spi: Add multi-cs memories support in SPI core
AMD-Xilinx GQSPI controller has two advanced mode that allows the
controller to consider two flashes as one single device.

One of these two mode is the parallel mode in which each byte of data is
stored in both devices, the even bits in the lower flash & the odd bits in
the upper flash. The byte split is automatically handled by the QSPI
controller.

The other mode is the stacked mode in which both the flashes share the
same SPI bus but each of the device contain half of the data. In this mode,
the controller does not follow CS requests but instead internally wires the
two CS levels with the value of the most significant address bit.

For supporting both these modes SPI core need to be updated for providing
multiple CS for a single SPI device.

For adding multi CS support the SPI device need to be aware of all the CS
values. So, the "chip_select" member in the spi_device structure is now an
array that holds all the CS values.

spi_device structure now has a "cs_index_mask" member. This acts as an
index to the chip_select array. If nth bit of spi->cs_index_mask is set
then the driver would assert spi->chip_select[n].

In parallel mode all the chip selects are asserted/de-asserted
simultaneously and each byte of data is stored in both devices, the even
bits in one, the odd bits in the other. The split is automatically handled
by the GQSPI controller. The GQSPI controller supports a maximum of two
flashes connected in parallel mode. A SPI_CONTROLLER_MULTI_CS flag bit is
added in the spi controller flags, through ctlr->flags the spi core
will make sure that the controller is capable of handling multiple chip
selects at once.

For supporting multiple CS via GPIO the cs_gpiod member of the spi_device
structure is now an array that holds the gpio descriptor for each
chipselect.

CS GPIO is not tested on our hardware, but it has been tested by @Stefan

spi: spl022: fix sleeping in interrupt context
Merge series from Nam Cao <namcao@linutronix.de>:

While running the spl022, I got the following warning:
BUG: sleeping function called from invalid context at drivers/spi/spi.c:1428

This is because between spi transfers, spi_transfer_delay_exec() (who
may sleep if the delay is >10us) is called in interrupt context. This is
a problem for anyone who runs this driver and need more than 10us delay.

Patch 1 adds an error reporting mechanism, needed by patch 2 who switch
to use the default spi_transfer_one_message(), which fix the problem.

The series is tested with polling transfer mode and interrupt transfer
mode. I can't test the DMA mode, so some help testing here is very
appreciated.

spi: Unify error codes by replacing -ENOTSUPP with -EOPNOTSUPP
This commit updates the SPI subsystem, particularly affecting "SPI MEM"
drivers and core parts, by replacing the -ENOTSUPP error code with
-EOPNOTSUPP.

The key motivations for this change are as follows:
1. The spi-nor driver currently uses EOPNOTSUPP, whereas calls to spi-mem
might return ENOTSUPP. This update aims to unify the error reporting
within the SPI subsystem for clarity and consistency.

2. The use of ENOTSUPP has been flagged by checkpatch as inappropriate,
mainly being reserved for NFS-related errors. To align with kernel coding
standards and recommendations, this change is being made.

3. By using EOPNOTSUPP, we provide more specific context to the error,
indicating that a particular operation is not supported. This helps
differentiate from the more generic ENOTSUPP error, allowing drivers to
better handle and respond to different error scenarios.

Risks and Considerations:
While this change is primarily intended as a code cleanup and error code
unification, there is a minor risk of breaking user-space applications
that rely on specific return codes for unsupported operations. However,
this risk is considered low, as such use-cases are unlikely to be common
or critical. Nevertheless, developers and users should be aware of this
change, especially if they have scripts or tools that specifically handle
SPI error codes.

This commit does not introduce any functional changes to the SPI subsystem
or the affected drivers.

spi: introduce SPI_TRANS_FAIL_IO for error reporting
The default message transfer implementation - spi_transfer_one_message -
invokes the specific device driver's transfer_one(), then waits for
completion. However, there is no mechanism for the device driver to
report failure in the middle of the transfer.

Introduce SPI_TRANS_FAIL_IO for drivers to report transfer failure.

spi: Fix null dereference on suspend
A race condition exists where a synchronous (noqueue) transfer can be
active during a system suspend. This can cause a null pointer
dereference exception to occur when the system resumes.

Example order of events leading to the exception:
1. spi_sync() calls __spi_transfer_message_noqueue() which sets
   ctlr->cur_msg
2. Spi transfer begins via spi_transfer_one_message()
3. System is suspended interrupting the transfer context
4. System is resumed
6. spi_controller_resume() calls spi_start_queue() which resets cur_msg
   to NULL
7. Spi transfer context resumes and spi_finalize_current_message() is
   called which dereferences cur_msg (which is now NULL)

Wait for synchronous transfers to complete before suspending by
acquiring the bus mutex and setting/checking a suspend flag.

Export acpi_spi_find_controller_by_adev() so that ACPI glue code which
wants to dynamically create a spi_device using acpi_spi_device_alloc() or
spi_new_device() on a controller, to which the code does not already have

spi: Don't use flexible array in struct spi_message definition
The struct spi_message can be embedded into another structures.
With that the flexible array might be problematic as sparse
complains about it, although there is no real issue in the code
because when the message is embedded it doesn't use flexible array
member. That memeber is a private to spi_message_alloc() API, so
move it to that API in a form of an inherited data type.

71c8f9cf26 mtd: spi-nor: avoid holes in struct spi_mem_op
gcc gets confused when -ftrivial-auto-var-init=pattern is used on sparse
bit fields such as 'struct spi_mem_op', which caused the previous false
positive warning about an uninitialized variable:

drivers/mtd/spi-nor/spansion.c: error: 'op' is used uninitialized [-Werror=uninitialized]

In fact, the variable is fully initialized and gcc does not see it being
used, so the warning is entirely bogus. The problem appears to be
a misoptimization in the initialization of single bit fields when the
rest of the bytes are not initialized.

A previous workaround added another initialization, which ended up
shutting up the warning in spansion.c, though it apparently still happens
in other files as reported by Peter Foley in the gcc bugzilla. The
workaround of adding a fake initialization seems particularly bad
because it would set values that can never be correct but prevent the
compiler from warning about actually missing initializations.

Revert the broken workaround and instead pad the structure to only
have bitfields that add up to full bytes, which should avoid this
behavior in all drivers.

I also filed a new bug against gcc with what I found, so this can
hopefully be addressed in future gcc releases. At the moment, only
gcc-12 and gcc-13 are affected.

spi: Use struct_size() helper
The Documentation/process/deprecated.rst suggests to use flexible array
members to provide a way to declare having a dynamically sized set of
trailing elements in a structure.This makes code robust agains bunch of
the issues described in the documentation, main of which is about the
correctness of the sizeof() calculation for this data structure.

Due to above, prefer struct_size() over open-coded versions.

spi: Create a helper to derive adaptive timeouts
Big transfers might take a bit of time, too constraining timeouts might
lead to false positives. In order to simplify the drivers work and with
the goal of factorizing code in mind, let's add a helper that can be
used by any spi controller driver to derive a relevant per-transfer
timeout value.

The logic is simple: we know how much time it would take to transfer a
byte, we can easily derive the total theoretical amount of time involved
for each transfer. We multiply it by two to have a bit of margin and
enforce a minimum of 500ms.

767d83361a Input: ads7846 - Convert to use software nodes
The Nokia 770 is using GPIOs from the global numberspace on the
CBUS node to pass down to the LCD controller. This regresses when we
let the OMAP GPIO driver use dynamic GPIO base.

The Nokia 770 now has dynamic allocation of IRQ numbers, so this
needs to be fixed for it to work.

As this is the only user of LCD MIPID we can easily augment the
driver to use a GPIO descriptor instead and resolve the issue.

The platform data .shutdown() callback wasn't even used in the
code, but we encode a shutdown asserting RESET in the remove()
callback for completeness sake.

The CBUS also has the ADS7846 touchscreen attached.

Populate the devices on the Nokia 770 CBUS I2C using software
nodes instead of platform data quirks. This includes the LCD
and the ADS7846 touchscreen so the conversion just brings the LCD
along with it as software nodes is an all-or-nothing design
pattern.

The ADS7846 has some limited support for using GPIO descriptors,
let's convert it over completely to using device properties and then
fix all remaining boardfile users to provide all platform data using
software nodes.

Dump the of includes and of_match_ptr() in the ADS7846 driver as part
of the job.

Since we have to move ADS7846 over to obtaining the GPIOs it is
using exclusively from descriptors, we provide descriptor tables
for the two remaining in-kernel boardfiles using ADS7846:

- PXA Spitz
- MIPS Alchemy DB1000 development board

It was too hard for me to include software node conversion of
these two remaining users at this time: the spitz is using a
hscync callback in the platform data that would require further
GPIO descriptor conversion of the Spitz, and moving the hsync
callback down into the driver: it will just become too big of
a job, but it can be done separately.

The MIPS Alchemy DB1000 is simply something I cannot test, so take
the easier approach of just providing some GPIO descriptors in
this case as I don't want the patch to grow too intrusive.

As we see that several device trees have incorrect polarity flags
and just expect to bypass the gpiolib polarity handling, fix up
all device trees too, in a separate patch.

spi: Add TPM HW flow flag
TPM specification [1] defines flow control over SPI. Client device can
insert a wait state on MISO when address is transmitted by controller
on MOSI. Detecting the wait state in software is only possible for
full duplex controllers. For controllers that support only half-
duplex, the wait state detection needs to be implemented in hardware.

Add a flag SPI_TPM_HW_FLOW for TPM device to set when software flow
control is not possible and hardware flow control is expected from
SPI controller.

that are below a given number of SPI words.

This function reuses most of its code from

spi: Reorder fields in 'struct spi_message'
Group some variables based on their sizes to reduce hole and avoid padding.
On x86_64, this shrinks the size from 112 to 96 bytes.

This should have no real impact on memory allocation because 'struct
spi_message' is mostly used on stack, but it can save a few cycles
when the structure is initialized with spi_message_init() and co.

     constant.  We didn't quite make it for this release, but the
     remaining patches will be finished up for the release after this
     one, but the groundwork has been laid for this effort.
 
 Other than that we have in here:
   - debugfs memory leak fixes in some subsystems
   - error path cleanups and fixes for some never-able-to-be-hit
     codepaths.
   - cacheinfo rework and fixes
   - Other tiny fixes, full details are in the shortlog

spi: Reorder fields in 'struct spi_transfer'
Group some variables based on their sizes to reduce hole and avoid padding.
On x86_64, this shrinks the size from 144 to 128 bytes.

Turn 'timestamped' into a bitfield so that it can be easily merged with
some other bifields and move 'error'.

This should have no real impact on memory allocation because 'struct
spi_transfer' is mostly used on stack, but it can save a few cycles
when the structure is initialized or copied.

Dmitry Torokhov points out that this conversion leaves an existing board
in reset state due to not properly handled polarity. Additionally, the

Revert to avoid these regressions.

Follow up patches for a better conversion are applied as well.

spi: Add APIs in spi core to set/get spi->chip_select and spi->cs_gpiod
Supporting multi-cs in spi core and spi controller drivers would require
the chip_select & cs_gpiod members of struct spi_device to be an array.
But changing the type of these members to array would break the spi driver
functionality. To make the transition smoother introduced four new APIs to
get/set the spi->chip_select & spi->cs_gpiod and replaced all
spi->chip_select and spi->cs_gpiod references in spi core with the API
calls.
While adding multi-cs support in further patches the chip_select & cs_gpiod
members of the spi_device structure would be converted to arrays & the
"idx" parameter of the APIs would be used as array index i.e.,
spi->chip_select[idx] & spi->cs_gpiod[idx] respectively.

cc2520 supports both probing from static platform_data and
from devicetree, but there have never been any definitions
of the platform data in the mainline kernel, so it's safe
to assume that only the DT path is used.

After folding cc2520_platform_data into the driver itself,
the GPIO handling can be simplified by moving to the modern
gpiod interface.

spi: Merge spi_controller.{slave,target}_abort()
Mixing SPI slave/target handlers and SPI slave/target controllers using
legacy and modern naming does not work well: there are now two different
callbacks for aborting a slave/target operation, of which only one is
populated, while spi_{slave,target}_abort() check and use only one,
which may be the unpopulated one.

Fix this by merging the slave/target abort callbacks into a single
callback using a union, like is already done for the slave/target flags.

spi: introduce new helpers with using modern naming
For using modern names host/target to instead of all the legacy names,
I think it takes 3 steps:
  - step1: introduce new helpers with modern naming.
  - step2: switch to use these new helpers in all drivers.
  - step3: remove all legacy helpers and update all legacy names.

This patch is for step1, it introduces new helpers with host/target
naming for drivers using.

spi: Introduce spi_get_device_match_data() helper
The proposed spi_get_device_match_data() helper is for retrieving
a driver data associated with the ID in an ID table. First, it tries
to get driver data of the device enumerated by firmware interface
(usually Device Tree or ACPI). If none is found it falls back to
the SPI ID table matching.
