4d312ac057 x86/mm: Add early_memremap_pgprot_adjust() prototype
early_memremap_pgprot_adjust() is a __weak function with a local
prototype, but x86 has a custom implementation that does not
see the prototype, causing a W=1 warning:

arch/x86/mm/ioremap.c:785:17: error: no previous prototype for 'early_memremap_pgprot_adjust' [-Werror=missing-prototypes]

Move the declaration into the global linux/io.h header to avoid this.

bbc180a5ad mm: HUGE_VMAP arch support cleanup
This changes the awkward approach where architectures provide init
functions to determine which levels they can provide large mappings for,
to one where the arch is queried for each call.

This removes code and indirection, and allows constant-folding of dead
code for unsupported levels.

This also adds a prot argument to the arch query. This is unused
currently but could help with some architectures (e.g., some powerpc
processors can't map uncacheable memory with large pages).

b10eb2d509 asm-generic/io.h: implement pci_remap_cfgspace using ioremap_np
Now that we have ioremap_np(), we can make pci_remap_cfgspace() default
to it, falling back to ioremap() on platforms where it is not available.

Remove the arm64 implementation, since that is now redundant. Future
cleanups should be able to do the same for other arches, and eventually
make the generic pci_remap_cfgspace() unconditional.

7c566bb5e4 asm-generic/io.h: Add a non-posted variant of ioremap()
ARM64 currently defaults to posted MMIO (nGnRE), but some devices
require the use of non-posted MMIO (nGnRnE). Introduce a new ioremap()
variant to handle this case. ioremap_np() returns NULL on arches that
do not implement this variant.

sparc64 is the only architecture that needs to be touched directly,
because it includes neither of the generic io.h or iomap.h headers.

This adds the IORESOURCE_MEM_NONPOSTED flag, which maps to this
variant and marks a given resource as requiring non-posted mappings.
This is implemented in the resource system because it is a SoC-level
requirement, so existing drivers do not need special-case code to pick
this ioremap variant.

Then this is implemented in devres by introducing devm_ioremap_np(),
and making devm_ioremap_resource() automatically select this variant
when the resource has the IORESOURCE_MEM_NONPOSTED flag set.

which just maintains status quo (P4D huge map not supported) on x86,
arm64 and powerpc.

When HAVE_ARCH_HUGE_VMAP is enabled its just a simple check from the
arch about the support, hence runtime effects are minimal.

8f716c9b5f x86/mm: Add support to access boot related data in the clear
Boot data (such as EFI related data) is not encrypted when the system is
booted because UEFI/BIOS does not run with SME active. In order to access
this data properly it needs to be mapped decrypted.

Update early_memremap() to provide an arch specific routine to modify the
pagetable protection attributes before they are applied to the new
mapping. This is used to remove the encryption mask for boot related data.

Update memremap() to provide an arch specific routine to determine if RAM
remapping is allowed. RAM remapping will cause an encrypted mapping to be
generated. By preventing RAM remapping, ioremap_cache() will be used
instead, which will provide a decrypted mapping of the boot related data.

cf9ea8ca4a linux/io.h: Add pci_remap_cfgspace() interface
The PCI specifications (Rev 3.0, 3.2.5 "Transaction Ordering and Posting")
mandate non-posted configuration transactions. As further highlighted in
the PCIe specifications (4.0 - Rev0.3, "Ordering Considerations for the
Enhanced Configuration Access Mechanism"), through ECAM and ECAM-derivative
configuration mechanism, the memory mapped transactions from the host CPU
into Configuration Requests on the PCI express fabric may create ordering
problems for software because writes to memory address are typically posted
transactions (unless the architecture can enforce through virtual address
mapping non-posted write transactions behaviour) but writes to
Configuration Space are not posted on the PCI express fabric.

Current DT and ACPI host bridge controllers map PCI configuration space
(ECAM and ECAM-derivative) into the virtual address space through ioremap()
calls, that are non-cacheable device accesses on most architectures, but
may provide "bufferable" or "posted" write semantics in architecture like
eg ARM/ARM64 that allow ioremap'ed regions writes to be buffered in the bus
connecting the host CPU to the PCI fabric; this behaviour, as underlined in
the PCIe specifications, may trigger transactions ordering rules and must
be prevented.

Introduce a new generic and explicit API to create a memory mapping for
ECAM and ECAM-derivative config space area that defaults to
ioremap_nocache() (which should provide a sane default behaviour) but still
allowing architectures on which ioremap_nocache() results in posted write
transactions to override the function call with an arch specific
implementation that complies with the PCI specifications for configuration
transactions.

8ef4227615 x86/io: add interface to reserve io memtype for a resource range. (v1.1)
A recent change to the mm code in:
87744ab383 mm: fix cache mode tracking in vm_insert_mixed()

started enforcing checking the memory type against the registered list for
amixed pfn insertion mappings. It happens that the drm drivers for a number
of gpus relied on this being broken. Currently the driver only inserted
VRAM mappings into the tracking table when they came from the kernel,
and userspace mappings never landed in the table. This led to a regression
where all the mapping end up as UC instead of WC now.

I've considered a number of solutions but since this needs to be fixed
in fixes and not next, and some of the solutions were going to introduce
overhead that hadn't been there before I didn't consider them viable at
this stage. These mainly concerned hooking into the TTM io reserve APIs,
but these API have a bunch of fast paths I didn't want to unwind to add
this to.

The solution I've decided on is to add a new API like the arch_phys_wc
APIs (these would have worked but wc_del didn't take a range), and
use them from the drivers to add a WC compatible mapping to the table
for all VRAM on those GPUs. This means we can then create userspace
mapping that won't get degraded to UC.

v1.1: use CONFIG_X86_PAT + add some comments in io.h

9476df7d80 mm: introduce find_dev_pagemap()
There are several scenarios where we need to retrieve and update
metadata associated with a given devm_memremap_pages() mapping, and the
only lookup key available is a pfn in the range:

1/ We want to augment vmemmap_populate() (called via arch_add_memory())
   to allocate memmap storage from pre-allocated pages reserved by the
   device driver. At vmemmap_alloc_block_buf() time it grabs device pages
   rather than page allocator pages. This is in support of
   devm_memremap_pages() mappings where the memmap is too large to fit in
   main memory (i.e. large persistent memory devices).

2/ Taking a reference against the mapping when inserting device pages
   into the address_space radix of a given inode. This facilitates
   unmap_mapping_range() and truncate_inode_pages() operations when the
   driver is tearing down the mapping.

3/ get_user_pages() operations on ZONE_DEVICE memory require taking a
   reference against the mapping so that the driver teardown path can
   revoke and drain usage of device pages.

92281dee82 arch: introduce memremap()
Existing users of ioremap_cache() are mapping memory that is known in
advance to not have i/o side effects. These users are forced to cast
away the __iomem annotation, or otherwise neglect to fix the sparse
errors thrown when dereferencing pointers to this memory. Provide
memremap() as a non __iomem annotated ioremap_*() in the case when
ioremap is otherwise a pointer to cacheable memory. Empirically,
ioremap_<cacheable-type>() call sites are seeking memory-like semantics
(e.g. speculative reads, and prefetching permitted).

memremap() is a break from the ioremap implementation pattern of adding
a new memremap_<type>() for each mapping type and having silent
compatibility fall backs. Instead, the implementation defines flags
that are passed to the central memremap() and if a mapping type is not
supported by an arch memremap returns NULL.

We introduce a memremap prototype as a trivial wrapper of
ioremap_cache() and ioremap_wt(). Later, once all ioremap_cache() and
ioremap_wt() usage has been removed from drivers we teach archs to
implement arch_memremap() with the ability to strictly enforce the
mapping type.

0ddab1d2ed lib/ioremap.c: add huge I/O map capability interfaces
Add ioremap_pud_enabled() and ioremap_pmd_enabled(), which return 1 when
I/O mappings with pud/pmd are enabled on the kernel.

ioremap_huge_init() calls arch_ioremap_pud_supported() and
arch_ioremap_pmd_supported() to initialize the capabilities at boot-time.

A new kernel option "nohugeiomap" is also added, so that user can disable
the huge I/O map capabilities when necessary.

ce816fa88c Kconfig: rename HAS_IOPORT to HAS_IOPORT_MAP
If the renamed symbol is defined lib/iomap.c implements ioport_map and
ioport_unmap and currently (nearly) all platforms define the port
accessor functions outb/inb and friend unconditionally. So
HAS_IOPORT_MAP is the better name for this.

Consequently NO_IOPORT is renamed to NO_IOPORT_MAP.

The motivation for this change is to reintroduce a symbol HAS_IOPORT
that signals if outb/int et al are available. I will address that at
least one merge window later though to keep surprises to a minimum and
catch new introductions of (HAS|NO)_IOPORT.

The changes in this commit were done using:

	$ git grep -l -E '(NO|HAS)_IOPORT' | xargs perl -p -i -e 's/\b((?:CONFIG_)?(?:NO|HAS)_IOPORT)\b/$1_MAP/'

d0d98eedee Add arch_phys_wc_{add, del} to manipulate WC MTRRs if needed
Several drivers currently use mtrr_add through various #ifdef guards
and/or drm wrappers. The vast majority of them want to add WC MTRRs
on x86 systems and don't actually need the MTRR if PAT (i.e.
ioremap_wc, etc) are working.

arch_phys_wc_add and arch_phys_wc_del are new functions, available
on all architectures and configurations, that add WC MTRRs on x86 if
needed (and handle errors) and do nothing at all otherwise. They're
also easier to use than mtrr_add and mtrr_del, so the call sites can
be simplified.

As an added benefit, this will avoid wasting MTRRs and possibly
warning pointlessly on PAT-supporting systems.

ffa71f33a8 x86, ioremap: Fix incorrect physical address handling in PAE mode
Current x86 ioremap() doesn't handle physical address higher than
32-bit properly in X86_32 PAE mode. When physical address higher than
32-bit is passed to ioremap(), higher 32-bits in physical address is
cleared wrongly. Due to this bug, ioremap() can map wrong address to
linear address space.

In my case, 64-bit MMIO region was assigned to a PCI device (ioat
device) on my system. Because of the ioremap()'s bug, wrong physical
address (instead of MMIO region) was mapped to linear address space.
Because of this, loading ioatdma driver caused unexpected behavior
(kernel panic, kernel hangup, ...).

218f0aaee8 nommu: add ioremap_page_range()
lib/ioremap.c is presently only built in if CONFIG_MMU is set. While this
is reasonable, platforms that support both CONFIG_MMU=y or n need to be
able to call in to this regardless.

As none of the current nommu platforms do anything special with ioremap(),
we assume that it's always successful.

This fixes the SH-4 build with CONFIG_MMU=n.

9ac7849e35 devres: device resource management
Implement device resource management, in short, devres. A device
driver can allocate arbirary size of devres data which is associated
with a release function. On driver detach, release function is
invoked on the devres data, then, devres data is freed.

devreses are typed by associated release functions. Some devreses are
better represented by single instance of the type while others need
multiple instances sharing the same release function. Both usages are
supported.

devreses can be grouped using devres group such that a device driver
can easily release acquired resources halfway through initialization
or selectively release resources (e.g. resources for port 1 out of 4
ports).

This patch adds devres core including documentation and the following
managed interfaces.

* alloc/free	: devm_kzalloc(), devm_kzfree()
* IO region	: devm_request_region(), devm_release_region()
* IRQ		: devm_request_irq(), devm_free_irq()
* DMA		: dmam_alloc_coherent(), dmam_free_coherent(),
		  dmam_declare_coherent_memory(), dmam_pool_create(),

c27a0d75b3 [PATCH] Introduce __iowrite32_copy
This arch-independent routine copies data to a memory-mapped I/O region,
using 32-bit accesses. The naming is double-underscored to make it clear
that it does not guarantee write ordering, nor does it perform a memory
barrier afterwards; the kernel doc also explicitly states this. This style
of access is required by some devices.

This change also introduces include/linux/io.h, at Andrew's suggestion. It
only has one occupant at the moment, but is a logical destination for
oft-replicated contents of include/asm-*/{io,iomap}.h to migrate to.
