Subsequent patches will require that architectures define a preprocessor
symbol for any atomic (or ordering variant) which is optional. This will
make the fallback ifdeffery more robust, and simplify future changes.

Add the required definitions to arch/sparc.

d12157efc8 locking/atomic: make atomic*_{cmp,}xchg optional
Most architectures define the atomic/atomic64 xchg and cmpxchg
operations in terms of arch_xchg and arch_cmpxchg respectfully.

Add fallbacks for these cases and remove the trivial cases from arch
code. On some architectures the existing definitions are kept as these
are used to build other arch_atomic*() operations.

8f8eaa1b02 fbdev: Move framebuffer I/O helpers into <asm/fb.h>
Implement framebuffer I/O helpers, such as fb_read*() and fb_write*(),
in the architecture's <asm/fb.h> header file or the generic one.

The common case has been the use of regular I/O functions, such as
__raw_readb() or memset_io(). A few architectures used plain system-
memory reads and writes. Sparc used helpers for its SBus.

The architectures that used special cases provide the same code in
their __raw_*() I/O helpers. So the patch replaces this code with the
__raw_*() functions and moves it to <asm-generic/fb.h> for all
architectures.

fa2e71a6fc sparc/mm: don't unconditionally set HW writable bit when setting PTE dirty on 64bit
On sparc64, there is no HW modified bit, therefore, SW tracks via a SW bit
if the PTE is dirty via pte_mkdirty().  However, pte_mkdirty() currently
also unconditionally sets the HW writable bit, which is wrong.

pte_mkdirty() is not supposed to make a PTE actually writable, unless the
SW writable bit -- pte_write() -- indicates that the PTE is not
write-protected.  Fortunately, sparc64 also defines a SW writable bit.

For example, this already turned into a problem in the context of THP
splitting as documented in commit 624a2c94f5 ("Partly revert "mm/thp:
carry over dirty bit when thp splits on pmd""), and for page migration, as
documented in commit 96a9c287e2 ("mm/migrate: fix wrongly apply write
bit after mkdirty on sparc64").

Also, we might want to use the dirty PTE bit in the context of KSM with
shared zeropage [1], whereby setting the page writable would be
problematic.

But more general, any code that might end up setting a PTE/PMD dirty
inside a VM without write permissions is possibly broken,

Test #3,#4,#5 pass ever since we added some MM workarounds, the
underlying issue remains.

Let's fix the remaining issues and prepare for reverting the workarounds
by setting the HW writable bit only if both, the SW dirty bit and the SW
writable bit are set.

We have to move pte_dirty() and pte_write() up. The code patching
mechanism and handling constants > 22bit is a bit special on sparc64.

The ASM logic in pte_mkdirty() and pte_mkwrite() match the logic in
pte_mkold() to create the mask depending on the machine type. The ASM
logic in __pte_mkhwwrite() matches the logic in pte_present(), just
using an "or" instead of an "and" instruction.

With this commit (sun4u in QEMU):

428e106ae1 mm: Introduce untagged_addr_remote()
untagged_addr() removes tags/metadata from the address and brings it to
the canonical form. The helper is implemented on arm64 and sparc. Both of
them do untagging based on global rules.

However, Linear Address Masking (LAM) on x86 introduces per-process
settings for untagging. As a result, untagged_addr() is now only
suitable for untagging addresses for the current proccess.

The new helper untagged_addr_remote() has to be used when the address
targets remote process. It requires the mmap lock for target mm to be
taken.

     one, but the groundwork has been laid for this effort.

 - Daniel Verkamp has contributed a memfd series ("mm/memfd: add
   F_SEAL_EXEC") which permits the setting of the memfd execute bit at
   memfd creation time, with the option of sealing the state of the X
   bit.

 - Peter Xu adds a patch series ("mm/hugetlb: Make huge_pte_offset()
   thread-safe for pmd unshare") which addresses a rare race condition
   related to PMD unsharing.

 - Several folioification patch serieses from Matthew Wilcox, Vishal
   Moola, Sidhartha Kumar and Lorenzo Stoakes

 - Johannes Weiner has a series ("mm: push down lock_page_memcg()")
   which does perform some memcg maintenance and cleanup work.

 - SeongJae Park has added DAMOS filtering to DAMON, with the series
   "mm/damon/core: implement damos filter".

   These filters provide users with finer-grained control over DAMOS's
   actions. SeongJae has also done some DAMON cleanup work.

 - Kairui Song adds a series ("Clean up and fixes for swap").

 - Vernon Yang contributed the series "Clean up and refinement for maple
   tree".

 - Yu Zhao has contributed the "mm: multi-gen LRU: memcg LRU" series. It
   adds to MGLRU an LRU of memcgs, to improve the scalability of global
   reclaim.

 - David Hildenbrand has added some userfaultfd cleanup work in the
   series "mm: uffd-wp + change_protection() cleanups".

 - Christoph Hellwig has removed the generic_writepages() library
   function in the series "remove generic_writepages".

 - Baolin Wang has performed some maintenance on the compaction code in
   his series "Some small improvements for compaction".

 - Sidhartha Kumar is doing some maintenance work on struct page in his
   series "Get rid of tail page fields".

 - David Hildenbrand contributed some cleanup, bugfixing and
   generalization of pte management and of pte debugging in his series

 - Mel Gorman and Neil Brown have removed the __GFP_ATOMIC allocation

 - Joey Gouly has added prctl() support for prohibiting the creation of
   writeable+executable mappings.

0e4f2c4567 char/agp: consolidate {alloc,free}_gatt_pages()
There is a copy of alloc_gatt_pages() and free_gatt_pages in several
architectures in arch/$ARCH/include/asm/agp.h. All the copies do exactly
the same: alias alloc_gatt_pages() to __get_free_pages(GFP_KERNEL) and
alias free_gatt_pages() to free_pages().

Define alloc_gatt_pages() and free_gatt_pages() in drivers/char/agp/agp.h
and drop per-architecture definitions.

e5080a9677 mm, arch: add generic implementation of pfn_valid() for FLATMEM
Every architecture that supports FLATMEM memory model defines its own
version of pfn_valid() that essentially compares a pfn to max_mapnr.

Use mips/powerpc version implemented as static inline as a generic
implementation of pfn_valid() and drop its per-architecture definitions.

adf8e329ff sparc/mm: support __HAVE_ARCH_PTE_SWP_EXCLUSIVE on 64bit
Let's support __HAVE_ARCH_PTE_SWP_EXCLUSIVE by stealing one bit from the
type.  Generic MM currently only uses 5 bits for the type
(MAX_SWAPFILES_SHIFT), so the stolen bit was effectively unused.

While at it, mask the type in __swp_entry().

e6b37d7f6f sparc/mm: support __HAVE_ARCH_PTE_SWP_EXCLUSIVE on 32bit
Let's support __HAVE_ARCH_PTE_SWP_EXCLUSIVE by reusing the SRMMU_DIRTY bit
as that seems to be safe to reuse inside a swap PTE.  This avoids having
to steal one bit from the swap offset.

While at it, relocate the swap PTE layout documentation and use the same
style now used for most other archs.  Note that the old documentation was
wrong: we use 20 bit for the offset and the reserved bits were 8 instead
of 7 bits in the ascii art.

The driver core is changing to pass some pointers as const, so move
to_vio_dev() to use container_of_const() to handle this change.
to_vio_dev() now properly keeps the const-ness of the pointer passed

e025ab842e mm: remove kern_addr_valid() completely
Most architectures (except arm64/x86/sparc) simply return 1 for
kern_addr_valid(), which is only used in read_kcore(), and it calls
copy_from_kernel_nofault() which could check whether the address is a
valid kernel address.  So as there is no need for kern_addr_valid(), let's
remove it.

This contains a series from Linus Walleij to unify the linux/io.h
 interface by making the ia64, alpha, parisc and sparc include
 asm-generic/io.h. All functions provided by the generic header are
 now available to all drivers, but the architectures can still override

89bbeb7e31 termios: get rid of non-UAPI asm/termios.h
All non-UAPI asm/termios.h consist of include of UAPI counterpart
and, possibly, include of linux/uaccess.h

	The latter can't be simply removed, even though nothing in
linux/termios.h doesn't depend upon it anymore - there are several
places that rely upon that indirect chain of includes to pull
linux/uaccess.h.  So the include needs to be lifted out of there -
we lift into tty_driver.h, serdev.h and places that pull asm/termios.h,
but none of
	* linux/uaccess.h (obvious)
	* net/sock.h (pulls uaccess.h)
	* linux/{tty,tty_driver,serdev}.h (tty.h pulls tty_driver.h)

That leaves us just with the include of UAPI asm/termios.h, which is
what <asm/termios.h> will resolve to if we simply remove non-UAPI header.

38fc315a73 termios: consolidate values for VDISCARD in INIT_C_CC
On old systems it used to be ^O.  Linux had never actually used
the value, but INIT_C_CC (on i386) did initialize it to ^O;
unfortunately, it had a typo in the comment claiming that to be
^U.  Most of the architectures copied the (correct) definition
along with mistaken comment.  alpha, powerpc and sparc tried
to make the definition match comment.

However, util-linux still resets it to ^O on any architecture,
^O is the historical value, kernel ignores it anyway and finally,
Linus said "Just change everybody to do the same, nobody cares
about VDISCARD".

2c230431e1 sparc: Fix the generic IO helpers
This enables the Sparc to use <asm-generic/io.h> to fill in the
missing (undefined) [read|write]sq I/O accessor functions.

This is needed if Sparc[64] ever wants to uses CONFIG_REGMAP_MMIO
which has been patches to use accelerated _noinc accessors
such as readsq/writesq that Sparc64, while being a 64bit platform,
as of now not yet provide.

This comes with the requirement that everything the architecture
already provides needs to be defined, rather than just being,
say, static inline functions.

Bite the bullet and just provide the definitions and make it work.
Compile-tested on sparc32 and sparc64.
