2c20b0f266 nilfs2: switch WARN_ONs to warning output in nilfs_sufile_do_free()
nilfs_sufile_do_free(), which is called when log write fails or during GC,
uses WARN_ONs to check for abnormal status of metadata.  In the former
case, these WARN_ONs will not be fired, but in the latter case they don't
"never-happen".  It is possible to trigger these by intentionally
modifying the userland GC library to release segments that are not in the
expected state.

So, replace them with warning output using the dedicated macro
nilfs_warn().

This replaces two potentially triggered WARN_ONs with ones that use a
warning output macro.

675abf8df1 nilfs2: prevent WARNING in nilfs_sufile_set_segment_usage()
If nilfs2 reads a disk image with corrupted segment usage metadata, and
its segment usage information is marked as an error for the segment at the
write location, nilfs_sufile_set_segment_usage() can trigger WARN_ONs
during log writing.

Segments newly allocated for writing with nilfs_sufile_alloc() will not
have this error flag set, but this unexpected situation will occur if the
segment indexed by either nilfs->ns_segnum or nilfs->ns_nextnum (active
segment) was marked in error.

Fix this issue by inserting a sanity check to treat it as a file system
corruption.

Since error returns are not allowed during the execution phase where
nilfs_sufile_set_segment_usage() is used, this inserts the sanity check
into nilfs_sufile_mark_dirty() which pre-reads the buffer containing the
segment usage record to be updated and sets it up in a dirty state for
writing.

In addition, nilfs_sufile_set_segment_usage() is also called when
canceling log writing and undoing segment usage update, so in order to
avoid issuing the same kernel warning in that case, in case of
cancellation, avoid checking the error flag in
nilfs_sufile_set_segment_usage().

fee5eaecca nilfs2: fix possible out-of-bounds segment allocation in resize ioctl
Syzbot reports that in its stress test for resize ioctl, the log writing
function nilfs_segctor_do_construct hits a WARN_ON in
nilfs_segctor_truncate_segments().

It turned out that there is a problem with the current implementation of
the resize ioctl, which changes the writable range on the device (the
range of allocatable segments) at the end of the resize process.

This order is necessary for file system expansion to avoid corrupting the
superblock at trailing edge.  However, in the case of a file system
shrink, if log writes occur after truncating out-of-bounds trailing
segments and before the resize is complete, segments may be allocated from
the truncated space.

The userspace resize tool was fine as it limits the range of allocatable
segments before performing the resize, but it can run into this issue if
the resize ioctl is called alone.

Fix this issue by changing nilfs_sufile_resize() to update the range of
allocatable segments immediately after successful truncation of segment
space in case of file system shrink.

512c5ca01a nilfs2: fix nilfs_sufile_mark_dirty() not set segment usage as dirty
When extending segments, nilfs_sufile_alloc() is called to get an
unassigned segment, then mark it as dirty to avoid accidentally allocating
the same segment in the future.

But for some special cases such as a corrupted image it can be unreliable.
If such corruption of the dirty state of the segment occurs, nilfs2 may
reallocate a segment that is in use and pick the same segment for writing
twice at the same time.

This will cause the problem reported by syzkaller:

This case started with segbuf1.segnum = 3, nextnum = 4 when constructed. 
It supposed segment 4 has already been allocated and marked as dirty.

However the dirty state was corrupted and segment 4 usage was not dirty. 
For the first time nilfs_segctor_extend_segments() segment 4 was allocated
again, which made segbuf2 and next segbuf3 had same segment 4.

sb_getblk() will get same bh for segbuf2 and segbuf3, and this bh is added
to both buffer lists of two segbuf.  It makes the lists broken which
causes NULL pointer dereference.

Fix the problem by setting usage as dirty every time in
nilfs_sufile_mark_dirty(), which is called during constructing current
segment to be written out and before allocating next segment.

44abff2c0b block: decouple REQ_OP_SECURE_ERASE from REQ_OP_DISCARD
Secure erase is a very different operation from discard in that it is
a data integrity operation vs hint.  Fully split the limits and helper
infrastructure to make the separation more clear.

fb04b91bc2 nilfs2: use time64_t internally
The superblock and segment timestamps are used only internally in nilfs2
and can be read out using sysfs.

Since we are using the old 'get_seconds()' interface and store the data
as timestamps, the behavior differs slightly between 64-bit and 32-bit
kernels, the latter will show incorrect timestamps after 2038 in sysfs,
and presumably fail completely in 2106 as comparisons go wrong.

This changes nilfs2 to use time64_t with ktime_get_real_seconds() to
handle timestamps, making the behavior consistent and correct on both
32-bit and 64-bit machines.

The on-disk format already uses 64-bit timestamps, so nothing changes
there.

e63e88bc53 nilfs2: move ioctl interface and disk layout to uapi separately
The header file "include/linux/nilfs2_fs.h" is composed of parts for
ioctl and disk format, and both are intended to be shared with user
space programs.

This moves them to the uapi directory "include/uapi/linux" splitting the
file to "nilfs2_api.h" and "nilfs2_ondisk.h".  The following minor
changes are accompanied by this migration:

 - nilfs_direct_node struct in nilfs2/direct.h is converged to
   nilfs2_ondisk.h because it's an on-disk structure.
 - inline functions nilfs_rec_len_from_disk() and
   nilfs_rec_len_to_disk() are moved to nilfs2/dir.c.

feee880fa5 nilfs2: reduce bare use of printk() with nilfs_msg()
Replace most use of printk() in nilfs2 implementation with nilfs_msg(),
and reduce the following checkpatch.pl warning:

  "WARNING: Prefer [subsystem eg: netdev]_crit([subsystem]dev, ...
   then dev_crit(dev, ... then pr_crit(...  to printk(KERN_CRIT ..."

This patch also fixes a minor checkpatch warning "WARNING: quoted string

83eec5e6dd nilfs2: add tracepoints for analyzing sufile manipulation
This patch adds tracepoints which would be useful for analyzing segment
usage from a perspective of high level sufile manipulation (check, alloc,
free).  sufile is an important in-place updated metadata file, so
analyzing the behavior would be useful for performance turning.

example of usage (a case of allocation):

0ec060d188 nilfs2: verify metadata sizes read from disk
Add code to check sizes of on-disk data of metadata files such as inode
size, segment usage size, DAT entry size, and checkpoint size.  Although
these sizes are read from disk, the current implementation doesn't check
them.

If these sizes are not sane on disk, it can cause out-of-range access to
metadata or memory access overrun on metadata block buffers due to
overflow in sundry calculations.

Both lower limit and upper limit of metadata sizes are verified to
prevent these issues.

00e9ffcd27 nilfs2: add nilfs_sufile_set_suinfo to update segment usage
Introduce nilfs_sufile_set_suinfo(), which expects an array of
nilfs_suinfo_update structures and updates the segment usage information
accordingly.

This is basically a helper function for the newly introduced
NILFS_IOCTL_SET_SUINFO ioctl.

0ef28f9aec nilfs2: get rid of NILFS_I_NILFS
This replaces all references of NILFS_I_NILFS(inode)->ns_bdev with
inode->i_sb->s_bdev and unfolds remaining uses of NILFS_I_NILFS inline
function.

Before 2.6.37, referring to a nilfs object from inodes needed a
conditional judgement, and NILFS_I_NILFS was helpful to simplify it.
But now we can simply do it by going through a super block instance
like inode->i_sb->s_fs_info.

619205da5b nilfs2: add ioctl which limits range of segment to be allocated
This adds a new ioctl command which limits range of segment to be
allocated.  This is intended to gather data whithin a range of the
partition before shrinking the filesystem, or to control new log
location for some purpose.

If a range is specified by the ioctl, segment allocator of nilfs tries
to allocate new segments from the range unless no free segments are
available there.

Previously, this function took an status code to return possible error
codes.  The ("nilfs2: add local variable to cache the number of clean
segments") patch removed the possibility to return errors.

003ff182fd nilfs2: allow future expansion of metadata read out via get info ioctl
Nilfs has some ioctl commands to read out metadata from meta data
files:

 - NILFS_IOCTL_GET_CPINFO for checkpoint file,
 - NILFS_IOCTL_GET_SUINFO for segment usage file, and
 - NILFS_IOCTL_GET_VINFO for Disk Address Transalation (DAT) file,
   respectively.

Every routine on these metadata files is implemented so that it allows
future expansion of on-disk format.  But, the above ioctl commands do
not support expansion even though nilfs_argv structure can handle
arbitrary size for data exchanged via ioctl.

This allows future expansion of the following structures which give
basic format of the "get information" ioctls:

 - struct nilfs_cpinfo
 - struct nilfs_suinfo
 - struct nilfs_vinfo

So, this introduces forward compatility of such ioctl commands.

In this patch, a sanity check in nilfs_ioctl_get_info() function is
changed to accept larger data structure [1], and metadata read
routines are rewritten so that they become compatible for larger
structures; the routines will just ignore the remaining fields which
the current version of nilfs doesn't know.

[1] The ioctl function already has another upper limit (PAGE_SIZE
    against a structure, which appears in nilfs_ioctl_wrap_copy
    function), and this will not cause security problem.

c85399c2da nilfs2: fix possible mismatch of sufile counters on recovery
On-disk counters ndirtysegs and ncleansegs of sufile, can go wrong
after roll-forward recovery because
nilfs_prepare_segment_for_recovery() function marks segments dirty
without adjusting value of these counters.

This fixes the problem by adding a function to sufile which does the
operation adjusting the counters, and by letting the recovery function
use it.

The nilfs_sufile_set_error() function wrongly adjusts the number of
dirty segments instead of the number of clean segments.  In addition,
the function calls brelse() twice for the same buffer head.

segments") patch.  The patch did not take account that a base index is
increased in nilfs_sufile_get_suinfo() function if requested entries
go across block boundary on sufile.

Due to this bug, the active flag sometimes appears on wrong segments
and has induced malfunction of garbage collection.

cece552074 nilfs2: simplify handling of active state of segments
will reduce some lines of segment constructor.  Previously, the state was
complexly controlled through a list of segments in order to keep
consistency in meta data of usage state of segments.  Instead, this
presents ``calculated'' active flags to userland cleaner program and stop
maintaining its real flag on disk.

Only by this fake flag, the cleaner cannot exactly know if each segment is
reclaimable or not.  However, the recent extension of nilfs_sustat ioctl
struct (nilfs2-extend-nilfs_sustat-ioctl-struct.patch) can prevent the
cleaner from reclaiming in-use segment wrongly.

So, now I can apply this for simplification.

2c2e52fc4f nilfs2: extend nilfs_sustat ioctl struct
This adds a new argument to the nilfs_sustat structure.

The extended field allows to delete volatile active state of segments,
which was needed to protect freshly-created segments from garbage
collection but has confused code dealing with segments.  This
extension alleviates the mess and gives room for further
simplifications.

The volatile active flag is not persistent, so it's eliminable on this
occasion without affecting compatibility other than the ioctl change.
