Florian Westphal 83ef55c428 netfilter: nft_tproxy: restrict to prerouting hook
commit 18bbc32133 upstream.

TPROXY is only allowed from prerouting, but nft_tproxy doesn't check this.
This fixes a crash (null dereference) when using tproxy from e.g. output.

Sriram Yagnaraman f571e34005 netfilter: conntrack: unify established states for SCTP paths
commit a44b765148 upstream.

An SCTP endpoint can start an association through a path and tear it
down over another one. That means the initial path will not see the
shutdown sequence, and the conntrack entry will remain in ESTABLISHED
state for 5 days.

By merging the HEARTBEAT_ACKED and ESTABLISHED states into one
ESTABLISHED state, there remains no difference between a primary or
secondary path. The timeout for the merged ESTABLISHED state is set to
210 seconds (hb_interval * max_path_retrans + rto_max). So, even if a
path doesn't see the shutdown sequence, it will expire in a reasonable
amount of time.

With this change in place, there is now more than one state from which
we can transition to ESTABLISHED, COOKIE_ECHOED and HEARTBEAT_SENT, so
handle the setting of ASSURED bit whenever a state change has happened
and the new state is ESTABLISHED. Removed the check for dir==REPLY since
the transition to ESTABLISHED can happen only in the reply direction.

Sriram Yagnaraman 67ac3b4cd5 netfilter: conntrack: fix vtag checks for ABORT/SHUTDOWN_COMPLETE

RFC 9260, Sec 8.5.1 states that for ABORT/SHUTDOWN_COMPLETE, the chunk
MUST be accepted if the vtag of the packet matches its own tag and the
T bit is not set OR if it is set to its peer's vtag and the T bit is set
in chunk flags. Otherwise the packet MUST be silently dropped.

Update vtag verification for ABORT/SHUTDOWN_COMPLETE based on the above
description.

Florian Westphal a61bc9197d netfilter: conntrack: do not renew entry stuck in tcp SYN_SENT state

Consider:
  client -----> conntrack ---> Host

client sends a SYN, but $Host is unreachable/silent.
Client eventually gives up and the conntrack entry will time out.

However, if the client is restarted with same addr/port pair, it
may prevent the conntrack entry from timing out.

This is noticeable when the existing conntrack entry has no NAT
transformation or an outdated one and port reuse happens either
on client or due to a NAT middlebox.

This change prevents refresh of the timeout for SYN retransmits,
so entry is going away after nf_conntrack_tcp_timeout_syn_sent
seconds (default: 60).

Entry will be re-created on next connection attempt, but then
nat rules will be evaluated again.

Gavrilov Ilia feefb33eef netfilter: ipset: Fix overflow before widen in the bitmap_ip_create() function.
commit 9ea4b476ce upstream.

When first_ip is 0, last_ip is 0xFFFFFFFF, and netmask is 31, the value of
an arithmetic expression 2 << (netmask - mask_bits - 1) is subject
to overflow due to a failure casting operands to a larger data type
before performing the arithmetic.

Note that it's harmless since the value will be checked at the next step.

Found by InfoTeCS on behalf of Linux Verification Center
(linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.

Florian Westphal d4145d028a netfilter: conntrack: set icmpv6 redirects as RELATED

icmp conntrack will set icmp redirects as RELATED, but icmpv6 will not
do this.

For icmpv6, only icmp errors (code <= 128) are examined for RELATED state.
ICMPV6 Redirects are part of neighbour discovery mechanism, those are
handled by marking a selected subset (e.g.  neighbour solicitations) as
UNTRACKED, but not REDIRECT -- they will thus be flagged as INVALID.

Add minimal support for REDIRECTs.  No parsing of neighbour options is
added for simplicity, so this will only check that we have the embeeded
original header (ND_OPT_REDIRECT_HDR), and then attempt to do a flow
lookup for this tuple.

Also extend the existing test case to cover redirects.

CTCP messages should only be at the start of an IRC message, not
anywhere within it.

While the helper only decodes packes in the ORIGINAL direction, its
possible to make a client send a CTCP message back by empedding one into
a PING request.  As-is, thats enough to make the helper believe that it
saw a CTCP message.

Igor Ryzhov 0376a77fa7 netfilter: nf_conntrack_sip: fix ct_sip_walk_headers

ct_sip_next_header and ct_sip_get_header return an absolute
value of matchoff, not a shift from current dataoff.
So dataoff should be assigned matchoff, not incremented by it.

This issue can be seen in the scenario when there are multiple
Contact headers and the first one is using a hostname and other headers
use IP addresses. In this case, ct_sip_walk_headers will work as follows:

The first ct_sip_get_header call to will find the first Contact header
but will return -1 as the header uses a hostname. But matchoff will
be changed to the offset of this header. After that, dataoff should be
set to matchoff, so that the next ct_sip_get_header call find the next
Contact header. But instead of assigning dataoff to matchoff, it is
incremented by it, which is not correct, as matchoff is an absolute
value of the offset. So on the next call to the ct_sip_get_header,
dataoff will be incorrect, and the next Contact header may not be
found at all.

Ensure the match happens in the right direction, previously the
destination used was the server, not the NAT host, as the comment
shows the code intended.

Additionally nf_nat_irc uses port 0 as a signal and there's no valid way
it can appear in a DCC message, so consider port 0 also forged.

Florian Westphal a452bc3deb netfilter: nf_tables: fix null deref due to zeroed list head
commit 580077855a upstream.

In nf_tables_updtable, if nf_tables_table_enable returns an error,
nft_trans_destroy is called to free the transaction object.

nft_trans_destroy() calls list_del(), but the transaction was never
placed on a list -- the list head is all zeroes, this results in
a null dereference:

Thadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo 4dad1c8207 netfilter: nf_tables: do not allow RULE_ID to refer to another chain
commit 36d5b29132 upstream.

When doing lookups for rules on the same batch by using its ID, a rule from
a different chain can be used. If a rule is added to a chain but tries to
be positioned next to a rule from a different chain, it will be linked to
chain2, but the use counter on chain1 would be the one to be incremented.

When looking for rules by ID, use the chain that was used for the lookup by
name. The chain used in the context copied to the transaction needs to
match that same chain. That way, struct nft_rule does not need to get
enlarged with another member.

Thadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo fab2f61cc3 netfilter: nf_tables: do not allow SET_ID to refer to another table
commit 470ee20e06 upstream.

When doing lookups for sets on the same batch by using its ID, a set from a
different table can be used.

Then, when the table is removed, a reference to the set may be kept after
the set is freed, leading to a potential use-after-free.

When looking for sets by ID, use the table that was used for the lookup by
name, and only return sets belonging to that same table.

This fixes CVE-2022-2586, also reported as ZDI-CAN-17470.

Florian Westphal 52be29e8b6 netfilter: nf_queue: do not allow packet truncation below transport header offset

Domingo Dirutigliano and Nicola Guerrera report kernel panic when
sending nf_queue verdict with 1-byte nfta_payload attribute.

The IP/IPv6 stack pulls the IP(v6) header from the packet after the
input hook.

If user truncates the packet below the header size, this skb_pull() will
result in a malformed skb (skb->len < 0).

Pablo Neira Ayuso 3b2ddeb89f netfilter: nft_dynset: restore set element counter when failing to update
commit 05907f10e2 upstream.

This patch fixes a race condition.

nft_rhash_update() might fail for two reasons:

- Element already exists in the hashtable.
- Another packet won race to insert an entry in the hashtable.

In both cases, new() has already bumped the counter via atomic_add_unless(),
therefore, decrement the set element counter.

Pablo Neira Ayuso f36736fbd4 netfilter: nf_tables: disallow non-stateful expression in sets earlier
commit 520778042c upstream.

Since 3e135cd499 ("netfilter: nft_dynset: dynamic stateful expression
instantiation"), it is possible to attach stateful expressions to set
elements.

cd5125d8f5 ("netfilter: nf_tables: split set destruction in deactivate
and destroy phase") introduces conditional destruction on the object to
accomodate transaction semantics.

nft_expr_init() calls expr->ops->init() first, then check for
NFT_STATEFUL_EXPR, this stills allows to initialize a non-stateful
lookup expressions which points to a set, which might lead to UAF since
the set is not properly detached from the set->binding for this case.
Anyway, this combination is non-sense from nf_tables perspective.

This patch fixes this problem by checking for NFT_STATEFUL_EXPR before
expr->ops->init() is called.

The reporter provides a KASAN splat and a poc reproducer (similar to
those autogenerated by syzbot to report use-after-free errors). It is
unknown to me if they are using syzbot or if they use similar automated
tool to locate the bug that they are reporting.

Florian Westphal 563bb0f794 netfilter: nft_socket: only do sk lookups when indev is available

Check if the incoming interface is available and NFT_BREAK
in case neither skb->sk nor input device are set.

Because nf_sk_lookup_slow*() assume packet headers are in the
'in' direction, use in postrouting is not going to yield a meaningful
result.  Same is true for the forward chain, so restrict the use
to prerouting, input and output.

Use in output work if a socket is already attached to the skb.

Florian Westphal 53026346a9 netfilter: nf_tables: fix memory leak during stateful obj update
commit dad3bdeef4 upstream.

stateful objects can be updated from the control plane.
The transaction logic allocates a temporary object for this purpose.

The ->init function was called for this object, so plain kfree() leaks
resources. We must call ->destroy function of the object.

nft_obj_destroy does this, but it also decrements the module refcount,
but the update path doesn't increment it.

To avoid special-casing the update object release, do module_get for
the update case too and release it via nft_obj_destroy().

Ignacy Gawędzki 685fc8d224 netfilter: fix regression in looped (broad|multi)cast's MAC handling

In commit 5648b5e116 ("netfilter: nfnetlink_queue: fix OOB when mac
header was cleared"), the test for non-empty MAC header introduced in
commit 2c38de4c1f ("netfilter: fix looped (broad|multi)cast's MAC
handling") has been replaced with a test for a set MAC header.

This breaks the case when the MAC header has been reset (using
skb_reset_mac_header), as is the case with looped-back multicast
packets.  As a result, the packets ending up in NFQUEUE get a bogus
hwaddr interpreted from the first bytes of the IP header.

This patch adds a test for a non-empty MAC header in addition to the
test for a set MAC header.  The same two tests are also implemented in
nfnetlink_log.c, where the initial code of commit 2c38de4c1f
("netfilter: fix looped (broad|multi)cast's MAC handling") has not been
touched, but where supposedly the same situation may happen.

Before this patch, short-lived UDP flows never entered IPS_ASSURED, so
they were already candidate flow to be deleted by early_drop under
stress.

Before this patch, IPS_ASSURED is set on regardless the internal stream
state, attach this internal stream state to IPS_ASSURED.

packet #1 (original direction) enters NEW state
packet #2 (reply direction) enters ESTABLISHED state, sets on IPS_SEEN_REPLY
paclet #3 (any direction) sets on IPS_ASSURED (if 2 seconds since the
          creation has passed by).

Florian Westphal fffad5988f netfilter: nf_nat_masquerade: defer conntrack walk to work queue

The ipv4 and device notifiers are called with RTNL mutex held.
The table walk can take some time, better not block other RTNL users.

'ip a' has been reported to block for up to 20 seconds when conntrack table
has many entries and device down events are frequent (e.g., PPP).
