987a6c0298 Input: switch to input_abs_*() access functions
Change all call sites in drivers/input to not access the ABS axis

Also use input_set_abs_params() when possible.
Did some code refactoring as I was on it.

0d87c7228a Input: adp5588-keypad - fix NULL dereference in adp5588_gpio_add()
The kpad structure is assigned to i2c client via i2s_set_clientdata()
at the end of adp5588_probe(), but in adp5588_gpio_add() we tried to
access it (via dev_get_drvdata! which is not nice at all) causing an
oops.

Let's pass pointer to kpad directly into adp5588_gpio_add() and
adp5588_gpio_remove() to avoid accessing driver data before it is
set up.

Also split out building of gpiomap into a separate function to
clear the logic.

3fea60261e Input: twl40300-keypad - fix handling of "all ground" rows
The Nokia RX51 board code (arch/arm/mach-omap2/board-rx51-peripherals.c)
defines a key map for the matrix keypad keyboard. The hardware seems to
use all of the 8 rows and 8 columns of the keypad, although not all
possible locations are used.

The TWL4030 supports keypads with at most 8 rows and 8 columns. Most keys
are defined with a row and column number between 0 and 7, except

        KEY(0xff, 2, KEY_F9),
        KEY(0xff, 4, KEY_F10),
        KEY(0xff, 5, KEY_F11),

which represent keycodes that should be emitted when entire row is
connected to the ground. since the driver handles this case as if we
had an extra column in the key matrix. Unfortunately we do not allocate
enough space and end up owerwriting some random memory.

A column or row configured as a GPI can be programmed to be part

fbae3fb154 i2c: Remove all i2c_set_clientdata(client, NULL) in drivers
I2C drivers can use the clientdata-pointer to point to private data. As I2C
devices are not really unregistered, but merely detached from their driver, it
used to be the drivers obligation to clear this pointer during remove() or a
failed probe(). As a couple of drivers forgot to do this, it was agreed that it
was cleaner if the i2c-core does this clearance when appropriate, as there is
no guarantee for the lifetime of the clientdata-pointer after remove() anyhow.
This feature was added to the core with commit
e4a7b9b04d to fix the faulty drivers.

As there is no need anymore to clear the clientdata-pointer, remove all current
occurrences in the drivers to simplify the code and prevent confusion.

9d32c30542 Input: matrix_keypad - allow platform to disable key autorepeat
In an embedded system the matrix_keypad driver might be used to
interface with an external control panel and not an actual keyboard.
On the control panel some of the keys could be used to turn on/off

operation difficult.

5a0e3ad6af include cleanup: Update gfp.h and slab.h includes to prepare for breaking implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h
percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being
included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which
in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files
universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies.

percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for
this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those
headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion
needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is
used as the basis of conversion.

  http://userweb.kernel.org/~tj/misc/slabh-sweep.py

The script does the followings.

* Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that
  only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used,
  gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h.

* When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include
  blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms
  to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains
  core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered -
  alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there
  doesn't seem to be any matching order.

* If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly
  because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out
  an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the
  file.

The conversion was done in the following steps.

1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly
   over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h
   and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400
   files.

2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion,
   some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or
   embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added
   inclusions to around 150 files.

3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits
   from #2 to make sure no file was left behind.

4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed.
   e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab
   APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually.

5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically
   editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h
   files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h
   inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually
   wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each
   slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as
   necessary.

6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h.

7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures
   were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my
   distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few
   more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things
   build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq).

   * x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config.
   * powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig
   * sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig
   * ia64 SMP allmodconfig
   * s390 SMP allmodconfig
   * alpha SMP allmodconfig
   * um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig

8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as
   a separate patch and serve as bisection point.

Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step
6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch.
If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch
headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of
the specific arch.

9e3af04f87 Input: gpio-keys - add support for disabling gpios through sysfs
Now gpio-keys input driver exports 4 new attributes to userland through
sysfs:
	/sys/devices/platform/gpio-keys/keys [ro]
	/sys/devices/platform/gpio-keys/switches [ro]
	/sys/devices/platform/gpio-keys/disabled_keys [rw]
	/sys/devices/platform/gpio-keys/disables_switches [rw]

With these attributes, userland program can read which keys and
switches can be disabled and then disable/enable them as needed.
Keys and switches are exported as stringified bitmap of codes
(keycodes or switch codes). For example keys 15, 89, 100, 101,
102 are exported as: '15,89,100-102'.

Description of the attributes:
	keys - bitmap of keys which can be disabled
	switches - bitmap of switches which can be disabled
	disabled_keys - bitmap of currently disabled keys
			(bit 1 means disabled, 0 enabled)
	disabled_switches - bitmap of currently disabled switches
			(bit 1 means disabled, 0 enabled)

76cdc083f4 Input: add imx-keypad driver to support the IMX Keypad Port
The IMX family of Application Processors is shipped with a Keypad Port
supported by this driver.

The peripheral can control up to an 8x8 matrix key pad where all the
scanning is done via software. The hardware provides two interrupts:
one for key presses (KDI) and one for all key releases (KRI). There is
also a simple circuit for glitch reduction (said for synchronization)
made by two series of 3 D-latches clocked by the keypad-clock that
stabilize the interrupts sources. KDI and KRI are fired only if the
respective conditions are maintained for at last 4 keypad-clock cycle.

Since those circuits are poor for a correct debounce process (the
keypad-clock frequency is 32K and bounces longer than 94us are not
masked) the driver, when an interrupt arrives, samples the matrix
with a period of 10ms until the readins are stable for
IMX_KEYPAD_SCANS_FOR_STABILITY times (currently set at 3). After
getting stable result appropriate events are sent through the input
stack.

If some keys are maintained pressed, the driver continues to scan
the matrix with a longer period (60ms) to catch possible multiple
key presses without overloading the cpu. This process ends when all
keys are released.

This driver is tested to build in kernel or as a module and follow
the specification of Freescale Application processors:
i.MX25 i.MX27 i.MX31 i.MX35 i.MX51 especially tested on i.MX31.

59b015133c Input: serio - fix potential deadlock when unbinding drivers
sysfs_remove_group() waits for sysfs attributes to be removed, therefore
we do not need to worry about driver-specific attributes being accessed
after driver has been detached from the device. In fact, attempts to take
serio->drv_mutex in attribute methods may lead to the following deadlock:

                                          sysfs_read_file()
                                            fill_read_buffer()
                                              sysfs_get_active_two()
                                                psmouse_attr_show_helper()
                                                  serio_pin_driver()
serio_disconnect_driver()
  mutex_lock(&serio->drv_mutex);
                                <-------->        mutex_lock(&serio_drv_mutex);
    psmouse_disconnect()
      sysfs_remove_group(... psmouse_attr_group);
        ....
        sysfs_deactivate();
          wait_for_completion();

Fix this by removing calls to serio_[un]pin_driver() and functions themselves
and using driver-private mutexes to serialize access to attribute's set()
methods that may change device state.

94dfb0d633 Input: atkbd - postpone restoring LED/repeat rate at resume
We need to postpone restoring LED state and typematic settings until
keyboard is finished reconnecting upon resume. Normally driver core
and PM infrastructure takes care of proper ordering and dependencies,
but or case actual reconnect is done asynchronously from kseriod.
So while driver core thinks that keyboard was resumed and it is time
to let input core run it's resume handlers in reality keyboard is not
ready yet. The solution is to keep rescheduling work that adjusts LED
and rate settings until keyboard is fully enabled.

bab7614d6d Input: add support for generic GPIO-based matrix keypad
Original patch by Marek Vasut, modified by Eric in:

1. use delayed work to simplify the debouncing
2. combine col_polarity/row_polarity into a single active_low field
3. use a generic bit array based XOR algorithm to detect key
   press/release, which should make the column assertion time
   shorter and code a bit cleaner
4. remove the ALT_FN handling, which is no way generic, the ALT_FN
   key should be treated as no different from other keys, and
   translation will be done by user space by commands like 'loadkeys'.
5. explicitly disable row IRQs and flush potential pending work,
   and schedule an immediate scan after resuming as suggested
   by Uli Luckas
6. incorporate review comments from many others

Patch tested on Littleton/PXA310 (though PXA310 has a dedicate keypad
controller, I have to configure those pins as generic GPIO to use this
driver, works quite well, though), and Sharp Zaurus model SL-C7x0
and SL-C1000.

On parisc machines, which don't have HIL, removing the hilkbd module
panics the kernel. Fix this by adding proper implementations for the

Disable the MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE() macro on parisc since the kernel

b233b28eac sh: maple: Support block reads and writes.
This patch updates the maple bus to support asynchronous block reads
and writes as well as generally improving the quality of the code and
supporting concurrency (all needed to support the Dreamcast visual
memory unit - a driver will also be posted for that).

Changes in the bus driver necessitate some changes in the two maple bus
input drivers that are currently in mainline.

As well as supporting block reads and writes this code clean up removes
some poor handling of locks, uses an atomic status variable to serialise
access to devices and more robusly handles the general performance
problems of the bus.

d6d79a785d Input: atkbd - cancel delayed work before freeing its structure
Pointed out by Oleg Nesterov. Since delayed work is used here, use of
flush_scheduled_work() is not sufficient in atkbd_disconnect(). It does
not wait for scheduled delayed work to finish. This patch prevents
delayed work to be processed after freeing atkbd structure (used struct
delayed_work is part of atkbd) by cancelling this delayed work.

93a22f8b95 omap drivers: switch to standard GPIO calls
This updates most of the OMAP drivers which are in mainline to switch to
using the cross-platform GPIO calls instead of the older OMAP-specific
ones.

This is all fairly brainless/obvious stuff. Probably the most interesting
bit is to observe that the omap-keypad code seems to now have a portable
core that could work with non-OMAP matrix keypads. (That would improve
with hardware IRQ debouncing enabled, of course...)

Currently, only one debounce_interval is introduced for both direct and

   I/O memory range), and make it possible to remove those registers

0a938b9768 [PATCH] add CONFIG_GENERIC_GPIO
Most drivers using GPIOs already know they are running on a system that
supports the generic GPIO calls, because of other platform dependencies.
But the generic GPIO-based LED and input button drivers can't know that.

So this patch adds a Kconfig hook, GENERIC_GPIO, to mark the platforms
where <asm/gpio.h> will do the right thing. Currently that's a bunch of
ARMs, and AVR32; more are on the way.

It also fixes a dependency bug for the gpio button input driver; it was
wrong to start with, now it covers all platforms with GENERIC_GPIO.

The keyboard is connected via GPIOs to the processor, and scanned
using a column sample register. The hardware provides no debouncing
mechanism, so the state of the keys is read KBDSCAN_STABLE_COUNT

The status of the keys needs to be polled because there is no
interrupt hooked to the lines. A workqueue is used for this.

65f27f3844 WorkStruct: Pass the work_struct pointer instead of context data
Pass the work_struct pointer to the work function rather than context data.
The work function can use container_of() to work out the data.

For the cases where the container of the work_struct may go away the moment the
pending bit is cleared, it is made possible to defer the release of the
structure by deferring the clearing of the pending bit.

To make this work, an extra flag is introduced into the management side of the
work_struct. This governs auto-release of the structure upon execution.

Ordinarily, the work queue executor would release the work_struct for further
scheduling or deallocation by clearing the pending bit prior to jumping to the
work function. This means that, unless the driver makes some guarantee itself
that the work_struct won't go away, the work function may not access anything
else in the work_struct or its container lest they be deallocated.. This is a
problem if the auxiliary data is taken away (as done by the last patch).

However, if the pending bit is *not* cleared before jumping to the work
function, then the work function *may* access the work_struct and its container
with no problems. But then the work function must itself release the
work_struct by calling work_release().

In most cases, automatic release is fine, so this is the default. Special
initiators exist for the non-auto-release case (ending in _NAR).

36bd262b3f [ARM] Fix Zaurii keyboard/touchscreen drivers
The Zaurii drivers were partially fixed up for the IRQ register
changes, but unfortunately missed some bits, resulting in build
errors.  Fix these.

7d12e780e0 IRQ: Maintain regs pointer globally rather than passing to IRQ handlers
Maintain a per-CPU global "struct pt_regs *" variable which can be used instead
of passing regs around manually through all ~1800 interrupt handlers in the
Linux kernel.

The regs pointer is used in few places, but it potentially costs both stack
space and code to pass it around. On the FRV arch, removing the regs parameter
from all the genirq function results in a 20% speed up of the IRQ exit path
(ie: from leaving timer_interrupt() to leaving do_IRQ()).

Where appropriate, an arch may override the generic storage facility and do
something different with the variable. On FRV, for instance, the address is
maintained in GR28 at all times inside the kernel as part of general exception
handling.

Having looked over the code, it appears that the parameter may be handed down
through up to twenty or so layers of functions. Consider a USB character
device attached to a USB hub, attached to a USB controller that posts its
interrupts through a cascaded auxiliary interrupt controller. A character
device driver may want to pass regs to the sysrq handler through the input
layer which adds another few layers of parameter passing.

I've build this code with allyesconfig for x86_64 and i386. I've runtested the
main part of the code on FRV and i386, though I can't test most of the drivers.
I've also done partial conversion for powerpc and MIPS - these at least compile
with minimal configurations.

This will affect all archs. Mostly the changes should be relatively easy.
Take do_IRQ(), store the regs pointer at the beginning, saving the old one:

	struct pt_regs *old_regs = set_irq_regs(regs);

And put the old one back at the end:

	set_irq_regs(old_regs);

Don't pass regs through to generic_handle_irq() or __do_IRQ().

In timer_interrupt(), this sort of change will be necessary:

	-	update_process_times(user_mode(regs));
	-	profile_tick(CPU_PROFILING, regs);
	+	update_process_times(user_mode(get_irq_regs()));
	+	profile_tick(CPU_PROFILING);

I'd like to move update_process_times()'s use of get_irq_regs() into itself,
except that i386, alone of the archs, uses something other than user_mode().

Some notes on the interrupt handling in the drivers:

 (*) input_dev() is now gone entirely. The regs pointer is no longer stored in
     the input_dev struct.

 (*) finish_unlinks() in drivers/usb/host/ohci-q.c needs checking. It does
     something different depending on whether it's been supplied with a regs
     pointer or not.

 (*) Various IRQ handler function pointers have been moved to type
     irq_handler_t.
