aca5721e95 MIPS: Add generic QEMU PRid and cpu type identifiers
Latest versions of QEMU added support for mips32r6-generic and
mips64r6-generic cpu types so add related definitions in preparation

ed4cbc81ad MIPS: HTW: Prevent accidental HTW start due to nested htw_{start, stop}
activate_mm() and switch_mm() call get_new_mmu_context() which in turn
can enable the HTW before the entryhi is changed with the new ASID.
Since the latter will enable the HTW in local_flush_tlb_all(),
then there is a small timing window where the HTW is running with the
new ASID but with an old pgd since the TLBMISS_HANDLER_SETUP_PGD
hasn't assigned a new one yet. In order to prevent that, we introduce a
simple htw counter to avoid starting HTW accidentally due to nested
htw_{start,stop}() sequences. Moreover, since various IPI calls can
enforce TLB flushing operations on a different core, such an operation
may interrupt another htw_{stop,start} in progress leading inconsistent
updates of the htw_seq variable. In order to avoid that, we disable the
interrupts whenever we update that variable.

fde3538a8a MIPS: asm: pgtable: Prevent HTW race when updating PTEs
Whenever we modify a page table entry, we need to ensure that the HTW
will not fetch a stable entry. And for that to happen we need to ensure
that HTW is stopped before we modify the said entry otherwise the HTW
may already be in the process of reading that entry and fetching the
old information. As a result of which, we replace the htw_reset() calls
with htw_{stop,start} in more appropriate places. This also removes the
remaining users of htw_reset() and as a result we drop that macro

d79d853df1 MIPS: mm: Add debug information for userland SIGSEGV signals.
Commit 41c594ab65 ("[MIPS] MT: Improved multithreading support.")
removed useful debug information for userland segmentation faults.
This patch bring this back along with the ability to determine the
name of the object file where the EPC and RA registers point at.
Furthermore, we select the SYSCTL_EXCEPTION_TRACE symbol for MIPS
which is the de facto solution to turn userland exception logging
on and off via the /proc/sys/debug/exception-trace file.

cb9e3c292d mm: vmalloc: pass additional vm_flags to __vmalloc_node_range()
For instrumenting global variables KASan will shadow memory backing memory
for modules.  So on module loading we will need to allocate memory for
shadow and map it at address in shadow that corresponds to the address
allocated in module_alloc().

__vmalloc_node_range() could be used for this purpose, except it puts a
guard hole after allocated area.  Guard hole in shadow memory should be a
problem because at some future point we might need to have a shadow memory
at address occupied by guard hole.  So we could fail to allocate shadow
for module_alloc().

Now we have VM_NO_GUARD flag disabling guard page, so we need to pass into
__vmalloc_node_range().  Add new parameter 'vm_flags' to
__vmalloc_node_range() function.

729d8e093c mips: use %*pb[l] to print bitmaps including cpumasks and nodemasks
printk and friends can now format bitmaps using '%*pb[l]'.  cpumask
and nodemask also provide cpumask_pr_args() and nodemask_pr_args()
respectively which can be used to generate the two printf arguments
necessary to format the specified cpu/nodemask.

 but the plan is to auto-tune this in the future.
 
 ARM/ARM64: the highlights are support for GICv3 emulation and dirty page
 tracking
 
 s390: several optimizations and bugfixes.  Also a first: a feature
 exposed by KVM (UUID and long guest name in /proc/sysinfo) before
 it is available in IBM's hypervisor! :)

f56141e3e2 all arches, signal: move restart_block to struct task_struct
If an attacker can cause a controlled kernel stack overflow, overwriting
the restart block is a very juicy exploit target.  This is because the
restart_block is held in the same memory allocation as the kernel stack.

Moving the restart block to struct task_struct prevents this exploit by
making the restart_block harder to locate.

Note that there are other fields in thread_info that are also easy
targets, at least on some architectures.

It's also a decent simplification, since the restart code is more or less
identical on all architectures.

9791554b45 MIPS,prctl: add PR_[GS]ET_FP_MODE prctl options for MIPS
Userland code may be built using an ABI which permits linking to objects
that have more restrictive floating point requirements. For example,
userland code may be built to target the O32 FPXX ABI. Such code may be
linked with other FPXX code, or code built for either one of the more
restrictive FP32 or FP64. When linking with more restrictive code, the
overall requirement of the process becomes that of the more restrictive
code. The kernel has no way to know in advance which mode the process
will need to be executed in, and indeed it may need to change during
execution. The dynamic loader is the only code which will know the
overall required mode, and so it needs to have a means to instruct the
kernel to switch the FP mode of the process.

This patch introduces 2 new options to the prctl syscall which provide
such a capability. The FP mode of the process is represented as a
simple bitmask combining a number of mode bits mirroring those present
in the hardware. Userland can either retrieve the current FP mode of
the process:

  mode = prctl(PR_GET_FP_MODE);

or modify the current FP mode of the process:

61f77eda9b mm/hugetlb: reduce arch dependent code around follow_huge_*
Currently we have many duplicates in definitions around
follow_huge_addr(), follow_huge_pmd(), and follow_huge_pud(), so this
patch tries to remove the m.  The basic idea is to put the default
implementation for these functions in mm/hugetlb.c as weak symbols
(regardless of CONFIG_ARCH_WANT_GENERAL_HUGETL B), and to implement
arch-specific code only when the arch needs it.

For follow_huge_addr(), only powerpc and ia64 have their own
implementation, and in all other architectures this function just returns
ERR_PTR(-EINVAL).  So this patch sets returning ERR_PTR(-EINVAL) as
default.

As for follow_huge_(pmd|pud)(), if (pmd|pud)_huge() is implemented to
always return 0 in your architecture (like in ia64 or sparc,) it's never
called (the callsite is optimized away) no matter how implemented it is.
So in such architectures, we don't need arch-specific implementation.

In some architecture (like mips, s390 and tile,) their current
arch-specific follow_huge_(pmd|pud)() are effectively identical with the
common code, so this patch lets these architecture use the common code.

One exception is metag, where pmd_huge() could return non-zero but it
expects follow_huge_pmd() to always return NULL.  This means that we need
arch-specific implementation which returns NULL.  This behavior looks
strange to me (because non-zero pmd_huge() implies that the architecture
supports PMD-based hugepage, so follow_huge_pmd() can/should return some
relevant value,) but that's beyond this cleanup patch, so let's keep it.

Justification of non-trivial changes:
- in s390, follow_huge_pmd() checks !MACHINE_HAS_HPAGE at first, and this
  patch removes the check. This is OK because we can assume MACHINE_HAS_HPAGE
  is true when follow_huge_pmd() can be called (note that pmd_huge() has
  the same check and always returns 0 for !MACHINE_HAS_HPAGE.)
- in s390 and mips, we use HPAGE_MASK instead of PMD_MASK as done in common
  code. This patch forces these archs use PMD_MASK, but it's OK because
  they are identical in both archs.
  In s390, both of HPAGE_SHIFT and PMD_SHIFT are 20.
  In mips, HPAGE_SHIFT is defined as (PAGE_SHIFT + PAGE_SHIFT - 3) and
  PMD_SHIFT is define as (PAGE_SHIFT + PAGE_SHIFT + PTE_ORDER - 3), but
  PTE_ORDER is always 0, so these are identical.

From a user interface perspective, nothing has changed, because the
remap_file_pages() syscall still exists, it's just done by emulating the
old behavior by creating a lot of individual small mappings instead of
one non-linear one.

The emulation is slower than the old "native" non-linear mappings, but
nobody really uses or cares about remap_file_pages(), and simplifying
the VM is a big advantage.

f781951299 kvm: add halt_poll_ns module parameter
This patch introduces a new module parameter for the KVM module; when it
is present, KVM attempts a bit of polling on every HLT before scheduling
itself out via kvm_vcpu_block.

This parameter helps a lot for latency-bound workloads---in particular
I tested it with O_DSYNC writes with a battery-backed disk in the host.
In this case, writes are fast (because the data doesn't have to go all
the way to the platters) but they cannot be merged by either the host or
the guest.  KVM's performance here is usually around 30% of bare metal,
or 50% if you use cache=directsync or cache=writethrough (these
parameters avoid that the guest sends pointless flush requests, and
at the same time they are not slow because of the battery-backed cache).
The bad performance happens because on every halt the host CPU decides
to halt itself too.  When the interrupt comes, the vCPU thread is then
migrated to a new physical CPU, and in general the latency is horrible
because the vCPU thread has to be scheduled back in.

With this patch performance reaches 60-65% of bare metal and, more
important, 99% of what you get if you use idle=poll in the guest.  This
means that the tunable gets rid of this particular bottleneck, and more
work can be done to improve performance in the kernel or QEMU.

Of course there is some price to pay; every time an otherwise idle vCPUs
is interrupted by an interrupt, it will poll unnecessarily and thus
impose a little load on the host.  The above results were obtained with
a mostly random value of the parameter (500000), and the load was around
1.5-2.5% CPU usage on one of the host's core for each idle guest vCPU.

The patch also adds a new stat, /sys/kernel/debug/kvm/halt_successful_poll,
that can be used to tune the parameter.  It counts how many HLT
instructions received an interrupt during the polling period; each
successful poll avoids that Linux schedules the VCPU thread out and back
in, and may also avoid a likely trip to C1 and back for the physical CPU.

While the VM is idle, a Linux 4 VCPU VM halts around 10 times per second.
Of these halts, almost all are failed polls.  During the benchmark,
instead, basically all halts end within the polling period, except a more
or less constant stream of 50 per second coming from vCPUs that are not
running the benchmark.  The wasted time is thus very low.  Things may
be slightly different for Windows VMs, which have a ~10 ms timer tick.

The effect is also visible on Marcelo's recently-introduced latency
test for the TSC deadline timer.  Though of course a non-RT kernel has
awful latency bounds, the latency of the timer is around 8000-10000 clock
cycles compared to 20000-120000 without setting halt_poll_ns.  For the TSC
deadline timer, thus, the effect is both a smaller average latency and
a smaller variance.

ae58d882bf MIPS: cevt-r4k: Drop GIC special case
The cevt-r4k driver used to call into the GIC driver to find whether the
timer was pending, but only with External Interrupt Controller (EIC)
mode, where the Cause.IP bits can't be used as they encode the interrupt
priority level (Cause.RIPL) instead.

However commit e9de688dac ("irqchip: mips-gic: Support local
interrupts") changed the condition from cpu_has_veic to gic_present.
This fails on cores such as P5600 which have a GIC but the local
interrupts aren't routable by the GIC, causing c0_compare_int_usable()
to consider the interrupt unusable so r4k_clockevent_init() fails.

The previous behaviour, added in commit 98b67c37db ("MIPS: Add EIC
support for GIC."), wasn't really correct either as far as I can tell,
since P5600 apparently supports EIC mode too, and in any case the use of
Cause.TI with r2 should have been sufficient anyway since commit
010c108d7a ("MIPS: PowerTV: Fix support for timer interrupts with > 64
external IRQs").

Therefore drop the call into the gic driver altogether, and add a
comment in c0_compare_int_pending() to clarify that Cause.TI does get
checked since MIPS r2.

f798217dfd KVM: MIPS: Don't leak FPU/DSP to guest
The FPU and DSP are enabled via the CP0 Status CU1 and MX bits by
kvm_mips_set_c0_status() on a guest exit, presumably in case there is
active state that needs saving if pre-emption occurs. However neither of
these bits are cleared again when returning to the guest.

This effectively gives the guest access to the FPU/DSP hardware after
the first guest exit even though it is not aware of its presence,
allowing FP instructions in guest user code to intermittently actually
execute instead of trapping into the guest OS for emulation. It will
then read & manipulate the hardware FP registers which technically
belong to the user process (e.g. QEMU), or are stale from another user
process. It can also crash the guest OS by causing an FP exception, for
which a guest exception handler won't have been registered.

First lets save and disable the FPU (and MSA) state with lose_fpu(1)
before entering the guest. This simplifies the problem, especially for
when guest FPU/MSA support is added in the future, and prevents FR=1 FPU
state being live when the FR bit gets cleared for the guest, which
according to the architecture causes the contents of the FPU and vector
registers to become UNPREDICTABLE.

We can then safely remove the enabling of the FPU in
kvm_mips_set_c0_status(), since there should never be any active FPU or
MSA state to save at pre-emption, which should plug the FPU leak.

DSP state is always live rather than being lazily restored, so for that
it is simpler to just clear the MX bit again when re-entering the guest.

Ensure any hardware page table walker (HTW) is disabled while in KVM
guest mode, as KVM doesn't yet set up hardware page table walking for
guest mappings so the wrong mappings would get loaded, resulting in the
guest hanging or crashing once it reaches userland.

The HTW is disabled and re-enabled around the call to
__kvm_mips_vcpu_run() which does the initial switch into guest mode and
the final switch out of guest context. Additionally it is enabled for
the duration of guest exits (i.e. kvm_mips_handle_exit()), getting
disabled again before returning back to guest or host.

In all cases the HTW is only disabled in normal kernel mode while
interrupts are disabled, so that the HTW doesn't get left disabled if
the process is preempted.

39148e94e3 MIPS: fork: Fix MSA/FPU/DSP context duplication race
There is a race in the MIPS fork code which allows the child to get a
stale copy of parent MSA/FPU/DSP state that is active in hardware
registers when the fork() is called. This is because copy_thread() saves
the live register state into the child context only if the hardware is
currently in use, apparently on the assumption that the hardware state
cannot have been saved and disabled since the initial duplication of the
task_struct. However preemption is certainly possible during this
window.

An example sequence of events is as follows:

1) The parent userland process puts important data into saved floating
   point registers ($f20-$f31), which are then dirty compared to the
   process' stored context.

2) The parent process calls fork() which does a clone system call.

3) In the kernel, do_fork() -> copy_process() -> dup_task_struct() ->
   arch_dup_task_struct() (which uses the weakly defined default
   implementation). This duplicates the parent process' task context,
   which includes a stale version of its FP context from when it was
   last saved, probably some time before (1).

4) At some point before copy_process() calls copy_thread(), such as when
   duplicating the memory map, the process is desceduled. Perhaps it is
   preempted asynchronously, or perhaps it sleeps while blocked on a
   mutex. The dirty FP state in the FP registers is saved to the parent
   process' context and the FPU is disabled.

5) When the process is rescheduled again it continues copying state
   until it gets to copy_thread(), which checks whether the FPU is in
   use, so that it can copy that dirty state to the child process' task
   context. Because of the deschedule however the FPU is not in use, so
   the child process' context is left with stale FP context from the
   last time the parent saved it (some time before (1)).

6) When the new child process is scheduled it reads the important data
   from the saved floating point register, and ends up doing a NULL
   pointer dereference as a result of the stale data.

This use of saved floating point registers across function calls can be
triggered fairly easily by explicitly using inline asm with a current
(MIPS R2) compiler, but is far more likely to happen unintentionally
with a MIPS R6 compiler where the FP registers are more likely to get
used as scratch registers for storing non-fp data.

It is easily fixed, in the same way that other architectures do it, by
overriding the implementation of arch_dup_task_struct() to sync the
dirty hardware state to the parent process' task context *prior* to
duplicating it, rather than copying straight to the child process' task
context in copy_thread(). Note, the FPU hardware is not disabled so the
parent process may continue executing with the live register context,
but now the child process is guaranteed to have an identical copy of it
at that point.

9ead8632bb MIPS: Fix C0_Pagegrain[IEC] support.
The following commits:

  5890f70f15 (MIPS: Use dedicated exception handler if CPU supports RI/XI exceptions)
  6575b1d417 (MIPS: kernel: cpu-probe: Detect unique RI/XI exceptions)

break the kernel for *all* existing MIPS CPUs that implement the
CP0_PageGrain[IEC] bit.  They cause the TLB exception handlers to be
generated without the legacy execute-inhibit handling, but never set
the CP0_PageGrain[IEC] bit to activate the use of dedicated exception
vectors for execute-inhibit exceptions.  The result is that upon
detection of an execute-inhibit violation, we loop forever in the TLB
exception handlers instead of sending SIGSEGV to the task.

If we are generating TLB exception handlers expecting separate
vectors, we must also enable the CP0_PageGrain[IEC] feature.

The bug was introduced in kernel version 3.17.

Commit 842dfc11ea ("MIPS: Fix build with binutils 2.24.51+") in v3.18
enabled -msoft-float and sprinkled ".set hardfloat" where necessary to
use FP instructions. However it missed enable_restore_fp_context() which
since v3.17 does a ctc1 with inline assembly, causing the following
assembler errors on Mentor's 2014.05 toolchain:

Add a write_32bit_cp1_register() macro to compliment the
read_32bit_cp1_register() macro. This is to abstract whether .set
hardfloat needs to be used based on GAS_HAS_SET_HARDFLOAT.

The implementation of _read_32bit_cp1_register() .sets mips1 due to
failure of gas v2.19 to assemble cfc1 for Octeon (see commit
25c3000300 ("MIPS: Override assembler target architecture for
octeon.")). I haven't copied this over to _write_32bit_cp1_register() as
I'm uncertain whether it applies to ctc1 too, or whether anybody cares
about that version of binutils any longer.

c7754e7510 MIPS: Fix kernel lockup or crash after CPU offline/online
As printk() invocation can cause e.g. a TLB miss, printk() cannot be
called before the exception handlers have been properly initialized.
This can happen e.g. when netconsole has been loaded as a kernel module
and the TLB table has been cleared when a CPU was offline.

Call cpu_report() in start_secondary() only after the exception handlers
have been initialized to fix this.

Without the patch the kernel will randomly either lockup or crash
after a CPU is onlined and the console driver is a module.

33692f2759 vm: add VM_FAULT_SIGSEGV handling support
The core VM already knows about VM_FAULT_SIGBUS, but cannot return a
"you should SIGSEGV" error, because the SIGSEGV case was generally
handled by the caller - usually the architecture fault handler.

That results in lots of duplication - all the architecture fault
handlers end up doing very similar "look up vma, check permissions, do
retries etc" - but it generally works.  However, there are cases where
the VM actually wants to SIGSEGV, and applications _expect_ SIGSEGV.

In particular, when accessing the stack guard page, libsigsegv expects a
SIGSEGV.  And it usually got one, because the stack growth is handled by
that duplicated architecture fault handler.

However, when the generic VM layer started propagating the error return
from the stack expansion in commit fee7e49d45 ("mm: propagate error
from stack expansion even for guard page"), that now exposed the
existing VM_FAULT_SIGBUS result to user space.  And user space really
expected SIGSEGV, not SIGBUS.

To fix that case, we need to add a VM_FAULT_SIGSEGV, and teach all those
duplicate architecture fault handlers about it.  They all already have
the code to handle SIGSEGV, so it's about just tying that new return
value to the existing code, but it's all a bit annoying.

This is the mindless minimal patch to do this.  A more extensive patch
would be to try to gather up the mostly shared fault handling logic into
one generic helper routine, and long-term we really should do that
cleanup.

Just from this patch, you can generally see that most architectures just
copied (directly or indirectly) the old x86 way of doing things, but in
the meantime that original x86 model has been improved to hold the VM
semaphore for shorter times etc and to handle VM_FAULT_RETRY and other
"newer" things, so it would be a good idea to bring all those
improvements to the generic case and teach other architectures about
them too.

a3e6c1eff5 MIPS: IRQ: Fix disable_irq on CPU IRQs
If the irq_chip does not define .irq_disable, any call to disable_irq
will defer disabling the IRQ until it fires while marked as disabled.
This assumes that the handler function checks for this condition, which
handle_percpu_irq does not. In this case, calling disable_irq leads to
an IRQ storm, if the interrupt fires while disabled.

This optimization is only useful when disabling the IRQ is slow, which
is not true for the MIPS CPU IRQ.

Disable this optimization by implementing .irq_disable and .irq_enable

c3f134fb39 MIPS: smp-mt,smp-cmp: Enable all HW IRQs on secondary CPUs
Commit 18743d2781 ("irqchip: mips-gic: Stop using per-platform mapping
tables") in v3.19-rc1 changed the routing of IPIs through the GIC to go
to the HW0 IRQ pin along with the rest of the GIC interrupts, rather
than to HW1 and HW2 pins.

This breaks SMP boot using the CMP or MT SMP implementations because HW0
doesn't get unmasked when secondary CPUs are initialised so the IPIs
will never interrupt secondary CPUs (nor any other interrupts routed
through the GIC).

Commit ff1e29ade4 ("MIPS: smp-cps: Enable all hardware interrupts on
secondary CPUs") fixed this in advance for the CPS SMP implementation by
unmasking all hardware interrupt lines for secondary CPUs, so lets do
the same for the CMP and MT implementations.

e967ef022e MIPS: Fix restart of indirect syscalls
When 32-bit MIPS userspace invokes a syscall indirectly via syscall(number,
arg1, ..., arg7), the kernel looks up the actual syscall based on the given
number, shifts the other arguments to the left, and jumps to the syscall.

If the syscall is interrupted by a signal and indicates it needs to be
restarted by the kernel (by returning ERESTARTNOINTR for example), the
syscall must be called directly, since the number is no longer the first
argument, and the other arguments are now staged for a direct call.

Before shifting the arguments, store the syscall number in pt_regs->regs[2].
This gets copied temporarily into pt_regs->regs[0] after the syscall returns.
If the syscall needs to be restarted, handle_signal()/do_signal() copies the
number back to pt_regs->reg[2], which ends up in $v0 once control returns to
userspace.

fd75a33e00 MIPS: ELF: fix loading o32 binaries on 64-bit kernels
Commit 90cee759f0 ("MIPS: ELF: Set FP mode according to .MIPS.abiflags")
introduced checking of the .MIPS.abiflags ELF section but did so through
the native sized "elfhdr" and "elf_phdr" structures regardless whether the
ELF was actually 32-bit or 64-bit. This produces wrong results when trying
to use a 64-bit kernel to load o32 ELF files.

Change the uses of the generic elf structures to their 32-bit versions.
Since the code bails out on any 64-bit cases, this is OK until they are
implemented.

Commit 4227a2d4ef (MIPS: Support for hybrid
FPRs) changes the kernel to execute read_c0_config5() even on processors
that don't have a Config5 register.  According to the arch spec the
behaviour of trying to read or write this register is UNDEFINED where this
register doesn't exist, that is merely looking at this register is
already cruel because that might kill a kitten.

In case of Qemu older than v2.2 Qemu has elected to implement this
UNDEFINED behaviour by taking a RI exception - which then fries the
kernel:

SRCU is not necessary to be compiled by default in all cases. For tinification
efforts not compiling SRCU unless necessary is desirable.

The current patch tries to make compiling SRCU optional by introducing a new
Kconfig option CONFIG_SRCU which is selected when any of the components making
use of SRCU are selected.

If we do not select CONFIG_SRCU, srcu.o will not be compiled at all.

1077fa36f2 arch: Add lightweight memory barriers dma_rmb() and dma_wmb()
There are a number of situations where the mandatory barriers rmb() and
wmb() are used to order memory/memory operations in the device drivers
and those barriers are much heavier than they actually need to be.  For
example in the case of PowerPC wmb() calls the heavy-weight sync
instruction when for coherent memory operations all that is really needed
is an lsync or eieio instruction.

This commit adds a coherent only version of the mandatory memory barriers
rmb() and wmb().  In most cases this should result in the barrier being the
same as the SMP barriers for the SMP case, however in some cases we use a
barrier that is somewhere in between rmb() and smp_rmb().  For example on
ARM the rmb barriers break down as follows:

  dma_rmb() dmb(osh) data memory barrier - outer sharable
  smp_rmb() dmb(ish) data memory barrier - inner sharable

These new barriers are not as safe as the standard rmb() and wmb().
Specifically they do not guarantee ordering between coherent and incoherent
memories.  The primary use case for these would be to enforce ordering of
reads and writes when accessing coherent memory that is shared between the
CPU and a device.

It may also be noted that there is no dma_mb().  Most architectures don't
provide a good mechanism for performing a coherent only full barrier without
resorting to the same mechanism used in mb().  As such there isn't much to
be gained in trying to define such a function.

8a44971841 arch: Cleanup read_barrier_depends() and comments
This patch is meant to cleanup the handling of read_barrier_depends and
smp_read_barrier_depends.  In multiple spots in the kernel headers
read_barrier_depends is defined as "do {} while (0)", however we then go
into the SMP vs non-SMP sections and have the SMP version reference
read_barrier_depends, and the non-SMP define it as yet another empty
do/while.

With this commit I went through and cleaned out the duplicate definitions
and reduced the number of definitions down to 2 per header.  In addition I
moved the 50 line comments for the macro from the x86 and mips headers that
defined it as an empty do/while to those that were actually defining the
macro, alpha and blackfin.

92a578b064 ACPI and power management updates for 3.19-rc1
This time we have some more new material than we used to have during
 the last couple of development cycles.
 
 The most important part of it to me is the introduction of a unified
 interface for accessing device properties provided by platform
 firmware.  It works with Device Trees and ACPI in a uniform way and
 drivers using it need not worry about where the properties come
 from as long as the platform firmware (either DT or ACPI) makes
 them available.  It covers both devices and "bare" device node
 objects without struct device representation as that turns out to
 be necessary in some cases.  This has been in the works for quite
 a few months (and development cycles) and has been approved by
 all of the relevant maintainers.
 
 On top of that, some drivers are switched over to the new interface
 (at25, leds-gpio, gpio_keys_polled) and some additional changes are
 made to the core GPIO subsystem to allow device drivers to manipulate
 GPIOs in the "canonical" way on platforms that provide GPIO information
 in their ACPI tables, but don't assign names to GPIO lines (in which
 case the driver needs to do that on the basis of what it knows about
 the device in question).  That also has been approved by the GPIO
 core maintainers and the rfkill driver is now going to use it.
 
 Second is support for hardware P-states in the intel_pstate driver.
 It uses CPUID to detect whether or not the feature is supported by
 the processor in which case it will be enabled by default.  However,
 it can be disabled entirely from the kernel command line if necessary.
 
 Next is support for a platform firmware interface based on ACPI
 operation regions used by the PMIC (Power Management Integrated
 Circuit) chips on the Intel Baytrail-T and Baytrail-T-CR platforms.
 That interface is used for manipulating power resources and for
 thermal management: sensor temperature reporting, trip point setting
 and so on.
 
 Also the ACPI core is now going to support the _DEP configuration
 information in a limited way.  Basically, _DEP it supposed to reflect
 off-the-hierarchy dependencies between devices which may be very
 indirect, like when AML for one device accesses locations in an
 operation region handled by another device's driver (usually, the
 device depended on this way is a serial bus or GPIO controller).
 The support added this time is sufficient to make the ACPI battery
 driver work on Asus T100A, but it is general enough to be able to
 cover some other use cases in the future.
 
 Finally, we have a new cpufreq driver for the Loongson1B processor.
 
 In addition to the above, there are fixes and cleanups all over the
 place as usual and a traditional ACPICA update to a recent upstream
 release.
 
 As far as the fixes go, the ACPI LPSS (Low-power Subsystem) driver
 for Intel platforms should be able to handle power management of
 the DMA engine correctly, the cpufreq-dt driver should interact
 with the thermal subsystem in a better way and the ACPI backlight
 driver should handle some more corner cases, among other things.
 
 On top of the ACPICA update there are fixes for race conditions
 in the ACPICA's interrupt handling code which might lead to some
 random and strange looking failures on some systems.
 
 In the cleanups department the most visible part is the series
 of commits targeted at getting rid of the CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME
 configuration option.  That was triggered by a discussion
 regarding the generic power domains code during which we realized
 that trying to support certain combinations of PM config options
 was painful and not really worth it, because nobody would use them
 in production anyway.  For this reason, we decided to make
 CONFIG_PM_SLEEP select CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME and that lead to the
 conclusion that the latter became redundant and CONFIG_PM could
 be used instead of it.  The material here makes that replacement
 in a major part of the tree, but there will be at least one more

 "The real interesting irq updates:

   - Support for hierarchical irq domains:

     For complex interrupt routing scenarios where more than one
     interrupt related chip is involved we had no proper representation
     in the generic interrupt infrastructure so far.  That made people
     implement rather ugly constructs in their nested irq chip
     implementations.  The main offenders are x86 and arm/gic.

     To distangle that mess we have now hierarchical irqdomains which
     seperate the various interrupt chips and connect them via the
     hierarchical domains.  That keeps the domain specific details
     internal to the particular hierarchy level and removes the
     criss/cross referencing of chip internals.  The resulting hierarchy
     for a complex x86 system will look like this:

          msi-0         mapped: 2
          dmar-ir-1     mapped: 69
            ioapic-1    mapped: 4
            ioapic-0    mapped: 20
            pci-msi-2   mapped: 45

     Neither ioapic nor pci-msi know about the dmar interrupt remapping
     between themself and the vector domain.  If interrupt remapping is
     disabled ioapic and pci-msi become direct childs of the vector
     domain.

     In hindsight we should have done that years ago, but in hindsight
     we always know better :)

   - Support for generic MSI interrupt domain handling

     We have more and more non PCI related MSI interrupts, so providing
     a generic infrastructure for this is better than having all
     affected architectures implementing their own private hacks.

   - Support for PCI-MSI interrupt domain handling, based on the generic
     MSI support.

     This part carries the pci/msi branch from Bjorn Helgaas pci tree to
     avoid a massive conflict.  The PCI/MSI parts are acked by Bjorn.

  I have two more branches on top of this.  The full conversion of x86
  to hierarchical domains and a partial conversion of arm/gic"

89aa075832 net: sock: allow eBPF programs to be attached to sockets
introduce new setsockopt() command:

setsockopt(sock, SOL_SOCKET, SO_ATTACH_BPF, &prog_fd, sizeof(prog_fd))

where prog_fd was received from syscall bpf(BPF_PROG_LOAD, attr, ...)
and attr->prog_type == BPF_PROG_TYPE_SOCKET_FILTER

setsockopt() calls bpf_prog_get() which increments refcnt of the program,
so it doesn't get unloaded while socket is using the program.

The same eBPF program can be attached to multiple sockets.

User task exit automatically closes socket which calls sk_filter_uncharge()
which decrements refcnt of eBPF program

070e76cb3f MIPS: tlbex: Fix potential HTW race on TLBL/M/S handlers
There is a potential race when probing the TLB in TLBL/M/S exception
handlers for a matching entry. Between the time we hit a TLBL/S/M
exception and the time we get to execute the TLBP instruction, the
HTW may have replaced the TLB entry we are interested in hence the TLB
probe may fail. However, in the existing handlers, we never checked the
status of the TLBP (ie check the result in the C0/Index register). We
fix this by adding such a check when the core implements the HTW. If
we couldn't find a matching entry, we return back and try again.

Using the __raw_{read,write}{b,w,l} functions to perform
repeatable MMIO could result in problems if the host bus
does not match the endianness of the PCI/ISA. This problem
is visible on big-endian SEAD3 configurations after commit

0e525e48f7 MIPS: Apply `.insn' to fixup labels throughout
Fix the issue with the ISA bit being lost in fixups that jump to labels
placed just before a section switch.  Such a switch leads to the ISA bit
being lost, because GAS concludes there is no code that follows and
therefore the label refers to data.  Use the `.insn' pseudo-op to
convince the tool this is not the case.

This lack of label annotation leads to microMIPS compilation errors
like:

mips-linux-gnu-ld: arch/mips/built-in.o: .fixup+0x3b8: Unsupported jump between ISA modes; consider recompiling with interlinking enabled.
mips-linux-gnu-ld: final link failed: Bad value

b0984c4370 MIPS: Fix microMIPS LL/SC immediate offsets
In the microMIPS encoding some memory access instructions have their
immediate offset reduced to 12 bits only.  That does not match the GCC
`R' constraint we use in some places to satisfy the requirement,
resulting in build failures like this:

Fix the problem by defining a macro, `GCC_OFF12_ASM', that expands to
the right constraint depending on whether microMIPS or standard MIPS
code is produced.  Also apply the fix to where `m' is used as in the
worst case this change does nothing, e.g. where the pointer was already
in a register such as a function argument and no further offset was
requested, and in the best case it avoids an extraneous sequence of up
to two instructions to load the high 20 bits of the address in the LL/SC
loop.  This reduces the risk of lock contention that is the higher the
more instructions there are in the critical section between LL and SC.

Strictly speaking we could just bulk-replace `R' with `ZC' as the latter
constraint adjusts automatically depending on the ISA selected.
However it was only introduced with GCC 4.9 and we keep supporing older
compilers for the standard MIPS configuration, hence the slightly more
complicated approach I chose.

The choice of a zero-argument function-like rather than an object-like
macro was made so that it does not look like a function call taking the
C expression used for the constraint as an argument.  This is so as not
to confuse the reader or formatting checkers like `checkpatch.pl' and
follows previous practice.

aec711d563 MIPS: Kconfig: Only allow 32-bit microMIPS builds
Only allow 32-bit microMIPS builds, we're not ready yet for 64-bit
microMIPS support.

QEMU does have support for the 64-bit microMIPS ISA and with minor
tweaks it is possible to have a 64-bit processor emulated there that
runs microMIPS code, so despite the lack of actual 64-bit microMIPS
hardware there is a way to run 64-bit microMIPS Linux, but it can all be
considered early development and we are not there yet.  Userland tools
are lacking too, e.g. GCC produces bad code:

And our build fails early on, so disable the configuration, for the sake
of automatic random config checkers if nothing else.  Whoever needs to

c441d4a54c MIPS: mm: Only build one microassembler that is suitable
The microMIPS microassembler is only suitable for configurations where
the kernel itself is built to microMIPS machine code and not where only
user microMIPS software is supported.  The former is controlled with the
CPU_MICROMIPS configuration setting, whereas SYS_SUPPORTS_MICROMIPS is
used for the latter.

Not only that, but with a given microMIPS vs standard MIPS kernel
configuration only one microassembler is needed, that matches the ISA
selected -- CP0.Config3.ISAOnExc is mandatory on microMIPS processors,
so there is never a need to mix microMIPS and standard MIPS code.

Consequently build only the microassembler that matches the ISA selected
for the kernel.

424ebcdf28 MIPS: Kconfig: Enable microMIPS support for Malta
Add missing microMIPS support to Malta.  Currently the kernel only
enables support for the instruction set for the SEAD-3 board despite the
fact processor features have nothing to do with the board a processor is
installed in.

In this case there is no way to run microMIPS software in a fully
supported way under Linux on QEMU.  QEMU supports the emulation of a
Malta board, but does not emulate SEAD-3.  Linux supports running
microMIPS code on a SEAD-3 board, but hardcodes such support to off on
an emulated Malta board even if the processor selected has the microMIPS
instruction set implemented.

Adding support for the SEAD-3 to QEMU is a major project.  Flipping a
bit in the kernel that shouldn't have been cleared in the first place is
a trivial effort.  Thus the answer is plain...

Building a 64bit kernel for the SGI O2 (IP32) and the SGI Indy (IP22) uses
the 'vmlinux.32' target, which converts the output 64-bit 'vmlinux' image
into a 32-bit wrapped image.  This is needed for certain revisions of the
IP22 and IP32 ARCS PROMs to boot correctly, but this target is missing
from the 'archhelp' info that is emitted by 'make help'.

We should not need to read fuses during normal operation, also the current
code has issues with that (not safe for concurrent access). Since there
are no in-kernel users for these, just delete them. Drivers should

Allow unsupported CPU types to use backtrace with timer-based profiling.
Some CPUs (notably OCTEON) lack architecture-specific oprofile driver. In
such case oprofile can fallback to timer-based mode, and arch code can
still provide the backtrace functionality. So just set up the backtrace
hook always.
