Commit 7930742d6, reverting 26fd962, missed out on reverting an incorrect
change to a return value. The niu_pci_vpd_scan_props(..) == 1 case appears
to be a normal path - treating it as an error and return -EINVAL was
breaking VPD_SCAN and causing the driver to fail to load.
Fix, so my Neptune card works again.

The driver core ignores the return value of struct bus_type::remove()
because there is only little that can be done. To simplify the quest to
make this function return void, let struct vio_driver::remove() return
void, too. All users already unconditionally return 0, this commit makes
it obvious that returning an error code is a bad idea and should prevent
that future driver authors consider returning an error code.
Note there are two nominally different implementations for a vio bus:
one in arch/sparc/kernel/vio.c and the other in
arch/powerpc/platforms/pseries/vio.c. This patch only addresses the
former.

niu_pci_eeprom_read() may fail, so add checks to its return value and
propagate the error up the callstack.
An examination of the callstack up to niu_pci_eeprom_read shows that:
niu_pci_eeprom_read() // returns int
niu_pci_vpd_scan_props() // returns int
niu_pci_vpd_fetch() // returns *void*
niu_get_invariants() // returns int
since niu_pci_vpd_fetch() returns void which breaks the bubbling up,
change its return type to int so that error is propagated upwards.

Because of recent interactions with developers from @umn.edu, all
commits from them have been recently re-reviewed to ensure if they were
correct or not.
Upon review, this commit was found to be incorrect for the reasons
below, so it must be reverted. It will be fixed up "correctly" in a
later kernel change.
The change here was incorrect. While it is nice to check if
niu_pci_eeprom_read() succeeded or not when using the data, any error
that might have happened was not propagated upwards properly, causing
the kernel to assume that these reads were successful, which results in
invalid data in the buffer that was to contain the successfully read
data.

Add redirect_neigh() BPF packet redirect helper, allowing to limit stack
traversal in common container configs and improving TCP back-pressure.
Daniel reports ~10Gbps => ~15Gbps single stream TCP performance gain.
Expand netlink policy support and improve policy export to user space.
(Ge)netlink core performs request validation according to declared
policies. Expand the expressiveness of those policies (min/max length
and bitmasks). Allow dumping policies for particular commands.

bigmac_init_rings() has an argument signaling if it is called from the
interrupt handler. This is used to decide between GFP_KERNEL and GFP_ATOMIC
for memory allocations.
But it also checks in_interrupt() to handle invocations which come from the
timer callback bigmac_timer() via bigmac_hw_init(), which is invoked with
'in_irq = 0'. While the timer callback is clearly not in hard interrupt
context it is still not sleepable context.
Rename the argument to `non_blocking' and set it to true if invoked from
the timer callback or the interrupt handler which allows to remove the
in_interrupt() check and makes the code consistent.

As part of the W=1 cleanups for ethernet, a million [*] driver
comments had to be cleaned up to get the W=1 compilation to
succeed. This change finally makes the drivers/net/ethernet tree
compile with W=1 set on the command line. NOTE: The kernel uses
kdoc style (see Documentation/process/kernel-doc.rst) when
documenting code, not doxygen or other styles.
After this patch the x86_64 build has no warnings from W=1, however
scripts/kernel-doc says there are 1545 more warnings in source files, that
I need to develop a script to fix in a followup patch.
The errors fixed here are all kdoc of a few classes, with a few outliers:

Using uninitialized_var() is dangerous as it papers over real bugs[1]
(or can in the future), and suppresses unrelated compiler warnings
(e.g. "unused variable"). If the compiler thinks it is uninitialized,
either simply initialize the variable or make compiler changes.
In preparation for removing[2] the[3] macro[4], remove all remaining
needless uses with the following script:

helper functions to do it.
After upgrading to the generic structure, PCI core will take care of
required tasks and drivers should do only device-specific operations.
In this driver:
gem_suspend() calls gem_do_stop() which in turn invokes
pci_disable_device(). As the PCI helper function is not called at the
end/start of the function body, breaking the function in two parts
may change its behavior.
The only other function invoking gem_do_stop() is gem_close(). Hence,
gem_close() and gem_suspend() can do the required end steps on their own.
The same case is with gem_resume(). Both gem_resume() and gem_open()
invoke gem_do_start(). Again, make the caller functions do the required
steps on their own.

decreasing, but there are still more than 2400 instances.
This commit finishes the conversion. While I touched the lines,

Patch series "mm: consolidate definitions of page table accessors", v2.
The low level page table accessors (pXY_index(), pXY_offset()) are
duplicated across all architectures and sometimes more than once. For
instance, we have 31 definition of pgd_offset() for 25 supported
architectures.
Most of these definitions are actually identical and typically it boils
down to, e.g.

These definitions can be shared among 90% of the arches provided
XYZ_SHIFT, PTRS_PER_XYZ and xyz_page_vaddr() are defined.
For architectures that really need a custom version there is always
possibility to override the generic version with the usual ifdefs magic.
These patches introduce include/linux/pgtable.h that replaces
include/asm-generic/pgtable.h and add the definitions of the page table
accessors to the new header.
This patch (of 12):
The linux/mm.h header includes <asm/pgtable.h> to allow inlining of the
functions involving page table manipulations, e.g. pte_alloc() and
pmd_alloc(). So, there is no point to explicitly include <asm/pgtable.h>
in the files that include <linux/mm.h>.
The include statements in such cases are remove with a simple loop:

Because sunvnet is calling icmp from network device context, it should use
the ndo helper so that the rate limiting applies correctly. While we're
at it, doing the additional route lookup before calling icmp_ndo_send is
superfluous, since this is the job of the icmp code in the first place.

After the previous patch, all the callers of ndo_select_queue()
provide as a 'fallback' argument netdev_pick_tx.
The only exceptions are nested calls to ndo_select_queue(),
which pass down the 'fallback' available in the current scope
- still netdev_pick_tx.
We can drop such argument and replace fallback() invocation with
netdev_pick_tx(). This avoids an indirect call per xmit packet
in some scenarios (TCP syn, UDP unconnected, XDP generic, pktgen)
with device drivers implementing such ndo. It also clean the code
a bit.
Tested with ixgbe and CONFIG_FCOE=m
With pktgen using queue xmit:

When building with -Wsometimes-uninitialized, Clang warns:

The default case can never happen because i can only be 0 to 3
(NIU_L3_PROG_CLS is defined as 4). To make this clear to Clang,
just zero initialize class in the default case (use the macro
CLASS_CODE_UNRECOG to make it clear this shouldn't happen).

The recent addition of SPDX license identifiers to the files in
drivers/net/ethernet/sun created a licensing conflict.
The cassini driver files contain a proper license notice:

So the file got tagged GPL v2 only while in fact it is licensed under GPL
v2 or later.
It's nice that people care about the SPDX tags, but they need to be more
careful about it. Not everything under (the) sun belongs to ...
Fix up the SPDX identifier and remove the boiler plate text as it is
redundant.
