04b7d704c6 hwrng: octeon - Use devm_hwrng_register
Use resource managed function devm_hwrng_register instead of
hwrng_register to make the error-path simpler. Also, remove
octeon_rng_remove as it is now redundant.

9b7ebe0129 drivers/char: make efirtc.c driver explicitly non-modular
The Kconfig for this driver is currently:

config EFI_RTC
        bool "EFI Real Time Clock Services"

...meaning that it currently is not being built as a module by anyone.
Lets remove all modular references, so that when reading the driver
there is no doubt it is builtin-only.

Since module_init translates to device_initcall in the non-modular
case, the init ordering remains unchanged with this commit.

a8cedfec8f drivers/char: make hpet.c explicitly non-modular
The Kconfig currently controlling compilation of this code is:

char/Kconfig:config HPET
char/Kconfig:   bool "HPET - High Precision Event Timer" if (X86 || IA64)

...meaning that it currently is not being built as a module by anyone.

Lets remove the modular code that is essentially orphaned, so that
when reading the driver there is no doubt it is builtin-only.

Since module_init translates to device_initcall in the non-modular
case, the init ordering remains unchanged with this commit.

We don't replace module.h with init.h since the file already has that.

Also note that MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE is a no-op for non-modular code.

Pull IPMI updates from Corey Minyard:
 "Most of these have been sitting in linux-next for more than a release,
  particularly commit 0fbcf4af7c ("ipmi: Convert the IPMI SI ACPI
  handling to a platform device") which is probably the most complex
  patch.

  That is also the one that changes drivers/acpi/acpi_pnp.c. The change
  in that file is only removing IPMI from a "special platform devices"
  list, since I convert it to the standard PNP interface. I posted this
  one to the ACPI list twice and got no response, and it seems to work
  well in my testing, so I'm hoping it's good.

  Hidehiro Kawai posted a set of changes that improves the panic time
  handling in the IPMI driver.

  The rest of the changes are minor bug fixes or cleanups and some
  documentation"

d08828973d ipmi: Compensate for BMCs that wont set the irq enable bit
It appears that some BMCs support interrupts but don't support setting

factors out the common code into other functions.

c49c097610 ipmi: Don't call receive handler in the panic context
Received handlers defined as ipmi_recv_hndl member of struct
ipmi_user_hndl can take a spinlock. This means that if the kernel
panics while holding the lock, a deadlock may happen on the lock
while flushing queued messages in the panic context.

Calling the receive handler doesn't make much meanings in the panic
context, simply skip it to avoid possible deadlocks.

06e5e345fe ipmi: Avoid touching possible corrupted lists in the panic context
When processing queued messages in the panic context, IPMI driver
tries to do it without any locking to avoid deadlocks. However,
this means we can touch a corrupted list if the kernel panicked
while manipulating the list. Fortunately, current `add-tail and
del-from-head' style implementation won't touch the corrupted part,
but it is inherently risky.

To get rid of the risk, this patch re-initializes the message lists
on panic if the related spinlock has already been acquired. As the
result, we may lose queued messages, but it's not so painful.
Dropping messages on the received message list is also less
problematic because no one can respond the received messages.

82802f968b ipmi: Don't flush messages in sender() in run-to-completion mode
When flushing queued messages in run-to-completion mode,
smi_event_handler() is recursively called.

flush_messages()
 smi_event_handler()
  handle_transaction_done()
   deliver_recv_msg()
    ipmi_smi_msg_received()
     smi_recv_tasklet()
      sender()
       flush_messages()
        smi_event_handler()
         ...

The depth of the recursive call depends on the number of queued
messages, so it can cause a stack overflow if many messages have
been queued.

To solve this problem, this patch removes flush_messages()
from sender()@ipmi_si_intf.c. Instead, add flush_messages() to
caller side of sender() if needed. Additionally, to implement this,
add new handler flush_messages to struct ipmi_smi_handlers.

If the OPAL call to receive the ipmi message fails, then we free up the

0fbcf4af7c ipmi: Convert the IPMI SI ACPI handling to a platform device
The IPMI SI driver was using direct PNP, but that was not really
ideal because the IPMI device is a platform device. There was
some special handling in the acpi_pnp.c code for making this work,
but that was breaking ACPI handling for the IPMI SSIF driver.

So without this patch there were significant issues getting the
SSIF driver to work with ACPI.

So use a platform device for ACPI detection and remove the
entry from acpi_pnp.c.

ca6e440577 Merge tag 'drm-intel-fixes-2015-07-15' into drm-intel-next-queued
Backmerge fixes since it's getting out of hand again with the massive
split due to atomic between -next and 4.2-rc. All the bugfixes in
4.2-rc are addressed already (by converting more towards atomic
instead of minimal duct-tape) so just always pick the version in next
for the conflicts in modeset code.

All the other conflicts are just adjacent lines changed.

b371616b85 tpm, tpm_crb: fail when TPM2 ACPI table contents look corrupted
At least some versions of AMI BIOS have corrupted contents in the TPM2
ACPI table and namely the physical address of the control area is set to
zero.

This patch changes the driver to fail gracefully when we observe a zero
address instead of continuing to ioremap.

ba0ef85479 tpm: Fix initialization of the cdev
When a cdev is contained in a dynamic structure the cdev parent kobj
should be set to the kobj that controls the lifetime of the enclosing
structure. In TPM's case this is the embedded struct device.

Also, cdev_init 0's the whole structure, so all sets must be after,
not before. This fixes module ref counting and cdev.

02201e3f1b Minor merge needed, due to function move.
Main excitement here is Peter Zijlstra's lockless rbtree optimization to
 speed module address lookup. He found some abusers of the module lock
 doing that too.

 A little bit of parameter work here too; including Dan Streetman's breaking
 up the big param mutex so writing a parameter can load another module (yeah,
 really). Unfortunately that broke the usual suspects, !CONFIG_MODULES and
 !CONFIG_SYSFS, so those fixes were appended too.

 Cheers,
 Rusty.

205a525c33 random: Add callback API for random pool readiness
The get_blocking_random_bytes API is broken because the wait can
be arbitrarily long (potentially forever) so there is no safe way
of calling it from within the kernel.

This patch replaces it with a callback API instead. The callback
is invoked potentially from interrupt context so the user needs
to schedule their own work thread if necessary.

In addition to adding callbacks, they can also be removed as
otherwise this opens up a way for user-space to allocate kernel
memory with no bound (by opening algif_rng descriptors and then
closing them).

66114cad64 writeback: separate out include/linux/backing-dev-defs.h
With the planned cgroup writeback support, backing-dev related
declarations will be more widely used across block and cgroup;
unfortunately, including backing-dev.h from include/linux/blkdev.h
makes cyclic include dependency quite likely.

This patch separates out backing-dev-defs.h which only has the
essential definitions and updates blkdev.h to include it. c files
which need access to more backing-dev details now include
backing-dev.h directly. This takes backing-dev.h off the common
include dependency chain making it a lot easier to use it across block
and cgroup.

b575f7124a char: misc: restore MISC_DYNAMIC_MINOR on device_create() failure
On attempt to register a dynamic minor misc device its minor number is
updated to a virtual minor number prior to device_create() call,
however on error path misc->minor == MISC_DYNAMIC_MINOR is not
restored.

Following the rule of thumb that a function returning an error must
not change the state of the caller, assign MISC_DYNAMIC_MINOR back.

The problem is met in a sutuation, when subsys_initcall(misc_init) is
not yet called and misc_class is not created, but misc_register()
modifies statically defined ".minor = MISC_DYNAMIC_MINOR", therefore
implicitly changing the client's logic on next attempt (e.g. retrying
from deferred list) to register a misc device, whose minor number is
converted from dynamic to some unknown static one.

9c27847dda kernel/params: constify struct kernel_param_ops uses
Most code already uses consts for the struct kernel_param_ops,
sweep the kernel for the last offending stragglers. Other than
include/linux/moduleparam.h and kernel/params.c all other changes

conflicts between trees can be handled with Coccinelle.

In the future git could get Coccinelle merge support to deal with

automatically for us on patches where the grammar is available and
the patch is of high confidence. Consider this a feature request.

ccc9d90a9a xenbus_client: Extend interface to support multi-page ring
Originally Xen PV drivers only use single-page ring to pass along
information. This might limit the throughput between frontend and
backend.

The patch extends Xenbus driver to support multi-page ring, which in
general should improve throughput if ring is the bottleneck. Changes to
various frontend / backend to adapt to the new interface are also
included.

Affected Xen drivers:
* blkfront/back
* netfront/back
* pcifront/back
* scsifront/back
* vtpmfront

The interface is documented, as before, in xenbus_client.c.

Pull power management and ACPI updates from Rafael Wysocki:
 "These are mostly fixes and cleanups all over, although there are a few
  items that sort of fall into the new feature category.

  First off, we have new callbacks for PM domains that should help us to
  handle some issues related to device initialization in a better way.

  There also is some consolidation in the unified device properties API
  area allowing us to use that inferface for accessing data coming from
  platform initialization code in addition to firmware-provided data.

  We have some new device/CPU IDs in a few drivers, support for new

127af88285 char: xillybus: Don't return -EFAULT on user-triggered flush
The API allows the application to flush a host-to-FPGA stream by calling
write() with the data count set to zero. Before this patch, copy_from_user()
was called with a non-zero byte count, which possibly made it attempt to read
from unmapped user memory. Such attempts caused the driver to return -EFAULT
instead of 0, even though the desired operation went through fine.

This patch ensures the driver returns 0 on a successful flush.

0b509d8d33 misc: pass miscdevice through file's private_data
Make the miscdevice accessible through the file's private_data.

Previously, this was done only when an open() file operation had been
registered. If no custom open() file operation was defined,
private_data was set to NULL.

This subtle quirk was confusing, to the point where kernel code
registered *empty* file open operations to have private_data point to
the misc device structure and avoid duplicating that logic.

And it could easily lead to bugs, where the addition or removal of a
custom open() file operation surprisingly changes the initial value of
a file's private_data structure.

To resolve this, we now place the miscdevice in the file's private_data
member unconditionally when open() is called.

34d47b6322 tpm: fix: sanitized code paths in tpm_chip_register()
I started to work with PPI interface so that it would be available
under character device sysfs directory and realized that chip
registeration was still too messy.

In TPM 1.x in some rare scenarios (errors that almost never occur)
wrong order in deinitialization steps was taken in teardown. I
reproduced these scenarios by manually inserting error codes in the
place of the corresponding function calls.

The key problem is that the teardown is messy with two separate code
paths (this was inherited when moving code from tpm-interface.c).

Moved TPM 1.x specific register/unregister functionality to own helper
functions and added single code path for teardown in tpm_chip_register().
Now the code paths have been fixed and it should be easier to review
later on this part of the code.

656d7e7ee3 hwrng: omap - Change RNG_CONFIG_REG to RNG_CONTROL_REG in init
omap4_rng_init() checks bit 10 of the RNG_CONFIG_REG to determine whether

1a5addfe82 hwrng: omap - Change RNG_CONFIG_REG to RNG_CONTROL_REG when checking and disabling TRNG
In omap4_rng_init(), a check of bit 10 of the RNG_CONFIG_REG is done to determine
whether the RNG is running. This is suspicious firstly due to the use of
RNG_CONTROL_ENABLE_TRNG_MASK and secondly because the same mask is written to
RNG_CONTROL_REG after configuration of the FROs. Similar suspicious logic is
repeated in omap4_rng_cleanup() when RNG_CONTROL_REG masked with
RNG_CONTROL_ENABLE_TRNG_MASK is read, the same mask bit is cleared, and then
written to RNG_CONFIG_REG. Unless the TRNG is enabled with one bit in RNG_CONTROL
and disabled with another in RNG_CONFIG and these bits are mirrored in some way,
I believe that the TRNG is not really shutting off.

Apart from the strange logic, I have reason to suspect that the OMAP4 related
code in this driver is driving an Inside Secure IP hardware RNG and strongly
suspect that bit 10 of RNG_CONFIG_REG is one of the bits configuring the
sampling rate of the FROs. This option is by default set to 0 and is not being
set anywhere in omap-rng.c. Reading this bit during omap4_rng_init() will
always return 0. It will remain 0 because ~(value of TRNG_MASK in control) will
always be 0, because the TRNG is never shut off. This is of course presuming
that the OMAP4 features the Inside Secure IP.

I'm interested in knowing what the guys at TI think about this, as only they
can confirm or deny the detailed structure of these registers.

eb71f8a5e3 Added Little Endian support to vtpm module
The tpm_ibmvtpm module is affected by an unaligned access problem.
ibmvtpm_crq_get_version failed with rc=-4 during boot when vTPM is
enabled in Power partition, which supports both little endian and
big endian modes.

We added little endian support to fix this problem:
1) added cpu_to_be64 calls to ensure BE data is sent from an LE OS.
2) added be16_to_cpu and be32_to_cpu calls to make sure data received
   is in LE format on a LE OS.

74d6b3ceaa tpm: fix suspend/resume paths for TPM 2.0
Fixed suspend/resume paths for TPM 2.0 and consolidated all the
associated code to the tpm_pm_suspend() and tpm_pm_resume()
functions. Resume path should be handled by the firmware, i.e.
Startup(CLEAR) for hibernate and Startup(STATE) for suspend.

There might be some non-PC embedded devices in the future where
Startup() is not the handled by the FW but fixing the code for
those IMHO should be postponed until there is hardware available
to test the fixes although extra Startup in the driver code is
essentially a NOP.

Added Shutdown(CLEAR) to the remove paths of TIS and CRB drivers.
Changed tpm2_shutdown() to a void function because there isn't
much you can do except print an error message if this fails with
a system error.

Fixes: aec04cbdf7 ("tpm: TPM 2.0 FIFO Interface")
Fixes: 30fc8d138e ("tpm: TPM 2.0 CRB Interface")
[phuewe: both did send TPM_Shutdown on resume which 'disables' the TPM
and did not send TPM2_Shutdown on teardown which leads some TPM2.0 to
believe there was an attack (no TPM2_Shutdown = no orderly shutdown =
attack)]

Pull ACPI and power management updates from Rafael Wysocki:
 "We have a few new features this time, including a new SFI-based
  cpufreq driver, a new devfreq driver for Tegra Activity Monitor, a new
  devfreq class for providing its governors with raw utilization data
  and a new ACPI driver for AMD SoCs.

  Still, the majority of changes here are reworks of existing code to
  make it more straightforward or to prepare it for implementing new
  features on top of it. The primary example is the rework of ACPI
  resources handling from Jiang Liu, Thomas Gleixner and Lv Zheng with
  support for IOAPIC hotplug implemented on top of it, but there is
  quite a number of changes of this kind in the cpufreq core, ACPICA,
  ACPI EC driver, ACPI processor driver and the generic power domains

  The most active developer is Viresh Kumar with his cpufreq changes.

  Specifics:

19acc77a36 random: Fix fast_mix() function
There was a bad typo in commit 43759d4f42 ("random: use an improved
fast_mix() function") and I didn't notice because it "looked right", so
I saw what I expected to see when I reviewed it.

Only months later did I look and notice it's not the Threefish-inspired
mix function that I had designed and optimized.

Mea Culpa. Each input bit still has a chance to affect each output bit,
and the fast pool is spilled *long* before it fills, so it's not a total
disaster, but it's definitely not the intended great improvement.

I'm still working on finding better rotation constants. These are good
enough, but since it's unrolled twice, it's possible to get better
mixing for free by using eight different constants rather than repeating
the same four.

983d308cb8 agp/intel: Serialise after GTT updates
An interesting bug occurs on Pineview through which the root cause is
that the writes of the PTE values into the GTT is not serialised with
subsequent memory access through the GTT (when using WC updates of the
PTE values). This is despite there being a posting read after the GTT
update. However, by changing the address of the posting read, the memory
access is indeed serialised correctly.

Whilst we are manipulating the memory barriers, we can remove the
compiler :memory restraint on the intermediate PTE writes knowing that
we explicitly perform a posting read afterwards.

v2: Replace posting reads with explicit write memory barriers - in
particular this is advantages in case of single page objects. Update
comments to mention this issue is only with WC writes.

a45de93eb1 ACPICA: Resources: Provide common part for struct acpi_resource_address structures.
struct acpi_resource_address and struct acpi_resource_extended_address64 share substracts
just at different offsets. To unify the parsing functions, OSPMs like Linux
need a new ACPI_ADDRESS64_ATTRIBUTE as their substructs, so they can
extract the shared data.

This patch also synchronizes the structure changes to the Linux kernel.
The usages are searched by matching the following keywords:
1. acpi_resource_address
2. acpi_resource_extended_address
3. ACPI_RESOURCE_TYPE_ADDRESS
4. ACPI_RESOURCE_TYPE_EXTENDED_ADDRESS
And we found and fixed the usages in the following files:

b4caecd480 fs: introduce f_op->mmap_capabilities for nommu mmap support
Since "BDI: Provide backing device capability information [try #3]" the
backing_dev_info structure also provides flags for the kind of mmap
operation available in a nommu environment, which is entirely unrelated
to it's original purpose.

Introduce a new nommu-only file operation to provide this information to
the nommu mmap code instead. Splitting this from the backing_dev_info
structure allows to remove lots of backing_dev_info instance that aren't
otherwise needed, and entirely gets rid of the concept of providing a
backing_dev_info for a character device. It also removes the need for
the mtd_inodefs filesystem.

Detect TPM 2.0 by sending idempotent TPM 2.x command. Ordinals for

what the spec says.

Before TPM family is detected, timeouts are set to the maximum values

Only polling and single locality is supported as these are the limitations
of the available hardware, Platform Trust Techonlogy (PTT) in Haswell

The driver always applies CRB with ACPI start because PTT reports using
only ACPI start as start method but as a result of my testing it requires
also CRB start.

7a1d7e6dd7 tpm: TPM 2.0 baseline support
TPM 2.0 devices are separated by adding a field 'flags' to struct
tpm_chip and defining a flag TPM_CHIP_FLAG_TPM2 for tagging them.

This patch adds the following internal functions:

- tpm2_get_random()
- tpm2_get_tpm_pt()
- tpm2_pcr_extend()
- tpm2_pcr_read()
- tpm2_startup()

Additionally, the following exported functions are implemented for
implementing TPM 2.0 device drivers:

- tpm2_do_selftest()
- tpm2_calc_ordinal_durations()
- tpm2_gen_interrupt()

The existing functions that are exported for the use for existing
subsystems have been changed to check the flags field in struct
tpm_chip and use appropriate TPM 2.0 counterpart if
TPM_CHIP_FLAG_TPM2 is est.

The code for tpm2_calc_ordinal_duration() and tpm2_startup() were
originally written by Will Arthur.

313d21eeab tpm: device class for tpm
Added own device class for TPM. Uses MISC_MAJOR:TPM_MINOR for the
first character device in order to retain backwards compatibility.
Added tpm_dev_release() back attached to the character device.

I've been running this code now for a while on my laptop (Lenovo
T430S) TrouSerS works perfectly without modifications. I don't
believe it breaks anything significantly.

The sysfs attributes that have been placed under the wrong place
and are against sysfs-rules.txt should be probably left to
stagnate under platform device directory and start defining
new sysfs attributes to the char device directory.

Guidelines for future TPM sysfs attributes should be probably
along the lines of

- Single flat set of mandatory sysfs attributes. For example,
  current PPI interface is way way too rich when you only want
  to use it to clear and activate the TPM.

- Define sysfs attribute if and only if there's no way to get
  the value from ring-3. No attributes for TPM properties. It's
  just unnecessary maintenance hurdle that we don't want.

afb5abc262 tpm: two-phase chip management functions
tpm_register_hardware() and tpm_remove_hardware() are called often
before initializing the device. The problem is that the device might
not be fully initialized when it comes visible to the user space.

This patch resolves the issue by diving initialization into two
parts:

- tpmm_chip_alloc() creates struct tpm_chip.

- tpm_chip_register() sets up the character device and sysfs
  attributes.

The framework takes care of freeing struct tpm_chip by using the devres
API. The broken release callback has been wiped. ACPI drivers do not
ever get this callback.

Regards to Jason Gunthorpe for carefully reviewing this part of the
code.
