Jakub reported that ASSERT_EQ(cpu, i) in so_incoming_cpu.c seems to
fire somewhat randomly.
# # RUN so_incoming_cpu.before_reuseport.test3 ...
# # so_incoming_cpu.c:191:test3:Expected cpu (32) == i (0)
# # test3: Test terminated by assertion
# # FAIL so_incoming_cpu.before_reuseport.test3
# not ok 3 so_incoming_cpu.before_reuseport.test3
When the test failed, not-yet-accepted CLOSE_WAIT sockets received
SYN with a "challenging" SEQ number, which was sent from an unexpected
CPU that did not create the receiver.
The test basically does:
1. for each cpu:
1-1. create a server
1-2. set SO_INCOMING_CPU
2. for each cpu:
2-1. set cpu affinity
2-2. create some clients
2-3. let clients connect() to the server on the same cpu
2-4. close() clients
3. for each server:
3-1. accept() all child sockets
3-2. check if all children have the same SO_INCOMING_CPU with the server
The root cause was the close() in 2-4. and net.ipv4.tcp_tw_reuse.
In a loop of 2., close() changed the client state to FIN_WAIT_2, and
the peer transitioned to CLOSE_WAIT.
In another loop of 2., connect() happened to select the same port of
the FIN_WAIT_2 socket, and it was reused as the default value of
net.ipv4.tcp_tw_reuse is 2.
As a result, the new client sent SYN to the CLOSE_WAIT socket from
a different CPU, and the receiver's sk_incoming_cpu was overwritten
with unexpected CPU ID.
Also, the SYN had a different SEQ number, so the CLOSE_WAIT socket
responded with Challenge ACK. The new client properly returned RST
and effectively killed the CLOSE_WAIT socket.
This way, all clients were created successfully, but the error was
detected later by 3-2., ASSERT_EQ(cpu, i).
To avoid the failure, let's make sure that (i) the number of clients
is less than the number of available ports and (ii) such reuse never
happens.

The rules to link selftests are:
> $(OUTPUT)/%_ipv4: %.c
> $(LINK.c) $^ $(LDLIBS) -o $@
>
> $(OUTPUT)/%_ipv6: %.c
> $(LINK.c) -DIPV6_TEST $^ $(LDLIBS) -o $@
The intel test robot uses only selftest's Makefile, not the top linux
Makefile:
> make W=1 O=/tmp/kselftest -C tools/testing/selftests
So, $(LINK.c) is determined by environment, rather than by kernel
Makefiles. On my machine (as well as other people that ran tcp-ao
selftests) GNU/Make implicit definition does use $(LDFLAGS):
> [dima@Mindolluin ~]$ make -p -f/dev/null | grep '^LINK.c\>'
> make: *** No targets. Stop.
> LINK.c = $(CC) $(CFLAGS) $(CPPFLAGS) $(LDFLAGS) $(TARGET_ARCH)
But, according to build robot report, it's not the case for them.
While I could just avoid using pre-defined $(LINK.c), it's also used by
selftests/lib.mk by default.
Anyways, according to GNU/Make documentation [1], I should have used
$(LDLIBS) instead of $(LDFLAGS) in the first place, so let's just do it:
> LDFLAGS
> Extra flags to give to compilers when they are supposed to invoke
> the linker, ‘ld’, such as -L. Libraries (-lfoo) should be added
> to the LDLIBS variable instead.
> LDLIBS
> Library flags or names given to compilers when they are supposed
> to invoke the linker, ‘ld’. LOADLIBES is a deprecated (but still
> supported) alternative to LDLIBS. Non-library linker flags, such
> as -L, should go in the LDFLAGS variable.

The expression "source ../lib.sh" added to net/forwarding/lib.sh in commit
25ae948b44 ("selftests/net: add lib.sh") does not work for tests outside
net/forwarding which source net/forwarding/lib.sh (1). It also does not
work in some cases where only a subset of tests are exported (2).
Avoid the problems mentioned above by replacing the faulty expression with

Currently there is no test which checks that IPv6 extension header packets
successfully coalesce. This commit adds a test, which verifies two IPv6
packets with HBH extension headers do coalesce, and another test which
checks that packets with different extension header data do not coalesce
in GRO.
I changed the receive socket filter to accept a packet with one extension
header. This change exposed a bug in the fragment test -- the old BPF did
not accept the fragment packet. I updated correct_num_packets in the

In unsigned-md5 selftests ip_route_add() is not needed in
client_add_ip(): the route was pre-setup in __test_init() => link_init()
for subnet, rather than a specific ip-address.
Currently, __ip_route_add() mistakenly always sets VRF table
to RT_TABLE_MAIN - this seems to have sneaked in during unsigned-md5
tests debugging. That also explains, why ip_route_add_vrf() ignored
EEXIST, returned by fib6.
Yet, keep EEXIST ignoring in bench-lookups selftests as it's expected
that those selftests may add the same (duplicate) routes.

Some devices have errata due to which they cannot report ETH_ZLEN (60)
in the rx-min-frag-size. This was foreseen of course, and lldpad has
logic that when we request it to advertise addFragSize 0, it will round
it up to the lowest value that is _actually_ supported by the hardware.
The problem is that the selftest expects lldpad to report back to us the
same value as we requested.
Make the selftest smarter by figuring out on its own what is a

Trivial fix for out-of-tree build that I wasn't testing previously:
1. Create a directory for library object files, fixes:
> gcc lib/kconfig.c -Wall -O2 -g -D_GNU_SOURCE -fno-strict-aliasing -I ../../../../../usr/include/ -iquote /tmp/kselftest/kselftest/net/tcp_ao/lib -I ../../../../include/ -o /tmp/kselftest/kselftest/net/tcp_ao/lib/kconfig.o -c
> Assembler messages:
> Fatal error: can't create /tmp/kselftest/kselftest/net/tcp_ao/lib/kconfig.o: No such file or directory
> make[1]: *** [Makefile:46: /tmp/kselftest/kselftest/net/tcp_ao/lib/kconfig.o] Error 1
2. Include $(KHDR_INCLUDES) that's exported by selftests/Makefile, fixes:
> In file included from lib/kconfig.c:6:
> lib/aolib.h:320:45: warning: ‘struct tcp_ao_add’ declared inside parameter list will not be visible outside of this definition or declaration
> 320 | extern int test_prepare_key_sockaddr(struct tcp_ao_add *ao, const char *alg,
> | ^~~~~~~~~~
...
3. While at here, clean-up $(KSFT_KHDR_INSTALL): it's not needed anymore
since commit f2745dc0ba ("selftests: stop using KSFT_KHDR_INSTALL")
4. Also, while at here, drop .DEFAULT_GOAL definition: that has a
self-explaining comment, that was valid when I made these selftests
compile on local v4.19 kernel, but not needed since
commit 8ce72dc325 ("selftests: fix headers_install circular dependency")

MPC backups tests will skip unexpected sometimes (For example, when
compiling kernel with an older version of gcc, such as gcc-8), since
static functions like mptcp_subflow_send_ack also be listed in
/proc/kallsyms, with a 't' in front of it, not 'T' ('T' is for a global
function):
> grep "mptcp_subflow_send_ack" /proc/kallsyms
0000000000000000 T __pfx___mptcp_subflow_send_ack
0000000000000000 T __mptcp_subflow_send_ack
0000000000000000 t __pfx_mptcp_subflow_send_ack
0000000000000000 t mptcp_subflow_send_ack
In this case, mptcp_lib_kallsyms_doesnt_have "mptcp_subflow_send_ack$"
will be false, MPC backups tests will skip. This is not what we expected.
The correct logic here should be: if mptcp_subflow_send_ack is not a
global function in /proc/kallsyms, do these MPC backups tests. So a 'T'
must be added in front of mptcp_subflow_send_ack.

Check multiple keys on a socket:
- rotation on closed socket
- current/rnext operations shouldn't be possible on listen sockets
- current/rnext key set should be the one, that's used on connect()
- key rotations with pseudo-random generated keys
- copying matching keys on connect() and on accept()
At this moment there are 3 tests that are "expected" to fail: a kernel
fix is needed to improve the situation, they are marked XFAIL.

Check that a rare functionality of TCP named self-connect works with
TCP-AO. This "under the cover" also checks TCP simultaneous connect
(TCP_SYN_RECV socket state), which would be harder to check other ways.
In order to verify that it's indeed TCP simultaneous connect, check
the counters TCPChallengeACK and TCPSYNChallenge.
Sample of the output:
> # ./self-connect_ipv6

Check that both active and passive reset works and correctly sign
segments with TCP-AO or don't send RSTs if not possible to sign.
A listening socket with backlog = 0 gets one connection in accept
queue, another in syn queue. Once the server/listener socket is
forcibly closed, client sockets aren't connected to anything.
In regular situation they would receive RST on any segment, but
with TCP-AO as there's no listener, no AO-key and unknown ISNs,
no RST should be sent.
And "passive" reset, where RST is sent on reply for some segment
(tcp_v{4,6}_send_reset()) - there use TCP_REPAIR to corrupt SEQ numbers,
which later results in TCP-AO signed RST, which will be verified and
client socket will get EPIPE.
No TCPAORequired/TCPAOBad segments are expected during these tests.

Provide functions to create selftests dedicated to TCP-AO.
They can run in parallel, as they use temporary net namespaces.
They can be very specific to the feature being tested.
This will allow to create a lot of TCP-AO tests, without complicating
one binary with many --options and to create scenarios, that are
hard to put in bash script that uses one binary.

Same init_rng() in both tests. The function reads /dev/urandom to
initialize srand(). In case of failure, it falls back onto the
entropy in the uninitialized variable. Not sure if this is on purpose.
But failure reading urandom should be rare, so just fail hard. While
at it, convert to getrandom(). Which man 4 random suggests is simpler
and more robust.

Commit 29f834aa32 ("net_sched: sch_fq: add 3 bands and WRR
scheduling") introduces multiple traffic bands, and per-band maximum
packet count.
Per-band limits ensures that packets in one class cannot fill the
entire qdisc and so cause DoS to the traffic in the other classes.
Verify this behavior:
1. set the limit to 10 per band
2. send 20 pkts on band A: verify that 10 are queued, 10 dropped
3. send 20 pkts on band A: verify that 0 are queued, 20 dropped
4. send 20 pkts on band B: verify that 10 are queued, 10 dropped
Packets must remain queued for a period to trigger this behavior.
Use SO_TXTIME to store packets for 100 msec.
The test reuses existing upstream test infra. The script is a fork of
cmsg_time.sh. The scripts call cmsg_sender.
The test extends cmsg_sender with two arguments:
* '-P' SO_PRIORITY
There is a subtle difference between IPv4 and IPv6 stack behavior:
PF_INET/IP_TOS sets IP header bits and sk_priority
PF_INET6/IPV6_TCLASS sets IP header bits BUT NOT sk_priority
* '-n' num pkts
Send multiple packets in quick succession.
I first attempted a for loop in the script, but this is too slow in
virtualized environments, causing flakiness as the 100ms timeout is
reached and packets are dequeued.
Also do not wait for timestamps to be queued unless timestamps are
requested.

The problem is really in the wrong expectations for the RST checks
implied by the csum validation. Note that the same check is repeated

pass successfully.
Address the issue explicitly setting the correct expectation for

The second input parameter of 'wait_rm_addr/sf $1 1' is misused. If it's
1, wait_rm_addr/sf will never break, and will loop ten times, then
'wait_rm_addr/sf' equals to 'sleep 1'. This delay time is too long,
which can sometimes make the tests fail.
A better way to use wait_rm_addr/sf is to use rm_addr/sf_count to obtain
the current value, and then pass into wait_rm_addr/sf.

The 0.6.1 version was released in May of 2021, so should be

The alternative that Paolo proposed was to only skip when the
add-flow is being run. This would be okay for most cases, except
if a future test case is added that needs to do flow dump without
an associated add (just guessing). In that case, it could also be
broken and we would need additional skip logic anyway. Just draw

verbose functionality i.e. print executed commands and their outputs
Many commands silence or redirect output. This can be removed since
the verbose helper function captures output anyway and only outputs it
if VERBOSE is true. Similarly, the helper command for pipes to grep

the traditional interface naming scheme (eth0) is deprecated, therefore
it cannot be assumed that the eth0 interface exists on the host.

Add a test case for IPv6 source address delete.
As David suggested, add tests:
- Single device using src address
- Two devices with the same source address
- VRF with single device using src address
- VRF with two devices using src address
As Ido points out, in IPv6, the preferred source address is looked up in
the same VRF as the first nexthop device. This will give us similar results
to IPv4 if the route is installed in the same VRF as the nexthop device, but
not when the nexthop device is enslaved to a different VRF. So add tests:
- src address and nexthop dev in same VR
- src address and nexthop device in different VRF
The link local address delete logic is different from the global address.
It should only affect the associate device it bonds to. So add tests cases
for link local address testing.
Here is the test result:
IPv6 delete address route tests
Single device using src address
TEST: Prefsrc removed when src address removed on other device [ OK ]
Two devices with the same source address

This selftest is designed for testing the support of NEXT-C-SID flavor
for SRv6 End.X behavior. It instantiates a virtual network composed of
several nodes: hosts and SRv6 routers. Each node is realized using a
network namespace that is properly interconnected to others through veth
pairs, according to the topology depicted in the selftest script file.
The test considers SRv6 routers implementing IPv4/IPv6 L3 VPNs leveraged
by hosts for communicating with each other. Such routers i) apply
different SRv6 Policies to the traffic received from connected hosts,
considering the IPv4 or IPv6 protocols; ii) use the NEXT-C-SID
compression mechanism for encoding several SRv6 segments within a single
128-bit SID address, referred to as a Compressed SID (C-SID) container.
The NEXT-C-SID is provided as a "flavor" of the SRv6 End.X behavior,
enabling it to properly process the C-SID containers. The correct
execution of the enabled NEXT-C-SID SRv6 End.X behavior is verified
through reachability tests carried out between hosts belonging to the
same VPN.

This test verifies whether the encapsulated packets have the correct
configured TTL. It does so by sending ICMP packets through the test
topology and mirroring them to a gretap netdevice. On a busy host
however, more than just the test ICMP packets may end up flowing
through the topology, get mirrored, and counted. This leads to
potential spurious failures as the test observes much more mirrored
packets than the sent test packets, and assumes a bug.
Fix this by tightening up the mirror action match. Change it from
matchall to a flower classifier matching on ICMP packets specifically.

This adds an explicit drop action. This is used by OVS to drop packets
for which it cannot determine what to do. An explicit action in the
kernel allows passing the reason _why_ the packet is being dropped or
zero to indicate no particular error happened (i.e: OVS intentionally
dropped the packet).
Since the error codes coming from userspace mean nothing for the kernel,
we squash all of them into only two drop reasons:
- OVS_DROP_EXPLICIT_WITH_ERROR to indicate a non-zero value was passed
- OVS_DROP_EXPLICIT to indicate a zero value was passed (no error)
e.g. trace all OVS dropped skbs
# perf trace -e skb:kfree_skb --filter="reason >= 0x30000"
[..]
106.023 ping/2465 skb:kfree_skb(skbaddr: 0xffffa0e8765f2000, \
location:0xffffffffc0d9b462, protocol: 2048, reason: 196611)
reason: 196611 --> 0x30003 (OVS_DROP_EXPLICIT)
Also, this patch allows ovs-dpctl.py to add explicit drop actions as:

"drop(0)" -> explicit non-error action drop

The test installs filters that match on various IP fragments (e.g., no

A netlink dump callback can return a positive number to signal that more
information needs to be dumped or zero to signal that the dump is
complete. In the second case, the core netlink code will append the
NLMSG_DONE message to the skb in order to indicate to user space that
the dump is complete.
The nexthop bucket dump callback always returns a positive number if
nexthop buckets were filled in the provided skb, even if the dump is
complete. This means that a dump will span at least two recvmsg() calls
as long as nexthop buckets are present. In the last recvmsg() call the
dump callback will not fill in any nexthop buckets because the previous
call indicated that the dump should restart from the last dumped nexthop
ID plus one.

mptcp_join 'implicit EP' test currently fails when using ip mptcp:
$ ./mptcp_join.sh -iI
<snip>
001 implicit EP creation[fail] expected '10.0.2.2 10.0.2.2 id 1 implicit' found '10.0.2.2 id 1 rawflags 10 '
Error: too many addresses or duplicate one: -22.
ID change is prevented[fail] expected '10.0.2.2 10.0.2.2 id 1 implicit' found '10.0.2.2 id 1 rawflags 10 '
modif is allowed[fail] expected '10.0.2.2 10.0.2.2 id 1 signal' found '10.0.2.2 id 1 signal '
This happens because of two reasons:
- iproute v6.3.0 does not support the implicit flag, fixed with
iproute2-next commit 3a2535a41854 ("mptcp: add support for implicit
flag")
- pm_nl_check_endpoint wrongly expects the ip address to be repeated two
times in iproute output, and does not account for a final whitespace
in it.
This fixes the issue trimming the whitespace in the output string and
removing the double address in the expected string.

mptcp_join 'delete and re-add' test fails when using ip mptcp:
$ ./mptcp_join.sh -iI
<snip>
002 delete and re-add before delete[ ok ]
mptcp_info subflows=1 [ ok ]
Error: argument "ADDRESS" is wrong: invalid for non-zero id address
after delete[fail] got 2:2 subflows expected 1
This happens because endpoint delete includes an ip address while id is
not 0, contrary to what is indicated in the ip mptcp man page:
"When used with the delete id operation, an IFADDR is only included when
the ID is 0."
This fixes the issue using the $addr variable in pm_nl_del_endpoint()
only when id is 0.

TCP might get stuck if a nonlinear skb exceeds the path MTU,
icmp error contains an incorrect icmp checksum in that case.
Extend the existing test for vxlan to also send at least 1MB worth of
data via TCP in addition to the existing 'large icmp packet adds
route exception'.
On my test VM this fails due to 0-size output file without
"tunnels: fix kasan splat when generating ipv4 pmtu error".

generally would require using a full ovs-vswitchd to get working. Add a

The default value for the mask actually depends on the value (e.g: if
the value is non-null, the default is full-mask), so change the convert
functions to accept the full, possibly masked string and let them figure
out how to parse the different values.
Also, implement size-aware int parsing.
With this patch we can now express flows such as the following:
"eth(src=0a:ca:fe:ca:fe:0a/ff:ff:00:00:ff:00)"
"eth(src=0a:ca:fe:ca:fe:0a)" -> mask = ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
"ipv4(src=192.168.1.1)" -> mask = 255.255.255.255
"ipv4(src=192.168.1.1/24)"
"ipv4(src=192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0)"
"tcp(src=8080)" -> mask = 0xffff

The openvswitch self-tests can test much of the control side of
the module (ie: what a vswitchd implementation would process),
but the actual packet forwarding cases aren't supported, making
the testing of limited value.
Add some flow parsing and an initial ARP based test case using
arping utility. This lets us display flows, add some basic
output flows with simple matches, and test against a known good
forwarding case.
