removed from board quirk. Introduce "tgl_rt5682_def" board to reduce
the number of tgl board configs.

With the change in the widget free logic to power down the cores only
when the scheduler widgets are freed, we need to ensure that the
scheduler widget is freed only after all the widgets associated with the
scheduler are freed. This is to ensure that the secondary core that the
scheduler is scheduled to run on is kept powered on until all widgets
that need them are in use. While this works well for dynamic pipelines,
in the case of static pipelines the current logic does not take this into
account and frees all widgets in the order they occur in the
widget_list. So, modify this to ensure that the scheduler widgets are freed
only after all other types of widgets in the widget_list are freed.

Rewrite the handling of ASP1 TX mixer mux initialization to prevent a
deadlock during component_remove().
The firmware can overwrite the ASP1 TX mixer registers with
system-specific settings. This is mainly for hardware that uses the
ASP as a chip-to-chip link controlled by the firmware. Because of this
the driver cannot know the starting state of the ASP1 mixer muxes until
the firmware has been downloaded and rebooted.
The original workaround for this was to queue a work function from the
dsp_work() job. This work then read the register values (populating the
regmap cache the first time around) and then called
snd_soc_dapm_mux_update_power(). The problem with this is that it was
ultimately triggered by cs35l56_component_probe() queueing dsp_work,
which meant that it would be running in parallel with the rest of the
ASoC component and card initialization. To prevent accessing DAPM before
it was fully initialized the work function took the card mutex. But this
would deadlock if cs35l56_component_remove() was called before the work job
had completed, because ASoC calls component_remove() with the card mutex
held.
This new version removes the work function. Instead the regmap cache and
DAPM mux widgets are initialized the first time any of the associated ALSA
controls is read or written.

Synchronise the headphone ilimit work functions when removing the
component. These can only trigger whilst the headphone is enabled which
shouldn't be possible once the component is removed but the works rely
on the stashed component pointer so they should be shut down before the
code moves on from component remove.

The tascodec_init() of the snd-soc-tas2781-comlib module is called from
snd-soc-tas2781-i2c and snd-hda-scodec-tas2781-i2c modules. It calls
request_firmware_nowait() with parameter THIS_MODULE and a cont/callback
from the latter modules.
The latter modules can be removed while their callbacks are running,
resulting in a general protection failure.
Add module parameter to tascodec_init() so request_firmware_nowait() can
be called with the module of the callback.

These patches fixe various things that were undocumented, unknown or
uncertain when the original driver code was written. And also a few
things that were just bugs.
If the "spk-id-gpios" property is present it points to GPIOs whose
value must be used to select the correct bin file to match the
speakers.
Some manufacturers use multiple sources of speakers, which need
different tunings for best performance. On these models the type of
speaker fitted is indicated by the values of one or more GPIOs. The
number formed by the GPIOs identifies the tuning required.
The speaker ID must be used in combination with the subsystem ID
(either from PCI SSID or cirrus,firmware-uid property), because the
GPIOs can only indicate variants of a specific model.

Check during initialization whether the firmware is already patched.
If so, include the firmware version in the wm_adsp fwf_name string.
If the firmware has already been patched by the BIOS the driver
can only replace it if it has control of hard RESET.
If the driver cannot replace the firmware, it can still load a wmfw
(for ALSA control definitions) and/or a bin (for additional tunings).
But these must match the version of firmware that is running on the
CS35L56.
The firmware is pre-patched if FIRMWARE_MISSING == 0.
Including the firmware version in the fwf_name string will
qualify the firmware file name:
Normal (unpatched or replaceable firmware):
cs35l56-rev-dsp1-misc[-system_name].[wmfw|bin]
Preloaded firmware:
cs35l56-rev[-s]-VVVVVV-dsp1-misc[-system_name].[wmfw|bin]
Where:
[-s] is an optional -s added into the name for a secured CS35L56

Put the silicon revision and secured flag in the wm_adsp fwf_name
string instead of including them in the part string.
This changes the format of the firmware name string from
cs35l56[s]-rev-misc[-system_name]
to
cs35l56-rev[-s]-misc[-system_name]
No firmware files have been published, so this doesn't cause a
compatibility break.
Silicon revision and secured flag are included in the firmware
filename to pick a firmware compatible with the part. These strings
were being added to the part string, but that is a misuse of the
string. The correct place for these is the fwf_name string, which
is specifically intended to select between multiple firmware files
for the same part.
Backport note:
This won't apply to kernels older than v6.6.

Defer initializing the state of the ASP1 mixer registers until
the firmware has been downloaded and rebooted.
On a SoundWire system the ASP is free for use as a chip-to-chip
interconnect. This can be either for the firmware on multiple
CS35L56 to share reference audio; or as a bridge to another
device. If it is a firmware interconnect it is owned by the
firmware and the Linux driver should avoid writing the registers.
However, if it is a bridge then Linux may take over and handle
it as a normal codec-to-codec link. Even if the ASP is used
as a firmware-firmware interconnect it is useful to have
ALSA controls for the ASP mixer. They are at least useful for
debugging.
CS35L56 is designed for SDCA and a generic SDCA driver would
know nothing about these chip-specific registers. So if the
ASP is being used on a SoundWire system the firmware sets up the
ASP mixer registers. This means that we can't assume the default
state of these registers. But we don't know the initial state
that the firmware set them to until after the firmware has been
downloaded and booted, which can take several seconds when
downloading multiple amps.
DAPM normally reads the initial state of mux registers during
probe() but this would mean blocking probe() for several seconds
until the firmware has initialized them. To avoid this, the
mixer muxes are set SND_SOC_NOPM to prevent DAPM trying to read
the register state. Custom get/set callbacks are implemented for
ALSA control access, and these can safely block waiting for the
firmware download.
After the firmware download has completed, the state of the
mux registers is known so a work job is queued to call
snd_soc_dapm_mux_update_power() on each of the mux widgets.

Patch the SDW TX mixer registers to silicon defaults.
CS35L56 is designed for SDCA and a generic SDCA driver would
know nothing about these chip-specific registers. So the
firmware sets up the SDW TX mixer registers to whatever audio
is relevant on a specific system.
This means that the driver cannot assume the initial values
of these registers. But Linux has ALSA controls to configure
routing, so the registers can be patched to silicon default and
the ALSA controls used to select what audio to feed back to the
host capture path.
Backport note:
This won't apply to kernels older than v6.6.

regmap cache.
If the machine driver does not hook up the ASP, it is assumed that
it won't call any functions to configure the ASP DAI. Therefore
the regmap cache will be clean for these registers so a
regcache_sync() will not overwrite the chip registers. If the
DAI is not hooked up, the dummy SUPPLY widget will not be
invoked so it will never force-overwrite the chip registers.

Remove the check of fw_patched from cs35l56_is_fw_reload_needed().
Also remove the redundant check for control of the reset GPIO.
The fw_patched flag is set when cs35l56_dsp_work() has completed its
steps to download firmware and power-up wm_adsp. There was a check in
cs35l56_is_fw_reload_needed() to make a quick exit of 'false' if
!fw_patched. The original idea was that the system might be suspended
before the driver has ever made any attempt to download firmware, and
in that case the driver doesn't need to return to a patched state
because it was never in a patched state.
This check of fw_patched is buggy because it prevented ever recovering
from a failed patch. If a previous attempt to patch and reboot the
silicon had failed it would leave fw_patched==false. This would mean
the driver never attempted another download even though the fault may
have been cleared (by a hard reset, for example).
It is also a redundant check because the calling code already makes
a quick exit if cs35l56_component_probe() has not been called, which
deals with the original intent of this check but in a safer way.
The check for reset GPIO is redundant: if the silicon was hard-reset
the FIRMWARE_MISSING flag will be 1. But this check created an
expectation that the suspend/resume code toggles reset. This can't
easily be protected against accidental code breakage. The only reason
for the check was to skip runtime-resuming the driver to read the
PROTECTION_STATUS register when it already knows it reset the silicon.
But in that case the driver will have to be runtime-resumed to do
the firmware download. So it created an assumption for no benefit.

Move the call to cs35l56_set_patch() earlier in cs35l56_init() so
that it only adds the register patch on first-time initialization.
The call was after the post_soft_reset label, so every time this
function was run to re-initialize the hardware after a reset it would
call regmap_register_patch() and add the same reg_sequence again.

The cs35l56->component pointer is used by the suspend-resume handling to
know whether the driver is fully instantiated. This is to prevent it
queuing dsp_work which would result in calling wm_adsp when the driver
is not an instantiated ASoC component. So this pointer must be cleared
by cs35l56_component_remove().

There's no need to overwrite fwf_name with a kstrdup() of the cs_dsp part
name. It is trivial to select either fwf_name or cs_dsp.part as the string
to use when building the filename in wm_adsp_request_firmware_file().
This leaves fwf_name entirely owned by the codec driver.
It also avoids problems with freeing the pointer. With the original code
fwf_name was either a pointer owned by the codec driver, or a kstrdup()
created by wm_adsp. This meant wm_adsp must free it if it set it, but not
if the codec driver set it. The code was handling this by using
devm_kstrdup().
But there is no absolute requirement that wm_adsp_common_init() must be
called from probe(), so this was a pseudo-memory leak - each new call to
wm_adsp_common_init() would allocate another block of memory but these
would only be freed if the owning codec driver was removed.

Check for the cases of system-specific bin file without a
wmfw before falling back to looking for a generic wmfw.
All system-specific options should be tried before falling
back to loading a generic wmfw/bin. With the original code,
the presence of a fallback generic wmfw on the filesystem
would prevent using a system-specific tuning with a ROM
firmware.

The devm_request_irq() call is done for "dma_rt" interrupt but the error
message printed "dma_tx" interrupt on failure, fix this by updating

This series adds SPDIF controllers for the H616 and H618.
There's also a fix for SPDIF on H6: the controller also has a
receiver that was not correctly modeled.
The SPDIF hardware block found in the H616 SoC has the same layout as
the one found in the H6 SoC, except that it is missing the receiver
side.
Since the driver currently only supports the transmit function, support
for the H616 is identical to what is currently done for the H6.

In the wcd939x codec driver, there are two instances where semicolons
are used after closing braces of a switch-case statement. These
semicolons are not required and do not adhere to the coding style
guidelines.
This patch removes the unnecessary semicolons at the end of the
switch-case statements which cleans up the code and ensures consistency
with the rest of the kernel coding style.

The framer codec interacts with a framer.
It allows to use some of the framer timeslots as audio channels to
transport audio data over the framer E1/T1/J1 lines.
It also reports line carrier detection events through the ALSA jack
detection feature.

To reduce the risk of speaker damage the PA gain needs to be limited on
machines like the Lenovo Thinkpad X13s until we have active speaker
protection in place.
Limit the gain to the current default setting provided by the UCM
configuration which most user have so far been using (due to a bug in
the configuration files which prevented hardware volume control [1]).
The wsa883x PA volume control also turned out to be broken, which meant
that the default setting used by UCM configuration is actually the
lowest level (-3 dB). With the codec driver fixed, hardware volume
control also works as expected.
Note that the new wsa884x driver most likely suffers from a similar bug,
I'll send a fix for that once I've got that confirmed.
Included is also a related fix for the LPASS WSA macro driver, which
was changing the digital gain setting behind the back of user space and
which can result in excessive (or too low) digital gain.
There are further Qualcomm codec drivers that similarly appear to
manipulate various gain settings, but on closer inspection it turns out
that they only write back the current settings. Tests reveal that these
writes are indeed needed for any prior updates to take effect (at least
for the WSA and RX macros).

The UCM configuration for the Lenovo ThinkPad X13s has up until now
been setting the speaker PA volume to the minimum -3 dB when enabling
the speakers, but this does not prevent the user from increasing the
volume further.
Limit the digital gain and PA volumes to a combined -3 dB in the machine
driver to reduce the risk of speaker damage until we have active speaker
protection in place (or higher safe levels have been established).
Note that the PA volume limit cannot be set lower than 0 dB or
PulseAudio gets confused when the first 16 levels all map to -3 dB.
Also note that this will probably need to be generalised using
machine-specific limits, but a common limit should do for now.

This patch series is a continuation of [1] to provide several fixes and
improvements to the SOF drivers targeting the Vangogh platform, as found on
Valve's Steam Deck OLED. The previous series only handled the legacy ACP
drivers.
Also note that, since v2, this patch series requires an updated SOF
topology to provide a correct DAI link ID for the BT codec. The binary
file should be located under:
/usr/lib/firmware/amd/sof-tplg/sof-vangogh-nau8821-max.tplg
Alternatively, as a temporary workaround, patch [2] can be used to adapt
the driver to the broken topology.
Another requirement to get this functional is patch [3] from v1, which has
been dropped from the series to be upstreamed via the SOF development
workflow.

WCD938x sound codec driver ignores return status of getting regulators
and returns EINVAL instead of EPROBE_DEFER. If regulator provider
probes after the codec, system is left without probed audio:

The lowest headphones volume setting does not mute so the leave the TLV
mute flag unset.
This is specifically needed to let the sound server use the lowest gain
setting.

The vendor driver appears to be modifying the gain settings behind the
back of user space but these hacks never made it upstream except for
some essentially dead code that adds a constant zero to the current gain
setting on DAPM events.
Note that the volume registers still need to be written after enabling
clocks in order for any prior updates to take effect.

The LPASS WSA macro codec driver is updating the digital gain settings
behind the back of user space on DAPM events if companding has been
enabled.
As compander control is exported to user space, this can result in the
digital gain setting being incremented (or decremented) every time the
sound server is started and the codec suspended depending on what the
UCM configuration looks like.
Soon enough playback will become distorted (or too quiet).
This is specifically a problem on the Lenovo ThinkPad X13s as this
bypasses the limit for the digital gain setting that has been set by the
machine driver.
Fix this by simply dropping the compander gain offset hack. If someone
cares about modelling the impact of the compander setting this can
possibly be done by exporting it as a volume control later.
Note that the volume registers still need to be written after enabling
clocks in order for any prior updates to take effect.

The PA gain can be set in steps of 1.5 dB from -3 dB to 18 dB, that is,
in 15 levels.
Fix the dB values for the PA volume control as experiments using wsa8835
show that the first 16 levels all map to the same lowest gain while the
last three map to the highest gain.
These values specifically need to be correct for the sound server to
provide proper volume control.
Note that level 0 (-3 dB) does not mute the PA so the mute flag should
also not be set.

We update the values of some registers in the initialization
sequence in es8326_resume function to improve THD+N performance.
THD+N performance decreases if the output level on headphone is
close to full scale. So we change the register setting in
es8326_jack_detect_handler function to improve THD+N performance
if headphone pulgged. Also, the register setting should be restored
when the headset is unplugged

Commit 6c393ebbd7 ("ASoC: SOF: core: Implement IPC version fallback if
firmware files are missing") changed the order of some operations and
the firmware paths are not available anymore at snd_sof_probe() time.
Precisely, fw_filename_prefix is set by sof_select_ipc_and_paths() via
plat_data->fw_filename_prefix = out_profile.fw_path;
but sof_init_environment() which calls this function was moved from
snd_sof_device_probe() to sof_probe_continue(). Moreover,
snd_sof_probe() was moved from sof_probe_continue() to
sof_init_environment(), but before the call to
sof_select_ipc_and_paths().
The problem here is that amd_sof_acp_probe() uses fw_filename_prefix to
compute fw_code_bin and fw_data_bin paths, and because the field is not
yet initialized, the paths end up containing (null):

device to setup a custom firmware loader, which neither requires nor
uses the firmware file indicated via the default_fw_filename member of
struct sof_dev_desc.

According to AMD, a combined ".ri" file which includes the code and data
segments cannot be used due to a limitation preventing the code image to
be signed on build time.
Fix the issue by skipping the firmware file test if a custom loader is

Driver uses kasprintf() to initialize fw_{code,data}_bin members of
struct acp_dev_data, but kfree() is never called to deallocate the
memory, which results in a memory leak.
Fix the issue by switching to devm_kasprintf(). Additionally, ensure the
allocation was successful by checking the pointer validity.

The current MODULE_DESCRIPTION relates to a Chrome board, as that was
what the driver initially supported.
Nonetheless, it has since progressed incrementally and evolved into a
more comprehensive machine driver. Hence, update MODULE_DESCRIPTION to
better reflect this.

Add the main WCD9390/WCD9395 Audio Codec driver to support:
- 4 ADC inputs for up to 5 Analog Microphones
- 4 DMIC inputs for up to 8 Digital Microphones
- 4 Microphone BIAS
- Stereo Headphone output
- Mono EAR output
- MBHC engine for Headset Detection
It makes usage of the generic MBHC and CLSH generic code and
the USB Type-C mux and switch helpers to gather USB-C Events
in order to properly setup Headset Detection mechanism
when connected behind the separate USB-C Mux subsystem.
WCD9390/WCD9395 supports a PCM path for Playback instead
of the actually implemented PDM playback, it will be
implemented later.

When the WCD codec is connected behind an USB-C audio mux,
plug/unplug events, clock control, pull-up and threshold are
different.
Add a typec_analog_mux config enabling those changes and add
two callbacks to trigger plug/unplug events from USB-C events.

Now that the driver core can properly handle constant struct bus_type,
move the i2c_bus_type variable to be a constant structure as well, placing
it into read-only memory which can not be modified at runtime.
Note, the sound/soc/rockchip/rk3399_gru_sound.c also needed tweaking as
it decided to save off a pointer to a bus type for internal stuff, and
it was using the i2c_bus_type as well.

Warnings related to missing data in firmware manifest have
proven to be too verbose. This relates to description of
DSP module cost expressed in cycles per chunk (CPC). If
a matching value is not found in the manifest, kernel will
pass a zero value and DSP firmware will use a conservative
value in its place.
Downgrade the warnings to dev_dbg().

A new drivers/cache/ subsystem is added to contain drivers for abstracting
cache flush methods on riscv and potentially others, as this is needed for
handling non-coherent DMA but several SoCs require nonstandard hardware
methods for it.
op-tee gains support for asynchronous notification with FF-A, as well
as support for a system thread for executing in secure world.

It's not granted that all entries of struct sof_conn_stream declare
a `normal_link` (a non-SOF, direct link) string, and this is the case
for SoCs that support only SOF paths (hence do not support both direct
and SOF usecases).
For example, in the case of MT8188 there is no normal_link string in
any of the sof_conn_stream entries and there will be more drivers
doing that in the future.

Remove the extra 'mt8195-afe-pcm-dai' component, register the DAI
drivers to the main AFE component, and rework the DAI linking between
the headset codec (RT5682/RT5682S) and the TDM interface in the probe
function to stop assigning name, relying on the of_node of the codec.
Also replace the COMP_DUMMY codec entry with a COMP_EMPTY for the
ETDM2_IN and remove it entirely from ETDM1_OUT to fix the registration
flow for this sound card.
While at it, since we also need to swap the codec init function from
ETDM2_IN to ETDM1_OUT, remove the static assignment of both `ops` and
`init` for both, as we now assign these dynamically during probe.

Following commit 13f58267cd ("ASoC: soc.h: don't create dummy
Component via COMP_DUMMY()"), the dai_name field is only populated for
dummy components after the card is registered. This causes a null
pointer dereference in the mt8192-mt6359 sound card driver's probe
function when searching for a dai_name among all the card's dai links.
Verify that the dai_name is non-null before passing it to strcmp. While
at it, also check that there's at least one codec.

To enable TDM mode, the current control flow limits the function
calling order should be 'set_tdm_slot->set_dai_fmt'. But not all
platform sound card like as simeple card to follow this design.

Move tas2563 from tas2562 driver to tas2781 driver to unbind tas2563 from

When a control changes value the return value from _put() should be 1 so

are not providing the correct return value in the latter case, fix this.

The current code flow is:
1. snd_hdac_device_register()
2. set parameters needed by the hdac driver
3. request_codec_module()
the hdac driver is probed at this point
During boot the codec drivers are not loaded when the hdac device is
registered, it is going to be probed later when loading the codec module,
which point the parameters are set.
On module remove/insert
rmmod snd_sof_pci_intel_tgl
modprobe snd_sof_pci_intel_tgl
The codec module remains loaded and the driver will be probed when the
hdac device is created right away, before the parameters for the driver
has been configured:
1. snd_hdac_device_register()
the hdac driver is probed at this point
2. set parameters needed by the hdac driver
3. request_codec_module()
will be a NOP as the module is already loaded
Move the snd_hdac_device_register() later, to be done right before
requesting the codec module to make sure that the parameters are all set
before the device is created:
1. set parameters needed by the hdac driver
2. snd_hdac_device_register()
3. request_codec_module()
This way at the hdac driver probe all parameters will be set in all cases.

AUD_PAD_TOP widget's correct register is AFE_AUD_PAD_TOP , and not zero.
Having a zero as register, it would mean that the `snd_soc_dapm_new_widgets`
would try to read the register at offset zero when trying to get the power
status of this widget, which is incorrect.

There are two problems with using regcache in this module.
The amplifier has 3 addressing levels (BOOK, PAGE, REG). The firmware
contains blocks that must be written to BOOK 0x8C. The regcache doesn't
know anything about BOOK, so regcache_sync writes invalid values to the
actual BOOK.
The module handles 2 or more separate amplifiers. The amplifiers have
different register values, and the module uses only one regmap/regcache
for all the amplifiers. The regcache_sync only writes the last amplifier
used.
The module successfully restores all the written register values (RC
profile, program, configuration, calibration) without regcache.
Remove regcache functions and set regmap cache_type to REGCACHE_NONE.

The sof imx pcm device is a device which should support
double buffering.
Found this issue with pipewire. When there is no
SNDRV_PCM_INFO_BATCH flag in driver, the pipewire will
set headroom to be zero, and because sof pcm device
don't support residue report, when the latency setting
is small, the "delay" always larger than "target" in
alsa-pcm.c, that reading next period data is not
scheduled on time.
With SNDRV_PCM_INFO_BATCH flag in driver, the pipewire
will select a smaller period size for device, then
the task of reading next period data will be scheduled
on time.

The rt5645 codec driver uses DMI quirks to configure the DMIC data-pins,
which means that it knows which DMIC interface is used on a specific
device.
ATM we duplicate this DMI matching inside the UCM profiles to select
the right DMIC interface. Add a rt5645_components() helper which the
machine-driver can use to set the components string of the card so
that UCM can get the info from the components string.
This way we only need to add new DMI quirks in one place.

Refactor rt5645_parse_dt(), make it take a pointer to
struct rt5645_platform_data as argument instead of passing in
the complete rt5645_priv struct.
While at it also make it void since it always succeeds.
This is a preparation patch for factoring the code to get

dmi_platform_data[] first contains a DMI entry matching:
DMI_MATCH(DMI_PRODUCT_NAME, "EF20"),
and then contains an identical entry except for the match being:
DMI_MATCH(DMI_PRODUCT_NAME, "EF20EA"),
Since these are partial (non exact) DMI matches the first match
will also match any board with "EF20EA" in their DMI product-name,
drop the second, redundant, entry.

Even though we already have common asoc_dummy_dlc for dummy
Component / DAI, this macro will re-create new dummy dlc.
Some drivers defines many dai_link info via SND_SOC_DAILINK_DEFS(),
this means many dummy dlc also will be re-created. This is waste of
memory.
If we can use existing common asoc_dummy_dlc at (X),
we can avoid to re-creating dummy dlc, then, we can save the memory.
At that time, we want to keep existing code as much as possible, because
too many drivers are using this macro. But because of its original style,
using common asoc_dummy_dlc from it is very difficult or impossible.

When flag mclk_with_tere and mclk_direction_output enabled,
The SAI transmitter or receiver will be enabled in very early
stage, that if FSL_SAI_xMR is set by previous case,
for example previous case is one channel, current case is
two channels, then current case started with wrong xMR in
the beginning, then channel swap happen.
The patch is to clear xMR in hw_free() to avoid such
channel swap issue.

This fixes a problem introduced while fixing ELD reporting with no jack
set.
Most driver using the hdmi-codec will call the 'plugged_cb' callback
directly when registered to report the initial state of the HDMI connector.
With the commit mentionned, this occurs before jack is ready and the
initial report is lost for platforms actually providing a jack for HDMI.
Fix this by storing the hdmi connector status regardless of jack being set
or not and report the last status when jack gets set.
With this, the initial state is reported correctly even if it is
disconnected. This was not done initially and is also a fix.

Some components like platforms don't have DAIs. If the active count of
these components is ignored pinctrl may be wrongly selected between
default and sleep state. So need to increment or decrement the active
count for components without DAIs to avoid it.

Since commit e89f45edb7 ("ASoC: amd: vangogh: Add check for acp config
flags in vangogh platform"), the Vangogh ACP PCI driver could not be used
anymore for boards which happen to have a matching entry in acp-config
list.
Commit f18818eb0d ("ASoC: amd: vangogh: Add condition check for acp
config flag") slightly changed the behaviour to permit loading the
driver if AMD_LEGACY flag is set. However, for AMD_SOF flag the probing
is still denied, even if SOF support is disabled in kernel
configuration.
While this helps preventing conflicts between SOF and generic ACP
drivers, there are cases where a fallback to the generic non-SOF support
would still be needed or useful, e.g. SOF firmware is not available or
doesn't work properly, SOF driver is broken or doesn't provide full
support for a particular hardware, or simply for testing/debugging the
alternative solution. A real-life example is Steam Deck OLED, which
works with both drivers.
Prevent returning from probe() when ACP config indicates SOF support for
the current board *and* the Vangogh SOF driver is not enabled in kernel
configuration.

The Vangogh machine driver variant based on the MAX98388 amplifier, as
found on Valve's Steam Deck OLED, relies on probing via an ACPI match
table. This worked fine until commit 197b1f7f0d ("ASoC: amd: Add new
dmi entries to config entry") enabled SOF support for the target machine
(i.e. Galileo product), causing the sound card to enter the deferred
probe state indefinitely:

The issue is related to commit e89f45edb7 ("ASoC: amd: vangogh: Add
check for acp config flags in vangogh platform"), which tries to
mitigate potential conflicts between SOF and generic ACP Vangogh
drivers, due to sharing the PCI device IDs.
However, the solution is effective only if the machine driver is
directly probed by pci-acp5x through platform_device_register_full().
Hence, remove the conflicting ACPI based probing and rely exclusively on
DMI quirks for sound card setup.

The Tegra20 AC97 driver is using the legacy GPIO APIs in
<linux/of_gpio.h> and <linux/gpio.h> to obtain GPIOs for reset
and sync.
Convert it over and fix the polarity error on the RESET line
in the process: this reset line is clearly active low. Just
fix the one in-tree device tree site using it at the same
time.

Some BYTCR x86 tablets with a rt5640 codec have the left and right channels
of their speakers swapped.
Add a new BYT_RT5640_SWAPPED_SPEAKERS quirk for this which sets
cfg-spk:swapped in the components string to let userspace know
about the swapping so that the UCM profile can configure the mixer
to correct this.
Enable this new quirk on the Medion Lifetab S10346 which has its
speakers swapped.

In HDLC mode, some status flags related to the data read transfer can be
set by the hardware and need to be known by a QMC consumer for further
analysis.
Extend the API in order to provide these transfer status flags at the
read complete() call.
In TRANSPARENT mode, these flags have no meaning. Keep only one read
complete() API and update the consumers working in transparent mode.
In this case, the newly introduced flags parameter is simply unused.

Whilst occasional current limiting is fine, constant current limiting
should be avoided. Add a back off system that will disable the

Alas on some headsets the bias sense can cause problems with the
type detection. It can occasionally be falsely triggered by the type
detect itself and as the clamp is applied when this happens, it will
cause a headset to be incorrectly identified as headphones. As
such it should be disabled whilst running type detect. This does
mean a jack removal during type detect will cause a larger click
but that is unfortunately unavoidable.

This keeps them consistent with the CS35L56 HDA driver. It also

This converts the remaining Wolfson ASoC codecs to
use GPIO descriptors.
These Wolfson codecs are mostly used with different
Samsung S3C (especially Cragganmore 6410) board files,
so the in-tree users are fixed up in the process.
This converts the WM8996 codec to use GPIO descriptors, an a similar
way to WM5100.
The driver is instantiating a GPIO chip named wm8996, and we get
rid of the base address for the GPIO chip from the platform data and
just use dynamic numbering. Move base and ngpio into the static
gpio_chip template.
Fix up the only in-tree user which is the Cragganmore 6410 module.

This converts the WM5100 codec to use GPIO descriptors, a pretty
straight-forward conversion with the following peculiarities:
- The driver is instantiating a GPIO chip named wm5100, and the
headphone polarity detection GPIO is lifted from there. We add
this to the GPIO descriptor table as well, and we can then get
rid of also the base address for the GPIO chip from the
platform data and just use dynamic numbering.
- Fix up the only in-tree user which is the Cragganmore 6410
module.

This converts the WM1250-EV1 codec to use GPIO descriptors.
It turns out that the platform data was only used to pass some
global GPIO numbers from a board file, so we get rid of this
and also switch over the single in-tree user in the S3C
Cragganmore module for S3C 6410.
The driver obtains two GPIO lines named OSR and master and just
pull them low, we leave this behaviour as it was.

The current code flow is:
1. snd_hdac_device_register()
2. set parameters needed by the hdac driver
3. request_codec_module()
the hdac driver is probed at this point
During boot the codec drivers are not loaded when the hdac device is
registered, it is going to be probed later when loading the codec module,
which point the parameters are set.
On module remove/insert
rmmod snd_sof_pci_intel_tgl
modprobe snd_sof_pci_intel_tgl
The codec module remains loaded and the driver will be probed when the
hdac device is created right away, before the parameters for the driver
has been configured:
1. snd_hdac_device_register()
the hdac driver is probed at this point
2. set parameters needed by the hdac driver
3. request_codec_module()
will be a NOP as the module is already loaded
Move the snd_hdac_device_register() later, to be done right before
requesting the codec module to make sure that the parameters are all set
before the device is created:
1. set parameters needed by the hdac driver
2. snd_hdac_device_register()
3. request_codec_module()
This way at the hdac driver probe all parameters will be set in all cases.

Masks the "DSP Virtual Mailbox 2 write" interrupt when before
issuing the hibernate command to the DSP. The interrupt is
unmasked when exiting runtime suspend as it is required for
DSP operation.
Without this change the DSP fires an interrupt when hibernating
causing the system spin between runtime suspend and runtime
resume.

Make use of the recently introduced EXPORT_GPL_DEV_PM_OPS() macro, to
conditionally export the runtime/system PM functions.
Replace the old SET_{RUNTIME,SYSTEM_SLEEP,NOIRQ_SYSTEM_SLEEP}_PM_OPS()
helpers with their modern alternatives and get rid of the now
unnecessary '__maybe_unused' annotations on all PM functions.

Hookup the CS35L56 DAPM_OUTPUT widgets to a DAPM_SPK widget so
that there is a complete logical path to a speaker.
There is no particular reason to use multiple speaker widgets.
The CS35L56 are designed to work together as a set so they have
all been connected to a single speaker widget.
Instead of a hardcoded list of codec widget names, the code walks
through all the codecs on the dailink and for every cs35l56 it uses
its name prefix to construct the source end of the route. This adds
a small amount of overhead during probe but has the benefit that it
isn't dependent on every system using the same prefixes.

sof_sdw_rt_sdca_jack_exit() are used by different codecs, and some of
them use the same dai name.
For example, rt712 and rt713 both use "rt712-sdca-aif1" and
sof_sdw_rt_sdca_jack_exit().
As a result, sof_sdw_rt_sdca_jack_exit() will be called twice by
mc_dailink_exit_loop(). Set ctx->headset_codec_dev = NULL; after
put_device(ctx->headset_codec_dev); to avoid ctx->headset_codec_dev
being put twice.

Limit the speaker digital gains to 0dB so that the users will not damage them.
Currently there is a limit in UCM, but this does not stop the user form
changing the digital gains from command line. So limit this in driver
which makes the speakers more safer without active speaker protection in
place.
Apart from this there is also a range check fix in snd_soc_limit_volume
to allow setting this limit correctly.
Tested on Lenovo X13s.
This is a test configuration for UpExtreme with Cirrus Logic
CS35L56-EIGHT-C board.
The codec layout is configured as:
- Link3: CS42L43 Jack
- Link0: 2x CS35L56 Speaker (amps 1 and 2)

This takes some of the work done to auto-configure quirks/routing
for ESS83xx codecs by getting the info from ACPI from:
https://github.com/thesofproject/linux/pull/4112
And then builds on top of this to add auto-configuration to
the bytcht_es8316 board driver.
Note compared to the pull-request, which deals with the ES8336, this
series deals with the ES8316 (for which I have several devices to test
on) and this moves handling of the _DSM from the codec driver to
the board driver since with the ES8316 the board driver takes
care of setting up various routes for things like the mic and
speakers.
After this series audio now works properly on a CHT Chuwi Hi12
tablet without needing to add an extra quirk for that model.
This has also been tested on the following devices, where things
are unchanged from before (the ACPI autoconfiguration gives the
same results as the old defaults) :
Onda V80 plus (CHT)
GP-electronic T701 (BYT)
I also tested this on a Nanote UMPC-01, here the _DSM result
for PLATFORM_SPK_TYPE_ARG wrongly returns 1 (mono) while
the device actually has 2 speakers, so this model needs to keep
its DMI quirk.
I don't have an IRBIS NB41 nor a TECLAST X98 Plus II,
so the DMI quirks for those are left in place too on
a better safe then sorry basis.
