a25b988ff8 drm/bridge: Extend bridge API to disable connector creation
Most bridge drivers create a DRM connector to model the connector at the
output of the bridge. This model is historical and has worked pretty
well so far, but causes several issues:

- It prevents supporting more complex display pipelines where DRM
connector operations are split over multiple components. For instance a
pipeline with a bridge connected to the DDC signals to read EDID data,
and another one connected to the HPD signal to detect connection and
disconnection, will not be possible to support through this model.

- It requires every bridge driver to implement similar connector
handling code, resulting in code duplication.

- It assumes that a bridge will either be wired to a connector or to
another bridge, but doesn't support bridges that can be used in both
positions very well (although there is some ad-hoc support for this in
the analogix_dp bridge driver).

In order to solve these issues, ownership of the connector should be
moved to the display controller driver (where it can be implemented
using helpers provided by the core).

Extend the bridge API to allow disabling connector creation in bridge
drivers as a first step towards the new model. The new flags argument to
the bridge .attach() operation allows instructing the bridge driver to
skip creating a connector. Unconditionally set the new flags argument to
0 for now to keep the existing behaviour, and modify all existing bridge
drivers to return an error when connector creation is not requested as
they don't support this feature yet.

The change is based on the following semantic patch, with manual review
and edits.

b470743bed Revert "drm/bridge: Patch atomic hooks to take a drm_bridge_state"
This reverts commit f7619a58ef ("drm/bridge: Patch atomic hooks to
take a drm_bridge_state"). Commit 6ed7e9625f ("drm/bridge: Add a
drm_bridge_state object") introduced a circular dependency between
drm.ko and drm_kms_helper.ko which uncovered a misdesign in how the
whole thing was implemented. Let's revert all patches depending on the
bridge_state infrastructure for now.

59c1f061c9 drm: rcar-du: lvds: Allow for even and odd pixels swap
DT properties dual-lvds-even-pixels and dual-lvds-odd-pixels
can be used to work out if the driver needs to swap even
and odd pixels around.

This patch makes use of the return value from function
drm_of_lvds_get_dual_link_pixel_order to determine if we
need to swap odd and even pixels around for things to work
properly.

The dual_link boolean field from struct rcar_lvds is not
sufficient to describe the type of LVDS link anymore, since
we now have information related to pixel order, therefore
rename it to link_type and repurpose its usage to fit the
new requirements.

593885b085 drm: rcar-du: lvds: Get mode from state
The R-Car LVDS encoder driver implements the bridge .mode_set()
operation for the sole purpose of storing the mode in the LVDS private
data, to be used later when enabling the encoder.

Switch to the bridge .atomic_enable() and .atomic_disable() operations
in order to access the global atomic state, and get the mode from the
state instead. Remove both the unneeded .mode_set() operation and the
display_mode and mode fields storing state data from the rcar_lvds
private structure.

As a side effect we get the CRTC from the state, replace the CRTC
pointer retrieved through the bridge's encoder that shouldn't be used by
atomic drivers.

While at it, clarify a few error messages in rcar_lvds_get_lvds_mode()
and turn them into warnings as they are not fatal.

35a61fe921 drm: Stop accessing encoder->bridge directly
We are about to replace the single-linked bridge list by a double-linked
one based on list.h, leading to the suppression of the encoder->bridge
field. But before we can do that we must provide a
drm_bridge_chain_get_first_bridge() bridge helper and patch all drivers
and core helpers to use it instead of directly accessing encoder->bridge.

Note that we still have 2 drivers (VC4 and Exynos) manipulating the
encoder->bridge field directly because they need to cut the bridge chain
in order to control the enable/disable sequence. This is definitely
not something we want to encourage, so let's keep those 2 oddities
around until we find a better solution.

Pull drm updates from Dave Airlie:
"This is the main pull request for 5.4-rc1 merge window. I don't think
there is anything outstanding so next week should just be fixes, but
we'll see if I missed anything. I landed some fixes earlier in the
week but got delayed writing summary and sending it out, due to a mix
  of sick kid and jetlag!

There are some fixes pending, but I'd rather get the main merge out of
the way instead of delaying it longer.

It's also pretty large in commit count and new amd header file size.
The largest thing is four new amdgpu products (navi12/14, arcturus and
  renoir APU support).

Otherwise it's pretty much lots of work across the board, i915 has
started landing tigerlake support, lots of icelake fixes and lots of

89958b7cd9 drm/bridge: panel: Infer connector type from panel by default
The drm panel bridge creates a connector using a connector type
explicitly passed by the display controller or bridge driver that
instantiates the panel bridge. Now that drm_panel reports its connector
type, we can use it to avoid passing an explicit (and often incorrect)
connector type to drm_panel_bridge_add() and
devm_drm_panel_bridge_add().

Several drivers report incorrect or unknown connector types to
userspace. Reporting a different type may result in a breakage. For that
reason, rename (devm_)drm_panel_bridge_add() to
(devm_)drm_panel_bridge_add_typed(), and add new
(devm_)drm_panel_bridge_add() functions that use the panel connector
type. Update all callers of (devm_)drm_panel_bridge_add() to the _typed
function, they will be converted one by one after testing.

The panel drivers have been updated with the following Coccinelle
semantic patch, with manual inspection and fixes to indentation.

ee68c743f8 drm: Stop including drm_bridge.h from drm_crtc.h
We are about to add a drm_bridge_state that inherits from
drm_private_state which is defined in drm_atomic.h. Problem is,
drm_atomic.h includes drm_crtc.h which in turn includes drm_bridge.h,
leading to "drm_private_state has incomplete type" error.

Let's force all users of the drm_bridge API to explicitly include
drm_bridge.h.

a53358a31c drm: rcar_lvds: Fix dual link mode operations
The R-Car LVDS encoder units support dual-link operations by splitting
the pixel output between the primary encoder and the companion encoder.

Currently the companion encoder fails at probe time, causing the
registration of the primary to fail as well, preventing the whole DU unit
from being registered at all.

Fix this by not bailing out from probe with error if the
"renesas,companion" property is not specified.

6f3b62781b drm: Convert connector_helper_funcs->atomic_check to accept drm_atomic_state
Everyone who implements connector_helper_funcs->atomic_check reaches
into the connector state to get the atomic state. Instead of continuing
this pattern, change the callback signature to just give atomic state
and let the driver determine what it does and does not need from it.

Eventually all atomic functions should do this, but that's just too much
busy work for me.

Changes in v3:
- Added to the set
Changes in v4:
- None
Changes in v5:
- intel_digital_connector_atomic_check declaration moved to i915_atomic.h

167e535438 drm: rcar-du: lvds: Fix post-DLL divider calculation
The PLL parameters are computed by looping over the range of acceptable
M, N and E values, and selecting the combination that produces the
output frequency closest to the target. The internal frequency
constraints are taken into account by restricting the tested values for
the PLL parameters, reducing the search space. The target frequency,
however, is only taken into account when computing the post-PLL divider,
which can result in a 0 value for the divider when the PLL output
frequency being tested is lower than half of the target frequency.
Subsequent loops will produce a better set of PLL parameters, but for
some of the iterations this can result in a division by 0.

Fix it by clamping the divider value. We could instead restrict the E
values being tested in the inner loop, but that would require additional
calculation that would likely be less efficient as the E parameter can
only take three different values.
