Hans de Goede 33d550701b mfd: arizona: Allow building arizona MFD-core as module
There is no reason why the arizona core, irq and codec model specific
regmap bits cannot be build as a module. All they do is export symbols
which are used by the arizona-spi/i2c and arizona-codec modules, which
themselves can be built as module.

Change the Kconfig and Makefile arizona bits so that the arizona MFD-core
can be built as a module.

This is especially useful on x86 platforms with a WM5102 codec, this
allows the arizona MFD driver necessary for the WM5102 codec to be
enabled in generic distro-kernels without growing the base kernel-image
size.

Note this also adds an explicit "depends on MFD_ARIZONA" to all the
arizona codec Kconfig options. The codec drivers use functions from mfd
arizona-core. These new depends are necessary to disallow the codec
drivers being builtin when the arizona-core is build as a module,
otherwise we end up with missing symbol errors when building vmlinuz.

Geert Uytterhoeven 0cab0aa149 mfd: Kconfig: ABX500_CORE should depend on ARCH_U8500
The ST-Ericsson ABX500 Mixed Signal IC family chips are only present on
ST-Ericsson U8500 Series platforms. Hence add a dependency on
ARCH_U8500, to prevent asking the user about this driver when
configuring a kernel without U8500 support.

Also, merely enabling CONFIG_COMPILE_TEST should not enable additional
code, and thus should not enable this driver by default.

Krzysztof Kozlowski cd5f39070a mfd: altera: merge ARCH_SOCFPGA and ARCH_STRATIX10
Simplify 32-bit and 64-bit Intel SoCFPGA Kconfig options by having only
one for both of them. This the common practice for other platforms.
Additionally, the ARCH_SOCFPGA is too generic as SoCFPGA designs come
from multiple vendors.

The side effect is that the MFD_ALTERA_A10SR will now be available for
both 32-bit and 64-bit Intel SoCFPGA, even though it is used only for
32-bit.

Add initial support for the Actions Semi ATC260x PMICs which integrates
Audio Codec, Power management, Clock generation and GPIO controller
blocks.

For the moment this driver only supports Regulator, Poweroff and Onkey
functionalities for the ATC2603C and ATC2609A chip variants.

Since the PMICs can be accessed using both I2C and SPI buses, the
following driver structure has been adopted:

           -----> atc260x-core.c (Implements core functionalities)
          /
ATC260x --------> atc260x-i2c.c (Implements I2C interface)
          \
           -----> atc260x-spi.c (Implements SPI interface - TODO)

Andy Shevchenko ef3c67b645 mfd: intel_msic: Remove driver for deprecated platform
Intel Moorestown and Medfield are quite old Intel Atom based
32-bit platforms, which were in limited use in some Android phones,
tablets and consumer electronics more than eight years ago.

There are no bugs or problems ever reported outside from Intel
for breaking any of that platforms for years. It seems no real
users exists who run more or less fresh kernel on it. Commit
05f4434bc1 ("ASoC: Intel: remove mfld_machine") is also in align
with this theory.

Due to above and to reduce a burden of supporting outdated drivers,
remove the support for outdated platforms completely.

David E. Box 4f8217d5b0 mfd: Intel Platform Monitoring Technology support
Intel Platform Monitoring Technology (PMT) is an architecture for
enumerating and accessing hardware monitoring facilities. PMT supports
multiple types of monitoring capabilities. This driver creates platform
devices for each type so that they may be managed by capability specific
drivers (to be introduced). Capabilities are discovered using PCIe DVSEC
ids. Support is included for the 3 current capability types, Telemetry,
Watcher, and Crashlog. The features are available on new Intel platforms
starting from Tiger Lake for which support is added. This patch adds
support for Tiger Lake (TGL), Alder Lake (ADL), and Out-of-Band Management
Services Module (OOBMSM).

Also add a quirk mechanism for several early hardware differences and bugs.
For Tiger Lake and Alder Lake, do not support Watcher and Crashlog
capabilities since they will not be compatible with future product. Also,
fix use a quirk to fix the discovery table offset.

Xu Yilun 876611c493 mfd: intel-m10-bmc: Add Intel MAX 10 BMC chip support for Intel FPGA PAC
This patch implements the basic functions of the BMC chip for some Intel

This BMC chip is connected to the FPGA by a SPI bus. To provide direct

Since commit 84af7a6194 ("checkpatch: kconfig: prefer 'help' over
'---help---'"), the number of '---help---' has been gradually
decreasing, but there are still more than 2400 instances.

This commit finishes the conversion. While I touched the lines,
I also fixed the indentation.

There are a variety of indentation styles found.

  a) 4 spaces + '---help---'
  b) 7 spaces + '---help---'
  c) 8 spaces + '---help---'
  d) 1 space + 1 tab + '---help---'
  e) 1 tab + '---help---' (correct indentation)
  f) 1 tab + 1 space + '---help---'
  g) 1 tab + 2 spaces + '---help---'

In order to convert all of them to 1 tab + 'help', I ran the
following commend:

  $ find . -name 'Kconfig*' | xargs sed -i 's/^[[:space:]]*---help---/\thelp/'

Linus Torvalds 694b5a5d31 ARM: SoC changes for v5.8

Cortex-a7 based relative of the RTD12xx chips that are already supported
in arch/arm64. The platform may also be extended to support running
32-bit kernels on those 64-bit chips for memory-constrained machines.

In the Renesas shmobile platform, we gain support for "RZ/G1H" or R8A7742,
an eight-core chip based on Cortex-A15 and Cortex-A7 cores, originally
released in 2016 as one of the last high-end 32-bit designs.

There is ongoing cleanup for the integrator, tegra, imx, and omap2
platforms, with integrator getting very close to the goal of having
zero code in arch/arm/, and omap2 moving more of the chip specifics
from old board code into device tree files.

The Versatile Express platform is made more modular, with built-in
drivers now becoming loadable modules. This is part of a greater effort
for the Android OS to have a common kernel binary for all platforms and
any platform specific code in loadable modules.

The PXA platform drops support for Compulab's pxa2xx boards that had
rather unusual flash and PCI drivers but no known users remaining.
All device drivers specific to those boards can now get removed as
 well.

Across platforms, there is ongoing cleanup, with Geert and Rob
revisiting some a lot of Kconfig options.

Mika Westerberg 25f1ca31e2 platform/x86: intel_pmc_ipc: Convert to MFD
This driver only creates a bunch of platform devices sharing resources
belonging to the PMC device. This is pretty much what MFD subsystem is
for so move the driver there, renaming it to intel_pmc_bxt.c which
should be more clear what it is.

MFD subsystem provides nice helper APIs for subdevice creation so
convert the driver to use those. Unfortunately the ACPI device includes
separate resources for most of the subdevices so we cannot simply call
mfd_add_devices() to create all of them but instead we need to call it
separately for each device.

The new MFD driver continues to expose two sysfs attributes that allow
userspace to send IPC commands to the PMC/SCU to avoid breaking any
existing applications that may use these. Generally this is bad idea so
document this in the ABI documentation.

Mika Westerberg 54b34aa0a7 platform/x86: intel_scu_ipc: Split out SCU IPC functionality from the SCU driver
The SCU IPC functionality is usable outside of Intel MID devices. For
example modern Intel CPUs include the same thing but now it is called
PMC (Power Management Controller) instead of SCU. To make the IPC
available for those split the driver into core part (intel_scu_ipc.c)
and the SCU PCI driver part (intel_scu_pcidrv.c) which then calls the
former before it goes and creates rest of the SCU devices. The SCU IPC
will also register a new class that gets assigned to the device that is
created under the parent PCI device.

We also split the Kconfig symbols so that INTEL_SCU_IPC enables the SCU
IPC library and INTEL_SCU_PCI the SCU driver and convert the users
accordingly. While there remove default y from the INTEL_SCU_PCI symbol
as it is already selected by X86_INTEL_MID.

Linus Walleij a77fc11156 mfd: Switch the AB8500 GPADC to IIO
The AB8500 GPADC driver is indeed a "general purpose ADC" driver,
and while the IIO subsystem did not exist when the driver was
first merged, it is never too late to clean things up and move it
to the right place.

Nowadays IIO provides the right abstractions and interfaces to
do generic ADC work in the kernel.

We have to cut a bunch of debugfs luggage to make this transition
swift, but all these files to is read out the raw values of the
ADC and the IIO subsystem already has a standard sysfs ABI for
doing exactly this: no debugfs is needed.

Enric Balletbo i Serra 2fa2b980e3 mfd / platform: cros_ec: Rename config to a better name
The cros-ec-dev is a multifunction device that now doesn't implement any

a good name to describe that device and can cause confusion. Hence
rename it to CROS_EC_DEV.

Andy Shevchenko b9a801dfa5 mfd: Add support for Merrifield Basin Cove PMIC
Add an MFD driver for Intel Merrifield Basin Cove PMIC.

Firmware on the platforms which are using Basin Cove PMIC is "smarter"
than on the rest supported by vanilla kernel. It handles first level
of interrupt itself, while others do it on OS level.

The driver is done in the same way as the rest of Intel PMIC MFD drivers
in the kernel to support the initial design. The design allows to use
one driver among few PMICs without knowing implementation details of
the each hardware version or generation.

Thor Thayer f36e789a1f mfd: altera-sysmgr: Add SOCFPGA System Manager
The SOCFPGA System Manager register block aggregates different
peripheral functions into one area.
On 32 bit ARM parts, handle in the same way as syscon.
On 64 bit ARM parts, the System Manager can only be accessed by
EL3 secure mode. Since a SMC call to EL3 is required, this new
driver uses regmaps similar to syscon to handle the SMC call.

Since regmaps abstract out the underlying register access, the
changes to drivers accessing the System Manager are minimal.

Linus Torvalds 3601fe43e8 This is the bulk of GPIO changes for the v5.1 cycle:
Core changes:

 - The big change this time around is the irqchip handling in
the qualcomm pin controllers, closely coupled with the
gpiochip. This rework, in a classic fall-between-the-chairs
fashion has been sidestepped for too long. The Qualcomm
IRQchips using the SPMI and SSBI transport mechanisms have
been rewritten to use hierarchical irqchip. This creates
the base from which I intend to gradually pull support for
hierarchical irqchips into the gpiolib irqchip helpers to
cut down on duplicate code. We have too many hacks in the
kernel because people have been working around the missing
hierarchical irqchip for years, and once it was there,
noone understood it for a while. We are now slowly adapting
to using it. This is why this pull requests include changes
to MFD, SPMI, IRQchip core and some ARM Device Trees
pertaining to the Qualcomm chip family. Since Qualcomm have
so many chips and such large deployments it is paramount
that this platform gets this right, and now it (hopefully)
   does.

 - Core support for pull-up and pull-down configuration, also
from the device tree. When a simple GPIO chip support a
"off or on" pull-up or pull-down resistor, we provide a
way to set this up using machine descriptors or device tree.
If more elaborate control of pull up/down (such as
resistance shunt setting) is required, drivers should be
phased over to use pin control. We do not yet provide a
userspace ABI for this pull up-down setting but I suspect
the makers are going to ask for it soon enough. PCA953x
is the first user of this new API.

 - The GPIO mockup driver has been revamped after some
discussion improving the IRQ simulator in the process.
The idea is to make it possible to use the mockup for
both testing and virtual prototyping, e.g. when you do
not yet have a GPIO expander to play with but really
want to get something to develop code around before
hardware is available. It's neat. The blackbox testing
usecase is currently making its way into kernelci.

 - ACPI GPIO core preserves non direction flags when updating
   flags.

 - A new device core helper for devm_platform_ioremap_resource()
is funneled through the GPIO tree with Greg's ACK.

 New drivers:

 - TQ-Systems QTMX86 GPIO controllers (using port-mapped
   I/O)

 - Gateworks PLD GPIO driver (vaccumed up from OpenWrt)

 - AMD G-Series PCH (Platform Controller Hub) GPIO driver.

 - Fintek F81804 & F81966 subvariants.

 - PCA953x now supports NXP PCAL6416.

 Driver improvements:

 - IRQ support on the Nintendo Wii (Hollywood) GPIO.

 - get_direction() support for the MVEBU driver.

 - Set the right output level on SAMA5D2.

 - Drop the unused irq trigger setting on the Spreadtrum
   driver.

 - Wakeup support for PCA953x.

 - A slew of cleanups in the various Intel drivers.

Christoph Hellwig ff4c25f26a dma-mapping: improve selection of dma_declare_coherent availability
This API is primarily used through DT entries, but two architectures
and two drivers call it directly. So instead of selecting the config
symbol for random architectures pull it in implicitly for the actual
users. Also rename the Kconfig option to describe the feature better.

Christoph Hellwig d037739220 mfd/sm501: depend on HAS_DMA
Currently the sm501 mfd driver can be compiled without any dependencies,
but through the use of dma_declare_coherent it really depends on
having DMA and iomem support. Normally we don't explicitly require DMA
support as we have stubs for it if on UML, but in this case the driver
selects support for dma_declare_coherent and thus also requires
memmap support. Guard this by an explicit dependency.

Charles Keepax 422dcafe47 mfd: lochnagar: Add support for the Cirrus Logic Lochnagar
Lochnagar is an evaluation and development board for Cirrus
Logic Smart CODEC and Amp devices. It allows the connection of
most Cirrus Logic devices on mini-cards, as well as allowing
connection of various application processor systems to provide a
full evaluation platform. This driver supports the board
controller chip on the Lochnagar board. Audio system topology,
clocking and power can all be controlled through the Lochnagar
controller chip, allowing the device under test to be used in
a variety of possible use cases.

As the Lochnagar is a fairly complex device this MFD driver
allows the drivers for the various features to be bound
in. Initially clocking, regulator and pinctrl will be added as
these are necessary to configure the system. But in time at least
audio and voltage/current monitoring will also be added.

Fix this by making above options to depend on I2C_DESIGNWARE_PLATFORM
being built-in. I2C_DESIGNWARE_PLATFORM is a visible symbol with
dependencies so in general the select should be avoided.

Enric Balletbo i Serra 6fd7f2bbd4 mfd / platform: cros_ec: Move device sysfs attributes to its own driver
The entire way how cros debugfs attibutes are created is broken.
cros_ec_sysfs should be its own driver and its attributes should be
associated with the sysfs driver not the mfd driver.

The patch also adds the sysfs documentation.

Sinan Kaya 9baddb61df mfd: Fix unmet dependency warning for MFD_TPS68470
After commit 5d32a66541 ("PCI/ACPI: Allow ACPI to be built without
CONFIG_PCI set") dependencies on CONFIG_PCI that previously were
satisfied implicitly through dependencies on CONFIG_ACPI have to be
specified directly.

WARNING: unmet direct dependencies detected for I2C_DESIGNWARE_PLATFORM
  Depends on [n]: I2C [=y] && HAS_IOMEM [=y] && (ACPI [=y] && COMMON_CLK [=n] || !ACPI [=y])
  Selected by [y]:
  - MFD_TPS68470 [=y] && HAS_IOMEM [=y] && ACPI [=y] && I2C [=y]=y

MFD_TPS68470 is an ACPI only device and selects I2C_DESIGNWARE_PLATFORM.

I2C_DESIGNWARE_PLATFORM does not have any configuration today for ACPI
support without CONFIG_PCI set.

For sake of a quick fix this introduces a new mandatory dependency to
the driver which may survive without it. Otherwise we need to revisit
the driver architecture to address this properly.
