Commit c312ef1763 "libata/ahci: Drop PCS quirk for Denverton and
beyond" got the polarity wrong on the check for which board-ids should
have the quirk applied. The board type board_ahci_pcs7 is defined at the
end of the list such that "pcs7" boards can be special cased in the
future if they need the quirk. All prior Intel board ids "<
board_ahci_pcs7" should proceed with applying the quirk.

[ Upstream commit c312ef1763 ]
The Linux ahci driver has historically implemented a configuration fixup
for platforms / platform-firmware that fails to enable the ports prior
to OS hand-off at boot. The fixup was originally implemented way back
before ahci moved from drivers/scsi/ to drivers/ata/, and was updated in
2007 via commit 49f2909039 "ahci: update PCS programming". The quirk
sets a port-enable bitmap in the PCS register at offset 0x92.
This quirk could be applied generically up until the arrival of the
Denverton (DNV) platform. The DNV AHCI controller architecture supports
more than 6 ports and along with that the PCS register location and
format were updated to allow for more possible ports in the bitmap. DNV
AHCI expands the register to 32-bits and moves it to offset 0x94.
As it stands there are no known problem reports with existing Linux
trying to set bits at offset 0x92 which indicates that the quirk is not
applicable. Likely it is not applicable on a wider range of platforms,
but it is difficult to discern which platforms if any still depend on
the quirk.
Rather than try to fix the PCS quirk to consider the DNV register layout
instead require explicit opt-in. The assumption is that the OS driver
need not touch this register, and platforms can be added with a new
boad_ahci_pcs7 board-id when / if problematic platforms are found in the
future. The logic in ahci_intel_pcs_quirk() looks for all Intel AHCI
instances with "legacy" board-ids and otherwise skips the quirk if the
board was matched by class-code.

For passthrough requests, libata-scsi takes what the user passes in
as gospel. This can be problematic if the user fills in the CDB
incorrectly. One example of that is in request sizes. For read/write
commands, the CDB contains fields describing the transfer length of
the request. These should match with the SG_IO header fields, but
libata-scsi currently does no validation of that.
Check that the number of blocks in the CDB for passthrough requests
matches what was mapped into the request. If the CDB asks for more
data then the validated SG_IO header fields, error it.

ZAC support added sense data requesting on error for both ZAC and ATA
devices. This seems to cause erratic error handling behaviors on some
SSDs where the device reports sense data availability and then
delivers the wrong content making EH take the wrong actions. The
failure mode was sporadic on a LITE-ON ssd and couldn't be reliably
reproduced.
There is no value in requesting sense data from non-ZAC ATA devices
while there's a significant risk of introducing EH misbehaviors which
are difficult to reproduce and fix. Let's do the sense data dancing
only for ZAC devices.

Add support to get and control a list of resets for the device
as optional and shared. These resets must be kept de-asserted until
the device is enabled.
This is specified as shared because some SoCs like UniPhier series
have common reset controls with all ahci controller instances.
However, according to Thierry's view,
https://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-ide/msg55357.html
some hardware-specific drivers already use their own resets,
and the common reset make a path to occur double controls of resets.
The ahci_platform_get_resources() can get and control the reset

Here is the bit set of char/misc drivers for 4.19-rc1
There is a lot here, much more than normal, seems like everyone is
writing new driver subsystems these days... Anyway, major things here
are:
- new FSI driver subsystem, yet-another-powerpc low-level
hardware bus
- gnss, finally an in-kernel GPS subsystem to try to tame all of
the crazy out-of-tree drivers that have been floating around
for years, combined with some really hacky userspace
implementations. This is only for GNSS receivers, but you
have to start somewhere, and this is great to see.
Other than that, there are new slimbus drivers, new coresight drivers,
new fpga drivers, and loads of DT bindings for all of these and existing
drivers.

There is a lot here, much more than normal, seems like everyone is
writing new driver subsystems these days... Anyway, major things here
are:
- new FSI driver subsystem, yet-another-powerpc low-level hardware

- gnss, finally an in-kernel GPS subsystem to try to tame all of the
crazy out-of-tree drivers that have been floating around for years,
combined with some really hacky userspace implementations. This is
only for GNSS receivers, but you have to start somewhere, and this

There are two modes in which DEVSLP can be entered. The OS initiated or
hardware autonomous.
In hardware autonomous mode, BIOS configures the AHCI controller and the
device to enable DEVSLP. But they may not be ideal for all cases. So in
this case, OS should be able to reconfigure DEVSLP register.
Currently if the DEVSLP is already enabled, we can't set again as it will
simply return. There are some systems where the firmware is setting high
DITO by default, in this case we can't modify here to correct settings.
With the default in several seconds, we are not able to transition to
DEVSLP.
This change will allow reconfiguration of devslp register if DITO is
different.

We have seen that on some platforms, SATA device never show any DEVSLP
residency. This prevent power gating of SATA IP, which prevent system
to transition to low power mode in systems with SLP_S0 aka modern
standby systems. The PHY logic is off only in DEVSLP not in slumber.

One of the requirement for modern x86 system to enter lowest power mode
(SLP_S0) is SATA IP block to be off. This is true even during when
platform is suspended to idle and not only in opportunistic (runtime)
suspend.
Several of these system don't have traditional ACPI S3, so it is
important that they enter SLP_S0 state, to avoid draining battery even
during suspend. So it is important that out of the box Linux installation
reach this state.
SATA IP block doesn't get turned off till SATA is in DEVSLP mode. Here
user has to either use scsi-host sysfs or tools like powertop to set
the sata-host link_power_management_policy to min_power.
This change sets by default link power management policy to min_power
with partial (preferred) or slumber support on idle for some platforms.
To avoid regressions, the following conditions are used:
- User didn't override the policy from module parameter
- The kernel config is already set to use med_power_with_dipm or deeper
- System is a SLP_S0 capable using ACPI low power idle flag
This combination will make sure that systems are fairly recent and
since getting shipped with SLP_S0 support, the DEVSLP function
is already validated.

Currently when min_power policy is selected, the partial low power state

Add a new policy which still enable DEVSLP but also try to enter partial

For information the difference between partial and slumber
Partial – PHY logic is powered up, and in a reduced power state. The link
PM exit latency to active state maximum is 10 ns.
Slumber – PHY logic is powered up, and in a reduced power state. The link
