smc_rx_recvmsg() first checks if data is available, and then if
RCV_SHUTDOWN is set. There is a race when smc_cdc_msg_recv_action() runs
in between these 2 checks, receives data and sets RCV_SHUTDOWN.
In that case smc_rx_recvmsg() would return from receive without to
process the available data.
Fix that with a final check for data available if RCV_SHUTDOWN is set.
Move the check for data into a function and call it twice.
And use the existing helper smc_rx_data_available().

smc_cdc_rxed_any_close_or_senddone() is used as an end condition for the
receive loop. This conflicts with smc_cdc_msg_recv_action() which could
run in parallel and set the bits checked by
smc_cdc_rxed_any_close_or_senddone() before the receive is processed.
In that case we could return from receive with no data, although data is
available. The same applies to smc_rx_wait().
Fix this by checking for RCV_SHUTDOWN only, which is set in
smc_cdc_msg_recv_action() after the receive was actually processed.

Here to fix it by adding the chunk to sk_backlog until newsk sk_socket is

Note that sk->sk_socket can be NULL when the sock is closed, so SOCK_DEAD

If llc_conn_state_process() sees that llc_conn_service() put the skb on
a list, it will drop one fewer references to it. This is wrong because
the current behavior is that llc_conn_service() never consumes a
reference to the skb.
The code also makes the number of skb references being dropped
conditional on which of ind_prim and cfm_prim are nonzero, yet neither
of these affects how many references are *acquired*. So there is extra
code that tries to fix this up by sometimes taking another reference.
Remove the unnecessary/broken refcounting logic and instead just add an
skb_get() before the only two places where an extra reference is
actually consumed.

When a local endpoint is ceases to be in use, such as when the kafs module
is unloaded, the kernel will emit an assertion failure if there are any
outstanding client connections:
rxrpc: Assertion failed
------------[ cut here ]------------
kernel BUG at net/rxrpc/local_object.c:433!
and even beyond that, will evince other oopses if there are service
connections still present.
Fix this by:
(1) Removing the triggering of connection reaping when an rxrpc socket is
released. These don't actually clean up the connections anyway - and
further, the local endpoint may still be in use through another
socket.
(2) Mark the local endpoint as dead when we start the process of tearing
it down.
(3) When destroying a local endpoint, strip all of its client connections
from the idle list and discard the ref on each that the list was
holding.
(4) When destroying a local endpoint, call the service connection reaper
directly (rather than through a workqueue) to immediately kill off all
outstanding service connections.
(5) Make the service connection reaper reap connections for which the
local endpoint is marked dead.
Only after destroying the connections can we close the socket lest we get
an oops in a workqueue that's looking at a connection or a peer.

In commit 365ad353c2 ("tipc: reduce risk of user starvation during
link congestion") we allowed senders to add exactly one list of extra
buffers to the link backlog queues during link congestion (aka
"oversubscription"). However, the criteria for when to stop adding
wakeup messages to the input queue when the overload abates is
inaccurate, and may cause starvation problems during very high load.
Currently, we stop adding wakeup messages after 10 total failed attempts
where we find that there is no space left in the backlog queue for a
certain importance level. The counter for this is accumulated across all
levels, which may lead the algorithm to leave the loop prematurely,
although there may still be plenty of space available at some levels.
The result is sometimes that messages near the wakeup queue tail are not
added to the input queue as they should be.
We now introduce a more exact algorithm, where we keep adding wakeup
messages to a level as long as the backlog queue has free slots for
the corresponding level, and stop at the moment there are no more such
slots or when there are no more wakeup messages to dequeue.

Fixes an issue where TX Timestamps are not arriving on the error queue
when UDP_SEGMENT CMSG type is combined with CMSG type SO_TIMESTAMPING.
This can be illustrated with an updated updgso_bench_tx program which
includes the '-T' option to test for this condition. It also introduces
the '-P' option which will call poll() before reading the error queue.
./udpgso_bench_tx -4ucTPv -S 1472 -l2 -D 172.16.120.18
poll timeout
udp tx: 0 MB/s 1 calls/s 1 msg/s
The "poll timeout" message above indicates that TX timestamp never
arrived.
This patch preserves tx_flags for the first UDP GSO segment. Only the
first segment is timestamped, even though in some cases there may be
benefital in timestamping both the first and last segment.
Factors in deciding on first segment timestamp only:
- Timestamping both first and last segmented is not feasible. Hardware
can only have one outstanding TS request at a time.
- Timestamping last segment may under report network latency of the
previous segments. Even though the doorbell is suppressed, the ring
producer counter has been incremented.
- Timestamping the first segment has the upside in that it reports
timestamps from the application's view, e.g. RTT.
- Timestamping the first segment has the downside that it may
underreport tx host network latency. It appears that we have to pick
one or the other. And possibly follow-up with a config flag to choose
behavior.

by one. The backlog length has to be adjusted to account for
new frames.
The current calculation is incorrect, leading to wrong backlog
lengths in the parent qdisc (both bytes and packets), and
incorrect packet backlog count in netem itself.
Parent backlog goes negative, netem's packet backlog counts
all non-first segments twice (thus remaining non-zero even
after qdisc is emptied).
Move the variables used to count the adjustment into local
scope to make 100% sure they aren't used at any stage in
backports.

The locking in force_sig_info is not prepared to deal with
a task that exits or execs (as sighand may change). As force_sig
is only built to handle synchronous exceptions.
Further the function force_sig_info changes the signal state if the
signal is ignored, or blocked or if SIGNAL_UNKILLABLE will prevent the
delivery of the signal. The signal SIGKILL can not be ignored and can
not be blocked and SIGNAL_UNKILLABLE won't prevent it from being
delivered.
So using force_sig rather than send_sig for SIGKILL is pointless.
Because it won't impact the sending of the signal and and because
using force_sig is wrong, replace force_sig with send_sig.

The rxrpc packet serial number cannot be safely used to compute out of
order ack packets for several reasons:
1. The allocation of serial numbers cannot be assumed to imply the order
by which acks are populated and transmitted. In some rxrpc
implementations, delayed acks and ping acks are transmitted
asynchronously to the receipt of data packets and so may be transmitted
out of order. As a result, they can race with idle acks.
2. Serial numbers are allocated by the rxrpc connection and not the call
and as such may wrap independently if multiple channels are in use.
In any case, what matters is whether the ack packet provides new
information relating to the bounds of the window (the firstPacket and
previousPacket in the ACK data).
Fix this by discarding packets that appear to wind back the window bounds
rather than on serial number procession.

When a DSA port is added to a bridge and brought up, the resulting STP
state programmed into the hardware depends on the order that these
operations are performed. However, the Linux bridge code believes that
the port is in disabled mode.
If the DSA port is first added to a bridge and then brought up, it will
be in blocking mode. If it is brought up and then added to the bridge,
it will be in disabled mode.
This difference is caused by DSA always setting the STP mode in
dsa_port_enable() whether or not this port is part of a bridge. Since
bridge always sets the STP state when the port is added, brought up or
taken down, it is unnecessary for us to manipulate the STP state.
Apparently, this code was copied from Rocker, and the very next day a
similar fix for Rocker was merged but was not propagated to DSA. See

We have seen the following race scenario:
1) named_distribute() builds a "bulk" message, containing a PUBLISH
item for a certain publication. This is based on the contents of
the binding tables's 'cluster_scope' list.
2) tipc_named_withdraw() removes the same publication from the list,
bulds a WITHDRAW message and distributes it to all cluster nodes.
3) tipc_named_node_up(), which was calling named_distribute(), sends
out the bulk message built under 1)
4) The WITHDRAW message arrives at the just detected node, finds
no corresponding publication, and is dropped.
5) The PUBLISH item arrives at the same node, is added to its binding
table, and remains there forever.
This arrival disordering was earlier taken care of by the backlog queue,
originally added for a different purpose, which was removed in the
commit referred to below, but we now need a different solution.
In this commit, we replace the rcu lock protecting the 'cluster_scope'
list with a regular RW lock which comprises even the sending of the
bulk message. This both guarantees both the list integrity and the
message sending order. We will later add a commit which cleans up
this code further.
Note that this commit needs recently added commit d3092b2efc ("tipc:

gss_read_proxy_verf() assumes things about the XDR buffer containing
the RPC Call that are not true for buffers generated by
svc_rdma_recv().
RDMA's buffers look more like what the upper layer generates for
sending: head is a kmalloc'd buffer; it does not point to a page
whose contents are contiguous with the first page in the buffers'
page array. The result is that ACCEPT_SEC_CONTEXT via RPC/RDMA has
stopped working on Linux NFS servers that use gssproxy.
This does not affect clients that use only TCP to send their
ACCEPT_SEC_CONTEXT operation (that's all Linux clients). Other
clients, like Solaris NFS clients, send ACCEPT_SEC_CONTEXT on the
same transport as they send all other NFS operations. Such clients
can send ACCEPT_SEC_CONTEXT via RPC/RDMA.
I thought I had found every direct reference in the server RPC code
to the rqstp->rq_pages field.

we still had a single write queue, combining rtx and write queues.
Once we moved the rtx queue into a separate rb-tree, testing
if sk_write_queue is empty has been suboptimal.
Indeed, if we have packets in the rtx queue, we probably want
to delay the EPOLLOUT generation at the time incoming packets
will free them, making room, but more importantly avoiding
flooding application with EPOLLOUT events.
Solution is to use tcp_rtx_and_write_queues_empty() helper.

When the packet pointed to by retransmit_skb_hint is unlinked by ACK,
retransmit_skb_hint will be set to NULL in tcp_clean_rtx_queue().
If packet loss is detected at this time, retransmit_skb_hint will be set
to point to the current packet loss in tcp_verify_retransmit_hint(),
then the packets that were previously marked lost but not retransmitted
due to the restriction of cwnd will be skipped and cannot be

To fix this, when retransmit_skb_hint is NULL, retransmit_skb_hint can
be reset only after all marked lost packets are retransmitted

tcp_rtx_queue_head in tcp_xmit_retransmit_queue().

commit 4cc4a17089 upstream.
The distributed arp table is using a DHT to store and retrieve MAC address
information for an IP address. This is done using unicast messages to
selected peers. The potential peers are looked up using the IP address and
the VID.
While the IP address is always stored in big endian byte order, this is not
the case of the VID. It can (depending on the host system) either be big
endian or little endian. The host must therefore always convert it to big
endian to ensure that all devices calculate the same peers for the same
lookup data.

The commit transaction list has:
NFT_MSG_NEWTABLE
NFT_MSG_NEWFLOWTABLE
NFT_MSG_DELFLOWTABLE
NFT_MSG_DELTABLE
A missing generation check during DELTABLE processing causes it to queue
the DELFLOWTABLE operation a second time, so we corrupt the list here:
case NFT_MSG_DELFLOWTABLE:
list_del_rcu(&nft_trans_flowtable(trans)->list);
nf_tables_flowtable_notify(&trans->ctx,
because we have two different DELFLOWTABLE transactions for the same
flowtable. We then call list_del_rcu() twice for the same flowtable->list.
The object handling seems to suffer from the same bug so add a generation
check too and only queue delete transactions for flowtables/objects that
are still active in the next generation.

commit 3e493173b7 upstream.
The Layer 2 Update frame is used to update bridges when a station roams
to another AP even if that STA does not transmit any frames after the
reassociation. This behavior was described in IEEE Std 802.11F-2003 as
something that would happen based on MLME-ASSOCIATE.indication, i.e.,
before completing 4-way handshake. However, this IEEE trial-use
recommended practice document was published before RSN (IEEE Std
802.11i-2004) and as such, did not consider RSN use cases. Furthermore,
IEEE Std 802.11F-2003 was withdrawn in 2006 and as such, has not been
maintained amd should not be used anymore.
Sending out the Layer 2 Update frame immediately after association is
fine for open networks (and also when using SAE, FT protocol, or FILS
authentication when the station is actually authenticated by the time
association completes). However, it is not appropriate for cases where
RSN is used with PSK or EAP authentication since the station is actually
fully authenticated only once the 4-way handshake completes after
authentication and attackers might be able to use the unauthenticated
triggering of Layer 2 Update frame transmission to disrupt bridge
behavior.
Fix this by postponing transmission of the Layer 2 Update frame from
station entry addition to the point when the station entry is marked
authorized. Similarly, send out the VLAN binding update only if the STA
entry has already been authorized.

use of the network namespace pointer for arptables.
When the net pointer got added back in 2010, only ip/ip6/ebtables were
changed to initialize it, so arptables has this set to NULL.
This isn't a problem for normal arptables because no existing
arptables target has a checkentry function that makes use of par->net.
However, direct users of the setsockopt interface can provide any
target they want as long as its registered for ARP or UNPSEC protocols.

When a child Qdisc is removed from one of the PRIO Qdisc's bands, it is
replaced unconditionally by a NOOP qdisc. As a result, any traffic hitting
that band gets dropped. That is incorrect--no Qdisc was explicitly added
when PRIO was created, and after removal, none should have to be added
either.
Fix PRIO by first attempting to create a default Qdisc and only falling
back to noop when that fails. This pattern of attempting to create an
invisible FIFO, using NOOP only as a fallback, is also seen in other
Qdiscs.

If this D-SACK also carries a SACK that needs to be processed

When a frame with NULL DSAP is received, llc_station_rcv is called.
In turn, llc_stat_ev_rx_null_dsap_xid_c is called to check if it is a NULL
XID frame. The return statement of llc_stat_ev_rx_null_dsap_xid_c returns 1
when the incoming frame is not a NULL XID frame and 0 otherwise. Hence, a
NULL XID response is returned unexpectedly, e.g. when the incoming frame is
a NULL TEST command.
To fix the error, simply remove the conditional operator.
A similar error in llc_stat_ev_rx_null_dsap_test_c is also fixed.

The existing rbtree implementation might store consecutive elements
where the closing element and the opening element might overlap, eg.
[ a, a+1) [ a+1, a+2)
This patch removes the optimization for non-anonymous sets in the exact
matching case, where it is assumed to stop searching in case that the
closing element is found. Instead, invalidate candidate interval and
keep looking further in the tree.
The lookup/get operation might return false, while there is an element
in the rbtree. Moreover, the get operation returns true as if a+2 would
be in the tree. This happens with named sets after several set updates.
The existing lookup optimization (that only works for the anonymous
sets) might not reach the opening [ a+1,... element if the closing
...,a+1) is found in first place when walking over the rbtree. Hence,
walking the full tree in that case is needed.
This patch fixes the lookup and get operations.

Curtis Taylor and Jon Maxwell reported and debugged a crash on 3.10
based kernel.
Crash occurs in ctnetlink_conntrack_events because net->nfnl socket is
NULL. The nfnl socket was set to NULL by netns destruction running on
another cpu.
The exiting network namespace calls the relevant destructors in the
following order:
1. ctnetlink_net_exit_batch
This nulls out the event callback pointer in struct netns.
2. nfnetlink_net_exit_batch
This nulls net->nfnl socket and frees it.
3. nf_conntrack_cleanup_net_list
This removes all remaining conntrack entries.
This is order is correct. The only explanation for the crash so ar is:
cpu1: conntrack is dying, eviction occurs:
-> nf_ct_delete()
-> nf_conntrack_event_report \
-> nf_conntrack_eventmask_report
-> notify->fcn() (== ctnetlink_conntrack_events).
cpu1: a. fetches rcu protected pointer to obtain ctnetlink event callback.
b. gets interrupted.
cpu2: runs netns exit handlers:
a runs ctnetlink destructor, event cb pointer set to NULL.
b runs nfnetlink destructor, nfnl socket is closed and set to NULL.
cpu1: c. resumes and trips over NULL net->nfnl.
Problem appears to be that ctnetlink_net_exit_batch only prevents future
callers of nf_conntrack_eventmask_report() from obtaining the callback.
It doesn't wait of other cpus that might have already obtained the
callbacks address.
I don't see anything in upstream kernels that would prevent similar
crash: We need to wait for all cpus to have exited the event callback.

Current code doesn't limit the number of nested devices.
Nested devices would be handled recursively and this needs huge stack
memory. So, unlimited nested devices could make stack overflow.
This patch adds upper_level and lower_level, they are common variables
and represent maximum lower/upper depth.
When upper/lower device is attached or dettached,
{lower/upper}_level are updated. and if maximum depth is bigger than 8,
attach routine fails and returns -EMLINK.
In addition, this patch converts recursive routine of
netdev_walk_all_{lower/upper} to iterator routine.
Test commands:
ip link add dummy0 type dummy
ip link add link dummy0 name vlan1 type vlan id 1
ip link set vlan1 up
for i in {2..55}
do
let A=$i-1
ip link add vlan$i link vlan$A type vlan id $i
done
ip link del dummy0

Backport of commit fdfc5c8594 ("tcp: remove empty skb from

various bugs. One of them has been fixed in commit ba2ddb43f2
("tcp: Don't dequeue SYN/FIN-segments from write-queue"), but
we still have crashes in some occasions.
Root-cause is that when tcp_sendmsg() has allocated a fresh
skb and could not append a fragment before being blocked
in sk_stream_wait_memory(), tcp_write_xmit() might be called
and decide to send this fresh and empty skb.
Sending an empty packet is not only silly, it might have caused
many issues we had in the past with tp->packets_out being
out of sync.

commit 8dbd76e79a upstream.
Michal Kubecek and Firo Yang did a very nice analysis of crashes
happening in __inet_lookup_established().
Since a TCP socket can go from TCP_ESTABLISH to TCP_LISTEN
(via a close()/socket()/listen() cycle) without a RCU grace period,
I should not have changed listeners linkage in their hash table.
They must use the nulls protocol (Documentation/RCU/rculist_nulls.txt),
so that a lookup can detect a socket in a hash list was moved in
another one.
Since we added code in commit d296ba60d8 ("soreuseport: Resolve
merge conflict for v4/v6 ordering fix"), we have to add
hlist_nulls_add_tail_rcu() helper.

The MTU update code is supposed to be invoked in response to real
networking events that update the PMTU. In IPv6 PMTU update function
__ip6_rt_update_pmtu() we called dst_confirm_neigh() to update neighbor
confirmed time.
But for tunnel code, it will call pmtu before xmit, like:
- tnl_update_pmtu()
- skb_dst_update_pmtu()
- ip6_rt_update_pmtu()
- __ip6_rt_update_pmtu()
- dst_confirm_neigh()
If the tunnel remote dst mac address changed and we still do the neigh
confirm, we will not be able to update neigh cache and ping6 remote
will failed.
So for this ip_tunnel_xmit() case, _EVEN_ if the MTU is changed, we
should not be invoking dst_confirm_neigh() as we have no evidence
of successful two-way communication at this point.
On the other hand it is also important to keep the neigh reachability fresh
for TCP flows, so we cannot remove this dst_confirm_neigh() call.
To fix the issue, we have to add a new bool parameter for dst_ops.update_pmtu
to choose whether we should do neigh update or not. I will add the parameter
in this patch and set all the callers to true to comply with the previous
way, and fix the tunnel code one by one on later patches.
v5: No change.
v4: No change.
v3: Do not remove dst_confirm_neigh, but add a new bool parameter in
dst_ops.update_pmtu to control whether we should do neighbor confirm.
Also split the big patch to small ones for each area.
v2: Remove dst_confirm_neigh in __ip6_rt_update_pmtu.

When the size of the receive buffer for a socket is close to 2^31 when
computing if we have enough space in the buffer to copy a packet from
the queue to the buffer we might hit an integer overflow.
When an user set net.core.rmem_default to a value close to 2^31 UDP
packets are dropped because of this overflow. This can be visible, for
instance, with failure to resolve hostnames.
This can be fixed by casting sk_rcvbuf (which is an int) to unsigned
int, similarly to how it is done in TCP.

>From commit 50895b9de1 ("tcp: highest_sack fix"), the logic about
setting tp->highest_sack to the head of the send queue was removed.
Of course the logic is error prone, but it is logical. Before we
remove the pointer to the highest sack skb and use the seq instead,
we need to set tp->highest_sack to NULL when there is no skb after
the last sack, and then replace NULL with the real skb when new skb
inserted into the rtx queue, because the NULL means the highest sack
seq is tp->snd_nxt. If tp->highest_sack is NULL and new data sent,
the next ACK with sack option will increase tp->reordering unexpectedly.
This patch sets tp->highest_sack to the tail of the rtx queue if
it's NULL and new data is sent. The patch keeps the rule that the
highest_sack can only be maintained by sack processing, except for
this only case.

Because padding isn't considered during computation of ->buf_user_offset,
"total" is decremented by fewer bytes than it should.
Therefore, the first part of

will pass, -- it should not have. This causes oob access:
entry->next_offset is past the vmalloced size.
Reject padding and check that computed user offset (sum of ebt_entry

proc_dointvec_minmax_bpf_restricted() has been firstly introduced

ede95a63b5 ("bpf: add bpf_jit_limit knob to restrict unpriv

Finally, this parameter has become long instead of integer with
fdadd04931 ("bpf: fix bpf_jit_limit knob for PAGE_SIZE >= 64K")
and thus, a new proc_dolongvec_minmax_bpf_restricted() has been
added.
With this last change, we got back to that
proc_dointvec_minmax_bpf_restricted() is used only under
CONFIG_HAVE_EBPF_JIT, but the corresponding ifdef has not been
brought back.
So, in configurations like CONFIG_BPF_JIT=y && CONFIG_HAVE_EBPF_JIT=n
since v4.20 we have:

let STAs send QoS Null frames as PS triggers if the AP was
a QoS STA. However, the mac80211 PS stack relies on an
interface flag IEEE80211_STA_NULLFUNC_ACKED for
determining trigger frame ACK, which was not being set for
acked non-QoS Null frames. The effect is an inability to
trigger hardware sleep via IEEE80211_CONF_PS since the QoS
Null frame was seemingly never acked.
This bug only applies to drivers which set both
IEEE80211_HW_REPORTS_TX_ACK_STATUS and
IEEE80211_HW_PS_NULLFUNC_STACK.
Detect the acked QoS Null frame to restore STA power save.

The openvswitch module shares a common conntrack and NAT infrastructure
exposed via netfilter. It's possible that a packet needs both SNAT and
DNAT manipulation, due to e.g. tuple collision. Netfilter can support
this because it runs through the NAT table twice - once on ingress and
again after egress. The openvswitch module doesn't have such capability.

Commit 43e665287f ("net-next: dsa: fix flow dissection") added an
ability to override protocol and network offset during flow dissection
for DSA-enabled devices (i.e. controllers shipped as switch CPU ports)
in order to fix skb hashing for RPS on Rx path.
However, skb_hash() and added part of code can be invoked not only on
Rx, but also on Tx path if we have a multi-queued device and:
- kernel is running on UP system or
- XPS is not configured.
The call stack in this two cases will be like: dev_queue_xmit() ->
__dev_queue_xmit() -> netdev_core_pick_tx() -> netdev_pick_tx() ->
skb_tx_hash() -> skb_get_hash().
The problem is that skbs queued for Tx have both network offset and
correct protocol already set up even after inserting a CPU tag by DSA
tagger, so calling tag_ops->flow_dissect() on this path actually only
breaks flow dissection and hashing.
This can be observed by adding debug prints just before and right after

I also decided to initialize 'offset' variable so tagger callbacks can
now safely leave it untouched without provoking a chaos.

We have an interesting memory leak in the bridge when it is being
unregistered and is a slave to a master device which would change the
mac of its slaves on unregister (e.g. bond, team). This is a very
unusual setup but we do end up leaking 1 fdb entry because
dev_set_mac_address() would cause the bridge to insert the new mac address
into its table after all fdbs are flushed, i.e. after dellink() on the
bridge has finished and we call NETDEV_UNREGISTER the bond/team would
release it and will call dev_set_mac_address() to restore its original
address and that in turn will add an fdb in the bridge.
One fix is to check for the bridge dev's reg_state in its
ndo_set_mac_address callback and return an error if the bridge is not in
NETREG_REGISTERED.
Easy steps to reproduce:
1. add bond in mode != A/B
2. add any slave to the bond
3. add bridge dev as a slave to the bond
4. destroy the bridge device

When user runs a command like
tc qdisc add dev eth1 root mqprio
KASAN stack-out-of-bounds warning is emitted.
Currently, NLA_ALIGN macro used in mqprio_dump provides too large
buffer size as argument for nla_put and memcpy down the call stack.
The flow looks like this:
1. nla_put expects exact object size as an argument;
2. Later it provides this size to memcpy;
3. To calculate correct padding for SKB, nla_put applies NLA_ALIGN
macro itself.
Therefore, NLA_ALIGN should not be applied to the nla_put parameter.
Otherwise it will lead to out-of-bounds memory access in memcpy.

[ Upstream commit 5fcaf6982d ]
I was investigating a crash in our Virtuozzo7 kernel which happened in
in svcauth_unix_set_client. I found out that we access m_client field
in ip_map structure, which was received from sunrpc_cache_lookup (we
have a bit older kernel, now the code is in sunrpc_cache_add_entry), and
these field looks uninitialized (m_client == 0x74 don't look like a
pointer) but in the cache_head in flags we see 0x1 which is CACHE_VALID.
It looks like the problem appeared from our previous fix to sunrpc (1):
commit 4ecd55ea07 ("sunrpc: fix cache_head leak due to queued
request")
And we've also found a patch already fixing our patch (2):
commit d58431eacb ("sunrpc: don't mark uninitialised items as VALID.")
Though the crash is eliminated, I think the core of the problem is not
completely fixed:
Neil in the patch (2) makes cache_head CACHE_NEGATIVE, before
cache_fresh_locked which was added in (1) to fix crash. These way
cache_is_valid won't say the cache is valid anymore and in
svcauth_unix_set_client the function cache_check will return error
instead of 0, and we don't count entry as initialized.
But it looks like we need to remove cache_fresh_locked completely in
sunrpc_cache_lookup:
In (1) we've only wanted to make cache_fresh_unlocked->cache_dequeue so
that cache_requests with no readers also release corresponding
cache_head, to fix their leak. We with Vasily were not sure if
cache_fresh_locked and cache_fresh_unlocked should be used in pair or
not, so we've guessed to use them in pair.
Now we see that we don't want the CACHE_VALID bit set here by
cache_fresh_locked, as "valid" means "initialized" and there is no
initialization in sunrpc_cache_add_entry. Both expiry_time and
last_refresh are not used in cache_fresh_unlocked code-path and also not
required for the initial fix.
So to conclude cache_fresh_locked was called by mistake, and we can just
safely remove it instead of crutching it with CACHE_NEGATIVE. It looks
ideologically better for me. Hope I don't miss something here.
Here is our crash backtrace:

Previously the SNMP TCPTIMEOUTS counter has inconsistent accounting:
1. It counts all SYN and SYN-ACK timeouts
2. It counts timeouts in other states except recurring timeouts and
timeouts after fast recovery or disorder state.
Such selective accounting makes analysis difficult and complicated. For
example the monitoring system needs to collect many other SNMP counters
to infer the total amount of timeout events. This patch makes TCPTIMEOUTS
counter simply counts all the retransmit timeout (SYN or data or FIN).

When we add a new IPv6 address, we should also join corresponding solicited-node
multicast address, unless the interface has IFF_NOARP flag, as function
addrconf_join_solict() did. But if we remove IFF_NOARP flag later, we do
not do dad and add the mcast address. So we will drop corresponding neighbour
discovery message that came from other nodes.
A typical example is after creating a ipvlan with mode l3, setting up an ipv6
address and changing the mode to l2. Then we will not be able to ping this
address as the interface doesn't join related solicited-node mcast address.
Fix it by re-doing dad when interface changed IFF_NOARP flag. Then we will add
corresponding mcast group and check if there is a duplicate address on the
network.

Now sctp increases sk_wmem_alloc by 1 when doing set_owner_w for the
skb allocked in sctp_packet_transmit and decreases by 1 when freeing
this skb.
But when this skb goes through networking stack, some subcomponents
might change skb->truesize and add the same amount on sk_wmem_alloc.
However sctp doesn't know the amount to decrease by, it would cause
a leak on sk->sk_wmem_alloc and the sock can never be freed.
Xiumei found this issue when it hit esp_output_head() by using sctp
over ipsec, where skb->truesize is added and so is sk->sk_wmem_alloc.
Since sctp has used sk_wmem_queued to count for writable space since

An ESP packet could be decrypted in async mode if the input handler for
this packet returns -EINPROGRESS in xfrm_input(). At this moment the device
reference in skb is held. Later xfrm_input() will be invoked again to
resume the processing.
If the transform state is still valid it would continue to release the
device reference and there won't be a problem; however if the transform
state is not valid when async resumption happens, the packet will be
dropped while the device reference is still being held.
When the device is deleted for some reason and the reference to this
device is not properly released, the kernel will keep logging like:
unregister_netdevice: waiting for ppp2 to become free. Usage count = 1
The issue is observed when running IPsec traffic over a PPPoE device based
on a bridge interface. By terminating the PPPoE connection on the server
end for multiple times, the PPPoE device on the client side will eventually
get stuck on the above warning message.
This patch will check the async mode first and continue to release device
reference in async resumption, before it is dropped due to invalid state.

hb_timer might not start at all for a particular transport because its
start is conditional. In a result a node is not sending heartbeats.
Function sctp_transport_reset_hb_timer has two roles:
- initial start of hb_timer for a given transport,
- update expire date of hb_timer for a given transport.
The function is optimized to update timer's expire only if it is before
a new calculated one but this comparison is invalid for a timer which
has not yet started. Such a timer has expire == 0 and if a new expire
value is bigger than (MAX_JIFFIES / 2 + 2) then "time_before" macro will
fail and timer will not start resulting in no heartbeat packets send by
the node.
This was found when association was initialized within first 5 mins
after system boot due to jiffies init value which is near to MAX_JIFFIES.
Test kernel version: 4.9.154 (ARCH=arm)

In some scenarios a separate consumer cursor update is necessary.
The decision is made in smc_tx_consumer_cursor_update(). The
sender_free computation could be wrong:
The rx confirmed cursor is always smaller than or equal to the
rx producer cursor. The parameters in the smc_curs_diff() call
have to be exchanged, otherwise sender_free might even be negative.
And if more data arrives local_rx_ctrl.prod might be updated, enabling
a cursor difference between local_rx_ctrl.prod and rx confirmed cursor
larger than the RMB size. This case is not covered by smc_curs_diff().
Thus function smc_curs_diff_large() is introduced here.
If a recvmsg() is processed in parallel, local_tx_ctrl.cons might
change during smc_cdc_msg_send. Make sure rx_curs_confirmed is updated
with the actually sent local_tx_ctrl.cons value.

Digging through the ioctls with Al because of the previous
patches, we found that on 64-bit decnet's dn_dev_ioctl()
is wrong, because struct ifreq::ifr_ifru is actually 24
bytes (not 16 as expected from struct sockaddr) due to the
ifru_map and ifru_settings members.
Clearly, decnet expects the ioctl to be called with a struct
like
struct ifreq_dn {
char ifr_name[IFNAMSIZ];
struct sockaddr_dn ifr_addr;
};
since it does
struct ifreq *ifr = ...;
struct sockaddr_dn *sdn = (struct sockaddr_dn *)&ifr->ifr_addr;
This means that DN_IFREQ_SIZE is too big for what it wants on
64-bit, as it is
sizeof(struct ifreq) - sizeof(struct sockaddr) +
sizeof(struct sockaddr_dn)
This assumes that sizeof(struct sockaddr) is the size of ifr_ifru
but that isn't true.
Fix this to use offsetof(struct ifreq, ifr_ifru).
This indeed doesn't really matter much - the result is that we
copy in/out 8 bytes more than we should on 64-bit platforms. In
case the "struct ifreq_dn" lands just on the end of a page though
it might lead to faults.
As far as I can tell, it has been like this forever, so it seems
very likely that nobody cares.

ip l add dev tun type gretap key 1000
ip a a dev tun 10.0.0.1/24
Packets with tun-id 1000 can be recived by tun dev. But packet can't
be sent through dev tun for non-tunnel-dst
With this patch: tunnel-dst can be get through lwtunnel like beflow:
ip r a 10.0.0.7 encap ip dst 172.168.0.11 dev tun

If a reply has been processed but the RPC is later retransmitted
anyway, the req->rl_reply field still contains the only pointer to
the old rpcrdma rep. When the next reply comes in, the reply handler
will stomp on the rl_reply field, leaking the old rep.
A trace event is added to capture such leaks.
This problem seems to be worsened by the restructuring of the RPC
Call path in v4.20. Fully addressing this issue will require at
least a re-architecture of the disconnect logic, which is not
appropriate during -rc.

Each media stream negotiation between 2 SIP peers will trigger creation
of 4 different expectations (2 RTP and 2 RTCP):
- INVITE will create expectations for the media packets sent by the
called peer
- reply to the INVITE will create expectations for media packets sent
by the caller
The dport used by these expectations usually match the ones selected
by the SIP peers, but they might get translated due to conflicts with
another expectation. When such event occur, it is important to do
this translation in both directions, dport translation on the receiving
path and sport translation on the sending path.
This commit fixes the sport translation when the peer requiring it is
also the one that starts the media stream. In this scenario, first media
stream packet is forwarded from LAN to WAN and will rely on
nf_nat_sip_expected() to do the necessary sport translation. However, the
expectation matched by this packet does not contain the necessary information
for doing SNAT, this data being stored in the paired expectation created by
the sender's SIP message (INVITE or reply to it).

The old code always starts from fixed port for VMADDR_PORT_ANY. Sometimes
when VMM crashed, there is still orphaned vsock which is waiting for
close timer, then it could cause connection time out for new started VM
if they are trying to connect to same port with same guest cid since the
new packets could hit that orphaned vsock. We could also fix this by doing
more in vhost_vsock_reset_orphans, but any way, it should be better to start
from a random local port instead of a fixed one.
