$tcflags dst_ip 192.0.2.2 ip_ttl 63 action drop
doesn't drop all IPv4 packets that match the configured TTL / destination
address. In particular, if "fragment offset" or "more fragments" have non
zero value in the IPv4 header, setting of FLOW_DISSECTOR_KEY_IP is simply
ignored. Fix this dissecting IPv4 TTL and TOS before fragment info; while

With the recent mitigations against speculative execution exploits,
indirect function calls are more expensive and it would be good to avoid
them where possible.
In the case of DSA, most switch taggers will shift the EtherType and
next headers by a fixed amount equal to that tag's length in bytes.
So we can use a generic procedure to determine that, without calling
into custom tagger code. However we still leave the flow_dissect method
inside struct dsa_device_ops as an override for the generic function.

Prepare for having multi-prog attachments for new netns attach types by
storing programs to run in a bpf_prog_array, which is well suited for
iterating over programs and running them in sequence.
After this change bpf(PROG_QUERY) may block to allocate memory in
bpf_prog_array_copy_to_user() for collected program IDs. This forces a
change in how we protect access to the attached program in the query
callback. Because bpf_prog_array_copy_to_user() can sleep, we switch from
an RCU read lock to holding a mutex that serializes updaters.
Because we allow only one BPF flow_dissector program to be attached to
netns at all times, the bpf_prog_array pointed by net->bpf.run_array is

The current MPLS dissector only parses the first MPLS Label Stack
Entry (second LSE can be parsed too, but only to set a key_id).
This patch adds the possibility to parse several LSEs by making
__skb_flow_dissect_mpls() return FLOW_DISSECT_RET_PROTO_AGAIN as long
as the Bottom Of Stack bit hasn't been seen, up to a maximum of
FLOW_DIS_MPLS_MAX entries.
FLOW_DIS_MPLS_MAX is arbitrarily set to 7. This should be enough for
many practical purposes, without wasting too much space.
To record the parsed values, flow_dissector_key_mpls is modified to
store an array of stack entries, instead of just the values of the
first one. A bit field, "used_lses", is also added to keep track of
the LSEs that have been set. The objective is to avoid defining a
new FLOW_DISSECTOR_KEY_MPLS_XX for each level of the MPLS stack.
TC flower is adapted for the new struct flow_dissector_key_mpls layout.
Matching on several MPLS Label Stack Entries will be added in the next
patch.
The NFP and MLX5 drivers are also adapted: nfp_flower_compile_mac() and
mlx5's parse_tunnel() now verify that the rule only uses the first LSE
and fail if it doesn't.
Finally, the behaviour of the FLOW_DISSECTOR_KEY_MPLS_ENTROPY key is
slightly modified. Instead of recording the first Entropy Label, it
now records the last one. This shouldn't have any consequences since
there doesn't seem to have any user of FLOW_DISSECTOR_KEY_MPLS_ENTROPY
in the tree. We'd probably better do a hash of all parsed MPLS labels
instead (excluding reserved labels) anyway. That'd give better entropy
and would probably also simplify the code. But that's not the purpose
of this patch, so I'm keeping that as a future possible improvement.

preempt_enable();
Replace this with bpf_prog_run_pin_on_cpu() which wraps BPF_PROG_RUN()
with:
migrate_disable();
BPF_PROG_RUN(...);
migrate_enable();
On non RT enabled kernels this maps to preempt_disable/enable() and on RT
enabled kernels this solely prevents migration, which is sufficient as
there is no requirement to prevent reentrancy to any BPF program from a
preempting task. The only requirement is that the program stays on the same
CPU.
Therefore, this is a trivially correct transformation.

Commit 43e665287f ("net-next: dsa: fix flow dissection") added an
ability to override protocol and network offset during flow dissection
for DSA-enabled devices (i.e. controllers shipped as switch CPU ports)
in order to fix skb hashing for RPS on Rx path.
However, skb_hash() and added part of code can be invoked not only on
Rx, but also on Tx path if we have a multi-queued device and:
- kernel is running on UP system or
- XPS is not configured.
The call stack in this two cases will be like: dev_queue_xmit() ->
__dev_queue_xmit() -> netdev_core_pick_tx() -> netdev_pick_tx() ->
skb_tx_hash() -> skb_get_hash().
The problem is that skbs queued for Tx have both network offset and
correct protocol already set up even after inserting a CPU tag by DSA
tagger, so calling tag_ops->flow_dissect() on this path actually only
breaks flow dissection and hashing.
This can be observed by adding debug prints just before and right after
tag_ops->flow_dissect() call to the related block of code:

The recent commit 5c72299fba ("net: sched: cls_flower: Classify
packets using port ranges") had added filtering based on port ranges
to tc flower. However the commit missed necessary changes in hw-offload
code, so the feature gave rise to generating incorrect offloaded flow
keys in NIC.
One more detailed example is below:
$ tc qdisc add dev eth0 ingress
$ tc filter add dev eth0 ingress protocol ip flower ip_proto tcp \
dst_port 100-200 action drop
With the setup above, an exact match filter with dst_port == 0 will be
installed in NIC by hw-offload. IOW, the NIC will have a rule which is
equivalent to the following one.
$ tc qdisc add dev eth0 ingress
$ tc filter add dev eth0 ingress protocol ip flower ip_proto tcp \
dst_port 0 action drop
The behavior was caused by the flow dissector which extracts packet
data into the flow key in the tc flower. More specifically, regardless
of exact match or specified port ranges, fl_init_dissector() set the
FLOW_DISSECTOR_KEY_PORTS flag in struct flow_dissector to extract port
numbers from skb in skb_flow_dissect() called by fl_classify(). Note
that device drivers received the same struct flow_dissector object as
used in skb_flow_dissect(). Thus, offloaded drivers could not identify
which of these is used because the FLOW_DISSECTOR_KEY_PORTS flag was
set to struct flow_dissector in either case.
This patch adds the new FLOW_DISSECTOR_KEY_PORTS_RANGE flag and the new
tp_range field in struct fl_flow_key to recognize which filters are applied
to offloaded drivers. At this point, when filters based on port ranges
passed to drivers, drivers return the EOPNOTSUPP error because they do
not support the feature (the newly created FLOW_DISSECTOR_KEY_PORTS_RANGE
flag).

UDP IPv6 packets auto flowlabels are using a 32bit secret
(static u32 hashrnd in net/core/flow_dissector.c) and
apply jhash() over fields known by the receivers.
Attackers can easily infer the 32bit secret and use this information
to identify a device and/or user, since this 32bit secret is only
set at boot time.
Really, using jhash() to generate cookies sent on the wire
is a serious security concern.
Trying to change the rol32(hash, 16) in ip6_make_flowlabel() would be
a dead end. Trying to periodically change the secret (like in sch_sfq.c)
could change paths taken in the network for long lived flows.
Let's switch to siphash, as we did in commit df453700e8
("inet: switch IP ID generator to siphash")
Using a cryptographically strong pseudo random function will solve this
privacy issue and more generally remove other weak points in the stack.

It is currently not possible to detach the flow dissector program and

Attempts to do so will be met with EEXIST error.
This makes updates to flow dissector program hard. Traffic steering that

There is also a window of opportunity to attach a flow dissector to a

Lastly, the behavior is inconsistent with cgroup BPF programs, which can be

pull-request: bpf-next 2018-09-25
The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net-next* tree.
The main changes are:
1) Allow for RX stack hardening by implementing the kernel's flow
dissector in BPF. Idea was originally presented at netconf 2017 [0].
Quote from merge commit:
[...] Because of the rigorous checks of the BPF verifier, this
provides significant security guarantees. In particular, the BPF
flow dissector cannot get inside of an infinite loop, as with
CVE-2013-4348, because BPF programs are guaranteed to terminate.
It cannot read outside of packet bounds, because all memory accesses
are checked. Also, with BPF the administrator can decide which
protocols to support, reducing potential attack surface. Rarely
encountered protocols can be excluded from dissection and the
program can be updated without kernel recompile or reboot if a
bug is discovered. [...]
Also, a sample flow dissector has been implemented in BPF as part
of this work, from Petar and Willem.

2) Add support for bpftool to list currently active attachment
points of BPF networking programs providing a quick overview
similar to bpftool's perf subcommand, from Yonghong.
3) Fix a verifier pruning instability bug where a union member
from the register state was not cleared properly leading to
branches not being pruned despite them being valid candidates,
from Alexei.
4) Various smaller fast-path optimizations in XDP's map redirect
code, from Jesper.
5) Enable to recognize BPF_MAP_TYPE_REUSEPORT_SOCKARRAY maps
in bpftool, from Roman.
6) Remove a duplicate check in libbpf that probes for function
storage, from Taeung.
7) Fix an issue in test_progs by avoid checking for errno since
on success its value should not be checked, from Mauricio.
8) Fix unused variable warning in bpf_getsockopt() helper when
CONFIG_INET is not configured, from Anders.
9) Fix a compilation failure in the BPF sample code's use of
bpf_flow_keys, from Prashant.
10) Minor cleanups in BPF code, from Yue and Zhong.

BPF flow dissectors are configured per network namespace.
__skb_flow_dissect looks up the netns through dev_net(skb->dev).
In some dissector paths skb->dev is NULL, such as for Unix sockets.
In these cases fall back to looking up the netns by socket.
Analyzing the codepaths leading to __skb_flow_dissect I did not find
a case where both skb->dev and skb->sk are NULL. Warn and fall back to
standard flow dissector if one is found.

Allow the existing 'dissection' of tunnel metadata to 'dissect'
options already present in tunnel metadata. This dissection is
controlled by a new dissector key, FLOW_DISSECTOR_KEY_ENC_OPTS.
This dissection only occurs when skb_flow_dissect_tunnel_info()
is called, currently only the Flower classifier makes that call.
So there should be no impact on other users of the flow dissector.

When the core networking needs to detect the transport offset in a given
packet and parse it explicitly, a full-blown flow_keys struct is used for
storage.
This patch introduces a smaller keys store, rework the basic flow dissect
helper to use it, and apply this new helper where possible - namely in
skb_probe_transport_header(). The used flow dissector data structures
are renamed to match more closely the new role.
The above gives ~50% performance improvement in micro benchmarking around
skb_probe_transport_header() and ~30% around eth_get_headlen(), mostly due
to the smaller memset. Small, but measurable improvement is measured also
in macro benchmarking.

syzbot reported yet another crash [1] that is caused by
insufficient validation of DODGY packets.
Two bugs are happening here to trigger the crash.
1) Flow dissection leaves with incorrect thoff field.
2) skb_probe_transport_header() sets transport header to this invalid
thoff, even if pointing after skb valid data.
3) qdisc_pkt_len_init() reads out-of-bound data because it
trusts tcp_hdrlen(skb)
Possible fixes :
- Full flow dissector validation before injecting bad DODGY packets in
the stack.
This approach was attempted here : https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/
861874/
- Have more robust functions in the core.
This might be needed anyway for stable versions.

Move dissection of tunnel info to outside of the main flow dissection
function, __skb_flow_dissect(). The sole user of this feature, the flower
classifier, is updated to call tunnel info dissection directly, using
skb_flow_dissect_tunnel_info().
This results in a slightly less complex implementation of
__skb_flow_dissect(), in particular removing logic from that call path
which is not used by the majority of users. The expense of this is borne by
the flower classifier which now has to make an extra call for tunnel info

Currently, the TIPC RPS dissector is based only on the incoming packets'
source node address, hence steering all traffic from a node to the same
core. We have seen that this makes the links vulnerable to starvation
and unnecessary resets when we turn down the link tolerance to very low
values.
To reduce the risk of this happening, we exempt probe and probe replies
packets from the convergence to one core per source node. Instead, we do
the opposite, - we try to diverge those packets across as many cores as
possible, by randomizing the flow selector key.
To make such packets identifiable to the dissector, we add a new
'is_keepalive' bit to word 0 of the LINK_PROTOCOL header. This bit is
set both for PROBE and PROBE_REPLY messages, and only for those.
It should be noted that these packets are not part of any flow anyway,
and only constitute a minuscule fraction of all packets sent across a
link. Hence, there is no risk that this will affect overall performance.

that flow dissector will parse.
Headers includes network layer headers, transport layer headers, shim
headers for encapsulation, IPv6 extension headers, etc. The limit for
maximum number of headers to parse has be set to fifteen to account for
a reasonable number of encapsulations, extension headers, VLAN,
in a packet. Note that this limit does not supercede the STOP_AT_*

Now, when an unexpected element in the GRE header appears, we break so
the l4 ports are processed. But since the ports are processed
unconditionally, there will be certainly random values dissected. Fix
this by just bailing out in such situations.

dissection into a separate function. Along with that, do the MPLS header
processing only in case the flow dissection user requires it.

arp is being checked instead of arp_eth to see if the call to
__skb_header_pointer failed. Fix this by checking arp_eth is
null instead of arp. Also fix to use length hlen rather than
hlen - sizeof(_arp); thanks to Eric Dumazet for spotting
this latter issue.
CoverityScan CID#1396428 ("Logically dead code") on 2nd
arp comparison (which should be arp_eth instead).

Allow dissection of (R)ARP operation hardware and protocol addresses
for Ethernet hardware and IPv4 protocol addresses.
There are currently no users of FLOW_DISSECTOR_KEY_ARP.
A follow-up patch will allow FLOW_DISSECTOR_KEY_ARP to be used by the
flower classifier.

udplite conflict is resolved by taking what 'net-next' did
which removed the backlog receive method assignment, since
it is no longer necessary.
Two entries were added to the non-priv ethtool operations
switch statement, one in 'net' and one in 'net-next, so
simple overlapping changes.

Andre Noll reported panics after my recent fix (commit 34fad54c25
"net: __skb_flow_dissect() must cap its return value")
After some more headaches, Alexander root caused the problem to
init_default_flow_dissectors() being called too late, in case
a network driver like IGB is not a module and receives DHCP message
very early.
Fix is to call init_default_flow_dissectors() much earlier,
as it is a core infrastructure and does not depend on another
kernel service.

gcc warns about an uninitialized pointer dereference in the vlan
priority handling:
net/core/flow_dissector.c: In function '__skb_flow_dissect':
net/core/flow_dissector.c:281:61: error: 'vlan' may be used uninitialized in this function [-Werror=maybe-uninitialized]
As pointed out by Jiri Pirko, the variable is never actually used
without being initialized first as the only way it end up uninitialized
is with skb_vlan_tag_present(skb)==true, and that means it does not
get accessed.
However, the warning hints at some related issues that I'm addressing
here:
- the second check for the vlan tag is different from the first one
that tests the skb for being NULL first, causing both the warning
and a possible NULL pointer dereference that was not entirely fixed.
- The same patch that introduced the NULL pointer check dropped an
earlier optimization that skipped the repeated check of the
protocol type
- The local '_vlan' variable is referenced through the 'vlan' pointer
but the variable has gone out of scope by the time that it is
accessed, causing undefined behavior
Caching the result of the 'skb && skb_vlan_tag_present(skb)' check
in a local variable allows the compiler to further optimize the
later check. With those changes, the warning also disappears.
