4262b6eb05 kprobes: Forbid probing on trampoline and BPF code areas

kernel_text_address() treats ftrace_trampoline, kprobe_insn_slot
and bpf_text_address as valid kprobe addresses - which is not ideal.

These text areas are removable and changeable without any notification
to kprobes, and probing on them can trigger unexpected behavior:

Considering that jump_label and static_call text are already
forbiden to probe, kernel_text_address() should be replaced with
core_kernel_text() and is_module_text_address() to check other text
areas which are unsafe to kprobe.

8036057f8c profiling: fix shift too large makes kernel panic

2d186afd04 ("profiling: fix shift-out-of-bounds bugs") limits shift
value by [0, BITS_PER_LONG -1], which means [0, 63].

However, syzbot found that the max shift value should be the bit number of
(_etext - _stext).  If shift is outside of this, the "buffer_bytes" will
be zero and will cause kzalloc(0).  Then the kernel panics due to
dereferencing the returned pointer 16.

This can be easily reproduced by passing a large number like 60 to enable
profiling and then run readprofile.

8c90947e5f PM: hibernate: defer device probing when resuming from hibernation

syzbot is reporting hung task at misc_open() [1], for there is a race
window of AB-BA deadlock which involves probe_count variable. Currently
wait_for_device_probe() from snapshot_open() from misc_open() can sleep
forever with misc_mtx held if probe_count cannot become 0.

When a device is probed by hub_event() work function, probe_count is
incremented before the probe function starts, and probe_count is
decremented after the probe function completed.

There are three cases that can prevent probe_count from dropping to 0.

  (a) A device being probed stopped responding (i.e. broken/malicious
      hardware).

  (b) A process emulating a USB device using /dev/raw-gadget interface
      stopped responding for some reason.

  (c) New device probe requests keeps coming in before existing device
      probe requests complete.

The phenomenon syzbot is reporting is (b). A process which is holding
system_transition_mutex and misc_mtx is waiting for probe_count to become
0 inside wait_for_device_probe(), but the probe function which is called
 from hub_event() work function is waiting for the processes which are
blocked at mutex_lock(&misc_mtx) to respond via /dev/raw-gadget interface.

This patch mitigates (b) by deferring wait_for_device_probe() from
snapshot_open() to snapshot_write() and snapshot_ioctl(). Please note that
the possibility of (b) remains as long as any thread which is emulating a
USB device via /dev/raw-gadget interface can be blocked by uninterruptible
blocking operations (e.g. mutex_lock()).

Please also note that (a) and (c) are not addressed. Regarding (c), we
should change the code to wait for only one device which contains the
image for resuming from hibernation. I don't know how to address (a), for
use of timeout for wait_for_device_probe() might result in loss of user
data in the image. Maybe we should require the userland to wait for the
image device before opening /dev/snapshot interface.

875c9839f7 bpf: Make sure mac_header was set before using it
commit 0326195f52 upstream.

Classic BPF has a way to load bytes starting from the mac header.

Some skbs do not have a mac header, and skb_mac_header()
in this case is returning a pointer that 65535 bytes after
skb->head.

Existing range check in bpf_internal_load_pointer_neg_helper()
was properly kicking and no illegal access was happening.

New sanity check in skb_mac_header() is firing, so we need
to avoid it.

After this; e1 is attached to an unmapped rb and a subsequent
perf_mmap() will loop forever more:

The loop in perf_mmap_close() holds e2->mmap_mutex, while the attach
in perf_event_set_output() holds e1->mmap_mutex. As such there is no
serialization to avoid this race.

Change perf_event_set_output() to take both e1->mmap_mutex and
e2->mmap_mutex to alleviate that problem. Additionally, have the loop
in perf_mmap() detach the rb directly, this avoids having to wait for
the concurrent perf_mmap_close() to get around to doing it to make
progress.

31d3649b68 signal handling: don't use BUG_ON() for debugging

These are indeed "should not happen" situations, but it turns out recent
changes made the 'task_is_stopped_or_trace()' case trigger (fix for that
exists, is pending more testing), and the BUG_ON() makes it
unnecessarily hard to actually debug for no good reason.

It's been that way for a long time, but let's make it clear: BUG_ON() is
not good for debugging, and should never be used in situations where you
could just say "this shouldn't happen, but we can continue".

Use WARN_ON_ONCE() instead to make sure it gets logged, and then just
continue running.  Instead of making the system basically unusuable
because you crashed the machine while potentially holding some very core
locks (eg this function is commonly called while holding 'tasklist_lock'
for writing).

05f7658210 cgroup: Use separate src/dst nodes when preloading css_sets for migration
commit 07fd5b6cdf upstream.

Each cset (css_set) is pinned by its tasks. When we're moving tasks around
across csets for a migration, we need to hold the source and destination
csets to ensure that they don't go away while we're moving tasks about. This
is done by linking cset->mg_preload_node on either the
mgctx->preloaded_src_csets or mgctx->preloaded_dst_csets list. Using the
same cset->mg_preload_node for both the src and dst lists was deemed okay as
a cset can't be both the source and destination at the same time.

Unfortunately, this overloading becomes problematic when multiple tasks are
involved in a migration and some of them are identity noop migrations while
others are actually moving across cgroups. For example, this can happen with
the following sequence on cgroup1:

the process including the group leader back into a. In this final migration,
non-leader threads would be doing identity migration while the group leader
is doing an actual one.

After #3, let's say the whole process was in cset A, and that after #4, the
leader moves to cset B. Then, during #6, the following happens:

 1. cgroup_migrate_add_src() is called on B for the leader.

 2. cgroup_migrate_add_src() is called on A for the other threads.

 3. cgroup_migrate_prepare_dst() is called. It scans the src list.

 4. It notices that B wants to migrate to A, so it tries to A to the dst
    list but realizes that its ->mg_preload_node is already busy.

 5. and then it notices A wants to migrate to A as it's an identity
    migration, it culls it by list_del_init()'ing its ->mg_preload_node and
    putting references accordingly.

 6. The rest of migration takes place with B on the src list but nothing on
    the dst list.

This means that A isn't held while migration is in progress. If all tasks
leave A before the migration finishes and the incoming task pins it, the
cset will be destroyed leading to use-after-free.

This is caused by overloading cset->mg_preload_node for both src and dst
preload lists. We wanted to exclude the cset from the src list but ended up
inadvertently excluding it from the dst list too.

This patch fixes the issue by separating out cset->mg_preload_node into
->mg_src_preload_node and ->mg_dst_preload_node, so that the src and dst
preloadings don't interfere with each other.

6af88cc6e4 kexec_file: drop weak attribute from arch_kexec_apply_relocations[_add]
commit 3e35142ef9 upstream.

Since commit d1bcae833b32f1 ("ELF: Don't generate unused section
symbols") [1], binutils (v2.36+) started dropping section symbols that
it thought were unused.  This isn't an issue in general, but with
kexec_file.c, gcc is placing kexec_arch_apply_relocations[_add] into a
separate .text.unlikely section and the section symbol ".text.unlikely"
is being dropped. Due to this, recordmcount is unable to find a non-weak
symbol in .text.unlikely to generate a relocation record against.

Address this by dropping the weak attribute from these functions.
Instead, follow the existing pattern of having architectures #define the
name of the function they want to override in their headers.

2142a4d898 timekeeping: Add raw clock fallback for random_get_entropy()
commit 1366992e16 upstream.

The addition of random_get_entropy_fallback() provides access to
whichever time source has the highest frequency, which is useful for
gathering entropy on platforms without available cycle counters. It's
not necessarily as good as being able to quickly access a cycle counter
that the CPU has, but it's still something, even when it falls back to
being jiffies-based.

In the event that a given arch does not define get_cycles(), falling
back to the get_cycles() default implementation that returns 0 is really
not the best we can do. Instead, at least calling
random_get_entropy_fallback() would be preferable, because that always
needs to return _something_, even falling back to jiffies eventually.
It's not as though random_get_entropy_fallback() is super high precision
or guaranteed to be entropic, but basically anything that's not zero all
the time is better than returning zero all the time.

Finally, since random_get_entropy_fallback() is used during extremely
early boot when randomizing freelists in mm_init(), it can be called
before timekeeping has been initialized. In that case there really is
nothing we can do; jiffies hasn't even started ticking yet. So just give
up and return 0.

40b5b4b622 random: clear fast pool, crng, and batches in cpuhp bring up
commit 3191dd5a11 upstream.

For the irq randomness fast pool, rather than having to use expensive
atomics, which were visibly the most expensive thing in the entire irq
handler, simply take care of the extreme edge case of resetting count to
zero in the cpuhp online handler, just after workqueues have been
reenabled. This simplifies the code a bit and lets us use vanilla
variables rather than atomics, and performance should be improved.

As well, very early on when the CPU comes up, while interrupts are still
disabled, we clear out the per-cpu crng and its batches, so that it
always starts with fresh randomness.

0816ec55fc tracing: Avoid adding tracer option before update_tracer_options

To prepare for support asynchronous tracer_init_tracefs initcall,
avoid calling create_trace_option_files before __update_tracer_options.
Otherwise, create_trace_option_files will show warning because
some tracers in trace_types list are already in tr->topts.

For example, hwlat_tracer call register_tracer in late_initcall,
and global_trace.dir is already created in tracing_init_dentry,
hwlat_tracer will be put into tr->topts.
Then if the __update_tracer_options is executed after hwlat_tracer
registered, create_trace_option_files find that hwlat_tracer is
already in tr->topts.

be1f323fb9 tracing: Fix sleeping function called from invalid context on RT kernel

When setting bootparams="trace_event=initcall:initcall_start tp_printk=1" in the
cmdline, the output_printk() was called, and the spin_lock_irqsave() was called in the
atomic and irq disable interrupt context suitation. On the PREEMPT_RT kernel,
these locks are replaced with sleepable rt-spinlock, so the stack calltrace will
be triggered.
Fix it by raw_spin_lock_irqsave when PREEMPT_RT and "trace_event=initcall:initcall_start
tp_printk=1" enabled.

b5a53485dd ptrace: Reimplement PTRACE_KILL by always sending SIGKILL
commit 6a2d90ba02 upstream.

The current implementation of PTRACE_KILL is buggy and has been for
many years as it assumes it's target has stopped in ptrace_stop.  At a
quick skim it looks like this assumption has existed since ptrace
support was added in linux v1.0.

While PTRACE_KILL has been deprecated we can not remove it as
a quick search with google code search reveals many existing
programs calling it.

When the ptracee is not stopped at ptrace_stop some fields would be
set that are ignored except in ptrace_stop.  Making the userspace
visible behavior of PTRACE_KILL a noop in those case.

As the usual rules are not obeyed it is not clear what the
consequences are of calling PTRACE_KILL on a running process.
Presumably userspace does not do this as it achieves nothing.

Replace the implementation of PTRACE_KILL with a simple
send_sig_info(SIGKILL) followed by a return 0.  This changes the
observable user space behavior only in that PTRACE_KILL on a process
not stopped in ptrace_stop will also kill it.  As that has always
been the intent of the code this seems like a reasonable change.

dee63319e2 perf: Fix sys_perf_event_open() race against self
commit 3ac6487e58 upstream.

Norbert reported that it's possible to race sys_perf_event_open() such
that the looser ends up in another context from the group leader,
triggering many WARNs.

The move_group case checks for races against itself, but the
!move_group case doesn't, seemingly relying on the previous
group_leader->ctx == ctx check. However, that check is racy due to not
holding any locks at that time.

Therefore, re-check the result after acquiring locks and bailing
if they no longer match.

Additionally, clarify the not_move_group case from the
move_group-vs-move_group race.

7a34036ee5 cgroup/cpuset: Remove cpus_allowed/mems_allowed setup in cpuset_init_smp()

There are 3 places where the cpu and node masks of the top cpuset can
be initialized in the order they are executed:
 1) start_kernel -> cpuset_init()
 2) start_kernel -> cgroup_init() -> cpuset_bind()
 3) kernel_init_freeable() -> do_basic_setup() -> cpuset_init_smp()

The first cpuset_init() call just sets all the bits in the masks.
The second cpuset_bind() call sets cpus_allowed and mems_allowed to the
default v2 values. The third cpuset_init_smp() call sets them back to
v1 values.

For systems with cgroup v2 setup, cpuset_bind() is called once.  As a
result, cpu and memory node hot add may fail to update the cpu and node
masks of the top cpuset to include the newly added cpu or node in a
cgroup v2 environment.

For systems with cgroup v1 setup, cpuset_bind() is called again by
rebind_subsystem() when the v1 cpuset filesystem is mounted as shown
in the dmesg log below with an instrumented kernel.

smp_init() is called after the first two init functions.  So we don't
have a complete list of active cpus and memory nodes until later in
cpuset_init_smp() which is the right time to set up effective_cpus
and effective_mems.

To fix this cgroup v2 mask setup problem, the potentially incorrect
cpus_allowed & mems_allowed setting in cpuset_init_smp() are removed.
For cgroup v2 systems, the initial cpuset_bind() call will set the masks
correctly.  For cgroup v1 systems, the second call to cpuset_bind()
will do the right setup.

0f088623b6 smp: Fix offline cpu check in flush_smp_call_function_queue()

The check in flush_smp_call_function_queue() for callbacks that are sent
to offline CPUs currently checks whether the queue is empty.

However, flush_smp_call_function_queue() has just deleted all the
callbacks from the queue and moved all the entries into a local list.
This checks would only be positive if some callbacks were added in the
short time after llist_del_all() was called. This does not seem to be
the intention of this check.

Change the check to look at the local list to which the entries were
moved instead of the queue from which all the callbacks were just
removed.

2337c8257c cgroup: Use open-time cgroup namespace for process migration perm checks

cgroup process migration permission checks are performed at write time as
whether a given operation is allowed or not is dependent on the content of
the write - the PID. This currently uses current's cgroup namespace which is
a potential security weakness as it may allow scenarios where a less
privileged process tricks a more privileged one into writing into a fd that
it created.

This patch makes cgroup remember the cgroup namespace at the time of open
and uses it for migration permission checks instad of current's. Note that
this only applies to cgroup2 as cgroup1 doesn't have namespace support.

This also fixes a use-after-free bug on cgroupns reported in

f1ce7855af cgroup: Allocate cgroup_file_ctx for kernfs_open_file->priv
commit 0d2b5955b3 upstream.

of->priv is currently used by each interface file implementation to store
private information. This patch collects the current two private data usages
into struct cgroup_file_ctx which is allocated and freed by the common path.
This allows generic private data which applies to multiple files, which will
be used to in the following patch.

Note that cgroup_procs iterator is now embedded as procs.iter in the new
cgroup_file_ctx so that it doesn't need to be allocated and freed
separately.

v2: union dropped from cgroup_file_ctx and the procs iterator is embedded in
    cgroup_file_ctx as suggested by Linus.

v3: Michal pointed out that cgroup1's procs pidlist uses of->priv too.
    Converted. Didn't change to embedded allocation as cgroup1 pidlists get
    stored for caching.

If an invalid option value is used with "printk.devkmsg=<value>",
it is silently ignored.
If a valid option value is used, it is honored but the wrong return
value (0) is used, indicating that the command line option had an
error and was not handled. This string is not added to init's
environment strings due to init/main.c::unknown_bootoption()
checking for a '.' in the boot option string and then considering
that string to be an "Unused module parameter".

Print a warning message if a bad option string is used.
Always return 1 from the __setup handler to indicate that the command
line option has been handled.

f1442ed84c ptrace: Check PTRACE_O_SUSPEND_SECCOMP permission on PTRACE_SEIZE

Setting PTRACE_O_SUSPEND_SECCOMP is supposed to be a highly privileged
operation because it allows the tracee to completely bypass all seccomp
filters on kernels with CONFIG_CHECKPOINT_RESTORE=y. It is only supposed to
be settable by a process with global CAP_SYS_ADMIN, and only if that
process is not subject to any seccomp filters at all.

However, while these permission checks were done on the PTRACE_SETOPTIONS
path, they were missing on the PTRACE_SEIZE path, which also sets
user-specified ptrace flags.

Move the permissions checks out into a helper function and let both
ptrace_attach() and ptrace_setoptions() call it.

aba99eb4b8 tracing: Fix tp_printk option related with tp_printk_stop_on_boot

The kernel parameter "tp_printk_stop_on_boot" starts with "tp_printk" which is
the same as another kernel parameter "tp_printk". If "tp_printk" setup is
called before the "tp_printk_stop_on_boot", it will override the latter
and keep it from being set.

This is similar to other kernel parameter issues, such as:
  Commit 745a600cf1 ("um: console: Ignore console= option")
or init/do_mounts.c:45 (setup function of "ro" kernel param)

Fix it by checking for a "_" right after the "tp_printk" and if that
exists do not process the parameter.

16926f2a1a taskstats: Cleanup the use of task->exit_code

In the function bacct_add_task the code reading task->exit_code was
introduced in commit f3cef7a994 ("[PATCH] csa: basic accounting over
taskstats"), and it is not entirely clear what the taskstats interface
is trying to return as only returning the exit_code of the first task
in a process doesn't make a lot of sense.

As best as I can figure the intent is to return task->exit_code after
a task exits.  The field is returned with per task fields, so the
exit_code of the entire process is not wanted.  Only the value of the
first task is returned so this is not a useful way to get the per task
ptrace stop code.  The ordinary case of returning this value is
returning after a task exits, which also precludes use for getting
a ptrace value.

It is common to for the first task of a process to also be the last
task of a process so this field may have done something reasonable by
accident in testing.

Make ac_exitcode a reliable per task value by always returning it for
every exited task.

Setting ac_exitcode in a sensible mannter makes it possible to continue
to provide this value going forward.

2e5ed753c9 Revert "module, async: async_synchronize_full() on module init iff async is used"

This reverts commit 774a1221e8.

We need to finish all async code before the module init sequence is
done.  In the reverted commit the PF_USED_ASYNC flag was added to mark a
thread that called async_schedule().  Then the PF_USED_ASYNC flag was
used to determine whether or not async_synchronize_full() needs to be
invoked.  This works when modprobe thread is calling async_schedule(),
but it does not work if module dispatches init code to a worker thread
which then calls async_schedule().

For example, PCI driver probing is invoked from a worker thread based on
a node where device is attached:

We end up in a situation where a worker thread gets the PF_USED_ASYNC
flag set instead of the modprobe thread.  As a result,
async_synchronize_full() is not invoked and modprobe completes without
waiting for the async code to finish.

The issue was discovered while loading the pm80xx driver:

Commit 21c3c5d280 ("block: don't request module during elevator init")
fixed the deadlock issue which the reverted commit 774a1221e8
("module, async: async_synchronize_full() on module init iff async is
used") tried to fix.

Since commit 0fdff3ec6d ("async, kmod: warn on synchronous
request_module() from async workers") synchronous module loading from
async is not allowed.

Given that the original deadlock issue is fixed and it is no longer
allowed to call synchronous request_module() from async we can remove
PF_USED_ASYNC flag to make module init consistently invoke
async_synchronize_full() unless async module probe is requested.

e69f08ba23 bpf: Add kconfig knob for disabling unpriv bpf by default

Add a kconfig knob which allows for unprivileged bpf to be disabled by default.
If set, the knob sets /proc/sys/kernel/unprivileged_bpf_disabled to value of 2.

This still allows a transition of 2 -> {0,1} through an admin. Similarly,
this also still keeps 1 -> {1} behavior intact, so that once set to permanently
disabled, it cannot be undone aside from a reboot.

We've also added extra2 with max of 2 for the procfs handler, so that an admin
still has a chance to toggle between 0 <-> 2.

Either way, as an additional alternative, applications can make use of CAP_BPF
that we added a while ago.

6ddff8f376 audit: improve audit queue handling when "audit=1" on cmdline

When an admin enables audit at early boot via the "audit=1" kernel
command line the audit queue behavior is slightly different; the
audit subsystem goes to greater lengths to avoid dropping records,
which unfortunately can result in problems when the audit daemon is
forcibly stopped for an extended period of time.

This patch makes a number of changes designed to improve the audit
queuing behavior so that leaving the audit daemon in a stopped state
for an extended period does not cause a significant impact to the
system.

- kauditd_send_queue() is now limited to looping through the
  passed queue only once per call.  This not only prevents the
  function from looping indefinitely when records are returned
  to the current queue, it also allows any recovery handling in
  kauditd_thread() to take place when kauditd_send_queue()
  returns.

- Transient netlink send errors seen as -EAGAIN now cause the
  record to be returned to the retry queue instead of going to
  the hold queue.  The intention of the hold queue is to store,
  perhaps for an extended period of time, the events which led
  up to the audit daemon going offline.  The retry queue remains
  a temporary queue intended to protect against transient issues
  between the kernel and the audit daemon.

- The retry queue is now limited by the audit_backlog_limit
  setting, the same as the other queues.  This allows admins
  to bound the size of all of the audit queues on the system.

- kauditd_rehold_skb() now returns records to the end of the
  hold queue to ensure ordering is preserved in the face of
  recent changes to kauditd_send_queue().

The program itself which caused this had a long jump over the whole
instruction sequence where all of the inner instructions required
heavy expansions into multiple BPF instructions. Additionally, I also
had BPF hardening enabled which requires once more rewrites of all
constant values in order to blind them. Each time we rewrite insns,
bpf_adj_branches() would need to potentially adjust branch targets
which cross the patchlet boundary to accommodate for the additional
delta. Eventually that lead to the case where the target offset could
not fit into insn->off's upper 0x7fff limit anymore where then offset
wraps around becoming negative (in s16 universe), or vice versa
depending on the jump direction.

Therefore it becomes necessary to detect and reject any such occasions
in a generic way for native eBPF and cBPF to eBPF migrations. For
the latter we can simply check bounds in the bpf_convert_filter()'s
BPF_EMIT_JMP helper macro and bail out once we surpass limits. The
bpf_patch_insn_single() for native eBPF (and cBPF to eBPF in case
of subsequent hardening) is a bit more complex in that we need to
detect such truncations before hitting the bpf_prog_realloc(). Thus
the latter is split into an extra pass to probe problematic offsets
on the original program in order to fail early. With that in place
and carefully tested I no longer hit the panic and the rewrites are
rejected properly. The above example panic I've seen on bpf-next,
though the issue itself is generic in that a guard against this issue
in bpf seems more appropriate in this case.

50ee62f5fe cputime, cpuacct: Include guest time in user time in cpuacct.stat

cpuacct.stat in no-root cgroups shows user time without guest time
included int it. This doesn't match with user time shown in root
cpuacct.stat and /proc/<pid>/stat. This also affects cgroup2's cpu.stat
in the same way.

Make account_guest_time() to add user time to cgroup's cpustat to
fix this.

29e8ce3c26 sched/rt: Try to restart rt period timer when rt runtime exceeded

When rt_runtime is modified from -1 to a valid control value, it may
cause the task to be throttled all the time. Operations like the following
will trigger the bug. E.g:

  1. echo -1 > /proc/sys/kernel/sched_rt_runtime_us
  2. Run a FIFO task named A that executes while(1)
  3. echo 950000 > /proc/sys/kernel/sched_rt_runtime_us

When rt_runtime is -1, The rt period timer will not be activated when task
A enqueued. And then the task will be throttled after setting rt_runtime to
950,000. The task will always be throttled because the rt period timer is
not activated.

osnoise tracer on ppc64le is triggering osnoise_taint() for negative
duration in get_int_safe_duration() called from
trace_sched_switch_callback()->thread_exit().

The problem though is that the check for a valid trace_percpu_buffer is
incorrect in get_trace_buf(). The check is being done after calculating
the pointer for the current cpu, rather than on the main percpu pointer.
Fix the check to be against trace_percpu_buffer.

c0b25c6d1b timekeeping: Really make sure wall_to_monotonic isn't positive

Even after commit e1d7ba8735 ("time: Always make sure wall_to_monotonic
isn't positive") it is still possible to make wall_to_monotonic positive
by running the following code:

The reason is that the second parameter of timespec64_compare(), ts_delta,
may be unnormalized because the delta is calculated with an open coded
substraction which causes the comparison of tv_sec to yield the wrong
result:

  ts_delta 	    = { .tv_sec =  -9, .tv_nsec = -900000000 }

That makes timespec64_compare() claim that wall_to_monotonic < ts_delta,
but actually the result should be wall_to_monotonic > ts_delta.

After normalization, the result of timespec64_compare() is correct because
the tv_sec comparison is not longer misleading:

75fdb751f8 audit: improve robustness of the audit queue handling
commit f4b3ee3c85 upstream.

If the audit daemon were ever to get stuck in a stopped state the
kernel's kauditd_thread() could get blocked attempting to send audit
records to the userspace audit daemon.  With the kernel thread
blocked it is possible that the audit queue could grow unbounded as
certain audit record generating events must be exempt from the queue
limits else the system enter a deadlock state.

This patch resolves this problem by lowering the kernel thread's
socket sending timeout from MAX_SCHEDULE_TIMEOUT to HZ/10 and tweaks
the kauditd_send_queue() function to better manage the various audit
queues when connection problems occur between the kernel and the
audit daemon.  With this patch, the backlog may temporarily grow
beyond the defined limits when the audit daemon is stopped and the
system is under heavy audit pressure, but kauditd_thread() will
continue to make progress and drain the queues as it would for other
connection problems.  For example, with the audit daemon put into a
stopped state and the system configured to audit every syscall it
was still possible to shutdown the system without a kernel panic,
deadlock, etc.; granted, the system was slow to shutdown but that is
to be expected given the extreme pressure of recording every syscall.

The timeout value of HZ/10 was chosen primarily through
experimentation and this developer's "gut feeling".  There is likely
no one perfect value, but as this scenario is limited in scope (root
privileges would be needed to send SIGSTOP to the audit daemon), it
is likely not worth exposing this as a tunable at present.  This can
always be done at a later date if it proves necessary.

The reason is elts->pages[i] is alloced by get_zeroed_page.
and kmemleak will not scan the area alloced by get_zeroed_page.
The address stored in elts->pages will be regarded as leaked.

That is, the elts->pages[i] will have pointers loaded onto it as well, and
without telling kmemleak about it, those pointers will look like memory
without a reference.

To fix this, call kmemleak_alloc to tell kmemleak to scan elts->pages[i]

a36e1978c6 wait: add wake_up_pollfree()
commit 42288cb44c upstream.

Several ->poll() implementations are special in that they use a
waitqueue whose lifetime is the current task, rather than the struct
file as is normally the case.  This is okay for blocking polls, since a
blocking poll occurs within one task; however, non-blocking polls
require another solution.  This solution is for the queue to be cleared
before it is freed, using 'wake_up_poll(wq, EPOLLHUP | POLLFREE);'.

However, that has a bug: wake_up_poll() calls __wake_up() with
nr_exclusive=1.  Therefore, if there are multiple "exclusive" waiters,
and the wakeup function for the first one returns a positive value, only
that one will be called.  That's *not* what's needed for POLLFREE;
POLLFREE is special in that it really needs to wake up everyone.

Considering the three non-blocking poll systems:

- io_uring poll doesn't handle POLLFREE at all, so it is broken anyway.

- aio poll is unaffected, since it doesn't support exclusive waits.
  However, that's fragile, as someone could add this feature later.

- epoll doesn't appear to be broken by this, since its wakeup function
  returns 0 when it sees POLLFREE.  But this is fragile.

Although there is a workaround (see epoll), it's better to define a
function which always sends POLLFREE to all waiters.  Add such a
function.  Also make it verify that the queue really becomes empty after
all waiters have been woken up.

e0d837ac05 bpf: Fix the off-by-two error in range markings
commit 2fa7d94afc upstream.

The first commit cited below attempts to fix the off-by-one error that
appeared in some comparisons with an open range. Due to this error,
arithmetically equivalent pieces of code could get different verdicts
from the verifier, for example (pseudocode):

  // 1. Passes the verifier:
  if (data + 8 > data_end)
      return early
  read *(u64 *)data, i.e. [data; data+7]

  // 2. Rejected by the verifier (should still pass):
  if (data + 7 >= data_end)
      return early
  read *(u64 *)data, i.e. [data; data+7]

The attempted fix, however, shifts the range by one in a wrong
direction, so the bug not only remains, but also such piece of code
starts failing in the verifier:

  // 3. Rejected by the verifier, but the check is stricter than in #1.
  if (data + 8 >= data_end)
      return early
  read *(u64 *)data, i.e. [data; data+7]

The change performed by that fix converted an off-by-one bug into
off-by-two. The second commit cited below added the BPF selftests
written to ensure than code chunks like #3 are rejected, however,
they should be accepted.

This commit fixes the off-by-two error by adjusting new_range in the
right direction and fixes the tests by changing the range into the
one that should actually fail.
