bb5925480b mtd: nand: Make flags for bad block marker position more granular
To be able to check and set bad block markers in the first and
second page of a block independently of each other, we create
separate flags for both cases.

Previously NAND_BBM_SECONDPAGE meant, that both, the first and the
second page were used. With this patch NAND_BBM_FIRSTPAGE stands for
using the first page and NAND_BBM_SECONDPAGE for using the second
page.

This patch is only for preparation of subsequent changes and does
not implement the logic to actually handle both flags separately.

04649ec133 mtd: rawnand: Always store info about bad block markers in chip struct
The information about where the manufacturer puts the bad block
markers inside the bad block and in the OOB data is stored in
different places. Let's move this information to nand_chip.options
and nand_chip.badblockpos.

As this chip-specific information is not directly related to the
bad block table (BBT), we also rename the flags to NAND_BBM_*.

f56cad5fd6 mtd: rawnand: constify elements of NAND_OP_PARSER(_PATTERN)
Currently, drivers are able to constify a nand_op_parser array,
but not nand_op_parser_pattern and nand_op_parser_pattern_elem
since they are instantiated by using the NAND_OP_PARSER(_PATTERN).

Add 'const' to them in order to move more driver data from .data to
.rodata section.

6a1b66d6c8 mtd: rawnand: Get rid of chip->ecc_{strength,step}_ds
nand_device embeds a nand_ecc_req object which contains the minimum
strength and step-size required by the NAND device.

Drop the chip->ecc_{strength,step}_ds fields and use
chip->base.eccreq.{strength,step_size} instead.

7beb37e5f0 mtd: rawnand: Use nanddev_mtd_max_bad_blocks()
nanddev_mtd_max_bad_blocks() is implemented by the generic NAND layer
and is already doing what we need. Reuse this function instead of
having our own implementation.

While at it, get rid of the ->max_bb_per_die and ->blocks_per_die
fields which are now unused.

eeab717483 mtd: rawnand: Provide a helper to get chip->data_buf
We plan to move cache related fields to a pagecache struct in nand_chip
but some drivers access ->pagebuf directly to invalidate the cache
before they start using ->data_buf.

Let's provide an helper that returns a pointer to ->data_buf after
invalidating the cache.

3020e30af6 mtd: rawnand: Prepare things to reuse the generic NAND layer
The generic NAND layer provides abstraction of NAND devices no matter
the bus that is used to communicate with the chip. Basing the raw NAND
core on this generic layer should avoid duplication of common
operations, like iterating over all pages/blocks for MTD IO/erase
operations.

In order to re-use this layer, we must first inherit from nand_device
and then initialize the nand_device struct appropriately. This patch
is taking care of the former.

377e517b5f mtd: nand: Add max_bad_eraseblocks_per_lun info to memorg
NAND datasheets usually give the maximum number of bad blocks per LUN
and this number can be used to help upper layers decide how much blocks
they should reserve for bad block handling.

Add a max_bad_eraseblocks_per_lun to the nand_memory_organization
struct and update the NAND_MEMORG() macro (and its users) accordingly.

We also provide a default mtd->_max_bad_blocks() implementation.

2d73f3d66b mtd: rawnand: remove ->legacy.erase and single_erase()
Now that the last user of this hook, denali.c, stopped using it,
we can remove the erase hook from nand_legacy.

I squashed single_erase() because only the difference between
single_erase() and nand_erase_op() is the number of bit shifts.

The status/ret conversion in nand_erase_nand() is unneeded since
commit eb94555e9e ("mtd: nand: use usual return values for the
->erase() hook"). Cleaned it up now.

013e6292aa mtd: rawnand: Simplify the locking
nand_get_device() was complex for apparently no good reason. Let's
replace this locking scheme with 2 mutexes: one attached to the
controller and another one attached to the chip.

Every time the core calls nand_get_device(), it will first lock the
chip and if the chip is not suspended, will then lock the controller.
nand_release_device() will release both lock in the reverse order.

nand_get_device() can sleep, just like the previous implementation,
which means you should never call that from an atomic context.

We also get rid of

- the chip->state field, since all it was used for was flagging the
  chip as suspended. We replace it by a field called chip->suspended
  and directly set it from nand_suspend/resume()
- the controller->wq and controller->active fields which are no longer
  needed since the new controller->lock (now a mutex) guarantees that
  all operations are serialized at the controller level
- panic_nand_get_device() which would anyway be a no-op. Talking about
  panic write, I keep thinking the rawnand implementation is unsafe
  because there's not negotiation with the controller to know when it's
  actually done with it's previous operation. I don't intend to fix
  that here, but that's probably something we should look at, or maybe
  we should consider dropping the ->_panic_write() implementation

Last important change to mention: we now return -EBUSY when someone
tries to access a device that as been suspended, and propagate this
error to the upper layer.

  commands. This flag is required for flashes which didn't provides
  support for auto detection of Octal mode capabilities i.e. not
  seems to support newer JESD216C standard.

   - hyper-v driver updates
   - coresight driver updates
   - pvpanic driver additions and reworking for more device support
   - lp driver updates.  Yes really, it's _finally_ moved to the proper
     parallal port driver model, something I never thought I would see
     happen.  Good stuff.
   - other tiny driver updates and fixes.

816873eaee mtd: spi-nor: parse SFDP 4-byte Address Instruction Table
Add support for SFDP (JESD216B) 4-byte Address Instruction Table. This
table is optional but when available, we parse it to get the 4-byte
address op codes supported by the memory.
Using these op codes is stateless as opposed to entering the 4-byte
address mode or setting the Base Address Register (BAR).

Flashes that have the 4BAIT table declared can now support
SPINOR_OP_PP_1_1_4_4B and SPINOR_OP_PP_1_4_4_4B opcodes.

Tested on MX25L25673G.

548ed6847f mtd: spi-nor: Add the SNOR_F_4B_OPCODES flag
Some flash_info entries have the SPI_NOR_4B_OPCODES flag set to let the
core know that the flash supports 4B opcode. While this solution works
fine for id-based caps detection, it doesn't work that well when relying
on SFDP-based caps detection. Let's add an SNOR_F_4B_OPCODES flag so
that the SFDP parsing code can set it when appropriate.

->setup_data_interface() is a controller specific method and should
thus be placed in nand_controller_ops.

In order to make that work with controllers that support keeping

ae2294b10b mtd: rawnand: Pass the CS line to be selected in struct nand_operation
In order to deprecate the ->select_chip hook we need to pass the CS
line a NAND operations are targeting. This is done through the
addition of a cs field to the nand_operation struct.

We also need to keep track of the currently selected target to
properly initialize op->cs, hence the ->cur_cs field addition to the
nand_chip struct.

Note that op->cs is not assigned in nand_exec_op() because we might
rework the way we execute NAND operations in the future (adopt a
queuing mechanism instead of the serialization we have right now).

1186af457c mtd: keep original flags for every struct mtd_info
When allocating a new partition mtd subsystem runs internal tests in the
allocate_partition(). They may result in modifying specified flags (e.g.
dropping some /features/ like write access).

Those constraints don't have to be necessary true for subpartitions. It
may happen parent partition isn't block aligned (effectively disabling
write access) while subpartition may fit blocks nicely. In such case all
checks should be run again (starting with original flags value).

5390a8df76 mtd: spi-nor: add support to non-uniform SFDP SPI NOR flash memories
Based on Cyrille Pitchen's patch https://lkml.org/lkml/2017/3/22/935.

This patch is a transitional patch in introducing  the support of
SFDP SPI memories with non-uniform erase sizes like Spansion s25fs512s.
Non-uniform erase maps will be used later when initialized based on the
SFDP data.

Introduce the memory erase map which splits the memory array into one
or many erase regions. Each erase region supports up to 4 erase types,
as defined by the JEDEC JESD216B (SFDP) specification.

To be backward compatible, the erase map of uniform SPI NOR flash memories
is initialized so it contains only one erase region and this erase region
supports only one erase command. Hence a single size is used to erase any
sector/block of the memory.

Besides, since the algorithm used to erase sectors on non-uniform SPI NOR
flash memories is quite expensive, when possible, the erase map is tuned
to come back to the uniform case.

The 'erase with the best command, move forward and repeat' approach was
suggested by Cristian Birsan in a brainstorm session, so:

309600c14e mtd: rawnand: Allow selection of ECC byte ordering at runtime
Currently, the selection of ECC byte ordering for software hamming is
done at compilation time, which doesn't make sense when ECC byte
calculation is done in hardware and byte ordering is forced by the
hardware engine.
In this case, only the correction is done in software and we want to
force the byte-ordering no matter the value of CONFIG_MTD_NAND_ECC_SMC.

This is typically the case for the FSMC (Smart Media ordering), TMIO and
TXX9NDFMC (regular byte ordering) blocks.

For all other use cases (pure software implementation, SM FTL and
nandecctest), we keep selecting the byte ordering based on the
CONFIG_MTD_NAND_ECC_SMC value. It might not be ideal for SM FTL (I'd
expect Smart Media ordering to be employed by the Smart Media FTL), but
this option doesn't seem to be enabled in the existing _defconfig, so
I can't tell setting sm_order to true is the right choice.

Previously, attempts to add reboot-time software reset handling were
rejected, but the latest attempt was not.

Quick summary of the problem:
Some systems (e.g., boot ROM or bootloader) assume that they can read
initial boot code from their SPI flash using 3-byte addressing. If the
flash is left in 4-byte mode after reset, these systems won't boot. The
above patch provided a shutdown/remove hook to attempt to reset the
addressing mode before we reboot. Notably, this patch misses out on
huge classes of unexpected reboots (e.g., crashes, watchdog resets).

Unfortunately, it is essentially impossible to solve this problem 100%:
if your system doesn't know how to reset the SPI flash to power-on
defaults at initialization time, no amount of software can really rescue
you -- there will always be a chance of some unexpected reset that
leaves your flash in an addressing mode that your boot sequence didn't
expect.

While it is not directly harmful to perform hacks like the
aforementioned commit on all 4-byte addressing flash, a
properly-designed system should not need the hack -- and in fact,
providing this hack may mask the fact that a given system is indeed
broken. So this patch attempts to apply this unsound hack more narrowly,
providing a strong suggestion to developers and system designers that
this is truly a hack. With luck, system designers can catch their errors
early on in their development cycle, rather than applying this hack long
term. But apparently enough systems are out in the wild that we still
have to provide this hack.

Document a new device tree property to denote systems that do not have a
proper hardware (or software) reset mechanism, and apply the hack (with
a loud warning) only in this case.

Both nand_scan_ident() and nand_scan_tail() helpers used to be called
directly from controller drivers that needed to tweak some ECC-related
parameters before nand_scan_tail(). This separation prevented dynamic
allocations during the phase of NAND identification, which was
inconvenient.

All controller drivers have been moved to use nand_scan(), in
conjunction with the chip->ecc.[attach|detach]_chip() hooks that
actually do the required tweaking sequence between both ident/tail
calls, allowing programmers to use dynamic allocation as they need all
across the scanning sequence.

Declare nand_scan_[ident|tail]() statically now.

05b54c7bac mtd: rawnand: add hooks that may be called during nand_scan()
In order to remove the limitation that forbids dynamic allocation in
nand_scan_ident(), we must create a path that will be the same for all
controller drivers. The idea is to use nand_scan() instead of the widely
used nand_scan_ident()/nand_scan_tail() couple. In order to achieve
this, controller drivers will need to adjust some parameters between
these two functions depending on the NAND chip wired on them.

This takes the form of two new hooks (->{attach,detach}_chip()) that are
placed in a new nand_controller_ops structure, which is then attached
to the nand_controller object at driver initialization time.
->attach_chip() is called between nand_scan_ident() and
nand_scan_tail(), and ->detach_chip() is called in the error path of
nand_scan() and in nand_cleanup().

Note that some NAND controller drivers don't have a dedicated
nand_controller object and instead rely on the default/dummy one
embedded in nand_chip. If you're in this case and still want to
initialize the controller ops, you'll have to manipulate
chip->dummy_controller directly.

Last but not least, it's worth mentioning that we plan to move some of
the controller related hooks placed in nand_chip into
nand_controller_ops to make the separation between NAND chip and NAND
controller methods clearer.

In the raw NAND core, a NAND chip is described by a nand_chip structure,
while a NAND controller is described with a nand_hw_control structure
which is not very meaningful.

Rename this structure nand_controller.

As the structure gets renamed, it is logical to also rename the core
function initializing it from nand_hw_control_init() to
nand_controller_init().

Lastly, the 'hwcontrol' entry of the nand_chip structure is not
meaningful neither while it has the role of fallback when no controller
structure is provided by the driver (the controller driver is dumb and
can only control a single chip). Thus, it is renamed dummy_controller.

181ace9e1b mtd: rawnand: helper function for setting up ECC configuration
commit 2c8f8afa7f ("mtd: nand: add generic helpers to check,
match, maximize ECC settings") provides generic helpers which
drivers can use for setting up ECC parameters.

Since same board can have different ECC strength nand chips so
following is the logic for setting up ECC strength and ECC step
size, which can be used by most of the drivers.

1. If both ECC step size and ECC strength are already set
   (usually by DT) then just check whether this setting
   is supported by NAND controller.
2. If NAND_ECC_MAXIMIZE is set, then select maximum ECC strength
   supported by NAND controller.
3. Otherwise, try to match the ECC step size and ECC strength closest
   to the chip's requirement. If available OOB size can't fit the chip
   requirement then select maximum ECC strength which can be fit with
   available OOB size.

This patch introduces nand_ecc_choose_conf function which calls the
required helper functions for the above logic. The drivers can use
this single function instead of calling the 3 helper functions
individually.

The NAND sub-layers are likely to need the MTD_OPS_XXX mode information
in order to decide if they should enable/disable ECC or how they should
place the OOB bytes in the provided OOB buffer.

9f825e74d7 mtd: rawnand: Fix return type of __DIVIDE() when called with 32-bit
The __DIVIDE() macro checks whether it is called with a 32-bit or 64-bit
dividend, to select the appropriate divide-and-round-up routine.
As the check uses the ternary operator, the result will always be
promoted to a type that can hold both results, i.e. unsigned long long.

When using this result in a division on a 32-bit system, this may lead
to link errors like:

    ERROR: "__udivdi3" [drivers/mtd/nand/raw/nand.ko] undefined!

Fix this by casting the result of the division to the type of the
dividend.

ea739a287f mtd: Fix comparison in map_word_andequal()
Commit 9e343e87d2 ("mtd: cfi: convert inline functions to macros")
changed map_word_andequal() into a macro, but also changed the right
hand side of the comparison from val3 to val2.  Change it back to use
val3 on the right hand side.

Thankfully this did not cause a regression because all callers
currently pass the same argument for val2 and val3.

f134fbbb4f mtd: spi-nor: clear Winbond Extended Address Reg on switch to 3-byte addressing.
Winbond spi-nor flash 32MB and larger have an 'Extended Address
Register' as one option for addressing beyond 16MB (Macronix
has the same concept, Spansion has EXTADD bits in the Bank Address
Register).

According to section
   8.2.7 Write Extended Address Register (C5h)

of the Winbond W25Q256FV data sheet (256M-BIT SPI flash)

   The Extended Address Register is only effective when the device is
   in the 3-Byte Address Mode.  When the device operates in the 4-Byte
   Address Mode (ADS=1), any command with address input of A31-A24
   will replace the Extended Address Register values. It is
   recommended to check and update the Extended Address Register if
   necessary when the device is switched from 4-Byte to 3-Byte Address
   Mode.

So the documentation suggests clearing the EAR after switching to
3-byte mode.  Experimentation shows that the EAR is *always* one after
the switch to 3-byte mode, so clearing the EAR is mandatory at
shutdown for a subsequent 3-byte-addressed reboot to work.

Note that some SOCs (e.g. MT7621) do not assert a reset line at normal
reboot, so we cannot rely on hardware reset.  The MT7621 does assert a
reset line at watchdog-reset.

5b644aa012 mtd: partitions: add of_match_table parser matching for the "ofpart" type
In order to properly support compatibility strings as described in the
bindings/mtd/partition.txt "ofpart" type should be treated as an
indication for looking into OF. MTD should check "compatible" property
and search for a matching parser rather than blindly trying the one
supporting "fixed-partitions".

It also means that existing "fixed-partitions" parser should get renamed
to use a more meaningful name.

This commit achievies that aim by introducing a new mtd_part_of_parse().
It works by looking for a matching parser for every string in the
"compatibility" property (starting with the most specific one).

Please note that driver-specified parsers still take a precedence. It's
assumed that driver providing a parser type has a good reason for that
(e.g. having platform data with device-specific info). Also doing
otherwise could break existing setups. The same applies to using default
parsers (including "cmdlinepart") as some overwrite DT data with cmdline
argument.

Partition parsers can now provide an of_match_table to enable
flash<-->parser matching via device tree as documented in the
mtd/partition.txt.

This support is currently limited to built-in parsers as it uses
request_module() and friends. This should be sufficient for most cases
though as compiling parsers as modules isn't a common choice.

e7bfb3fdbd mtd: Stop updating erase_info->state and calling mtd_erase_callback()
MTD users are no longer checking erase_info->state to determine if the
erase operation failed or succeeded. Moreover, mtd_erase_callback() is
now a NOP.

We can safely get rid of all mtd_erase_callback() calls and all
erase_info->state assignments. While at it, get rid of the
erase_info->state field, all MTD_ERASE_XXX definitions and the
mtd_erase_callback() function.

identification function are stored in a separate onfi_parameters
structure embedded in nand_parameters, this small structure that
already hold generic parameters.

For now, the onfi_parameters structure is allocated statically. However,
after some deep rework in the NAND framework, it will be possible to do
dynamic allocations from the NAND identification phase, and this
strcuture will then be dynamically allocated when needed.

->fail_addr and ->addr can be updated no matter the result of
parent->_erase(), we just need to remove the code doing the same thing
in mtd_erase_callback() to avoid adjusting those fields twice.

Note that this can be done because all MTD users have been converted to
not pass an erase_info->callback() and are thus only taking the
->addr_fail and ->addr fields into account after part_erase() has
returned.

While we're at it, get rid of the erase_info->mtd field which was only
needed to let mtd_erase_callback() get the partition device back.
