To be fully correct, an iterator has an undefined value when something
like skb_queue_walk() naturally terminates.
This will actually matter when SKB queues are converted over to
list_head.

We'll need this to handle ICMP errors for tunnels without a sending socket
(i.e. FoU and GUE). There, we might have to look up different types of IP
tunnels, registered as network protocols, before we get a match, so we
want this for the error handlers of IPPROTO_IPIP and IPPROTO_IPV6 in both
inet_protos and inet6_protos. These error codes will be used in the next
patch.
For consistency, return sensible error codes in protocol error handlers
whenever handlers can't handle errors because, even if valid, they don't
match a protocol or any of its states.
This has no effect on existing error handling paths.

sk->sk_wmem_queued is used to count the size of chunks in out queue
while sk->sk_wmem_alloc is for counting the size of chunks has been
sent. sctp is increasing both of them before enqueuing the chunks,
and using sk->sk_wmem_alloc to check for writable space.
However, sk_wmem_alloc is also increased by 1 for the skb allocked
for sending in sctp_packet_transmit() but it will not wake up the
waiters when sk_wmem_alloc is decreased in this skb's destructor.
If msg size is equal to sk_sndbuf and sendmsg is waiting for sndbuf,
the check 'msg_len <= sctp_wspace(asoc)' in sctp_wait_for_sndbuf()
will keep waiting if there's a skb allocked in sctp_packet_transmit,
and later even if this skb got freed, the waiting thread will never
get waked up.
This issue has been there since very beginning, so we change to use
sk->sk_wmem_queued to check for writable space as sk_wmem_queued is
not increased for the skb allocked for sending, also as TCP does.
SOCK_SNDBUF_LOCK check is also removed here as it's for tx buf auto
tuning which I will add in another patch.

Now it's confusing that asoc sndbuf_used is doing memory accounting with
SCTP_DATA_SNDSIZE(chunk) + sizeof(sk_buff) + sizeof(sctp_chunk) while sk
sk_wmem_alloc is doing that with skb->truesize + sizeof(sctp_chunk).
It also causes sctp_prsctp_prune to count with a wrong freed memory when
sndbuf_policy is not set.
To make this right and also keep consistent between asoc sndbuf_used, sk
sk_wmem_alloc and sk_wmem_queued, use skb->truesize + sizeof(sctp_chunk)

This is a similar issue with the one fixed in Commit ca3af4dd28
("sctp: do not free asoc when it is already dead in sctp_sendmsg").
But this one can't be fixed by returning -ESRCH for the dead asoc
in sctp_wait_for_connect, as it will break sctp_connect's return
value to users.
This patch is to simply set err to -ESRCH before it returns to
sctp_sendmsg when any err is returned by sctp_wait_for_connect
for sp->strm_interleave, so that no asoc would be freed due to
this.
When users see this error, they will know the packet hasn't been
sent. And it also makes sense to not free asoc because waiting
connect fails, like the second call for sctp_wait_for_connect in
sctp_sendmsg_to_asoc.

sctp_id2asoc
spin lock
grab the asoc from idr
spin unlock
spin lock
remove asoc from idr
spin unlock
free(asoc)
if asoc->base.sk != sk ... [*]
This can only be hit if trying to fetch asocs from different sockets. As
we have a single IDR for all asocs, in all SCTP sockets, their id is
unique on the system. An application can try to send stuff on an id
that matches on another socket, and the if in [*] will protect from such
usage. But it didn't consider that as that asoc may belong to another
socket, it may be freed in parallel (read: under another socket lock).
We fix it by moving the checks in [*] into the protected region. This
fixes it because the asoc cannot be freed while the lock is held.

Other than asoc pmtu sync from all transports, sctp_assoc_sync_pmtu
is also processing transport pmtu_pending by icmp packets. But it's
meaningless to use sctp_dst_mtu(t->dst) as new pmtu for a transport.
The right pmtu value should come from the icmp packet, and it would
be saved into transport->mtu_info in this patch and used later when
the pmtu sync happens in sctp_sendmsg_to_asoc or sctp_packet_config.
Besides, without this patch, as pmtu can only be updated correctly
when receiving a icmp packet and no place is holding sock lock, it
will take long time if the sock is busy with sending packets.
Note that it doesn't process transport->mtu_info in .release_cb(),
as there is no enough information for pmtu update, like for which
asoc or transport. It is not worth traversing all asocs to check
pmtu_pending. So unlike tcp, sctp does this in tx path, for which
mtu_info needs to be atomic_t.

When processing pmtu update from an icmp packet, it calls .update_pmtu
with sk instead of skb in sctp_transport_update_pmtu.
However for sctp, the daddr in the transport might be different from
inet_sock->inet_daddr or sk->sk_v6_daddr, which is used to update or
create the route cache. The incorrect daddr will cause a different
route cache created for the path.
So before calling .update_pmtu, inet_sock->inet_daddr/sk->sk_v6_daddr
should be updated with the daddr in the transport, and update it back
after it's done.

As said in last patch, it uses '| 0x100000' or '|0x1' to mark
flowlabel or dscp is set, so that their values could be set
to 0.
Note that to guarantee that an old app built with old kernel

This feature is actually already supported by sk->sk_reuse which can be
set by socket level opt SO_REUSEADDR. But it's not working exactly as
RFC6458 demands in section 8.1.27, like:
- This option only supports one-to-one style SCTP sockets
- This socket option must not be used after calling bind()
or sctp_bindx().
Besides, SCTP_REUSE_PORT sockopt should be provided for user's programs.
Otherwise, the programs with SCTP_REUSE_PORT from other systems will not
work in linux.
To separate it from the socket level version, this patch adds 'reuse' in
sctp_sock and it works pretty much as sk->sk_reuse, but with some extra
setup limitations that are needed when it is being enabled.
"It should be noted that the behavior of the socket-level socket option
to reuse ports and/or addresses for SCTP sockets is unspecified", so it
leaves SO_REUSEADDR as is for the compatibility.
Note that the name SCTP_REUSE_PORT is somewhat confusing, as its
functionality is nearly identical to SO_REUSEADDR, but with some
extra restrictions. Here it uses 'reuse' in sctp_sock instead of
'reuseport'. As for sk->sk_reuseport support for SCTP, it will be
added in another patch.
Thanks to Neil to make this clear.
v1->v2:
- add sctp_sk->reuse to separate it from the socket level version.
v2->v3:

The poll() changes were not well thought out, and completely
unexplained. They also caused a huge performance regression, because
"->poll()" was no longer a trivial file operation that just called down
to the underlying file operations, but instead did at least two indirect
calls.
Indirect calls are sadly slow now with the Spectre mitigation, but the
performance problem could at least be largely mitigated by changing the
"->get_poll_head()" operation to just have a per-file-descriptor pointer
to the poll head instead. That gets rid of one of the new indirections.
But that doesn't fix the new complexity that is completely unwarranted
for the regular case. The (undocumented) reason for the poll() changes
was some alleged AIO poll race fixing, but we don't make the common case
slower and more complex for some uncommon special case, so this all
really needs way more explanations and most likely a fundamental
redesign.

Due to the use of rhashtables in net namespaces,
rhashtable.h is included in lots of the kernel,
so a small changes can required a large recompilation.
This makes development painful.
This patch splits out rhashtable-types.h which just includes
the major type declarations, and does not include (non-trivial)
inline code. rhashtable.h is no longer included by anything
in the include/ directory.
Common include files only include rhashtable-types.h so a large
recompilation is only triggered when that changes.

Now sctp GSO uses skb_gro_receive() to append the data into head
skb frag_list. However it actually only needs very few code from
skb_gro_receive(). Besides, NAPI_GRO_CB has to be set while most
of its members are not needed here.
This patch is to add sctp_packet_gso_append() to build GSO frames
instead of skb_gro_receive(), and it would avoid many unnecessary
checks and make the code clearer.
Note that sctp will use page frags instead of frag_list to build
GSO frames in another patch. But it may take time, as sctp's GSO
frames may have different size. skb_segment() can only split it
into the frags with the same size, which would break the border
of sctp chunks.

Pull overflow updates from Kees Cook:
"This adds the new overflow checking helpers and adds them to the

helpers and does a treewide replacement for the struct_size() usage.
Additionally this adds the overflow testing modules to make sure

I'm still working on the treewide replacements for allocators with
"simple" multiplied arguments:
*alloc(a * b, ...) -> *alloc_array(a, b, ...)
and
*zalloc(a * b, ...) -> *calloc(a, b, ...)
as well as the more complex cases, but that's separable from this
portion of the series. I expect to have the rest sent before -rc1

One of the more common cases of allocation size calculations is finding
the size of a structure that has a zero-sized array at the end, along
with memory for some number of elements for that array. For example:
struct foo {
int stuff;
void *entry[];
};
instance = kmalloc(sizeof(struct foo) + sizeof(void *) * count, GFP_KERNEL);
Instead of leaving these open-coded and prone to type mistakes, we can
now use the new struct_size() helper:
instance = kmalloc(struct_size(instance, entry, count), GFP_KERNEL);
This patch makes the changes for kmalloc()-family (and kvmalloc()-family)
uses. It was done via automatic conversion with manual review for the
"CHECKME" non-standard cases noted below, using the following Coccinelle
script:
// pkey_cache = kmalloc(sizeof *pkey_cache + tprops->pkey_tbl_len *
// sizeof *pkey_cache->table, GFP_KERNEL);

syzbot reported a rcu_sched self-detected stall on CPU which is caused
by too small value set on rto_min with SCTP_RTOINFO sockopt. With this
value, hb_timer will get stuck there, as in its timer handler it starts
this timer again with this value, then goes to the timer handler again.
This problem is there since very beginning, and thanks to Eric for the
reproducer shared from a syzbot mail.
This patch fixes it by not allowing sctp_transport_timeout to return a
smaller value than HZ/5 for hb_timer, which is based on TCP's min rto.
Note that it doesn't fix this issue by limiting rto_min, as some users
are still using small rto and no proper value was found for it yet.

Now sctp uses inet_dgram_connect as its proto_ops .connect, and the flags
param can't be passed into its proto .connect where this flags is really
needed.
sctp works around it by getting flags from socket file in __sctp_connect.
It works for connecting from userspace, as inherently the user sock has
socket file and it passes f_flags as the flags param into the proto_ops
.connect.
However, the sock created by sock_create_kern doesn't have a socket file,
and it passes the flags (like O_NONBLOCK) by using the flags param in
kernel_connect, which calls proto_ops .connect later.
So to fix it, this patch defines a new proto_ops .connect for sctp,
sctp_inet_connect, which calls __sctp_connect() directly with this
flags param. After this, the sctp's proto .connect can be removed.
Note that sctp_inet_connect doesn't need to do some checks that are not
needed for sctp, which makes thing better than with inet_dgram_connect.

Now sctp only delays the authentication for the normal cookie-echo
chunk by setting chunk->auth_chunk in sctp_endpoint_bh_rcv(). But
for the duplicated one with auth, in sctp_assoc_bh_rcv(), it does
authentication first based on the old asoc, which will definitely
fail due to the different auth info in the old asoc.
The duplicated cookie-echo chunk will create a new asoc with the
auth info from this chunk, and the authentication should also be
done with the new asoc's auth info for all of the collision 'A',
'B' and 'D'. Otherwise, the duplicated cookie-echo chunk with auth
will never pass the authentication and create the new connection.
This issue exists since very beginning, and this fix is to make
sctp_assoc_bh_rcv() follow the way sctp_endpoint_bh_rcv() does
for the normal cookie-echo chunk to delay the authentication.
While at it, remove the unused params from sctp_sf_authenticate()
and define sctp_auth_chunk_verify() used for all the places that
do the delayed authentication.

processes auth chunk first, then continues to the next chunk in
this packet if chunk_end + chunk_hdr size < skb_tail_pointer().
Otherwise, it will go to the next packet or discard this chunk.
However, it missed the fact that cookie-ack chunk's size is equal
to chunk_hdr size, which couldn't match that check, and thus this
chunk would not get processed.
This patch fixes it by changing the check to chunk_end + chunk_hdr
size <= skb_tail_pointer().

When processing a duplicate cookie-echo chunk, for case 'D', sctp will
not process the param from this chunk. It means old asoc has nothing
to be updated, and the new temp asoc doesn't have the complete info.
So there's no reason to use the new asoc when creating the cookie-ack
chunk. Otherwise, like when auth is enabled for cookie-ack, the chunk
can not be set with auth, and it will definitely be dropped by peer.
This issue is there since very beginning, and we fix it by using the

But sctp_inet6_cmp_addr checks the addr by invoking af(6)->cmp_addr,

Although if you look a bit closer, excluding the usual minor

The SCTP changes are the result of a multi-month effort (maybe even a

proper SELinux controls. A special thanks go to Richard for seeing
this through and keeping the effort moving forward.
The state encapsulation work is a bit of janitorial work that came out

encapsulation work so we've split that out and are now sending that up

Fun set of conflict resolutions here...
For the mac80211 stuff, these were fortunately just parallel
adds. Trivially resolved.
In drivers/net/phy/phy.c we had a bug fix in 'net' that moved the
function phy_disable_interrupts() earlier in the file, whilst in
'net-next' the phy_error() call from this function was removed.
In net/ipv4/xfrm4_policy.c, David Ahern's changes to remove the
'rt_table_id' member of rtable collided with a bug fix in 'net' that
added a new struct member "rt_mtu_locked" which needs to be copied
over here.
The mlxsw driver conflict consisted of net-next separating
the span code and definitions into separate files, whilst
a 'net' bug fix made some changes to that moved code.
The mlx5 infiniband conflict resolution was quite non-trivial,
the RDMA tree's merge commit was used as a guide here, and
here are their notes:
====================
Due to bug fixes found by the syzkaller bot and taken into the for-rc
branch after development for the 4.17 merge window had already started
being taken into the for-next branch, there were fairly non-trivial
merge issues that would need to be resolved between the for-rc branch
and the for-next branch. This merge resolves those conflicts and
provides a unified base upon which ongoing development for 4.17 can
be based.
Conflicts:
drivers/infiniband/hw/mlx5/main.c - Commit 42cea83f95
(IB/mlx5: Fix cleanup order on unload) added to for-rc and
commit b5ca15ad7e (IB/mlx5: Add proper representors support)
add as part of the devel cycle both needed to modify the
init/de-init functions used by mlx5. To support the new
representors, the new functions added by the cleanup patch
needed to be made non-static, and the init/de-init list
added by the representors patch needed to be modified to
match the init/de-init list changes made by the cleanup
patch.
Updates:
drivers/infiniband/hw/mlx5/mlx5_ib.h - Update function
prototypes added by representors patch to reflect new function
names as changed by cleanup patch

f84af33 sctp: factor out sctp_sendmsg_to_asoc from sctp_sendmsg
As the newly refactored function moved the wait_for_sndbuf call to a
point after the association was connected, allowing for peeloff events
to occur, which in turn caused wait_for_sndbuf to return -EPIPE which
was not caught by the logic that determines if an association should be
freed or not.
Fix it the easy way by returning the ordering of
sctp_primitive_ASSOCIATE and sctp_wait_for_sndbuf to the old order, to
ensure that EPIPE will not happen.

With refcnt support for sh_key, chunks auth sh_keys can be decided
before enqueuing it. Changing the active key later will not affect
the chunks already enqueued.
Furthermore, this is necessary when adding the support for authinfo
for sendmsg in next patch.
Note that struct sctp_chunk can't be grown due to that performance
drop issue on slow cpu, so it just reuses head_skb memory for shkey
in sctp_chunk.

- rename sinfo_flags as sflags, to make the indents look better, and
also keep consistent with other sctp_sendmsg_xx functions.
- replace new_asoc with bool new, no need to define a pointer here,
as if new_asoc is set, it must be asoc.
- rename the 'out_nounlock:' as 'out', shorter and nicer.
- remove associd, only one place is using it now, just use

Before:
All these functions either return a negative error indicator,
or store length of sockaddr into "int *socklen" parameter
and return zero on success.
"int *socklen" parameter is awkward. For example, if caller does not
care, it still needs to provide on-stack storage for the value
it does not need.
None of the many FOO_getname() functions of various protocols
ever used old value of *socklen. They always just overwrite it.
This change drops this parameter, and makes all these functions, on success,
return length of sockaddr. It's always >= 0 and can be differentiated
from an error.
Tests in callers are changed from "if (err)" to "if (err < 0)", where needed.
rpc_sockname() lost "int buflen" parameter, since its only use was
to be passed to kernel_getsockname() as &buflen and subsequently
not used in any way.
Userspace API is not changed.

This is the mindless scripted replacement of kernel use of POLL*
variables as described by Al, done by this script:
for V in IN OUT PRI ERR RDNORM RDBAND WRNORM WRBAND HUP RDHUP NVAL MSG; do
L=`git grep -l -w POLL$V | grep -v '^t' | grep -v /um/ | grep -v '^sa' | grep -v '/poll.h$'|grep -v '^D'`
for f in $L; do sed -i "-es/^\([^\"]*\)\(\<POLL$V\>\)/\\1E\\2/" $f; done
done
with de-mangling cleanups yet to come.
NOTE! On almost all architectures, the EPOLL* constants have the same
values as the POLL* constants do. But they keyword here is "almost".
For various bad reasons they aren't the same, and epoll() doesn't
actually work quite correctly in some cases due to this on Sparc et al.
The next patch from Al will sort out the final differences, and we
should be all done.

Here the chunk size for INIT_ACK packet becomes too big, mostly
because of the state cookie (INIT packet has large size with
many address parameters), plus additional server parameters.
Later this chunk causes the panic in skb_put_data():
skb_packet_transmit()
sctp_packet_pack()
skb_put_data(nskb, chunk->skb->data, chunk->skb->len);
'nskb' (head skb) was previously allocated with packet->size
from u16 'chunk->chunk_hdr->length'.
As suggested by Marcelo we should check the chunk's length in
_sctp_make_chunk() before trying to allocate skb for it and
discard a chunk if its size bigger than SCTP_MAX_CHUNK_LEN.

"This introduces a __bitwise type for POLL### bitmap, and propagates
the annotations through the tree. Most of that stuff is as simple as
'make ->poll() instances return __poll_t and do the same to local
variables used to hold the future return value'.
Some of the obvious brainos found in process are fixed (e.g. POLLIN
misspelled as POLL_IN). At that point the amount of sparse warnings is
low and most of them are for genuine bugs - e.g. ->poll() instance
deciding to return -EINVAL instead of a bitmap. I hadn't touched those
in this series - it's large enough as it is.
Another problem it has caught was eventpoll() ABI mess; select.c and
eventpoll.c assumed that corresponding POLL### and EPOLL### were
equal. That's true for some, but not all of them - EPOLL### are
arch-independent, but POLL### are not.
The last commit in this series separates userland POLL### values from
the (now arch-independent) kernel-side ones, converting between them
in the few places where they are copied to/from userland. AFAICS, this
is the least disruptive fix preserving poll(2) ABI and making epoll()
work on all architectures.
As it is, it's simply broken on sparc - try to give it EPOLLWRNORM and
it will trigger only on what would've triggered EPOLLWRBAND on other
architectures. EPOLLWRBAND and EPOLLRDHUP, OTOH, are never triggered
at all on sparc. With this patch they should work consistently on all
architectures"

peeled off in sctp_wait_for_sndbuf.
However, the asoc's new sk could be already closed elsewhere, as it's in
the sendmsg context of the old sk that can't avoid the new sk's closing.
If the sk's last one refcnt is held by this asoc, later on after putting

However when users use sinit in cmsg, it only updates c.sinit_num_ostreams

The SCTP socket event notification subscription information need to be
copied to/from userspace. In support of usercopy hardening, this patch
defines a region in the struct proto slab cache in which userspace copy
operations are allowed. Additionally moves the usercopy fields to be
adjacent for the region to cover both.
example usage trace:
net/sctp/socket.c:
sctp_getsockopt_events(...):
...
copy_to_user(..., &sctp_sk(sk)->subscribe, len)
sctp_setsockopt_events(...):
...
copy_from_user(&sctp_sk(sk)->subscribe, ..., optlen)
sctp_getsockopt_initmsg(...):
...
copy_to_user(..., &sctp_sk(sk)->initmsg, len)
This region is known as the slab cache's usercopy region. Slab caches
can now check that each dynamically sized copy operation involving
cache-managed memory falls entirely within the slab's usercopy region.

Some sockopt handling functions were calculating the length of the

syzbot reported a hang involving SCTP, on which it kept flooding dmesg
with the message:
[ 246.742374] sctp: sctp_transport_update_pmtu: Reported pmtu 508 too
low, using default minimum of 512
That happened because whenever SCTP hits an ICMP Frag Needed, it tries
to adjust to the new MTU and triggers an immediate retransmission. But
it didn't consider the fact that MTUs smaller than the SCTP minimum MTU
allowed (512) would not cause the PMTU to change, and issued the
retransmission anyway (thus leading to another ICMP Frag Needed, and so
on).
As IPv4 (ip_rt_min_pmtu=556) and IPv6 (IPV6_MIN_MTU=1280) minimum MTU
are higher than that, sctp_transport_update_pmtu() is changed to
re-fetch the PMTU that got set after our request, and with that, detect
if there was an actual change or not.
The fix, thus, skips the immediate retransmission if the received ICMP
resulted in no change, in the hope that SCTP will select another path.
Note: The value being used for the minimum MTU (512,
SCTP_DEFAULT_MINSEGMENT) is not right and instead it should be (576,
SCTP_MIN_PMTU), but such change belongs to another patch.
Changes from v1:
- do not disable PMTU discovery, in the light of commit
06ad391919 ("[SCTP] Don't disable PMTU discovery when mtu is small")
and as suggested by Xin Long.
- changed the way to break the rtx loop by detecting if the icmp
resulted in a change or not

Currently, if PMTU discovery is disabled on a given transport, but the
configured value is higher than the actual PMTU, it is likely that we
will get some icmp Frag Needed. The issue is, if PMTU discovery is
disabled, we won't update the information and will issue a
retransmission immediately, which may very well trigger another ICMP,
and another retransmission, leading to a loop.
The fix is to simply not trigger immediate retransmissions if PMTU
discovery is disabled on the given transport.

syzbot noticed a NULL pointer dereference panic in sctp_stream_free()
which was caused by an incomplete error handling in sctp_stream_init().
By not clearing stream->outcnt, it made a for() in sctp_stream_free()

As suggested by Xin Long, this patch also simplifies the error path by
moving it to the only if() that uses it.

If this check fails, an abort packet will be sent, as said in section
2.3.1 of RFC8260.
As ifwdtsn and fwdtsn chunks have different length, it also defines
ftsn_chunk_len for sctp_stream_interleave to describe the chunk size.
Then it replaces all sizeof(struct sctp_fwdtsn_chunk) with
sctp_ftsnchk_len.
It also adds the process for ifwdtsn in rx path. As Marcelo pointed
out, there's no need to add event table for ifwdtsn, but just share

Unordered idata process is more complicated than unordered data:
- It has to add mid into sctp_stream_out to save the next mid value,
which is separated from ordered idata's.
- To support pd for unordered idata, another mid and pd_mode need to
be added to save the message id and pd state in sctp_stream_in.

struct sctp_stream_interleave is defined as a group of functions used
to replace the codes in some place where it needs to do different job
according to if the asoc intl_enabled is set.
With these ops, it only needs to initialize asoc->stream.si with

Most callers of rhashtable_walk_start don't care about a resize event
which is indicated by a return value of -EAGAIN. So calls to
rhashtable_walk_start are wrapped wih code to ignore -EAGAIN. Something
like this is common:
ret = rhashtable_walk_start(rhiter);
if (ret && ret != -EAGAIN)
goto out;
Since zero and -EAGAIN are the only possible return values from the
function this check is pointless. The condition never evaluates to true.
This patch changes rhashtable_walk_start to return void. This simplifies
code for the callers that ignore -EAGAIN. For the few cases where the
caller cares about the resize event, particularly where the table can be
walked in mulitple parts for netlink or seq file dump, the function
rhashtable_walk_start_check has been added that returns -EAGAIN on a
resize event.

val >= 8 means frag_point can even be less than SCTP_DEFAULT_MINSEGMENT.
Then in sctp_datamsg_from_user(), when it's value is greater than cookie
echo len and trying to bundle with cookie echo chunk, the first_len will
overflow.
The worse case is when it's value is equal as cookie echo len, first_len
becomes 0, it will go into a dead loop for fragment later on. In Hangbin

Besides, SCTP_MAX_CHUNK_LEN is the max size of the whole chunk, it should

Working with his reproducer I discovered that those 4 bytes that

With a little code inspection and a shrewd guess I discovered that
sctp_inet6_skb_msgname only initializes the scope_id field for link
local ipv6 addresses to the interface index the link local address
pertains to instead of initializing the scope_id field for all ipv6
addresses.
That is almost reasonable as scope_id's are meaniningful only for link
local addresses. Set the scope_id in all other cases to 0 which is
not a valid interface index to make it clear there is nothing useful
in the scope_id field.
There should be no danger of breaking userspace as the stack leak
guaranteed that previously meaningless random data was being returned.

Commit dfcb9f4f99 ("sctp: deny peeloff operation on asocs with threads
sleeping on it") fixed the race between peeloff and wait sndbuf by
checking waitqueue_active(&asoc->wait) in sctp_do_peeloff().
But it actually doesn't work, as even if waitqueue_active returns false
the waiting sndbuf thread may still not yet hold sk lock. After asoc is
peeled off, sk is not asoc->base.sk any more, then to hold the old sk
lock couldn't make assoc safe to access.
This patch is to fix this by changing to hold the new sk lock if sk is
not asoc->base.sk, meanwhile, also set the sk in sctp_sendmsg with the
new sk.
With this fix, there is no more race between peeloff and waitbuf, the
check 'waitqueue_active' in sctp_do_peeloff can be removed.
Thanks Marcelo and Neil for making this clear.
v1->v2:
fix it by changing to lock the new sock instead of adding a flag in asoc.

Now in sctp_sendmsg sctp_wait_for_sndbuf could schedule out without
holding sock sk. It means the current asoc can be freed elsewhere,
like when receiving an abort packet.
If the asoc is just created in sctp_sendmsg and sctp_wait_for_sndbuf
returns err, the asoc will be freed again due to new_asoc is not nil.
An use-after-free issue would be triggered by this.
This patch is to fix it by setting new_asoc with nil if the asoc is
already dead when cpu schedules back, so that it will not be freed
again in sctp_sendmsg.
v1->v2:
set new_asoc as nil in sctp_sendmsg instead of sctp_wait_for_sndbuf.

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.
Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.
How this work was done:
Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,
Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.
The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.
The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).
All documentation files were explicitly excluded.
The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.
- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.
For non */uapi/* files that summary was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 11139
and resulted in the first patch in this series.
If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930
and resulted in the second patch in this series.
- if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|------

LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1
and that resulted in the third patch in this series.
- when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
the concluded license(s).
- when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.
- In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).
- When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.
In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.
Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.
In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.
Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

Now when migrating sock to another one in sctp_sock_migrate(), it only
resets owner sk for the data in receive queues, not the chunks on out
queues.
It would cause that data chunks length on the sock is not consistent
with sk sk_wmem_alloc. When closing the sock or freeing these chunks,
the old sk would never be freed, and the new sock may crash due to
the overflow sk_wmem_alloc.
syzbot found this issue with this series:
r0 = socket$inet_sctp()

close(r0)
Although listen() should have returned error when one TCP-style socket
is in connecting (I may fix this one in another patch), it could also
be reproduced by peeling off an assoc.
This issue is there since very beginning.
This patch is to reset owner sk for the chunks on out queues so that
sk sk_wmem_alloc has correct value after accept one sock or peeloff
an assoc to one sock.
Note that when resetting owner sk for chunks on outqueue, it has to
sctp_clear_owner_w/skb_orphan chunks before changing assoc->base.sk

due to that sctp_wfree and it's callees are using assoc->base.sk.

so patched sctp_v6_available().
In the v4 implementation it's enough, because

not before the validation of scope_id.

There were quite a few overlapping sets of changes here.
Daniel's bug fix for off-by-ones in the new BPF branch instructions,
along with the added allowances for "data_end > ptr + x" forms
collided with the metadata additions.
Along with those three changes came veritifer test cases, which in
their final form I tried to group together properly. If I had just
trimmed GIT's conflict tags as-is, this would have split up the
meta tests unnecessarily.
In the socketmap code, a set of preemption disabling changes
overlapped with the rename of bpf_compute_data_end() to
bpf_compute_data_pointers().
Changes were made to the mv88e6060.c driver set addr method
which got removed in net-next.
The hyperv transport socket layer had a locking change in 'net'
which overlapped with a change of socket state macro usage
in 'net-next'.

Now sctp processes icmp redirect packet in sctp_icmp_redirect where
it calls sctp_transport_dst_check in which tp->dst can be released.
The problem is before calling sctp_transport_dst_check, it doesn't
check sock_owned_by_user, which means tp->dst could be freed while
a process is accessing it with owning the socket.
An use-after-free issue could be triggered by this.
This patch is to fix it by checking sock_owned_by_user before calling
sctp_transport_dst_check in sctp_icmp_redirect, so that it would not
release tp->dst if users still hold sock lock.
Besides, the same issue fixed in commit 45caeaa5ac ("dccp/tcp: fix
routing redirect race") on sctp also needs this check.

Now when peeling off an association to the sock in another netns, all
transports in this assoc are not to be rehashed and keep use the old
key in hashtable.
As a transport uses sk->net as the hash key to insert into hashtable,
it would miss removing these transports from hashtable due to the new
netns when closing the sock and all transports are being freeed, then
later an use-after-free issue could be caused when looking up an asoc
and dereferencing those transports.
This is a very old issue since very beginning, ChunYu found it with
syzkaller fuzz testing with this series:
socket$inet6_sctp()
bind$inet6()
sendto$inet6()
unshare(0x40000000)
getsockopt$inet_sctp6_SCTP_GET_ASSOC_ID_LIST()
getsockopt$inet_sctp6_SCTP_SOCKOPT_PEELOFF()
This patch is to block this call when peeling one assoc off from one
netns to another one, so that the netns of all transport would not
go out-sync with the key in hashtable.
Note that this patch didn't fix it by rehashing transports, as it's
difficult to handle the situation when the tuple is already in use
in the new netns. Besides, no one would like to peel off one assoc
to another netns, considering ipaddrs, ifaces, etc. are usually
different.

This patch introduces RFC Draft ndata section 3.2 Priority Based
Scheduler (SCTP_SS_RR).
Works by maintaining a list of enqueued streams and tracking the last
one used to send data. When the datamsg is done, it switches to the next
stream.

This patch introduces RFC Draft ndata section 3.4 Priority Based
Scheduler (SCTP_SS_PRIO).
It works by having a struct sctp_stream_priority for each priority
configured. This struct is then enlisted on a queue ordered per priority
if, and only if, there is a stream with data queued, so that dequeueing
is very straightforward: either finish current datamsg or simply dequeue
from the highest priority queued, which is the next stream pointed, and
that's it.
If there are multiple streams assigned with the same priority and with
data queued, it will do round robin amongst them while respecting
datamsgs boundaries (when not using idata chunks), to be reasonably
fair.
We intentionally don't maintain a list of priorities nor a list of all
streams with the same priority to save memory. The first would mean at
least 2 other pointers per priority (which, for 1000 priorities, that
can mean 16kB) and the second would also mean 2 other pointers but per
stream. As SCTP supports up to 65535 streams on a given asoc, that's
1MB. This impacts when giving a priority to some stream, as we have to
find out if the new priority is already being used and if we can free
the old one, and also when tearing down.
The new fields in struct sctp_stream_out_ext and sctp_stream are added
under a union because that memory is to be shared with other schedulers.

This patch introduces the hooks necessary to do stream scheduling, as
per RFC Draft ndata. It also introduces the first scheduler, which is
what we do today but now factored out: first come first served (FCFS).
With stream scheduling now we have to track which chunk was enqueued on
which stream and be able to select another other than the in front of
the main outqueue. So we introduce a list on sctp_stream_out_ext
structure for this purpose.
We reuse sctp_chunk->transmitted_list space for the list above, as the
chunk cannot belong to the two lists at the same time. By using the
union in there, we can have distinct names for these moments.
sctp_sched_ops are the operations expected to be implemented by each
scheduler. The dequeueing is a bit particular to this implementation but
it is to match how we dequeue packets today. We first dequeue and then
check if it fits the packet and if not, we requeue it at head. Thus why
we don't have a peek operation but have dequeue_done instead, which is
called once the chunk can be safely considered as transmitted.
The check removed from sctp_outq_flush is now performed by
sctp_stream_outq_migrate, which is only called during assoc setup.
(sctp_sendmsg() also checks for it)
The only operation that is foreseen but not yet added here is a way to
signalize that a new packet is starting or that the packet is done, for
round robin scheduler per packet, but is intentionally left to the
patch that actually implements it.
Support for I-DATA chunks, also described in this RFC, with user message
interleaving is straightforward as it just requires the schedulers to
probe for the feature and ignore datamsg boundaries when dequeueing.

With the stream schedulers, sctp_stream_out will become too big to be
allocated by kmalloc and as we need to allocate with BH disabled, we
cannot use __vmalloc in sctp_stream_init().
This patch moves out the stats from sctp_stream_out to
sctp_stream_out_ext, which will be allocated only when the application
tries to sendmsg something on it.
Just the introduction of sctp_stream_out_ext would already fix the issue
described above by splitting the allocation in two. Moving the stats
to it also reduces the pressure on the allocator as we will ask for less
memory atomically when creating the socket and we will use GFP_KERNEL
later.
Then, for stream schedulers, we will just use sctp_stream_out_ext.

As SCTP supports up to 65535 streams, that can lead to very large
allocations in sctp_stream_init(). As Xin Long noticed, systems with
small amounts of memory are more prone to not have enough memory and
dump warnings on dmesg initiated by user actions. Thus, silence them.
Also, if the reallocation of stream->out is not necessary, skip it and
keep the memory we already have.

sctp_diag would not actually dump out sk/asoc if inet_sctp_diag_fill
returns err, in which case it shouldn't mark sk dumped by setting
cb->args[3] as 1 in sctp_sock_dump().
Otherwise, it could cause some asocs to have no parent's sk dumped
in 'ss --sctp'.
So this patch is to not set cb->args[3] when inet_sctp_diag_fill()
returns err in sctp_sock_dump().

Commit 86fdb3448c ("sctp: ensure ep is not destroyed before doing the
dump") tried to fix an use-after-free issue by checking !sctp_sk(sk)->ep
with holding sock and sock lock.
But Paolo noticed that endpoint could be destroyed in sctp_rcv without
sock lock protection. It means the use-after-free issue still could be
triggered when sctp_rcv put and destroy ep after sctp_sock_dump checks
!ep, although it's pretty hard to reproduce.
I could reproduce it by mdelay in sctp_rcv while msleep in sctp_close
and sctp_sock_dump long time.
This patch is to add another param cb_done to sctp_for_each_transport
and dump ep->assocs with holding tsp after jumping out of transport's
traversal in it to avoid this issue.
It can also improve sctp diag dump to make it run faster, as no need
to save sk into cb->args[5] and keep calling sctp_for_each_transport
any more.
This patch is also to use int * instead of int for the pos argument
in sctp_for_each_transport, which could make postion increment only
in sctp_for_each_transport and no need to keep changing cb->args[2]
in sctp_sock_filter and sctp_sock_dump any more.

Commit fb586f2530 ("sctp: delay calls to sk_data_ready() as much as
possible") minimized the number of wake ups that are triggered in case
the association receives a packet with multiple data chunks on it and/or
when io_events are enabled and then commit 0970f5b366 ("sctp: signal
sk_data_ready earlier on data chunks reception") moved the wake up to as
soon as possible. It thus relies on the state machine running later to
clean the flag that the event was already generated.
The issue is that there are 2 call paths that calls
sctp_ulpq_tail_event() outside of the state machine, causing the flag to
linger and possibly omitting a needed wake up in the sequence.
One of the call paths is when enabling SCTP_SENDER_DRY_EVENTS via
setsockopt(SCTP_EVENTS), as noticed by Harald Welte. The other is when
partial reliability triggers removal of chunks from the send queue when
the application calls sendmsg().
This commit fixes it by not setting the flag in case the socket is not
owned by the user, as it won't be cleaned later. This works for
user-initiated calls and also for rx path processing.
