pull-request: can-next 2024-02-20
this is a pull request of 9 patches for net-next/master.
The first patch is by Francesco Dolcini and removes a redundant check
for pm_clock_support from the m_can driver.
Martin Hundebøll contributes 3 patches to the m_can/tcan4x5x driver to
allow resume upon RX of a CAN frame.
3 patches by Srinivas Goud add support for ECC statistics to the
xilinx_can driver.
The last 2 patches are by Oliver Hartkopp and me, target the CAN RAW
protocol and fix an error in the getsockopt() for CAN-XL introduced in
the previous pull request to net-next (linux-can-next-for-6.9-20240213).

Document ethernet PHY package nodes used to describe PHY shipped in
bundle of 2-5 PHY. The special node describe a container of PHY that
share common properties. This is a generic schema and PHY package
should create specialized version with the required additional shared
properties.
Example are PHY packages that have some regs only in one PHY of the
package and will affect every other PHY in the package, for example
related to PHY interface mode calibration or global PHY mode selection.
The PHY package node MUST declare the base address used by the PHY driver
for global configuration by calculating the offsets of the global PHY
based on the base address of the PHY package.
Each reg of the PHYs defined in the PHY package node is absolute and
describe the real address of the Ethernet PHY on the bus.

The example for PCI devices has some addressing errors. 'reg' is written
as if the parent bus is PCI, but the default bus for examples is 1
address and size cell. 'ranges' is defining config space with a
size of 0. Generally, config space should not be defined in
'ranges', only PCI memory and I/O spaces. Fix these issues by updating
the values with made-up, but valid values.
This was uncovered with recent dtschema changes.

This commit adds the dt-binding for KSZ8567, a robust 7-port
Ethernet switch. The KSZ8567 features two RGMII/MII/RMII interfaces,
each capable of gigabit speeds, complemented by five 10/100 Mbps
MAC/PHYs.
This binding is necessary to set specific capabilities for this switch
chip that are necessary due to the ksz dsa driver only accepting
specific chip ids.
The KSZ8567 is very similar to KSZ9567 however only containing 100 Mbps
phys on its downstream ports.

The Synopsys DesignWare MAC found on StarFive JH7100 SoC is mostly
similar to the newer JH7110, but it requires only two interrupts and a
single reset line, which is 'ahb' instead of the commonly used
'stmmaceth'.
Since the common binding 'snps, dwmac' allows selecting 'ahb' only in
conjunction with 'stmmaceth', extend the logic to also permit exclusive
usage of the 'ahb' reset name. This ensures the following use cases are
supported:
JH7110: reset-names = "stmmaceth", "ahb";
JH7100: reset-names = "ahb";
other: reset-names = "stmmaceth";
Also note the need to use a different dwmac fallback, as v5.20 applies
to JH7110 only, while JH7100 relies on v3.7x.
Additionally, drop the reset description items from top-level binding as
they are already provided by the included snps, dwmac schema.

When the H6 was added to the bindings, only the TX DMA channel was
added. As the hardware supports both transmit and receive functions,
the binding is missing the RX DMA channel and is thus incorrect.
Also, the reset control was not made mandatory.
Add the RX DMA channel for SPDIF on H6 by removing the compatible from
the list of compatibles that should only have a TX DMA channel. And add
the H6 compatible to the list of compatibles that require the reset

"Lots going on for rc2, ivpu has a bunch of stabilisation and debugging
work, then amdgpu and xe are the main fixes. i915, exynos have a few,
then some misc panel and bridge fixes.
Worth mentioning are three regressions. One of the nouveau fixes in
6.7 for a serious deadlock had side effects, so I guess we will bring
back the deadlock until I can figure out what should be done properly.
There was a scheduler regression vs amdgpu which was reported in a few
places and is now fixed. There was an i915 vs simpledrm problem
resulting in black screens, that is reverted also.
I'll be working on a proper nouveau fix, it kinda looks like one of
those cases where someone tried to use an atomic where they should
have probably used a lock, but I'll see.

(controllers set the flag, but there is no client to use it). Also,
CLASS_SPD support gets simplified to prepare removal in the future.
Class based instantiation is not recommended these days anyhow.
Furthermore, I2C core now creates a debugfs directory per I2C adapter.
Current bus driver users were converted to use it. Then, there are also
quite some driver updates. Standing out are patches for the wmt-driver
which is refactored to support more variants. This is the rebased pull
request where a large series for the designware driver was dropped.

Pull i2c updates from Wolfram Sang:
"This removes the currently unused CLASS_DDC support (controllers set
the flag, but there is no client to use it).
Also, CLASS_SPD support gets simplified to prepare removal in the
future. Class based instantiation is not recommended these days
anyhow.
Furthermore, I2C core now creates a debugfs directory per I2C adapter.
Current bus driver users were converted to use it.
Finally, quite some driver updates. Standing out are patches for the
wmt-driver which is refactored to support more variants.
This is the rebased pull request where a large series for the
designware driver was dropped"

Merge tag 'gpio-fixes-for-v6.8-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/brgl/linux
Pull gpio fixes from Bartosz Golaszewski:
"Apart from some regular driver fixes there's a relatively big revert
of the locking changes that were introduced to GPIOLIB in this merge
window.
This is because it turned out that some legacy GPIO interfaces - that
need to translate a number from the global GPIO numberspace to the
address of the relevant descriptor, thus running a GPIO device lookup
and taking the GPIO device list lock - are still used in old code from
atomic context resulting in "scheduling while atomic" errors.
I'll try to make the read-only part of the list access entirely
lockless using SRCU but this will take some time so let's go back to
the old global spinlock for now.
Summary:
- revert the changes aiming to use a read-write semaphore to protect
the list of GPIO devices due to calls to legacy API taking that
lock from atomic context in old code
- fix inverted logic in DEFINE_FREE() for GPIO device references
- check the return value of bgpio_init() in gpio-mlxbf3
- fix node address in the DT bindings example for gpio-xilinx
- fix signedness bug in gpio-rtd

Merge tag 'tty-6.8-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gregkh/tty
Pull tty / serial updates from Greg KH:
"Here is the big set of tty and serial driver changes for 6.8-rc1.
As usual, Jiri has a bunch of refactoring and cleanups for the tty
core and drivers in here, along with the usual set of rs485 updates
(someday this might work properly...)
Along with those, in here are changes for:
- sc16is7xx serial driver updates
- platform driver removal api updates
- amba-pl011 driver updates
- tty driver binding updates
- other small tty/serial driver updates and changes
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
issues"
