To allow the user to use a custom file for the HWMON lm-sensors library
per card type, the driver needs to register the HWMON sensors with the
specific card type name.
The card name is supplied by the F/W running on the device. If the F/W is
old and doesn't supply a card name, a default card name is displayed as
the sensors group name.

Add a new opcode to INFO IOCTL to retrieve aggregate H/W events. i.e. the
events counters are NOT cleared upon device reset, but count from the
loading of the driver.

Users and sysadmins usually want to know what is the device utilization as
a level 0 indication if they are efficiently using the device.
Add a new opcode to the INFO IOCTL that will return the device utilization
over the last period of 100-1000ms. The return value is 0-100,
representing as percentage the total utilization rate.

The Coresight timestamp is enabled for a specific debug session using
the HL_DEBUG_OP_TIMESTAMP opcode of the debug IOCTL.
In order to have a perpetual timestamp that would be comparable between
various debug sessions, this patch moves the timestamp enablement to be
part of the HW initialization.
The HL_DEBUG_OP_TIMESTAMP opcode turns to be deprecated and shouldn't be
used. Old user-space that will call it won't see any change in the
behavior of the debug session.

Now that we don't print the queue testing messages, we need to print when
the reset is finished so whoever looks at the kernel log will know the
reset process was finished successfully and the driver is not stuck.

The char devices are currently exposed to user before the device and
driver initialization are done.
This patch moves the cdev and device adding to the system to the end of
the initialization sequence, while keeping the creation of the
structures at the beginning to allow the usage of dev_*().

This patch fixes a possible kernel crash when a user provides a too small
input structure to the Debug IOCTL.
The fix sets a default input structure and copies to it the user data.
In case the user provided as input a too small structure, the code will
use the default values taken from the default structure.
Note that in contrary to the input structure, the user can provide an
output structure with changing size or no size at all. Therefore the user
output structure validation is already done in the Debug logic later on.

The PSOC scratch-pad registers are used for communication with the
device CPU. This patch adds new definitions for these registers which
are more descriptive than their general names.
The new set of definitions also gathers and documents the current usage
of the scratch-pad registers by the driver and the device CPU.

This patch changes the driver to create two char devices for each ASIC
it discovers. This is done to allow system/monitoring applications to
query the device for stats, information, idle state and more, while also
allowing the deep-learning application to send work to the ASIC.
One char device is the original device, hlX. IOCTL calls through this
device file can perform any task on the device (compute, memory, queries).
The open function for this device will fail if it was called before but
the file-descriptor it created was not completely released yet (the
release callback function is not called from the kernel until all
instances of that FD are closed). The driver needs to keep this behavior
to support backward compatibility with existing userspace, which count
that the open will fail if the device is "occupied".
The second char device is called "hl_controlDx", where x is the same index
of the main device with a minor number of the original char device + 1.
Applications that open this device can only call the INFO IOCTL. There is
no limitation on the number of applications opening this device.

This patch re-factors the device_setup_cdev() function to make it more
generic. It doesn't manipulate members of the driver's internal device
structure but instead works only on the arguments that are sent to it.
This is in preparation for using this function to create an additional
char device per ASIC.

This patch adds a new list to the driver's device structure. The list will
keep the file private data structures that the driver creates when a user
process opens the device.
This change is needed because it is useless to try to count how many FD
are open. Instead, track our own private data structure per open file and
once it is released, remove it from the list. As long as the list is not
empty, it means we have a user that can do something with our device.

This patch renames the "user_ctx" field in the device structure to
"compute_ctx". This better reflects the meaning of this context.
In addition, we also check in the ctx_fini() that the debug mode should be
disabled only if the context being destroyed is the compute context. This
has no effect right now as we only have a single process and a single
context, but this makes the code more ready for multiple process support.

When the user query the dram usage of a context, show it the dram usage of
its context, not the user context that is currently running on the device.
This has no effect right now as we only have a single process and a single
context, but this makes the code more ready for multiple process support.

This patch calls the kill user process function after we rollback the
in-flight CSs. This is because the user process can't be closed while
there are open CSs. Therefore, there is no point of sending it a SIGKILL
before we do the rollback CS part.

The ability of setting power management properties by the system
administrator (through sysfs properties) is only relevant for the GOYA
ASIC. Therefore, move the relevant sysfs properties to the GOYA sysfs
specific file, to make the properties appear in sysfs only for GOYA cards.

In the driver timeout functions, we give the simulator a factor of 10
in the timeout. This was necessary when the requested timeout is small
but if it was a few seconds, this can result in a very large timeout which
is unnecessary.
This patch caps the maximum timeout of the simulator to 10 seconds, which
is our largest timeout in the code. That is more then enough for anything
the simulator is doing.

When rejecting CS because of too many in-flight CS, print a debug message
about it as it useful to know when the user is debugging (it indicates a
back-pressure from the driver as the device is not fast enough to consume

Introduce two options to control the use of the tlbie instruction. A
boot time option which completely disables the kernel using the
instruction, this is currently incompatible with HASH MMU, KVM, and
coherent accelerators.
And a debugfs option can be switched at runtime and avoids using tlbie
for invalidating CPU TLBs for normal process and kernel address
mappings. Coherent accelerators are still managed with tlbie, as will
KVM partition scope translations.
Cross-CPU TLB flushing is implemented with IPIs and tlbiel. This is a
basic implementation which does not attempt to make any optimisation
beyond the tlbie implementation.
This is useful for performance testing among other things. For example
in certain situations on large systems, using IPIs may be faster than
tlbie as they can be directed rather than broadcast. Later we may also
take advantage of the IPIs to do more interesting things such as trim
the mm cpumask more aggressively.

dma buf refcount has to be done by the driver which is going to use the fd.
This driver already does refcount on the dmabuf fd if its actively using it
but also does an additional refcounting via extra ioctl.
This additional refcount can lead to memory leak in cases where the
applications fail to call the ioctl to decrement the refcount.
So remove this extra refcount in the ioctl

The channel context is referenced from the fastrpc user and might as
user space holds the file descriptor open outlive the fastrpc device,
which is removed when the remote processor is shutting down.
Reference count the channel context in order to retain this object until
all references has been relinquished.

Time has come to get rid of the old eeprom driver. The at24 driver
should be used instead. So mark the eeprom driver as deprecated and
give users some time to migrate. Then we can remove the legacy
eeprom driver completely.

I915 converts it's port value into ddi index defiend by ME FW
and pass it as a member of hdcp_port_data structure.
Hence expose the enum mei_fw_ddi to I915 through

The cause for the bug is that when the "delayed" doorbell is invoked, it
takes a reference on the doorbell entry and schedules work that is
supposed to run the appropriate code and drop the doorbell entry
reference. The code ignores the fact that if the work is already queued,
it will not be scheduled to run one more time. As a result one of the
references would not be dropped. When the code waits for the reference
to get to zero, during balloon reset or module removal, it gets stuck.
Fix it. Drop the reference if schedule_work() indicates that the work is
already queued.
Note that this bug got more apparent (or apparent at all) due to
commit ce664331b2 ("vmw_balloon: VMCI_DOORBELL_SET does not check status").

There are three paths through the kernel code exception logging:
- BUG (no configurable printk message)
- WARN_ON (no configurable printk message)
- WARN (configurable printk message)
LKDTM was not testing WARN_ON(). This is needed to evaluate the placement
of the "cut here" line, which needs special handling in each of the
three exceptions (and between architectures that implement instruction
exceptions to implement the code exceptions).

The only thing remaining of the machvecs is a few checks if we are
running on an SGI UV system. Replace those with the existing
is_uv_system() check that has been rewritten to simply check the
OEM ID directly.
That leaves us with a generic kernel that is as fast as the previous
DIG/ZX1/UV kernels, but can support all hardware. Support for UV
and the HP SBA IOMMU is now optional based on new config options.

GRU is already using almost the same algorithm as get/put, it even
helpfully has a 10 year old comment to make this algorithm common, which
is finally happening.
There are a few differences and fixes from this conversion:
- GRU used rcu not srcu to read the hlist
- Unclear how the locking worked to prevent gru_register_mmu_notifier()
from running concurrently with gru_drop_mmu_notifier() - this version is
safe
- GRU had a release function which only set a variable without any locking
that skiped the synchronize_srcu during unregister which looks racey,
but this makes it reliable via the integrated call_srcu().
- It is unclear if the mmap_sem is actually held when
__mmu_notifier_register() was called, lockdep will now warn if this is
wrong

The static xpc_arch_operations structure xpc_arch_ops_uv is only copied
into the structure xpc_arch_ops, after which it is never modified; nor
is it used in any other way. Hence it can be declared as a constant to
prevent unintended modifications of its fields.

Support monitoring and detecting the SD-FEC error events
through IRQ and poll file operation.
The SD-FEC device can detect one-error or multi-error events.
An error triggers an interrupt which creates and run the ONE_SHOT
IRQ thread.
The ONE_SHOT IRQ thread detects type of error and pass that
information to the poll function.
The file_operation callback poll(), collects the events and
updates the statistics accordingly.
The function poll blocks() on waiting queue which can be
unblocked by ONE_SHOT IRQ handling thread.
Support SD-FEC interrupt set ioctl callback.
The SD-FEC can detect two type of errors: coding errors (ECC) and
a data interface errors (TLAST).
The errors are events which can trigger an IRQ if enabled.
The driver can monitor and detect these errors through IRQ.
Also the driver updates the statistical data.

When unmasking IRQs inside the ASIC, the driver passes an array of all the
IRQ to unmask. The ASIC's CPU is working in LE so when running in a BE
host, the driver needs to do the proper endianness swapping when preparing
this array.
In addition, this patch also fixes the endianness of a couple of kernel log
debug messages that print values of packets

The PQs of internal H/W queues (QMANs) can be located in different memory
areas for different ASICs. Therefore, when writing PQEs, we need to use
the correct function according to the location of the PQ. e.g. if the PQ
is located in the device's memory (SRAM or DRAM), we need to use
memcpy_toio() so it would work in architectures that have separate
address ranges for IO memory.
This patch makes the code that writes the PQE to be ASIC-specific so we
can handle this properly per ASIC.

Packets that arrive from the user and need to be parsed by the driver are
assumed to be in LE format.
This patch fix all the places where the code handles these packets and use
the correct endianness macros to handle them, as the driver handles the
packets in CPU format (LE or BE depending on the arch).

In case kernel context init fails during device initialization, both
hl_ctx_put() and kfree() are called, ending with a double free of the
kernel context.
Calling kfree() is needed only when a failure happens between the
allocation of the kernel context and its initialization, so move it to
there and remove it from the error flow.

Here are some small char/misc driver fixes for 5.3-rc4.
Two of these are for the habanalabs driver for issues found when running
on a big-endian system (are they still alive?) The others are tiny
fixes reported by people, and a MAINTAINERS update about the location of
the fpga development tree.
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
issues.

This patch fix a bug in the host memory polling macro. The bug is that the
memory being polled can be written by the device, which always writes it
in LE. However, if the host is running Linux in BE mode, we need to
convert the value that was written by the device before matching it to the
required value that the caller has given to the macro.

writeX macros might perform byte-swapping in BE architectures. As our F/W
is in LE format, we need to make sure no byte-swapping will occur.
There is a standard kernel function (called memcpy_toio) for copying data
to I/O area which is used in a lot of drivers to download F/W to PCIe
adapters. That function also makes sure the data is copied "as-is",
without byte-swapping.
This patch use that function to copy the F/W to the GOYA ASIC instead of
writeX macros.

misc/eeprom/{at24,at25,eeprom_93xx46} drivers all register their
corresponding devices in the nvmem framework in compat mode which requires
nvmem sysfs interface to be present. The latter, however, has been split
out from nvmem under a separate Kconfig in commit ae0c2d7255 ("nvmem:
core: add NVMEM_SYSFS Kconfig"). As a result, probing certain I2C-attached
EEPROMs now fails with
at24: probe of 0-0050 failed with error -38
because of a stub implementation of nvmem_sysfs_setup_compat()
in drivers/nvmem/nvmem.h. Update the nvmem dependency for these drivers
so they could load again:
at24 0-0050: 32768 byte 24c256 EEPROM, writable, 64 bytes/write

Generally, declaring a platform device as a static variable is
a bad idea and can cause all kinds of problems, in particular
with the DMA configuration and lifetime rules.
A specific problem we hit here is from a bug in clang that warns
about certain (otherwise valid) macros when used in static variables:

A slightly better way here is to create the platform device dynamically
and set the dma mask in the probe function.
This avoids the warning and some other problems, but is still not ideal
because the device creation should really be separated from the driver,
and the fact that the device has no parent means we have to force
the dma mask rather than having it set up from the bus that the device
is actually on.

Here is the "big" driver core and debugfs changes for 5.3-rc1
It's a lot of different patches, all across the tree due to some api
changes and lots of debugfs cleanups. Because of this, there is going
to be some merge issues with your tree at the moment, I'll follow up
with the expected resolutions to make it easier for you.
Other than the debugfs cleanups, in this set of changes we have:
- bus iteration function cleanups (will cause build warnings
with s390 and coresight drivers in your tree)
- scripts/get_abi.pl tool to display and parse Documentation/ABI
entries in a simple way
- cleanups to Documenatation/ABI/ entries to make them parse
easier due to typos and other minor things
- default_attrs use for some ktype users
- driver model documentation file conversions to .rst
- compressed firmware file loading
- deferred probe fixes
All of these have been in linux-next for a while, with a bunch of merge
issues that Stephen has been patient with me for. Other than the merge
issues, functionality is working properly in linux-next :)

The OpenCAPI discovery and configuration specification has been
updated and introduces version 1.1 of the AFU descriptor template,
with new fields to better define the memory layout of an OpenCAPI
adapter.
The ocxl driver doesn't do much yet to support LPC memory but as we
start seeing (non-LPC) AFU images using the new template, this patch
updates the config space parsing code to avoid spitting a warning.

Pull force_sig() argument change from Eric Biederman:
"A source of error over the years has been that force_sig has taken a
task parameter when it is only safe to use force_sig with the current
task.
The force_sig function is built for delivering synchronous signals
such as SIGSEGV where the userspace application caused a synchronous
fault (such as a page fault) and the kernel responded with a signal.
Because the name force_sig does not make this clear, and because the
force_sig takes a task parameter the function force_sig has been
abused for sending other kinds of signals over the years. Slowly those
have been fixed when the oopses have been tracked down.
This set of changes fixes the remaining abusers of force_sig and
carefully rips out the task parameter from force_sig and friends
making this kind of error almost impossible in the future"

Convert the ibmasmfs filesystem to the new internal mount API as the old
one will be obsoleted and removed. This allows greater flexibility in
communication of mount parameters between userspace, the VFS and the
filesystem.

The information which is currently provided as a response to the
"HL_INFO_HW_IDLE" IOCTL is merely a general boolean value.
This patch extends it and provides also a bitmask that indicates which
of the device engines are busy.

Command submissions sent to the device are composed of command buffers
which are targeted to different device engines, like DMA and compute
entities. When a command submission gets stuck, knowing in which engine
the stuck is, is crucial for debugging.
This patch adds a debugfs node that exports this information, by
displaying the engines' various registers that assemble their idle/busy
status.
The information retrieval is based on the is_device_idle ASIC function.
The printout in this function, of the first detected busy engine, is
removed because it becomes redundant in the presence of the more
elaborated info of the new debugfs node.

The patch updates the device idle check:
- Add reading the DMA core status register, because it is possible that
a QMAN has finished its work but the DMA itself is still running.
- Remove the MME shadow status check, as the MME ARCH status register
includes the status of all MME shadows.

VRHOT event from the F/W indicates the device has reached a temperature of
100 Celsius degrees. In this case, the driver should only print this
information to the kernel log. The device will shutdown itself
automatically when reaching 125 degrees.

Allows using the addr/data32 debugfs nodes to access a device VA of a
host mapped memory when the IOMMU is disabled.
Due to the possible large amount of a user host mapped memory, the
driver doesn't maintain a database with the host addresses per device VA.
When the IOMMU is disabled, this missing info is being overcome by
simply using phys_to_virt(). However, this is not useful when the IOMMU
is enabled, and thus the enforced limitation.

Another round of SPDX header file fixes for 5.2-rc4
These are all more "GPL-2.0-or-later" or "GPL-2.0-only" tags being
added, based on the text in the files. We are slowly chipping away at
the 700+ different ways people tried to write the license text. All of
these were reviewed on the spdx mailing list by a number of different
people.
We now have over 60% of the kernel files covered with SPDX tags:

Files with SPDX: 40392
Files with errors: 0
I think the majority of the "easy" fixups are now done, it's now the

Here are some small char and misc driver fixes for 5.2-rc4 to resolve a
number of reported issues.
The most "notable" one here is the kernel headers in proc^Wsysfs fixes.
Those changes move the header file info into sysfs and fixes the build
issues that you reported.
Other than that, a bunch of small habanalabs driver fixes, some fpga
driver fixes, and a few other tiny driver fixes.
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
issues.

The trace buffer address is 40 bits wide.
The end of the buffer is set in the RWP register (lower 32 bits), and in
the RWPHI register (upper 8 bits).
Currently only the lower 32 bits are read, and this patch fixes it and
concatenates the upper 8 bits to the output address.

The debugfs interface for accessing DRAM virtual addresses currently
uses the 12 LSBs of a virtual address as an offset.
However, it should use the 20 LSBs in case the device MMU page size is
2MB instead of 4KB.
This patch fixes the offset calculation to be based on the page size.

This patch checks if an MMU mapping is erroneous in that the physical
address that is being mapped is NOT divisible by the page size.
If that thing happens, then the H/W will issue a transaction which will be
translated to a wrong address, because part of the address will not be
taken (the remainder of address/page size).
Because the physical address is being handled by the driver, a WARN is
suitable here as it implies a bug in the driver code itself and not a user
bug.

One of the more common cases of allocation size calculations is finding
the size of a structure that has a zero-sized array at the end, along
with memory for some number of elements for that array. For example:
struct foo {
int stuff;
struct boo entry[];
};
size = sizeof(struct foo) + count * sizeof(struct boo);
instance = devm_kzalloc(dev, size, GFP_KERNEL);
Instead of leaving these open-coded and prone to type mistakes, we can
now use the new struct_size() helper:
instance = devm_kzalloc(dev, struct_size(instance, entry, count), GFP_KERNEL);
Notice that, in this case, variable at24_size is not necessary, hence it
is removed.

This patch removes the non-standard DMA mask setting for Goya. Now that
the device CPU goes through the MMU, we are not limited to allocating the
CPU accessible memory area in the address space of under 39 bits.
Therefore, we don't need to set the DMA masking twice during
initialization, a practice that is not working on POWER architecture.
The patch sets the DMA mask to 48 bits once during the initialization. The
address of the CPU accessible memory area is configured to the MMU and the
matching VA is given to the device CPU.

This patch adds the necessary MMU mappings for the Goya CPU to access the
device DRAM and the host memory.
The first 256MB of the device DRAM is being mapped. That's where the F/W
is running.
The 2MB area located on the host memory for the purpose of communication
between the driver and the device CPU is also being mapped.

This patch initializes the MMU S/W structures before the VM S/W
structures, instead of doing that as part of the VM S/W initialization.
This is done because we need to configure some MMU mappings for the kernel
context, before the VM is initialized. The VM initialization can't be
moved earlier because it depends on the size of the DRAM, which is
retrieved from the device CPU. Communication with the device CPU will
require the MMU mappings to be configured and hence the de-coupling.

This patch fix a bug in the mmu code that checks whether we can use huge
page mappings for host pages.
The code is supposed to enable huge page mappings only if ALL DMA
addresses are aligned to 2MB AND the number of pages in each DMA chunk is
a modulo of the number of pages in 2MB. However, the code ignored the
first requirement for the first DMA chunk.
This patch fix that issue by making sure the requirement of address
alignment is validated against all DMA chunks.

remove the task parameter to make this obvious and to make
misuse more difficult in the future.

Convert the cxl filesystem to the new internal mount API as the old
one will be obsoleted and removed. This allows greater flexibility in
communication of mount parameters between userspace, the VFS and the
filesystem.

Once upon a time we used to set ->d_name of e.g. pipefs root
so that d_path() on pipes would work. These days it's
completely pointless - dentries of pipes are not even connected
to pipefs root. However, mount_pseudo() had set the root
dentry name (passed as the second argument) and callers
kept inventing names to pass to it. Including those that
didn't *have* any non-root dentries to start with...
All of that had been pointless for about 8 years now; it's
time to get rid of that cargo-culting...

The MMU cache mutex is used in the ASIC hw_init() functions, but it is
initialized only later in hl_mmu_init().
This patch prevents it by moving the initialization to the
device_early_init() function.

This fixes multiple things in the habanalabs debugfs code, in particular:
- mmu_write() was unnecessarily verbose, copying around between multiple
buffers
- mmu_write() could write a user-specified, unbounded amount of userspace
memory into a kernel buffer (out-of-bounds write)
- multiple debugfs read handlers ignored the user-supplied count,
potentially corrupting out-of-bounds userspace data
- hl_device_read() was unnecessarily verbose
- hl_device_write() could read uninitialized stack memory
- multiple debugfs read handlers copied terminating null characters to
userspace

This patch fix a potential bug where a user's process has closed
unexpectedly without disabling the debug engines. In that case, the debug
engines might continue running but because the user's MMU mappings are
going away, we will get page fault errors.
This behavior is also opposed to the general rule where nothing runs on
the device after the user process closes.
The patch stops the debug H/W engines upon process termination and thus
makes sure nothing runs on the device after the process goes away.

There are a couple potential integer overflows here.
round_up(m->size + (m->addr & ~PAGE_MASK), PAGE_SIZE);
The first thing is that the "m->size + (...)" addition could overflow,
and the second is that round_up() overflows to zero if the result is
within PAGE_SIZE of the type max.
In this code, the "m->size" variable is an u64 but we're saving the
result in "map_size" which is an unsigned long and genwqe_user_vmap()
takes an unsigned long as well. So I have used ULONG_MAX as the upper
bound. From a practical perspective unsigned long is fine/better than
trying to change all the types to u64.

the device CPU as that limitation is not needed.

This patch adds support to the goya memset function to perform memset to
device memory with size larger then 4GB. In this case, we need to use
multiple LIN_DMA packets because a single packet supports up to 4GB.

To facilitate additional options to get_user_pages_fast() change the
singular write parameter to be gup_flags.
This patch does not change any functionality. New functionality will
follow in subsequent patches.
Some of the get_user_pages_fast() call sites were unchanged because they
already passed FOLL_WRITE or 0 for the write parameter.
NOTE: It was suggested to change the ordering of the get_user_pages_fast()
arguments to ensure that callers were converted. This breaks the current
GUP call site convention of having the returned pages be the final
parameter. So the suggestion was rejected.

This patch adds a new parameter that is passed to the
add_end_of_cb_packets() asic-specific function.
The parameter is the pointer to the driver's device structure. The
function needs this pointer for future ASICs.

- Support for Kernel Userspace Access/Execution Prevention (like
SMAP/SMEP/PAN/PXN) on some 64-bit and 32-bit CPUs. This prevents the kernel
from accidentally accessing userspace outside copy_to/from_user(), or
ever executing userspace.
- KASAN support on 32-bit.
- Rework of where we map the kernel, vmalloc, etc. on 64-bit hash to use the
same address ranges we use with the Radix MMU.
- A rewrite into C of large parts of our idle handling code for 64-bit Book3S
(ie. power8 & power9).
- A fast path entry for syscalls on 32-bit CPUs, for a 12-17% speedup in the
null_syscall benchmark.
- On 64-bit bare metal we have support for recovering from errors with the time
base (our clocksource), however if that fails currently we hang in __delay()
and never crash. We now have support for detecting that case and short
circuiting __delay() so we at least panic() and reboot.
- Add support for optionally enabling the DAWR on Power9, which had to be
disabled by default due to a hardware erratum. This has the effect of
enabling hardware breakpoints for GDB, the downside is a badly behaved
program could crash the machine by pointing the DAWR at cache inhibited
memory. This is opt-in obviously.
- xmon, our crash handler, gets support for a read only mode where operations
that could change memory or otherwise disturb the system are disabled.
Plus many clean-ups, reworks and minor fixes etc.

This patch changes two polling functions to macros, in order to make their
API the same as the standard readl_poll_timeout so we would be able to
define the "condition for exit" when calling these macros.
This will simplify the code as it will eliminate the need to check both
for timeout and for the (cond) in the calling function.

Driver-initiated DMA jobs are synchronized jobs, i.e. the driver polls on
fence object until the job is finished. There is no interrupt from the
device. Therefore, no need to add space for 2 * msg_prot packets to the
end of the CB. Only a single msg_prot is needed (to write the fence).

This patch changes the order of checks when initializing the device CPU.
We want first to check if we need to load the F/W, and only if we need to,

This patch removes some dead code that performs checks about variables
with hard-coded values.
The patch also moves the initialization of those variables to a separate
function, that will possibly have different values per ASIC.

This contains only a small number of bugfixes that would have gone to
you for 5.1-rc8 if that had happened, but instead I let them sit in
linux-next for an extra week just "to be sure".
The "big" patch here is for hyper-v, fixing a bug in their sysfs files
that could cause big problems. The others are all small fixes,
resolving reported issues that showed up in 5.1-rcs, plus some odd
'static' cleanups for the phy drivers that really should have waited for
-rc1. Most of these are tagged for the stable trees, so 5.1 will pick
them up.
All of these have been in linux-next for a while, with no reported
issues.

In case of error, the function eventfd_ctx_fdget() returns ERR_PTR() and
never returns NULL. The NULL test in the return value check should be
replaced with IS_ERR().
This issue was detected by using the Coccinelle software.

This patch adds the implementation of the HL_DEBUG_OP_SET_MODE opcode in
the DEBUG IOCTL.
It forces the user who wants to debug the device to set the device into
debug mode before he can configure the debug engines. The patch also makes
sure to disable debug mode upon user releasing FD, in case the user forgot
to disable debug mode.

This patch improves the error message that is shown when a new user tries
to open a new FD while there is already an existing user that is working
on the device.
It also improves the error message in case of missing firmware file.

This adds an x86-specific test for pinned cr4 bits. A successful test
will validate pinning and check the ROP-style call-middle-of-function
defense, if needed. For example, in the case of native_write_cr4()

The VMCI handle array has an integer overflow in
vmci_handle_arr_append_entry when it tries to expand the array. This can be
triggered from a guest, since the doorbell link hypercall doesn't impose a
limit on the number of doorbell handles that a VM can create in the
hypervisor, and these handles are stored in a handle array.
In this change, we introduce a mandatory max capacity for handle
arrays/lists to avoid excessive memory usage.

Some EE1004 implementations will not properly ack page selection
commands. They still set the page correctly, so there is no actual
error. Deal with this case gracefully by checking the currently
selected page after we receive a nack. If the page is set right then
we can continue.

With CONFIG_LKDTM=y and make OBJCOPY=llvm-objcopy, llvm-objcopy errors:
llvm-objcopy: error: --set-section-flags=.text conflicts with
--rename-section=.text=.rodata
Rather than support setting flags then renaming sections vs renaming
then setting flags, it's simpler to just change both at the same time
via --rename-section. Adding the load flag is required for GNU objcopy
to mark .rodata Type as PROGBITS after the rename.
This can be verified with:

The hypervisor might refuse to inflate pages. While the balloon driver
handles this scenario correctly, a refusal to inflate a 2MB pages might
cause the same page to be allocated again later just for its inflation
to be refused again. This wastes energy and time.
To avoid this situation, split the 2MB page to 4KB pages, and then try
to inflate each one individually. Most of the 4KB pages out of the 2MB
should be inflated successfully, and the balloon is likely to prevent
the scenario of repeated refused inflation.

Add a shrinker to the VMware balloon to prevent out-of-memory events.
We reuse the deflate logic for this matter. Deadlocks should not happen,
as no memory allocation is performed while the locks of the
communication (batch/page) and page-list are taken. In the unlikely
event in which the configuration semaphore is taken for write we bail
out and fail gracefully (causing processes to be killed).
Once the shrinker is called, inflation is postponed for few seconds.
The timeout is updated without any lock, but this should not cause any
races, as it is written and read atomically.
This feature is disabled by default, since it might cause performance
degradation.

Add support for compaction for VMware balloon. Since unlike the virtio
balloon, we also support huge-pages, which are not going through
compaction, we keep these pages in vmballoon and handle this list
separately. We use the same lock to protect both lists, as this lock is
not supposed to be contended.
Doing so also eliminates the need for the page_size lists. We update the
accounting as needed to reflect inflation, deflation and migration to be
reflected in vmstat.
Since VMware balloon now provides statistics for inflation, deflation
and migration in vmstat, select MEMORY_BALLOON in Kconfig.

'default n' is the default value for any bool or tristate Kconfig
setting so there is no need to write it explicitly.
Also since commit f467c5640c ("kconfig: only write '# CONFIG_FOO
is not set' for visible symbols") the Kconfig behavior is the same
regardless of 'default n' being present or not:

One side effect of (and the main motivation for) this change is making
the following two definitions behave exactly the same:
config FOO
bool
config FOO
bool
default n
With this change, neither of these will generate a
'# CONFIG_FOO is not set' line (assuming FOO isn't selected/implied).
That might make it clearer to people that a bare 'default n' is
redundant.

atmel_tclib is probed too late in the boot process to be able to use the
TCB as the boot clocksource. This is an issue for SoCs without the PIT
(sams70, samv70 and samv71 families) as they simply currently can't boot.
Get rid of the atmel_tclib dependency and probe everything on our own using
the correct device tree binding.
This also allows getting rid of ATMEL_TCB_CLKSRC_BLOCK and makes the driver
a bit more flexible as the TCB is not hardcoded in the kernel anymore.

Event_fd is only used in the driver frontend, so it does not
need to exist in the backend code. Relocate it to the frontend
and provide an opaque mechanism for consumers instead.

The OCXL driver contains both frontend code for interacting with userspace,
as well as backend code for interacting with the hardware.
This patch separates the backend code from the frontend so that it can be
used by other device drivers that communicate via OpenCAPI.
Relocate dev, cdev & sysfs files to the frontend code to allow external
drivers to maintain their own devices.
Reference counting on the device in the backend is replaced with kref
counting.
Move file & sysfs layer initialisation from core.c (backend) to
pci.c (frontend).
Create an ocxl_function oriented interface for initing devices &
enumerating AFUs.
