While the patch was working as stated,ie preventing the L850-GL LTE modem
from crashing on some U3 wake-ups due to a race condition between the
host wake-up and the modem-side wake-up, when using the MBIM interface,
this would force disabling the USB runtime PM on the device.
The increased power consumption is significant for LTE laptops,
and given that with decently recent modem firmwares, when the modem hits
the bug, it automatically recovers (ie it drops from the bus, but
automatically re-enumerates after less than half a second, rather than being
stuck until a power cycle as it was doing with ancient firmware), for
most people, the trade-off now seems in favor of re-enabling it by
default.
For people with access to the platform code, the bug can also be worked-around
successfully by changing the USB3 LFPM polling off-time for the XHCI
controller in the BIOS code.

This reverts commit ca91fd8c76 ("USB: Add reset-resume quirk for
WD19's Realtek Hub"). The previous patch in the series now handles
the problematic hubs by checking the port status and handling it
accordingly when PORT_SUSPEND timeout occurs. We don't need to use
reset-resume all the time.

The failure results from the ETIMEDOUT by chance when turning on
the suspend feature for the specified port of the hub. The port
seems to be in an unknown state so the hub_activate during resume
fails the hub_port_status, then the hub will fail to work.
The quirky hub needs the reset-resume quirk to function correctly.

This LTE modem (M.2 card) has a bug in its power management:
there is some kind of race condition for U3 wake-up between the host and
the device. The modem firmware sometimes crashes/locks when both events
happen at the same time and the modem fully drops off the USB bus (and
sometimes re-enumerates, sometimes just gets stuck until the next
reboot).
Tested with the modem wired to the XHCI controller on an AMD 3015Ce
platform. Without the patch, the modem dropped of the USB bus 5 times in
3 days. With the quirk, it stayed connected for a week while the
'runtime_suspended_time' counter incremented as excepted.

Commit 3e4f8e21c4 ("USB: core: fix check for duplicate endpoints")
aimed to make the USB stack more reliable by detecting and skipping
over endpoints that are duplicated between interfaces. This caused a
regression for a Hercules audio card (reported as Bugzilla #208357),
which contains such non-compliant duplications. Although the
duplications are harmless, skipping the valid endpoints prevented the
device from working.
This patch fixes the regression by adding ENDPOINT_IGNORE quirks for
the Hercules card, telling the kernel to ignore the invalid duplicate
endpoints and thereby allowing the valid endpoints to be used as
intended.

Seeking a better fix, we've tried a lot of things, including:
- Check that the device's power/wakeup is disabled
- Check that remote wakeup is off at the USB level
- All the quirks in drivers/usb/core/quirks.c
e.g. USB_QUIRK_RESET_RESUME,
USB_QUIRK_RESET,
USB_QUIRK_IGNORE_REMOTE_WAKEUP,
USB_QUIRK_NO_LPM.
but none of that makes any difference.
There are no errors in the logs showing any suspend/resume-related issues.
When the system wakes up due to the modem, log-wise it appears to be a
normal resume.
Introduce a quirk to disable the port during suspend when the modem is
detected.

In Bugzilla #208257, Julien Humbert reports that a 32-GB Kingston
flash drive spontaneously disconnects and reconnects, over and over.
Testing revealed that disabling Link Power Management for the drive
fixed the problem.
This patch adds a quirk entry for that drive to turn off LPM permanently.

The Sound Devices MixPre-D audio card suffers from the same defect
as the Sound Devices USBPre2: an endpoint shared between a normal
audio interface and a vendor-specific interface, in violation of the
USB spec. Since the USB core now treats duplicated endpoints as bugs
and ignores them, the audio endpoint isn't available and the card
can't be used for audio capture.
Along the same lines as commit bdd1b147b8 ("USB: quirks: blacklist
duplicate ep on Sound Devices USBPre2"), this patch adds a quirks
entry saying to ignore ep5in for interface 1, leaving it available for
use with standard audio interface 2.

The function quirks_param_set() takes as argument a const char* pointer
to the new value of the usbcore.quirks parameter. It then casts this
pointer to a non-const char* pointer and passes it to the strsep()
function, which overwrites the value.
Fix this by creating a copy of the value using kstrdup() and letting
that copy be written to by strsep().

We have been receiving bug reports that ethernet connections over
RTL8153 based ethernet adapters stops working after a while with
errors like these showing up in dmesg when the ethernet stops working:

This has been reported on Dell WD15 docks, Belkin USB-C Express Dock 3.1
docks and with generic USB to ethernet dongles using the RTL8153
chipsets. Some users have tried adding usbcore.quirks=0bda:8153:k to
the kernel commandline and all users who have tried this report that
this fixes this.
Also note that we already have an existing NO_LPM quirk for the RTL8153
used in the Microsoft Surface Dock (where it uses a different usb-id).
This commit adds a NO_LPM quirk for the generic Realtek RTL8153
0bda:8153 usb-id, fixing the Tx timeout errors on these devices.

Realtek Hub (0bda:0x0487) used in Dell Dock WD19 sometimes drops off the
bus when bringing underlying ports from U3 to U0.
Disabling LPM on the hub during setting link state is not enough, so
let's disable LPM completely for this hub.

Add a new device quirk that can be used to blacklist endpoints.
Since commit 3e4f8e21c4 ("USB: core: fix check for duplicate
endpoints") USB core ignores any duplicate endpoints found during
descriptor parsing.
In order to handle devices where the first interfaces with duplicate
endpoints are the ones that should have their endpoints ignored, we need
to add a blacklist.

This patch fixes the chipmunk-like voice that manifets randomly when
using the integrated mic of the Logitech Webcam HD C270.
The issue was solved initially for this device by commit 2394d67e44
("USB: add RESET_RESUME for webcams shown to be quirky") but it was then
reintroduced by e387ef5c47 ("usb: Add USB_QUIRK_RESET_RESUME for all
Logitech UVC webcams"). This patch is to have the fix back.

To match the Corsair Strafe RGB, the Corsair K70 RGB also requires
USB_QUIRK_DELAY_CTRL_MSG to completely resolve boot connection issues
discussed here: https://github.com/ckb-next/ckb-next/issues/42.
Otherwise roughly 1 in 10 boots the keyboard will fail to be detected.

Some lower volume SanDisk Ultra Flair in 16GB, which the VID:PID is
in 0781:5591, will aggressively request LPM of U1/U2 during runtime,
when using this thumb drive as the OS installation key we found the
device will generate failure during U1 exit path making it dropped

Analyzed the USB trace in the link layer we realized it is because
of the 6-ms timer of tRecoveryConfigurationTimeout which documented
on the USB 3.2 Revision 1.0, the section 7.5.10.4.2 of "Exit from
Recovery.Configuration"; device initiates U1 exit -> Recovery.Active
-> Recovery.Configuration, then the host timer timeout makes the link
transits to eSS.Inactive -> Rx.Detect follows by a Warm Reset.
Interestingly, the other higher volume of SanDisk Ultra Flair sharing
the same VID:PID, such as 64GB, would not request LPM during runtime,
it sticks at U0 always, thus disabling LPM does not affect those thumb
drives at all.
The same odd occures in SanDisk Ultra Fit 16GB, VID:PID in 0781:5583.

Cherry G230 Stream 2.0 (G85-231) and 3.0 (G85-232) need this quirk to

Raydium claims the touchscreen supports LPM under Windows, so I used
Microsoft USB Test Tools (MUTT) [1] to check its LPM status. MUTT shows

Some expirements indicate that the USB devices connected to the hub are
innocent, it's the hub itself is to blame. The hub needs extra delay
time after it resets its port.
Hence wait for extra delay, if the device is connected to this quirky
hub.

Applying dynamic usbcore quirks in early booting when the slab is
not yet ready would cause kernel panic of null pointer dereference
because the quirk_count has been counted as 1 while the quirk_list
was failed to allocate.

To tackle this odd, let's balance the quirk_count to 0 when the kcalloc
call fails, and defer the quirk setting into a lower level callback
which ensures that the kernel memory management has been initialized.

This device does not correctly handle the LPM operations.
Also, the device cannot handle ATA pass-through commands
and locks up when attempted while running in super speed.
This patch adds the equivalent quirk logic as found in uas.

WORLDE Controller KS49 or Prodipe MIDI 49C USB controller
cause a -EPROTO error, a communication restart and loop again.
This issue has already been fixed for KS25.

Corsair Strafe appears to suffer from the same issues
as the Corsair Strafe RGB.
Apply the same quirks (control message delay and init delay)
that the RGB version has to 1b1c:1b15.
With these quirks in place the keyboard works correctly upon
booting the system, and no longer requires reattaching the device.

strsep() slices string, so the string gets copied by
param_set_copystring() at the end of quirks_param_set() is not the
original value.
Fix that by calling param_set_copystring() earlier.
The null check for val is unnecessary, the caller of quirks_param_set()
does not pass null string.
Remove the superfluous null check. This is found by Smatch.

Trying quirks in usbcore needs to rebuild the driver or the entire
kernel if it's builtin. It can save a lot of time if usbcore has similar
ability like "usbhid.quirks=" and "usb-storage.quirks=".
Rename the original quirk detection function to "static" as we introduce
this new "dynamic" function.
Now users can use "usbcore.quirks=" as short term workaround before the
next kernel release. Also, the quirk parameter can XOR the builtin
quirks for debugging purpose.
This is inspired by usbhid and usb-storage.

Corsair Strafe RGB keyboard does not respond to usb control messages
sometimes and hence generates timeouts.
Commit de3af5bf25 ("usb: quirks: add delay init quirk for Corsair
Strafe RGB keyboard") tried to fix those timeouts by adding
USB_QUIRK_DELAY_INIT.
Unfortunately, even with this quirk timeouts of usb_control_msg()
can still be seen, but with a lower frequency (approx. 1 out of 15):

Adding further delays to different locations where usb control
messages are issued just moves the timeouts to other locations,
e.g.:

The only way to reliably avoid those issues is having a pause after
each usb control message. In approx. 200 boot cycles no more timeouts
were seen.
Addionaly, keep USB_QUIRK_DELAY_INIT as it turned out to be necessary
to have the delay in hub_port_connect() after hub_port_init().
The overall boot time seems not to be influenced by these additional
delays, even on fast machines and lightweight distributions.

KY-688 USB 3.1 Type-C Hub internally uses a Genesys Logic hub to connect
to Realtek r8153.
Similar to commit ("7496cfe5431f2 usb: quirks: Add no-lpm quirk for Moshi
USB to Ethernet Adapter"), no-lpm can make r8153 ethernet work.

Now that the SPDX tag is in all USB files, that identifies the license
in a specific and legally-defined manner. So the extra GPL text wording
can be removed as it is no longer needed at all.
This is done on a quest to remove the 700+ different ways that files in
the kernel describe the GPL license text. And there's unneeded stuff
like the address (sometimes incorrect) for the FSF which is never
needed.
No copyright headers or other non-license-description text was removed.
