657de1cf25 net: phy: smsc: add support for edpd tunable
This adds support for the EDPD PHY tunable.
Per default EDPD is disabled in interrupt mode, the tunable can be used
to override this, e.g. if the link partner doesn't use EDPD.
The interval to check for energy can be chosen between 1000ms and
2000ms. Note that this value consists of the 1000ms phylib interval
for state machine runs plus the time to wait for energy being detected.

f2e9d083f7 net: phy: micrel: correct KSZ9131RNX EEE capabilities and advertisement
The KSZ9131RNX incorrectly shows EEE capabilities in its registers.
Although the "EEE control and capability 1" (Register 3.20) is set to 0,
indicating no EEE support, the "EEE advertisement 1" (Register 7.60) is
set to 0x6, advertising EEE support for 1000BaseT/Full and
100BaseT/Full.
This inconsistency causes PHYlib to assume there is no EEE support,
preventing control over EEE advertisement, which is enabled by default.

This patch resolves the issue by utilizing the ksz9477_get_features()
function to correctly set the EEE capabilities for the KSZ9131RNX. This
adjustment allows proper control over EEE advertisement and ensures
accurate representation of the device's capabilities.

82e2c39f9e net: phy: dp83869: fix default value for tx-/rx-internal-delay
dp83869 internally uses a look-up table for mapping supported delays in
nanoseconds to register values.
When specific delays are defined in device-tree, phy_get_internal_delay
does the lookup automatically returning an index.

The default case wrongly assigns the nanoseconds value from the lookup
table, resulting in numeric value 2000 applied to delay configuration
register, rather than the expected index values 0-7 (7 for 2000).
Ultimately this issue broke RX for 1Gbps links.

Fix default delay configuration by assigning the intended index value
directly.

When the PHY library calls phy_error() something bad has happened, and
we halt the PHY state machine. Calling phy_error() from the main state
machine however is not precise enough to know whether the issue is
reading the link status or starting auto-negotiation.

fac63186f1 net: phy: micrel: Add support for PTP_PF_EXTTS for lan8841
Extend the PTP programmable gpios to implement also PTP_PF_EXTTS
function. The pins can be configured to capture both of rising
and falling edge. Once the event is seen, then an interrupt is
generated and the LTC is saved in the registers.

This was tested using:
ts2phc -m -l 7 -s generic -f ts2phc.cfg

50e96acbe1 net: sfp: add quirk for 2.5G copper SFP
Add a quirk for a copper SFP that identifies itself as "OEM"
"SFP-2.5G-T". This module's PHY is inaccessible, and can only run
at 2500base-X with the host without negotiation. Add a quirk to
enable the 2500base-X interface mode with 2500base-T support, and
disable autonegotiation.

8110633db4 net: sfp-bus: allow SFP quirks to override Autoneg and pause bits
Allow SFP quirks to override the Autoneg, Pause and Asym_Pause bits in
the support mask.

Some modules have an inaccessible PHY on which is only accessible via
2500base-X without Autonegotiation. We therefore want to be able to
clear the Autoneg bit. Rearrange sfp_parse_support() to allow a SFP
modes quirk to override this bit.

The Amlogic Meson internal PHY's have the same register layout as
certain SMSC PHY's (also for non-c22-standard registers). This seems
to be more than just coincidence. Apparently they also need the same
workaround for EDPD mode (energy detect power down). Therefore let's
reuse SMSC PHY driver functionality in the meson-gxl PHY driver.

Tested with a G12A internal PHY. I don't have GXL test hw,
therefore I replace only the callbacks that are identical in
the SMSC PHY driver.

04361b8bb8 net: sfp: fix state loss when updating state_hw_mask
Andrew reports that the SFF modules on one of the ZII platforms do not
indicate link up due to the SFP code believing that LOS indicating that
there is no signal being received from the remote end, but in fact the
LOS signal is showing that there is signal.

What makes SFF modules different from SFPs is they typically have an
inverted LOS, which uncovered this issue. When we read the hardware
state, we mask it with state_hw_mask so we ignore anything we're not
interested in. However, we don't re-read when state_hw_mask changes,
leading to sfp->state being stale.

Arrange for a software poll of the module state after we have parsed
the EEPROM in sfp_sm_mod_probe() and updated state_*_mask. This will
generate any necessary events for signal changes for the state
machine as well as updating sfp->state.

4203d84032 net: phy: Ensure state transitions are processed from phy_stop()
In the phy_disconnect() -> phy_stop() path, we will be forcibly setting
the PHY state machine to PHY_HALTED. This invalidates the old_state !=
phydev->state condition in phy_state_machine() such that we will neither
display the state change for debugging, nor will we invoke the
link_change_notify() callback.

Factor the code by introducing phy_process_state_change(), and ensure
that we process the state change from phy_stop() as well.

acquire phydev->lock, but the mscc phy driver implementations,

e4ed8ba08e net: phy: micrel: Add support for PTP_PF_PEROUT for lan8841
Lan8841 has 10 GPIOs and it has 2 events(EVENT_A and EVENT_B). It is
possible to assigned the 2 events to any of the GPIOs, but a GPIO can
have only 1 event at a time.
These events are used to generate periodic signals. It is possible to
configure the length, the start time and the period of the signal by
configuring the event.
Currently the SW uses only EVENT_A to generate the perout.

These events are generated by comparing the target time with the PHC
time. In case the PHC time is changed to a value bigger than the target
time + reload time, then it would generate only 1 event and then it
would stop because target time + reload time is small than PHC time.
Therefore it is required to change also the target time every time when
the PHC is changed. The same will apply also when the PHC time is
changed to a smaller value.

This was tested using:
testptp -L 6,2
testptp -p 1000000000 -w 200000000

5daed426f0 net: sfp: only use soft polling if we have A2h access
The soft state bits are stored in the A2h memory space, and require
SFF-8472 compliance. This is what our have_a2 flag tells us, so use
this to indicate whether we should attempt to use the soft signals.

f94b9bed12 net: sfp: add A2h presence flag
The hwmon code wants to know when it is safe to access the A2h data
stored in a separate address. We indicate that this is present when
we have SFF-8472 compliance and the lack of an address-change
sequence.,

The same conditions are also true if we want to access other controls
and status in the A2h address. So let's make a flag to indicate whether
we can access it, instead of repeating the conditions throughout the
code.

For now, only convert the hwmon code.

e57cf3639c net: lan78xx: fix accessing the LAN7800's internal phy specific registers from the MAC driver
Move the LAN7800 internal phy (phy ID  0x0007c132) specific register
accesses to the phy driver (microchip.c).

Fix the error reported by Enguerrand de Ribaucourt in December 2022,
"Some operations during the cable switch workaround modify the register
LAN88XX_INT_MASK of the PHY. However, this register is specific to the
LAN8835 PHY. For instance, if a DP8322I PHY is connected to the LAN7801,
that register (0x19), corresponds to the LED and MAC address
configuration, resulting in unapropriate behavior."

I did not test with the DP8322I PHY, but I tested with an EVB-LAN7800
with the internal PHY.

   - driver core changes to work to make struct bus_type able to be moved
     into read-only memory (i.e. const)  The recent work with Rust has
     pointed out a number of areas in the driver core where we are
     passing around and working with structures that really do not have
     to be dynamic at all, and they should be able to be read-only making
     things safer overall.  This is the contuation of that work (started
     last release with kobject changes) in moving struct bus_type to be
     constant.  We didn't quite make it for this release, but the
     remaining patches will be finished up for the release after this
     one, but the groundwork has been laid for this effort.
 
 Other than that we have in here:
   - debugfs memory leak fixes in some subsystems
   - error path cleanups and fixes for some never-able-to-be-hit
     codepaths.
   - cacheinfo rework and fixes
   - Other tiny fixes, full details are in the shortlog
