Add a macro and some helper C functions for patching single asm instructions. The gas macro means we can do something like: 1: nop patch_site 1b, patch__foo Which is less visually distracting than defining a GLOBAL symbol at 1, and also doesn't pollute the symbol table which can confuse eg. perf. These are obviously similar to our existing feature sections, but are not automatically patched based on CPU/MMU features, rather they are designed to be manually patched by C code at some arbitrary point. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
