21730d6942 closing in: 
* bonding the PathNode and NodePair more closely together.
* NO LONGER USING THE condensePathNodes logic
* moar unit test to ensure the logic can go there, and back again

49c606be4d Moar progress! 
* adding logging, at least for a minute
* working through the PathTree.validate(path) logic
* BUG: in the populate tree path, calling a stringbuffer charAt(0)
* moar unit testing to iron things out.
