Daniel Vetter 4355355912 fbcon: Consistently protect deferred_takeover with console_lock()
This shouldn't be a problem in practice since until we've actually
taken over the console there's nothing we've registered with the
console/vt subsystem, so the exit/unbind path that check this can't
do the wrong thing. But it's confusing, so fix it by moving it a tad
later.

Daniel Vetter 04933a294d fbcon: use lock_fb_info in fbcon_open/release
Now we get to the real motiviation, because fbmem.c insists that
that's the right lock for these.

Ofc fbcon.c has a lot more places where it probably should call
lock_fb_info(). But looking at fbmem.c at least most of these seem to
be protected by console_lock() too, which is probably what papers over
any issues.

Note that this means we're shuffling around a bit the locking sections
for some of the console takeover and unbind paths, but not all:
- console binding/unbinding from the console layer never with
lock_fb_info
- unbind (as opposed to unlink) never bother with lock_fb_info

Also the real serialization against set_par and set_pan are still
doing by wrapping the entire ioctl code in console_lock(). So this
shuffling shouldn't be worse than what we had from a "can you trigger
races?" pov, but it's at least clearer.

Daniel Vetter d443d93864 fbcon: move more common code into fb_open()
No idea why con2fb_acquire_newinfo() initializes much less than
fbcon_startup(), but so be it. From a quick look most of the
un-initialized stuff should be fairly harmless, but who knows.

Note that the error handling for the con2fb_acquire_newinfo() failure
case was very strange: Callers updated con2fb_map to the new value
before calling this function, but upon error con2fb_acquire_newinfo
reset it to the old value. Since I removed the call to fbcon_release
anyway that strange error path was sticking out like a sore thumb,
hence I removed it. Which also allows us to remove the oldidx
parameter from that function.

v2: Explain what's going on with oldidx and error paths (Sam)

v3: Drop unused variable (0day)

v4: Rebased over bisect fix in previous patch, unchagend end result.

Daniel Vetter bd6026a8c4 fbcon: Extract fbcon_open/release helpers
There's two minor behaviour changes in here:
- in error paths we now consistently call fb_ops->fb_release
- fb_release really can't fail (fbmem.c ignores it too) and there's no
reasonable cleanup we can do anyway.

Note that everything in fbcon.c is protected by the big console_lock()
lock (especially all the global variables), so the minor changes in
ordering of setup/cleanup do not matter.

Daniel Vetter 3b0fb6ab25 fbcon: Use delayed work for cursor
Allows us to delete a bunch of hand-rolled stuff using a timer plus a
separate work). Also to simplify the code we initialize the
cursor_work completely when we allocate the fbcon_ops structure,
instead of trying to cope with console re-initialization.

The motiviation here is that fbcon code stops using the fb_info.queue,
which helps with locking issues around cleanup and all that in a later
patch.

Also note that this allows us to ditch the hand-rolled work cleanup in
fbcon_exit - we already call fbcon_del_cursor_timer, which takes care
of everything. Plus this was racy anyway.

Daniel Vetter 9ad5cc9bcf fbdev/sysfs: Fix locking
fb_set_var requires we hold the fb_info lock. Or at least this now
matches what the ioctl does ...

Note that ps3fb and sh_mobile_lcdcfb are busted in different ways here,
but I will not fix them up.

Also in practice this isn't a big deal, because really variable fbdev
state is actually protected by console_lock (because fbcon just
doesn't bother with lock_fb_info() at all), and lock_fb_info
protecting anything is really just a neat lie. But that's a much
bigger fish to fry.

Daniel Vetter 9b0a490e71 fbcon: delete delayed loading code
Before

commit 6104c37094

Date: Tue Aug 1 17:32:07 2017 +0200

fbcon: Make fbcon a built-time depency for fbdev

it was possible to load fbcon and fbdev drivers in any order, which
means that fbcon init had to handle the case where fbdev drivers where
already registered.

This is no longer possible, hence delete that code.

Note that the exit case is a bit more complex and will be done in a
separate patch.

Since I had to audit the entire fbcon load code I also spotted a wrong
function name in a comment in fbcon_startup(), which this patch also
fixes.

v2: Explain why we also fix the comment (Sam)

Daniel Vetter 409d6c95f9 fbcon: Introduce wrapper for console->fb_info lookup
Half of it is protected by console_lock, but the other half is a lot
more awkward: Registration/deregistration of fbdev are serialized, but
we don't really clear out anything in con2fb_map and so there's
potential for use-after free mixups.

First step is to encapsulate the lookup.

The bug [1] was introduced by commit 27599aacba ("fbdev: Hot-unplug

have an underlying platform device, which can be hot-unplugged
before loading the native graphics driver. OF framebuffers do not
(yet) have that device. Fix the code by unregistering the framebuffer
as before without a hot unplug.

Tested with 5.17 on qemu ppc64le emulation.

Linus Torvalds 266d17a8c0 Driver core changes for 5.18-rc1
Here is the set of driver core changes for 5.18-rc1.

Not much here, primarily it was a bunch of cleanups and small updates:
 	- kobj_type cleanups for default_groups
 	- documentation updates
 	- firmware loader minor changes
 	- component common helper added and take advantage of it in many
drivers (the largest part of this pull request).

There will be a merge conflict in drivers/power/supply/ab8500_chargalg.c
with your tree, the merge conflict should be easy (take all the
 changes).

All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
 problems.

Thomas Zimmermann 2a81dba4b5 fbdev: Fix cfb_imageblit() for arbitrary image widths
Commit 0d03011894 ("fbdev: Improve performance of cfb_imageblit()")
broke cfb_imageblit() for image widths that are not aligned to 8-bit
boundaries. Fix this by handling the trailing pixels on each line
separately. The performance improvements in the original commit do not
regress by this change.

Linus Torvalds 6b1f86f8e9 Filesystem folio changes for 5.18
Primarily this series converts some of the address_space operations
to take a folio instead of a page.

->is_partially_uptodate() takes a folio instead of a page and changes the
type of the 'from' and 'count' arguments to make it obvious they're bytes.
->invalidatepage() becomes ->invalidate_folio() and has a similar type change.
 ->launder_page() becomes ->launder_folio()
->set_page_dirty() becomes ->dirty_folio() and adds the address_space as
 an argument.

There are a couple of other misc changes up front that weren't worth
separating into their own pull request.

Linus Torvalds ad9c6ee642 spi: Updates for v5.18
The overwhelming bulk of this pull request is a change from Uwe
Kleine-König which changes the return type of the remove() function to
void as part of some wider work he's doing to do this for all bus types,
causing updates to most SPI device drivers. The branch with that on has
been cross merged with a couple of other trees which added new SPI
drivers this cycle, I'm not expecting any build issues resulting from
 the change.

Otherwise it's been a relatively quiet release with some new device
support, a few minor features and the welcome completion of the
conversion of the subsystem to use GPIO descriptors rather than numbers:

  - Change return type of remove() to void.
  - Completion of the conversion of SPI controller drivers to use GPIO
    descriptors rather than numbers.
  - Quite a few DT schema conversions.
  - Support for multiple SPI devices on a bus in ACPI systems.
  - Big overhaul of the PXA2xx SPI driver.
  - Support for AMD AMDI0062, Intel Raptor Lake, Mediatek MT7986 and
MT8186, nVidia Tegra210 and Tegra234, Renesas RZ/V2L, Tesla FSD and

Figure out the race happens when one process is adding &page->lru into
the pagelist tail in fb_deferred_io_mkwrite(), another process is
re-initializing the same &page->lru in fb_deferred_io_fault(), which is
not protected by the lock.

This fix is to init all the page lists one time during initialization,
it not only fixes the list corruption, but also avoids INIT_LIST_HEAD()
redundantly.

Thomas Zimmermann 8c30e2d81b fbdev: Don't sort deferred-I/O pages by default
Fbdev's deferred I/O sorts all dirty pages by default, which incurs a
significant overhead. Make the sorting step optional and update the few
drivers that require it. Use a FIFO list by default.

Most fbdev drivers with deferred I/O build a bounding rectangle around
the dirty pages or simply flush the whole screen. The only two affected
DRM drivers, generic fbdev and vmwgfx, both use a bounding rectangle.
In those cases, the exact order of the pages doesn't matter. The other
drivers look at the page index or handle pages one-by-one. The patch
sets the sort_pagelist flag for those, even though some of them would
probably work correctly without sorting. Driver maintainers should update
their driver accordingly.

Sorting pages by memory offset for deferred I/O performs an implicit
bubble-sort step on the list of dirty pages. The algorithm goes through
the list of dirty pages and inserts each new page according to its
index field. Even worse, list traversal always starts at the first
entry. As video memory is most likely updated scanline by scanline, the
algorithm traverses through the complete list for each updated page.

For example, with 1024x768x32bpp each page covers exactly one scanline.
Writing a single screen update from top to bottom requires updating
768 pages. With an average list length of 384 entries, a screen update
creates (768 * 384 =) 294912 compare operation.

Fix this by making the sorting step opt-in and update the few drivers
that require it. All other drivers work with unsorted page lists. Pages
are appended to the list. Therefore, in the common case of writing the
framebuffer top to bottom, pages are still sorted by offset, which may
have a positive effect on performance.

Playing a video [1] in mplayer's benchmark mode shows the difference
(i7-4790, FullHD, simpledrm, kernel with debugging).

mplayer -benchmark -nosound -vo fbdev ./big_buck_bunny_720p_stereo.ogg

With sorted page lists:

  BENCHMARKs: VC: 32.960s VO: 73.068s A: 0.000s Sys: 2.413s = 108.441s
  BENCHMARK%: VC: 30.3947% VO: 67.3802% A: 0.0000% Sys: 2.2251% = 100.0000%

With unsorted page lists:

  BENCHMARKs: VC: 31.005s VO: 42.889s A: 0.000s Sys: 2.256s = 76.150s
  BENCHMARK%: VC: 40.7156% VO: 56.3219% A: 0.0000% Sys: 2.9625% = 100.0000%

VC shows the overhead of video decoding, VO shows the overhead of the
video output. Using unsorted page lists reduces the benchmark's run time
by ~32s/~25%.

spi: make remove callback a void function
The value returned by an spi driver's remove function is mostly ignored.
(Only an error message is printed if the value is non-zero that the
error is ignored.)

So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. This
way driver authors are not tempted to assume that passing an error to
the upper layer is a good idea. All drivers are adapted accordingly.
There is no intended change of behaviour, all callbacks were prepared to
return 0 before.

Yizhuo Zhai 68e8cc2a23 fbdev: fbmem: Fix the implicit type casting
In function do_fb_ioctl(), the "arg" is the type of unsigned long,
and in "case FBIOBLANK:" this argument is casted into an int before
passig to fb_blank(). In fb_blank(), the comparision
if (blank > FB_BLANK_POWERDOWN) would be bypass if the original
"arg" is a large number, which is possible because it comes from
the user input. Fix this by adding the check before the function
call.

Helge Deller a3f781a9d6 fbcon: Add option to enable legacy hardware acceleration
Add a config option CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE_LEGACY_ACCELERATION to
enable bitblt and fillrect hardware acceleration in the framebuffer
console. If disabled, such acceleration will not be used, even if it is
supported by the graphics hardware driver.

If you plan to use DRM as your main graphics output system, you should
disable this option since it will prevent compiling in code which isn't
used later on when DRM takes over.

For all other configurations, e.g. if none of your graphic cards support
DRM (yet), DRM isn't available for your architecture, or you can't be
sure that the graphic card in the target system will support DRM, you
most likely want to enable this option.

In the non-accelerated case (e.g. when DRM is used), the inlined
fb_scrollmode() function is hardcoded to return SCROLL_REDRAW and as such the
compiler is able to optimize much unneccesary code away.

In this v3 patch version I additionally changed the GETVYRES() and GETVXRES()
macros to take a pointer to the fbcon_display struct. This fixes the build when
console rotation is enabled and helps the compiler again to optimize out code.

Helge Deller 87ab9f6b74 Revert "fbcon: Disable accelerated scrolling"
This reverts commit 39aead8373.

Revert the first (of 2) commits which disabled scrolling acceleration in
fbcon/fbdev. It introduced a regression for fbdev-supported graphic cards
because of the performance penalty by doing screen scrolling by software
instead of using the existing graphic card 2D hardware acceleration.

Console scrolling acceleration was disabled by dropping code which
checked at runtime the driver hardware capabilities for the
BINFO_HWACCEL_COPYAREA or FBINFO_HWACCEL_FILLRECT flags and if set, it
enabled scrollmode SCROLL_MOVE which uses hardware acceleration to move
screen contents. After dropping those checks scrollmode was hard-wired
to SCROLL_REDRAW instead, which forces all graphic cards to redraw every
character at the new screen position when scrolling.

This change effectively disabled all hardware-based scrolling acceleration for
ALL drivers, because now all kind of 2D hardware acceleration (bitblt,
fillrect) in the drivers isn't used any longer.

The original commit message mentions that only 3 DRM drivers (nouveau, omapdrm
and gma500) used hardware acceleration in the past and thus code for checking
and using scrolling acceleration is obsolete.

This statement is NOT TRUE, because beside the DRM drivers there are around 35
other fbdev drivers which depend on fbdev/fbcon and still provide hardware
acceleration for fbdev/fbcon.

The original commit message also states that syzbot found lots of bugs in fbcon
and thus it's "often the solution to just delete code and remove features".
This is true, and the bugs - which actually affected all users of fbcon,
including DRM - were fixed, or code was dropped like e.g. the support for
software scrollback in vgacon (commit 973c096f6a).

So to further analyze which bugs were found by syzbot, I've looked through all
patches in drivers/video which were tagged with syzbot or syzkaller back to
year 2005. The vast majority fixed the reported issues on a higher level, e.g.
when screen is to be resized, or when font size is to be changed. The few ones
which touched driver code fixed a real driver bug, e.g. by adding a check.

But NONE of those patches touched code of either the SCROLL_MOVE or the
SCROLL_REDRAW case.

That means, there was no real reason why SCROLL_MOVE had to be ripped-out and
just SCROLL_REDRAW had to be used instead. The only reason I can imagine so far
was that SCROLL_MOVE wasn't used by DRM and as such it was assumed that it
could go away. That argument completely missed the fact that SCROLL_MOVE is
still heavily used by fbdev (non-DRM) drivers.

Some people mention that using memcpy() instead of the hardware acceleration is
pretty much the same speed. But that's not true, at least not for older graphic
cards and machines where we see speed decreases by factor 10 and more and thus
this change leads to console responsiveness way worse than before.

That's why the original commit is to be reverted. By reverting we
reintroduce hardware-based scrolling acceleration and fix the
performance regression for fbdev drivers.

There isn't any impact on DRM when reverting those patches.

Dan Carpenter 78482af095 video: fbdev: fbcvt.c: fix printing in fb_cvt_print_name()
This code has two bugs:
1) "cnt" is 255 but the size of the buffer is 256 so the last byte is
   not used.
2) If we try to print more than 255 characters then "cnt" will be
negative and that will trigger a WARN() in snprintf(). The fix for
this is to use scnprintf() instead of snprintf().

We can re-write this code to be cleaner:
1) Rename "offset" to "off" because that's shorter.
2) Get rid of the "cnt" variable and just use "size - off" directly.
3) Get rid of the "read" variable and just increment "off" directly.

Thomas Zimmermann 27599aacba fbdev: Hot-unplug firmware fb devices on forced removal
Hot-unplug all firmware-framebuffer devices as part of removing
them via remove_conflicting_framebuffers() et al. Releases all
memory regions to be acquired by native drivers.

Firmware, such as EFI, install a framebuffer while posting the
computer. After removing the firmware-framebuffer device from fbdev,
a native driver takes over the hardware and the firmware framebuffer
becomes invalid.

Firmware-framebuffer drivers, specifically simplefb, don't release
their device from Linux' device hierarchy. It still owns the firmware
framebuffer and blocks the native drivers from loading. This has been
observed in the vmwgfx driver. [1]

Initiating a device removal (i.e., hot unplug) as part of
remove_conflicting_framebuffers() removes the underlying device and
returns the memory range to the system.

Michael Kelley 9ff5549b1d video: hyperv_fb: Fix validation of screen resolution
In the WIN10 version of the Synthetic Video protocol with Hyper-V,
Hyper-V reports a list of supported resolutions as part of the protocol
negotiation. The driver calculates the maximum width and height from
the list of resolutions, and uses those maximums to validate any screen
resolution specified in the video= option on the kernel boot line.

This method of validation is incorrect. For example, the list of
supported resolutions could contain 1600x1200 and 1920x1080, both of
which fit in an 8 Mbyte frame buffer. But calculating the max width
and height yields 1920 and 1200, and 1920x1200 resolution does not fit
in an 8 Mbyte frame buffer. Unfortunately, this resolution is accepted,
causing a kernel fault when the driver accesses memory outside the
frame buffer.

Instead, validate the specified screen resolution by calculating
its size, and comparing against the frame buffer size. Delete the
code for calculating the max width and height from the list of
resolutions, since these max values have no use. Also add the
frame buffer size to the info message to aid in understanding why
a resolution might be rejected.

video: vga16fb: Fix logic that checks for the display standard
The vga16fb framebuffer driver supports both Enhanced Graphics Adapter
(EGA) and Video Graphics Array (VGA) 16 color graphic cards.

But the logic to check whether the EGA or VGA standard are used is not
correct. It just checks if screen_info.orig_video_isVGA is set, but it
should check if is set to VIDEO_TYPE_VGAC instead.

This means that it assumes to be VGA even if is set to VIDEO_TYPE_EGAC.

All non-x86 architectures though treat orig_video_isVGA as a boolean so
only do the change for x86 and keep the old logic for the other arches.

Javier Martinez Canillas 0499f419b7
video: vga16fb: Only probe for EGA and VGA 16 color graphic cards
The vga16fb framebuffer driver only supports Enhanced Graphics Adapter
(EGA) and Video Graphics Array (VGA) 16 color graphic cards.

But it doesn't check if the adapter is one of those or if a VGA16 mode
is used. This means that the driver will be probed even if a VESA BIOS
Extensions (VBE) or Graphics Output Protocol (GOP) interface is used.

This issue has been present for a long time but it was only exposed by
commit d391c58271 ("drivers/firmware: move x86 Generic System
Framebuffers support") since the platform device registration to match
the {vesa, efi}fb drivers is done later as a consequence of that change.

All non-x86 architectures though treat orig_video_isVGA as a boolean so
only do the supported video mode check for x86 and not for other arches.

Juergen Gross 37a72b08a3 xen: add "not_essential" flag to struct xenbus_driver
When booting the xenbus driver will wait for PV devices to have
connected to their backends before continuing. The timeout is different
between essential and non-essential devices.

Non-essential devices are identified by their nodenames directly in the
xenbus driver, which requires to update this list in case a new device
type being non-essential is added (this was missed for several types
in the past).

In order to avoid this problem, add a "not_essential" flag to struct
xenbus_driver which can be set to "true" by the respective frontend.

Set this flag for the frontends currently regarded to be not essential
(vkbs and vfb) and use it for testing in the xenbus driver.

fbdev: Prevent probing generic drivers if a FB is already registered
The efifb and simplefb drivers just render to a pre-allocated frame buffer
and rely on the display hardware being initialized before the kernel boots.

But if another driver already probed correctly and registered a fbdev, the
generic drivers shouldn't be probed since an actual driver for the display
hardware is already present.

This is more likely to occur after commit d391c58271 ("drivers/firmware:
move x86 Generic System Framebuffers support") since the "efi-framebuffer"
and "simple-framebuffer" platform devices are registered at a later time.

This is due to 'dcbz' instruction being used on non-cached memory.
'dcbz' instruction is used by memset() to zeroize a complete
cacheline at once, and memset() is not expected to be used on non
cached memory.

When performing a 'sparse' check on fbdev driver, it also appears
that the use of memset() is unexpected:

drivers/video/fbdev/chipsfb.c:334:17: warning: incorrect type in argument 1 (different address spaces)
  drivers/video/fbdev/chipsfb.c:334:17: expected void *
drivers/video/fbdev/chipsfb.c:334:17: got char [noderef] __iomem *screen_base
drivers/video/fbdev/chipsfb.c:334:15: warning: memset with byte count of 1048576

Use fb_memset() instead of memset(). fb_memset() is defined as
memset_io() for powerpc.

Mark Brown 11b8e2bb98 video: fbdev: gbefb: Only instantiate device when built for IP32
The gbefb driver not only registers a driver but also the device for that
driver. This is all well and good when run on the IP32 machines that are
supported by the driver but since the driver supports building with
COMPILE_TEST we might also be building on other platforms which do not have
this hardware and will crash instantiating the driver. Add an IS_ENABLED()
check so we compile out the device registration if we don't have the Kconfig
option for the machine enabled.

Arnd Bergmann ec7cc3f74b fbdev: simplefb: fix Kconfig dependencies
Configurations with both CONFIG_FB_SIMPLE=y and CONFIG_DRM_SIMPLEDRM=m
are allowed by Kconfig because the 'depends on !DRM_SIMPLEDRM' dependency
does not disallow FB_SIMPLE as long as SIMPLEDRM is not built-in. This
can however result in a build failure when cfb_fillrect() etc are then
also in loadable modules:

x86_64-linux-ld: drivers/video/fbdev/simplefb.o:(.rodata+0x1f8): undefined reference to `cfb_fillrect'
x86_64-linux-ld: drivers/video/fbdev/simplefb.o:(.rodata+0x200): undefined reference to `cfb_copyarea'
x86_64-linux-ld: drivers/video/fbdev/simplefb.o:(.rodata+0x208): undefined reference to `cfb_imageblit'

To work around this, change FB_SIMPLE to be a 'tristate' symbol,
which still allows both to be =m together, but not one of them to
be =y if the other one is =m. If a distro kernel picks this
configuration, it can be determined by local policy which of
the two modules gets loaded. The 'of_chosen' export is needed
as this is the first loadable module referencing it.

Alternatively, the Kconfig dependency could be changed to
'depends on DRM_SIMPLEDRM=n', which would forbid the configuration
with both drivers.

Linus Torvalds cd395d529f tgafb: clarify dependencies
The TGA boards were based on the DECchip 21030 PCI graphics accelerator
used mainly for alpha, and existed in a TURBOchannel (TC) version for
the DECstation (MIPS) workstations.

However, the config option for the TGA code is a bit confused, and says

depends on FB && (ALPHA || TC)

because people didn't really want to enable the option for random PCI
environments, so the "ALPHA" stands in for that case (while the TC case
is then the MIPS DECstation case).

So that config dependency is kind of a mixture of architecture and bus
choices. But it's incorrect, in that there were non-PCI-based alpha
hardware, and then the driver just causes warnings:

drivers/video/fbdev/tgafb.c:1532:13: error: ‘tgafb_unregister’ defined but not used [-Werror=unused-function]
   1532 | static void tgafb_unregister(struct device *dev)
        | ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
drivers/video/fbdev/tgafb.c:1387:12: error: ‘tgafb_register’ defined but not used [-Werror=unused-function]
   1387 | static int tgafb_register(struct device *dev)
        | ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~

so let's make the config option dependencies a bit more explict:

	depends on FB
	depends on PCI || TC
	depends on ALPHA || TC

where that first "FB" is the software configuration dependency, the
second "PCI || TC" is the hardware bus dependency, while that final
"ALPHA || TC" dependency is the "don't bother asking except for these
situations.

We could make that third case have "COMPILE_TEST" as an option, and mark
the register/unregister functions as __maybe_unused, but I'm not sure
it's really worth it.

Tetsuo Handa 8c28051cdc fbmem: don't allow too huge resolutions
syzbot is reporting page fault at vga16fb_fillrect() [1], for
vga16fb_check_var() is failing to detect multiplication overflow.

  if (vxres * vyres > maxmem) {
    vyres = maxmem / vxres;
    if (vyres < yres)
      return -ENOMEM;
  }

Since no module would accept too huge resolutions where multiplication
overflow happens, let's reject in the common path.

Imre Deak 55285e21f0 fbdev/efifb: Release PCI device's runtime PM ref during FB destroy
Atm the EFI FB platform driver gets a runtime PM reference for the
associated GFX PCI device during probing the EFI FB platform device and
releases it only when the platform device gets unbound.

When fbcon switches to the FB provided by the PCI device's driver (for
instance i915/drmfb), the EFI FB will get only unregistered without the
EFI FB platform device getting unbound, keeping the runtime PM reference
acquired during the platform device probing. This reference will prevent
the PCI driver from runtime suspending the device.

Fix this by releasing the RPM reference from the EFI FB's destroy hook,
called when the FB gets unregistered.

While at it assert that pm_runtime_get_sync() didn't fail.

v2:
- Move pm_runtime_get_sync() before register_framebuffer() to avoid its
  race wrt. efifb_destroy()->pm_runtime_put(). (Daniel)
- Assert that pm_runtime_get_sync() didn't fail.
- Clarify commit message wrt. platform/PCI device/driver and driver
  removal vs. device unbinding.
