* With the proxy set, I failed to load some websites, while the other websites seem OK
Check the logs of local.py. If you only find IP addresses instead of hostnames, your may be suffering DNS spoofing. Your should configure your browser to let the proxy resolve server names.
To configure DNS properly, you can simply install **ProxySwitchy or SwitchySharp for
Chrome, FoxyProxy or Autoproxy for Firefox**. They will configure your browser automatically.
Or you can change network.proxy.socks_remote_dns into true in about:config page if you use Firefox.
* I can't load any websites, and the log prints `mode != 1`
Make sure proxy protocol is set to Socks5, not Socks4 or HTTP.
* I use IE and I can't get my proxy to work
Since you can't specify Socks4 or Socks5 in IE settings, you may want to use a PAC (Proxy auto-config) script, or
just use Chrome instead.
* (Nodejs version) When I use AES-256-CFB, I got some logs like `unsupported addrtype: 115`.
Upgrade your nodejs to the latest version.
If you have other problems, feel free to post questions to our [mailing list](http://groups.google.com/group/shadowsocks).
When you have problems, follow the steps below to diagnose:
1. Check whether the problem is caused by client or server. Replace your server with public server and check again; replace your client with others like mobile or another client version.
2. Check client logs to see if the client received requests from your browser.
3. Check server logs to see if the server received requests from your client.
4. If the client did not receive any requests, check proxy settings and local firewall.
5. If the server did not receive any requests, check server firewall and use `tcping` to check server port.
6. If the server received requests but your browser got no responses, check the DNS on your server. Change it into `8.8.8.8`, restart your server and test again.
