A sequence counter write side critical section must be protected by some form of locking to serialize writers. A plain seqcount_t does not contain the information of which lock must be held when entering a write side critical section. Use the new seqcount_raw_spinlock_t data type, which allows to associate a raw spinlock with the sequence counter. This enables lockdep to verify that the raw spinlock used for writer serialization is held when the write side critical section is entered. If lockdep is disabled this lock association is compiled out and has neither storage size nor runtime overhead. Signed-off-by: Ahmed S. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
