The bonding driver piggybacks on time stamps kept by the network stack for the purpose of the netdev TX watchdog, and this is problematic because it does not work with NETIF_F_LLTX devices. It is hard to say why the driver looks at dev_trans_start() of the slave->dev, considering that this is updated even by non-ARP/NS probes sent by us, and even by traffic not sent by us at all (for example PTP on physical slave devices). ARP monitoring in active-backup mode appears to still work even if we track only the last TX time of actual ARP probes. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
